Simply fantastic. Came down from Dallas for a Magnolia weekend to celebrate an anniversary. We started with the Diamondback roll which was phenomenal. We both had a filet with Oscar topping and both were cooked to perfection. We topped it off with the Globe and it did not disappoint. Overall, superb. Didn't have reservations so sat at bar. Bartender was great, food was excellent. We had fried asparagus with Crab meat - delicious! And the crab 254 sushi which was just as good. Best part was globe dessert - 6" hollow globe of white chocolate on plate. Bartender pours hot chocolate ganache on top in a cross shape & the things splits open perfectly to reveal chocolate brownie on strawberries with a scoop of ice cream on top -all in the presentation! read more

We had the pleasure of eating here 2 years ago while in Waco and when we arrived in town everything was completely booked. We took a chance and were hoping to just grab a bite at the bar but when we arrived someone had just cancelled so we had a lovely meal in a booth seat. Our server, Cameron, was so attentive and made the whole experience that much more special. The restaurant was packed with many large groups from Baylors graduation and Cameron still managed to manage everything with grace and ease. A great meal and fantastic experience. read more

I had made a reservation for 2 for 7:30 pm on a Saturday evening on 11/25/2017. The host greeted us and seated us quickly. The waitress, however was the best thing about the place. She was amazing, very friendly and very social. The drinks from the bar were good, appetizers were also just ok. I had ordered for my meal, the herb roasted chicken. It contained 3 small pieces of chicken, about 2 oz each, WHICH had bones in part of it. The chicken was so dry, I could not eat it without taking a drink of water. the potatoes really seemed like they were from a box. The rolls were slightly underdone. My dinner mate ordered the chefs special off the menu. It was a steak,, cut of salmon and chicken fried venison. the steak was way over done, it was ordered as rare and came out well. The salmon and the chicken fried was super dry. The 2 sides we ordered was the mac and cheese, it also was super dry. The tempura fried asparagus was NOT tempura, it was just fried and the asparagus was under-cooked. If your looking for good food, this in not the place for it. Andy read more

We had a great evening at Diamondback. Our server Jacobo was outstanding - right level of constant attention, all recommendations were very good, and he made our dinner out very pleasant. The food (crab stuffed tenderloin, lobster tail, mac and cheese, house salad) were cooked and prepared perfectly. Presentations were works of art. We came in to celebrate our anniversary last weekend. Tea had awful Waco water aftertaste. Almost like it had actual dirt in it. My napkin was dirty on the table before we even sat down. My steak was over cooked and extremely tough. My wife's tenderloin was also over cooked and tough. The salad was lackluster at best. Diamondback's used to be one of our favorite places to go out to eat, but sadly I doubt we will be returning. read more

This is a great steakhouse with plenty of steak and seafood options. The service is some of the best in town as is to be expected at this price point. They have some good wines to choose from as well. The atmosphere is warm and comfortable and the whole place is very well kept. Dessert is just ok so they could improve there. I find the prices are about 10% higher when compared to similar steakhouses in larger cities but the food is great and with the attention I expect at higher end restaurants. Definitely a great spot for a date! read more

Best gourmet steakhouse, in my opinion. The blue cheese crusted filet is my all time favorite and has been for years. Definitely pricey, but never disappointed. This is our spot for birthday dinners and special occasions. Oh, and can't forget dessert! The chocolate tower/sack is by far my favorite dessert EVERRRR! Have to have that at least once a year. On the hunt for a good steak my husband and I came here driving through town. I ordered prime rib and it was extremely bland, but edible. My husband ordered a rare strip and it came well done. 10min later another steak came cooked medium to medium rare. It was not the experience we expected since our meals could not be eaten together and the food was not too great. The check took forever to come. It's like they're trying to be a nice restaurant (& charging like one), but falling short. Slow (but sweet) service and sub-par food. Only thing I can say is the sides are great. Save yourself time and money and go to Texas Roadhouse for a better meal. read more

Recently had dinner at Diamond Back's. The restaurant was only half full. We were seated at 7:45 PM and received our food at 9:17 PM. Service was definitely amateur hour and the food was mediocre (except for the steak). Crab stuffed giant shrimp came out as 4 shrimp on a plate sitting on some mushy bread stuff that had no resemblance to blue crab at all! Will not return! read more

This place has nice ambience. Service is slow and rather poor. I waited so long for a water refill that i walked to the bar where the blonde gave me a nasty look and said "i will be with you in a second!!!" I sat back down and a few minutes latet i did manage to get my water refilled. I had the prime rib. Great flavor but very chewy. In no way did it warrant a $50 price tag. Growing up in Chicago, I've been to my fair share of nice steakhouses. This includes famous, big name places that overcharge for their meals. That being said, I have never been so flabbergasted at menu prices as I was when we went to DiamondBacks last night. $6 upcharge for a soup? $32 for the cheapest entree? The only reason we went in the first place was because we were given a $50 gift card as a present. We thought $50 would cover both our meals and an appetizer. LOL. We ended up paying an extra $60 on top of the gift card and only ordered an entree each, he got a beer and I got a Sprite. But let's talk about the portion sizes for a second. My fiancé got the mixed grill. The steak portion he ate in 2 bites, the salmon 3, and another 3 or so for the chicken fried venison. Luckily I picked the prime rib and was able to give him about 1/3 of my steak. The salads that we got were tasty, but also tiny. You'd think for an average of $45 a plate, you'd get a lot of food- or at least leave the restaurant full. Nope. That's not the worst though! The quality of the food wasn't exceptional either! My steak was too salty and part of it was still cold (I ordered medium-rare so it should have been warmed throughout). My fiancé agreed that it wasn't anything he hadn't tasted before. To top off the experience a couple came in about halfway through our meal and kept looking over at our table and back at each other and laughing... Their lack of manners obviously made us feel incredibly awkward and worsened our experience even more. 3/10- WOULD NOT RECCOMEND read more

Very disappointed with our visit to DiamondBacks. On a positive note, we were seated very quickly. However, we never saw a waiter (or any waitstaff for that matter). We left after 15 minutes of waiting for someone to come to the table. The hostess was very friendly but didn't look up from her phone. When we mentioned that we were never waited on and never even saw a waiter to flag down, she apologized but didn't even offer to get someone for us. Wife and I went there for our 30th Anniversary. We made the reservation online, and because we said it was an anniversary, they had a very special booth ready for us with rose petals spread out on the white tablecloth. Very nice. Our waiter, Tyler, was probably the best we have had in many, many years at any restaurant. We went all out wine and food and loved everything. The calamari was fantastic, nice salads, fantastic filet mignon Oscar style, and a wonderful dessert. We also had the highly-recommended potatoes au gratin. I would avoid this place during big events at Baylor, e.g., graduation this weekend. To maximize revenue, they added more tables in the dinning areas. The extra tables made the dinning experience crammed. I could not get up from my table without bumping into the patrons sitting next to me. To top it off, the AC wasn't working well. They kept saying the Manager was working on the temperature, but the temperature was an issue the entire meal. If you going to pack people in a dinning area, at least make sure the AC works. With that being said, the food was good. But the warm temperature and crammed seating arrangements ruined the experience. Worst dinner experience Ive ever had. There were 4 of us and it took 3 1/2 hours to get through dinner. Our waiter hardly came to check on us at all. The food was mediocre at best and very overpriced. Then by boyfriend found broken glass in his water. When we told the waiter she went and got the manager (30 minutes later) who simply came by the table and said sorry. The waiter didnt even give him a new glass of water! Then they tried to overcharge (by $75) us for the bottle of wine we ordered and were very rude about it. We had to have them bring a menu and show them that the bottle was priced differently on the menu. Even then they made us pay the higher price because they said it was a mistake. NEVER eat here. We went last night to try the "Wednesday Lobster special" they are advertising on FB for every Wed. In July. We were seated promptly....the restaurant was almost empty. The waiter arrived promptly with water and we ordered a bottle of wine. (Wine list is heavy on expensive wines but we found a $39 bottle we liked). I asked our waiter about the lobster special and he knew nothing about it...he did not know they had a special. He went to check and said yes they did have a lobster special. A good restaurant should inform their staff about any specials. The lobster was good, not great. We each had a salad and my husband had a rib eye steak. All good. We shared creme brûlée for dessert. It was very good but not $14.99 good. All in all a nice evening but definitely a splurge. Our waiter was very good and we tipped him accordingly. read more

My husband and I had dinner here last night......delicious!!! We were greeted by Caitlen, who was friendly and just darling. Our server was Tonya and she was attentive, friendly and provided great service. Yes, the food is on the expensive side, however, we don't mind paying for a great meal, and we definitely had a great meal. I love presentation and no disappointment in that area. The only reason I didn't give Diamondback's five stars is because we were charged $9 for splitting an entree. My husband and I do not eat big dinners so splitting an entree works perfectly for us. I realize that many upscale restaurants charge a surcharge for splitting an entiree but I find it a little ridiculous, especially $9. If in Waco again we would definitely return to Diamondback's......absolutely delicious!!! read more

This is my second visit here. Obviously my first brought is back to celebrate my daughter's college graduation. The atmosphere, service, and drinks were exceptional. Our guests had no complaints at all. However. My wife and I ordered prime rib. Much to our chagrin it was somewhat rubbery and difficult to chew. Considering the lateness of the hour and that most of us had well over hour drives to home we chose not to complain or put a damper on the festivities. Not sure we will return. read more

Appetizer Sushi tower was 5 stars, jumbo shrimp cocktail 3 stars- little mushy for me taste. Main entrees of filet and fish were all 5 stars. Ended with red velvet bomb- 3 stars-just okay not worth $14.99 price. Should have ordered the chocolate tower. All in all, nice dinner with friends. We had a rehearsal dinner for our son's wedding in The Hall event room at Diamondbacks. The food was great easpecially the dessert! We had the fajita buffet. The staff was very attentive and helpful on the day of the event! They met our every need even while we were decorating. The event coordinator was great to work with during the planning process! That made it easier for us. The Hall is a nice size and pretty venue for events like this. read more

I have no idea where those folks that didn't give Diamond Backs a 5 star rating really ate at, but it clearly wasn't where I was. My work place held our awards dinner there on Wednesday night and the service, food and ambiance was outstanding. We ordered appetizer platters and they were more than ample for our group, as well as being absolutely wonderful. We ordered everything from steaks to seafood. I had the special, a filet stuffed with crab stuffing, served with broiled shrimp and asparagus. The steak was tender and delicious. The stuffing was divine. Everyone was happy with their food. No complaints at all. Did I mention the service? Fantastic. We never wanted for anything, but at the same time didn't feel like she was hovering over us. This past November, we had the opportunity to go to New Orleans and dined at Emeril's. I can tell you their service and food was no where as good as what we had at Diamond Backs for about the same price. Thank you for a wonderful night! read more
