Wonderful burger's!!! I really enjoyed the decorations for the holidays. Parking is tough and very difficult to find. The oysters were fresh but wished there was a signature sauce versus just cocktail and horseradish.
I had been meaning to try Dexter's and I'm so glad I finally did! Truly everything on the menu looked good. I wanted to order one of everything - especially in the snacks section of the menu. We stopped in for happy hour with a reservation on the patio. I really enjoyed I could reserve a spot outside, a lot of places won't guarantee that. We enjoyed the happy hour selection, including the tini flight, wine, margarita and spritz. We also enjoyed oysters, caviar, rock shrimp tempura, tallow fries and the dexter burger. All was fantastic, and I would love to come back and truly try everything else on the menu! One note of caution, while we were there a gust of wind blew an umbrella out of its stand and almost landed/punctured a guest at a nearby table. It was quite the commotion and very scary. I'm guessing that doesn't happen often but a good reminder to be aware of your surroundings all the time!
I came here with my friend for the Girl Dinner special. We had the best time! The Caesar salad was fresh. The fries were tasty, I almost wanted to place a second order. The martinis were just what we needed. We also ordered the chicken wings and the smash burger to share. Both were incredible. I would definitely order the smash burger again and again! The service was friendly. The atmosphere was low lit yet upbeat. Overall, a good experience!
Came here for the holiday pop-up, which was a fun change of pace since the regular decor is pretty basic and leans more sports bar. The food is where this place shines. The elote burger is so good and such a unique find. Definitely a standout. Overall, it's a classic burger spot that's consistently solid. They also have a ton of great appetizer options, and the happy hour prices are really good, which makes it an easy place to come back to. Service is very friendly and good recommendations which is always a great touch for a more casual place.
This place is an absolute gem! I heard they were sort of elevated bar food and that's exactly what they are, but I didn't think you could make classic bar food taste this good! We went with a small group and although we did order apps and then dinner after, the service was extremely slow. I think they had just opened their patio and were maybe a bit short staffed as it took almost 45 minutes for our second round of drinks, and food took a while as well. We were there for maybe 2.5 hours and the table next to us turned over a couple times during, so maybe just bad luck. That being said, I will absolutely be back. The food was way too good not to! There's also some TVs in the place to watch sports but it's not overwhelming with TVs. So you can still peak at the game while it not feeling like people are there only to watch sports. Classic updated bar and grille vibe with a little more class.
Dexter's is a great spot, especially in the summer with their happy hour and seasonal deals (Restaurant week was a hit). The cacio e pepe cauliflower is an absolute must-order every time I go. The burgers are all delicious, but the Elote Burger is my personal favorite. The drinks are just as good- I've worked my way through a good portion of the cocktail menu, and there's truly something for everyone. It was easy to get a table, service was quick and friendly, and the whole place has such a cute atmosphere.
Dexter's in Edina is such a vibe. The interior is gorgeous and super aesthetic... perfect for a night out. You have to get the burger; it lived up to the hype, and the beef tallow fries are a total game-changer (definitely go for those over the chips). We also tried the fish and chips, which was solid, and the martinis and drinks were great. The service was really sweet, though things moved a little slow. Still, the atmosphere is so good I didn't mind staying a bit longer. Can't wait to go back and work my way through the rest of the menu!
The service was amazing from the host to the very end of dinner. It was a very kid friendly place with lots of families dining in. We went on a Saturday and there was happy hour all day. The best thing was the chocolate gelato. It was an intense chocolate flavor with nice crunch of hazelnuts. Cauliflower cacio e Pepe was a little overcooked for me that the cauliflower didn't really have a bite. The steak frites had a little smoky flavor, I think it just lack some flavor. The cheese curds were dusted in cheddar powder which was a nice touch for something different.
We went here to celebrate a birthday. The hostess was very kind and grabbed us an extra table since we had a couple more people added on to our reservation. Service was great, our waitress was attentive and explained the menu to us. We were happy to find out they had all day happy hour on Sundays so we ordered pretty much everything on the happy hour menu. Everything was pretty good except some items were kind of salty or not much flavor. Brussel sprouts were delicious! Cauliflower was loaded with cheese, it was just ok. Chicken wings were salty, wish there was some other sauce to go with it, the sauce it came with didn't have much flavor to complement it. There was not a lot of cinnamon flavor coming through. The caviar was just ok, we were expecting more from it but we also don't eat caviar ever so not sure if that's just the norm. Oysters were small but decent. They were fresh. The sauce that came with it was not delicious, plain Tabasco and lemon would've been better. Cheese curds were crispy and hot! Delicious! Salmon tartare was just ok. The bread was not crisp and didn't add much to the flavor. I didn't love it. Our group does not drink regularly so we tried the non alcoholic snowbird and it wasn't really for me. Others in the group liked it. It still tasted "strong" even though it's non alcoholic. My main was the elote burger and it was probably the best thing I had there. Others in the group said it wasn't for them but they don't normally order that type of stuff. There was so much flavor and I loved the corn. The chipotle mayo was the perfect amount of spice for me. My kids enjoyed their burger and fries and chicken strips and fries. They ate the whole plate! The steak frites are good, tender and flavorful. Wish there was more of it for the price. The gelato was free for celebrating a birthday and it was delicious! Overall it was a great atmosphere and we had great service. The table was a bit tight but that was our fault for having more people. The bill ended up being around $350 so we will only be back for special occasions! Pretty pricey for what we got.
A Surprisingly Stellar Experience: Simple Pleasures Shine at Dexter's Overall Rating: Dexter's isn't where I usually go, yet stopping by last time - just for fries and lemonade - ended up way better than I thought it would. I walked in wanting a fast fix, no big deal, just something salty and cold to hit the spot. Instead, I got food that felt cared for, served with a vibe that made me want to stay awhile. Simple stuff, sure - but done right, you notice every bite. Right when I walked in, Dexter's vibe hit me strong. Not too loud but full of life - modern, though never cold or off-puting. People talking, moving around, gives it a busy glow while still feeling cozy. Sharp layouts everywhere, nothing messy, just smooth shapes and nice touches that make hanging out here natural. One of those spots where time slips by without noticing. The experience only made things feel even better. I went with something simple--just fries and a drink--but the team kept their energy up and stayed engaged. Some looked puzzled by our choice to keep it light. My brother just ordered fries too, but his got delayed because the staff thought we were sharing as a start to our meal. This made him feel slightly out of place ordering his meal, but the staff moved quickly to get his order, checking in on him with a warm vibe that felt genuine, like they actually cared. That kind of attention, even when you're not dropping big money, shows what this place is really about - keeping every guest happy, no exceptions. Then came the fries. Wow - those fries! Though just "basic food," Dexter's made them stand out. Cooked spot-on: crunchy outside, soft within, flavor balanced well. Not too oily at all, plus you could tell they were made with real attention. A cool, tasty glass of lemonade made it just right - simple but satisfying. Shows how good stuff and doing things with detail turns plain dishes into something worth remembering. Even though I just popped in for a small meal, Dexter's ended up surprising me more than expected. They clearly care about making folks feel welcome - no matter what's on the plate. A fresh-looking space mixed with sharp attention to detail makes it stand out. What impressed me most was how helpful they stayed - even when asked for something basic. Honestly? Worth trying if you're tired of the same old spots. Dexter's shows how good they are by making every little thing feel special. I'll definitely return.
I watched a college football game here with a couple buddies and it was a real blast. Great beers on tap, big tvs but a nice, luxurious atmosphere. The seats are comfy, the tables are hard wood and the bathrooms are still top notch. I really enjoyed the overall vibe and burger, but I noticed they'd taken off the triple onion burger. That burger was one of my absolute favorites and I missed it so much which is unfortunately why I had to take a star away because please bring it back it's not the same without it !! Great service as always and even when it's hopping like it was on a Saturday night when i was there. Make sure to check resy for reservations ahead of time to avoid this !
Enjoyed the lovely patio at Dexter's on a beautiful late morning. We were the first in at 11 AM when it opened. The pergola kept the sun off us reasonably well. Also a nice big screen TV to see college football on a Saturday was a plus. The Caprese toast (for 2 people max) and roasted cauliflower Parmesan cream (good sized portion) appetizers were pretty good. The fried chicken thigh sandwich was very good, but also pretty spicy with the Sereno slaw. It comes with chips but for $4 you can substitute for fries (putting the sandwich with fries at $21). The bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich (only $12) was also very good and comes with chips. The bacon in the sandwich was perfectly cooked and had an exceptional flavor. Service was friendly and helpful, but not very attentive. The iced tea is really delicious but comes in a small glass and it was very difficult to get refills when needed. It was also a pretty long wait between our starters and our entrées despite only a few people at the restaurant. Guess you can't be in too much of a hurry on a Saturday.
The happy hour here is amazing! We went on a Thursday evening and easily got a table, but the patio filled up by 6:30. The cheese curds were tasty, but the orange cheese powder dusting was unexpected. The salmon tartare and cinnamon wings were great. The cacio e Pepe cauliflower were a little soggy and not my favorite. The brussel sprouts were a stand out dish and were the best I've ever eaten. The make up make out cocktail was also delicious. Our server was so nice and we loved the patio!

First time at Dexters! Everything was so fabulous. My group had beer, espresso martinis, and a margarita. Delicious! We split the cacio e Pepe cauliflower - very cheesy but a little bland. Everyone got burgers and I got the seafood sandwich. SO good. Service was fabulous. Interior was cute and simple. I took a star off because it was SO HOT in there. I was sweating the whole time and was so uncomfortable. Need to check the temp! read more

The Dexter burger (two smashed patties), Caesar salad and onion rings were all great. Good mocktail options as well. We didn't have a reservation but were able to find two seats at the bar fairly quickly on a Saturday evening. Only negative was that they didn't provide mustard. read more

Dexter's 10/10. I went there with a large group of girlfriends and we had the best time! The drinks came quick and were delicious, the staff was very knowledgeable, especially for one of my friend's who has a food allergy. Favorites are the mushroom burger, Caviar and Salmon Roe but let's be honest we pretty much ordered the whole menu and it was phenomenal!! Great vibe for large groups or next time would love to bring my boyfriend and just sit at the bar! Thank you Dexter's staff for a wonderful experience! Until next time! read more

First I would like to say that the reason I gave it 3 stars, is strictly due to the service experience. The food is really good and I enjoyed the ambience of the restaurant. I had the potato waffles app, which is absolutely amazing. I also ordered the onion burger and my friend got the seafood sandwich. I asked my server whether I should try the Dexter or the triple onion and he recommended the triple onion as it is more unique. I tried her sandwich and it wasn't bad, but I don't recommend it for $27. When my burger came out, not my server, but another employee dropped it off. It was a mushroom burger, instead of the onion burger. As she set the plate, I informed her that I ordered the onion burger. She apologized and said since I already set the mushroom burger down, I can keep it and we will put in an order for the onion burger. Also that she would take the mushroom burger off my tab. I did try the mushroom burger and it was amazing, it also comes with a sauce/gravy, and it is also delicious. I ate half the mushroom burger as I waited for my onion burger to get cooked. 20 min later my friend was long done with her food and I was still waiting. My original server came back and asked if we want our leftovers boxes, which we did. He returned with the boxed food and the tab. I asked him when my onion burger would be out and he looked at me with a confused look on his face. I explained that I ordered the onion burger and his co worker was supposed to put it in. However, considering we were there for a while and I didn't want to wait I just said I'll try it next time. My tab still had the mushroom burger, and $10 was taken off. However I still paid for the other half. Overall I spent over an hour, ate a half of a burger I didn't order and the other half was boxed as I expected my original order. Ended up leaving still hungry and eating the other cold half at home. The confusion about my order and still charging me for the food I didn't order was a bummer. With that said, I will definitely be back as I really enjoyed the food, just hoping to get better service next time. read more

Dexter's is exactly what 50th&France needed. From the second I stepped in the door I could feel the energy. The ambiance was outstanding. The PERFECT place to meet up with friends to enjoy some great food and drinks. The service was incredible---our waitress was able to make recommendations and was very educated on the menu. For appetizers you must try the Salmon Roe, Wings (the rub is incredible), and Bar trio (the truffle popcorn will blow you away). For salads do NOT skip out on the Green Goddess- the flavor is incredible. For your main entree I would strongly recommend the elote burger and beef tongue pastrami both are unique and will make your tastebuds dance. Finish off your experience with the carrot cake (the frosting will knock your socks off) and the world's greatest espresso martini (it really is the greatest). Don't waste any time, make a reservation and while you're there be sure to use the bathroom-the wallpaper is a vibe! read more
