I would give it negative stars if i can. I went to see Dr. Xuan Nguyen 2 times so far and the latest being the last time ever. I was extremely uncomfortable with her each time because she was so rude to me. All the other reviews about this doctor being rude and insecure about her skill set is true. She is incompetent, makes up diagnosis without doing any labs, horrible bed side manners. Oh.. She lacks effective communication and when you ask her a second time what she just explained, she will raise her voice and explains you in a subtle 'I don't have time to repeat it' kind of a voice. She told me my hormone levels should be OK and for my hair loss to get better, i need to buy $100 worth of meds exclusively available at her pharmacy. Would have been convincing IF she actually did labs on me for my hormone levels. She never did any labs yet thinks my hormone levels are OK. It makes me come to the conclusion she is incompetent and lacks in her skill set. Her staff was present when this happened and apologized to me for the doctor's behavior. It was that bad. My 5 month old son had extreme case of eczcema and staph infection. I saw Kristina, PA and I also got a chance to meet Dr. Nguyen. They prescribed the right meds that almost completely cleared his condition in a week.After two weeks, his skin was completely better. My father had a horrible time with skin cancer, so when a little bump showed up on my forehead I didn't take it lightly. Finding Dermatology Solutions was truly an answer to prayer. I couldn't have landed in a better office if I had asked for a hundred referrals. Jodi, the assistant, was professional and quick. She welcomed me and really helped put me at ease. Vanessa, the P.A., was incredibly kind and patience. She answered every question and checked often with me to see if the costs were going to work in my budget. And Dr. Nguyen was thorough and equally kind, taking time to answer questions as well. I'm so thankful to have found this office. I am giving this one start just because of this particular person that we saw. She was blonde and I believe her name was Vanessa. I went with my friend to her appointment and was Also interested in making an appointment for myself. Vanessa was extremely rude and condescending. She made us feel like every question we asked was totally ridiculous. She insulted my place of work. And then asked me "are you doing anything to treat your acne?" I was a patient of this office for a 7 months, I visited this office and interacted with its staff monthly so this will be a detailed review. Dr. Xuan Nguyen saw me the first couple visits and I was uncomfortable with her each time because she was so rude to me. During the initial visit Dr. Nguyen went off on me because I told her I didn't want to be put on the same tried and failed medication again and wanted to try a different treatment. Before she came in to see me for the first time, I had told her nurse everything from med history to what I had done as far as treatments. I guess her nurse did not fill her in before she came to talk to me and then blew up on me because she was uninformed. It was humiliating as her nurse was watching the entire ordeal and you could tell she felt bad for me. I almost did not return to this office after the first visit but decided to let it go and commit to my treatment. 3 months into my treatment and without a notice or comment, PA Vanessa Michaels took over as my doctor and I had no issues with her. Vanessa was nice, willing to listen to my concerns and professional, I finished out my treatment with her with no problems. This office is unorganized, they have 2 nurses and I never saw the same one for more than two consecutive visits making me, as a patient, feel unimportant. Each month prior to my appointment I had to complete blood work tests at a lab and the results were sent to this office but somehow each time I came in for my appointment they never had my lab results ready and always asked "did you get your labs done?" This, to me is extremely unprofessional. Also, whatever concerns I told them, they never seemed to notate anything and would ask the same questions each and every time as if they don't have a clue about you. All the appointments were very quick and rushed, maybe 5 minutes worth of talking to a person yet they billed my insurance quite a bit on top of my co-pays. Dr. Nguyen, I know you're "the doctor" and I never once questioned that because I came in to seek help from you but I know my skin and body better than anyone else, after all I lived with skin condition for 10+ years. I picked you out of hundreds from my insurance provider list because as a fellow Vietnamese I wanted to support you but you were very disrespectful and uncaring. You lost me as a patient. read more

A nightmare!!!!!!!! My appointment was for 4:15. I arrived at 4:00. the waiting room is tiny and cramped with standing room only. At 4:20 I was called back to a room. The girl (Jody?) was nice as she took some information. When it was already 4:55, I peeked my head out of the door to ask if the doctor will be in to see me soon and the girl said I was next. Well, I guess the girl told the doctor I asked about her, I mean, I thought they forgot about me . The doctor , Dr. Nguyen, came in and immediately said to me in an angry tone, "I see real critical care cases here that need my immediate attention , that is why you had to wait." I was shocked at how she spoke to me. I started telling her my issue only to have her shut me up and say she did not want to hear what other doctors told me in the past (I have been suffering from my issue for 16 years). I told her that there was a certain cream that really helped me and she absolutely refused to listen to me. If I tried to speak, she yelled at me. I had to hold back the tears. I could not wait to get out of there. Dr. Nguyen was very condescending and nasty and had no patience at all. I will never go back. And after all that, she prescribed some OTC cream that did not work. What a joke. She should go back to medical school and go to bed side manner school. read more

Very disappointed in everything about this practice. Felt very rushed, also felt that the doctor didn't listen to me at all. Second visit, again rushed and not being heard. Third visit, saw PA. Treatment plans discussed. Never heard from the office except regarding expensive laser treatment. Went on the patient portal today to look at treatment/medical records. The office initially prescribed me a drug that was extremely out of my price range. When I called back for an alternate prescription, the office never returned my call, despite verbally promising to do so with an update on my prescription. A week later, I called back to check in to see if there was something wrong with said medication. Only then did they inform me that they had prescribed an alternative and discuss treatment with me. When I went to pick up the new prescription, I found they had yet again outlandishly prescribed me something without my knowledge, in addition to the medication they had discussed on the phone with me. By this point, I was extremely frustrated with the office. I immediately called back to inquire my medication situation, only to receive minimal explanations and platitudes. I asked to remove myself from their care, and was hung up on. Though in the office I was treated professionally, by Dr. Nyugen, I have received nothing but rudeness and ineptitude by reception and staff over the phone. In short, great doctor, but awful staff that turned a satisfactory experience very sour. read more

I was a former patient of Dr Nguyen's so I went to see her at her new practice. The office itself is nice and the appointment was great. However, 6 months later, I am now getting a bill for $400. The experience with the billing manager is hands down the worst experience I've had with a doctor's office (and I am a nurse). When I called, upset about my bill, the manager told me "it's actually not a lot of money" and "well, if you went to the ER you would pay $500 for a chest X-ray." Then she told me she didn't need my attitude, because I pointed out that it may not seem like a lot of money to her because she doesn't have to pay it. An update (3/2016): Dr Nguyen was willing to work with me and reduce the amount I owed to $200. She is an exceptional doctor and I don't question her expertise or her character. I stand by my statements about her billing manager, as the above is word for word what was said to me. To sum it up: excellent MD/very poorly run office. I will certainly go back if/when Dr Nguyen gets rid of her poisonous billing manager. read more

I've been through many dermatologists before coming here, and this one has been quite the solution for me. Other dermatologists would forward my prescription to the nearest Walgreens and my co-pay would be ridiculous! At Dermatology Solutions, they understand how expensive these topical creams can be, and they recommended us to a specific pharmacy where our co-pay was close to nothing! We have been to quite a few different types of doctors throughout the years with our children and by far this was our worst experience with a doctor/dermatologist that we've ever had. My wife waited in the exam room for almost 2 hours and were able to see the doctor or nurse for less than four minutes in total. They did a five-minute test that took over 35 minutes to get the results for. The doctor finally talked to my wife when she decided to leave. She explained absolutely nothing about what my daughter's diagnosis was and what we will need to do in regards to the medications. Unreal! Stay very far away from this office. read more

I made an appointment to drain a cyst I have. I made that clear to the receptionist when I called. I already knew what it was. I wasn't looking for a diagnosis. When I got there they confirmed what I already knew and said I had to come back to have it drained. What??? That was the whole reason for the appointment. They charged me $100 just to tell me something that I already knew. Then they said it would be an additional $500 for her to drain it. So $600 to drain a tiny cyst. That is ridiculous! They could have easily done it right then but then they wouldn't make as much money. I even told them that I have 5 kids and it's almost impossible for me to find a sitter to get to the doctor and that it would be very inconvenient to have to come back. I've been seen since August 2016, with follow-ups every few months. Each time I return, the doctor asks me the same question: did we do blood work? It was the very first thing I told her when I became a new patient; my PCP referred me to her after doing blood work. I'm not sure if she keeps forgetting or doesn't care. She "forgets" about other things such as which medications I'm taking or stopped taking. Today I had to actually say "Remember we talked about this last time?" Either she doesn't study charts or seriously forgets patients. Each time I come in, she brushes off my concerns and goes straight to something completely different. Even after I tell her my specific symptoms, she relates it to something else. Today I was concerned when she wanted to order a weird test that I had no symptoms for, so I had questions. After conversing for a bit, she told me that I need to do it and actually stormed out the door, leaving me with the assistant! She later returned after a few minutes and more calmly told me I need to take the test. I've never been treated this way by ANY doctor. The assistants are nice, but she is very strange to deal with. Today was the icing on the cake. I will be taking my business elsewhere. read more

I brought my 4 year old son in for an appointment yesterday. He is a child with anxiety and very modest so he was already nervous about lifting up his shirt for the dr to see the spots on his stomach. I made sure the physician's assistant was aware of this before the appointment began. The physician's assistant began by talking to my son and asking him questions to get his mind off of the appointment. I thought she was nice and this was a good tactic. However, once she asked him to see the spots, he immediately became anxious and put his hands down so we were unable to lift his shirt. He began crying and the physician's assistant could sense it might be difficult to get through to him so she asked Dr.Nguyen to come in to assist. Dr. Nguyen came into the room and was great. She began talking to my son and asking him questions about his favorite animal, made reference to his sandals, etc...She was kind. My son was responsive and calm and answered her questions. Once she asked to see the spots on his stomach he again became defiant. He was screaming, crying, and would not let us lift up his shirt. Dr. Nguyen raised her finger at him and ith a raised voice said " You will NOT act this way in my clinic! It is unacceptable. We aren't touching you. Your mom is being nice to you". Being a child with anxiety and already being so upset, this did not help my son or the situation. Dr. Nguyen managed to get a quick look at the spots and her and the physician's assistant began to walk out the door. Halfway out the door she said to me "we'll be back mom". I never saw Dr. Nguyen again. The physician's assistant walked in to give my the dx and sent us on our way. I was in shock and so upset about the situation. I walked out and paid our $40 co-pay and burst into tears the second we got outside. My son who obviously has trouble with new people and anxiety will now never forget this experience and will be scarred at future appointments. Thought NEVER at Dermatology Solutions again. While my son's behavior was difficult, a pediatric doctor should never retaliate against a 4 year old child. HER behavior was unacceptable and this will be a moment my son or I will never forget. read more

I am not a person who usually writes reviews and have never written a negative one. This is even hard for me to write because I am trying not to write from a place of anger. I took my 5 year old daughter to Dermatology Solutions for a 2nd opinion on treatment options for a skin virus. I decided to go to this office since they say they are only one of the few that treat children (I had first taken her to my derm). We saw Vanessa and she told us we could repeat the treatment the first office offered or we could have the bumps (that are caused by the virus) numbed and removed and be done with it. My daughter was terrified but the Dr came in and gave a demonstration scraping her nail against my daughter's skin and telling her it would feel like that. I was told there would be some blood and that parents are usually upset by that. My daughter agreed to do the scraping and I was glad because I just wanted her to not have to deal with it any longer. So they applied the "numbing" cream and a few minutes later the Dr. and 2 other staff people came in. They held he legs while the Dr. began removing them. I can not express the screams that came out of my daughter. The Dr said "she is just scared". Fortunately there were not many for them to remove so even though it felt like an eternity the Dr finished in just a minute or two. I blame myself for subjecting her to that. I will never forgive myself, I just really thought this would allow her to be done with it. But it was not the end, in fact we were back in there office the very next day because not only did more pop out but she now had a rash. I have done a TON of research on this skin virus and I have read repeatedly that scraping is not usually done on children because of the pain and scars it leaves. I'm disappointed that this was offered and I'm even more disappointed in myself for not knowing more about this virus. I am certain the Dr. and staff meant to help and in fact this is a viable option for clearing the bumps but it is important to explain that this will not rid the body of the virus and it will cause pain and scarring for the child. This was absolutely not explained to me because there is no way I would have chosen this as a treatment option. It is two months later and we are still dealing with the virus and trying to heal the scars (one of which will definitely always be there, it is deep). read more
