Be careful, menu notes vegan options but they aren't. Even after clarifying with the waitress when ordering and after bringing out the food, it was not. When mentioning the menu said vegan, one employee said "This is a new property so we're still working out the kinks." No regard or apology for the screw up. Decided to give Devils kitchen a try on a recent visit to Grand Junction. The food tries hard but is overall lacking. It seems that this restaurant would have been perfect circa 2006 when restaurants began focusing more on ingredients but lacked presentation and would try to reinvent classics like deviled eggs. The space is gorgeous but service was spotty. The cocktails were reminiscent of something you'd get from a nightclub, with a craft cocktail price tag. This may be my favorite restaurant in grand junction. The bison tamale stack was absolute perfection. The drinks were on point and our appetizers of the artichokes with chips and deviled eggs were unique and delicious. The ambiance was great, you could come casual or more dressed up and feel comfortable. The portions were also huge. I left there so full and was sad I couldn't manage to try the dessert. We then had dinner in the dining room and Zyz was our server and we loved his personality, very attentive, and knowledgeable of the menu and recommended the most amazing dessert. Get here early and plan to wait a long time for service, drinks and food. If sitting on the patio after sunset, bring a flashlight. The menu is creative and sounds amazing, but a few things were really lacking. 1 star for service/speed - seated 30 minutes after our reservation. Asked for wine menu, and the hostess said the server would bring it. 15 minutes later our server comes by with water and no wine menu. Finally got wine over 30 minutes after being seated. Note to management - empower the hostess to deliver the wine menu. Limited wine selection but could be due to current conditions. Our server was also busing tables and serving food, which is what slowed her down but also should be reconsidered from a cross contamination perspective. The patio was so dark (one candle per table) that people were using the flashlights on their phone to see their food. 5 Stars for the view, ambiance, hostess and manager trying to fix the issues, and he had many unhappy tables. But seriously get some light on that patio (umbrella lights, more candles). 4 stars for food - the wings had no flavor and the bison tamale was chewy and did not live up to expectations. The Beet and hop salad was amazing. The chili was missing it's toppings and looked like baby poo, although had a great flavor and nice heat! We were staying at the Maverick for a night and naturally wanted to experience this restaurant since it was conveniently down the hall from our room on the 4th floor. We got the Devil's Burger and the Bison Tamale and were quite impressed. One of the best burgers we've had, and the bison dish was tasty and unique. Our experience at Devil's Kitchen was outstanding. We had heard great things about the restaurant from some other parents who were dropping off their kids at CMU. We decided to treat our son and his roommates to dinner before we headed back home to California. The staff were very welcoming. The food was great. The house made chips and Monument Fries were delicious. Everyone enjoyed their entrees as well. The Maple Bacon Donuts were a great way to end the meal and easy to share. Great place with great service. We stayed at the hotel for the weekend and literally didn't want to get food anywhere else. They have a variety of options for lunch and dinner. The restaurant is clean, the staff are friendly, the prices are reasonable. It was too cold (and completely booked) for us to eat outside but would definitely want to do that next time. Came here for the first time expecting ok hotel food and was so surprised by their menu and flavors. We were also able to witness quite a Lightning show as the huge windows made you feel like you were in the middle of it. We had the duck fat fries, excellent. Salmon, excellent. Donuts for dessert, crazy good. Everyone from Bartenders to our Waiter, they couldn't have been more nice, says a lot about the management team their. The 2 we dealt with were students at Mesa and the staff should be very proud this, is the type of service they are bringing. They do have a outdoor area but chances are it could be quite windy. Maybe my expectations were a little high. I assumed this rooftop dining experience would be better. And I understand that this is student culinary program, but that begs the question, who's teaching the students? We had a very pleasant waitress. She was lovely. Our hostess was great. Everyone was so nice. The food just wasn't that good. We had two appetizers and drinks and based upon these, we went elsewhere for dinner. The deviled eggs. This restaurant's unique take is to lightly fry the hard hard boiled egg white. WHY. It does absolutely nothing. If I order a deviled egg, the egg white should be chilled. Not fried. Whatever it was stuffed with looked pretty but was also pretty bland. Adding some bacon to the top just added salt but what it needed was flavor. The artichoke appetizer. Steamed artichoke with an aioli and some fried chips. Well, I'm not sure how to classify the fried potato side the artichoke came with, some were more the size of a French fry whereas some were potato chip shape but thicker. Unfortunately the artichoke was not steamed/grilled well. It was undercooked. The artichoke was sliced in half and it seems like the center got some steam/heat exposure but as we moved towards the outer leaves it was too tough and barely edible. The fries saved that dish. My husband noted that it seemed like a lot of drinks use simple syrup vs possibly Cointreau, agave syrup, etc. This comment is more just an idea for the bar. I thought the drinks sounded good. The outside patio could probably use some more plants, greenery, to give it some atmosphere. The building is already very modern and stark, that deck needs some plant touches to make it more inviting. I'm only posting this review because I want this restaurant to improve. This place could be really great. Please do better with the food. read more

This one is our third visit and another excellent visit. We tried the patio this visit and it did not disappoint. It was very inviting with excellent views. The waitstaff was very Attentive and informative. We had a couple drinks that showcase the local wineries and breweries. Dined here to celebrate an anniversary with my girlfriend. We were able to sit out on the patio... the temperature was perfect and we enjoyed an amazing sunset! For an appetizer we had the Monument Fries... highly recommend! We didn't leave any behind, plus the Peachy Mule paired up perfectly with them. I went there three times when I was there and wasn't disappointed any of the times. I had the elk burger which was juicy and flavorful. The fries along with it were crisp and tasty. The decor and staff were professional and took care of you in a friendly way. The regular burger also had good flavor. I tried the zucchini with it and it was flavorful and nice change of pace to have with fries. Absolutely beautiful restaurant. The decor, view, and location is wonderful, but that's about it. The service has been consistently horrible. I really wanted to like this place because I love fine dining, but it sucked every time. The first time I went was shortly after it opened. My family of 5 waited 2.5 hours for our dinner, which was pretty mediocre. The $50 steak (I think it was a ribeye, but can't be sure since it's been a couple years) was ridiculously thin, difficult to get medium rare temperature, and chewy. The ginger & beer chicken was quite bland. Since the restaurant had just opened, I wanted to give it another shot. I went a year later for a friends birthday. We had burgers and fries because it's hard to mess that up. The burger was fine, but fries were burnt. The desserts were good. The service was just ok. He was very short with us and never came to check on us. The last time I visited was Valentine's Day, last month. I was working and decided to get something special for my husband and I to have for lunch. I have a one hour lunch break. I called 30 minutes before my break to order our food. I got there and no one greeted me for 5 minutes. The bar back or busser finally saw me and asked how he could help. He told me he couldn't run my card and would get the hostess. I waited for her for 10 minutes. The restaurant isn't even busy at this point. There's no one waiting and just a few tables. I don't understand why it took 15 minutes to pick up food that was sitting next to the host stand the entire time. I got home with only 15 minutes to scarf down a $75 meal. I can't think of a good enough reason to return here. read more

Totally amazing and lovely staff. I got the vegan menu item -- a gnocchi with pesto and they also had some vegan butter for grilling some of the veggies (I got zucchini and it was amazing).
