Dr. Dathan is awesome! He has a very confident and comforting personality. He's been seeing my kids for a few years now and has always given us a choice of what type of care we want to proceed with. Would not recommend as a new patient - don't waste your time. This company pays for sponsored Google ads. I did a quick google search to find local derms who specialize in a particular treatment. Saguaro came up so I called. I described what I was looking for to the lady on the phone only to be dismissed and hung up on. She wanted me to see the first avail provider dismissing my ask for a specialist. When I ask to confirm if the office and particular provider or anyone at the company specialize in this treatment, she said no and hung up on me when I told her that's what I was looking for and why I started with a clear description of what I was looking for. TRACY IS AWFUL! I definitely wrote a review about my horrible experience last year and somehow it's no longer here! So with that being said let me write this again. Last year I received microneedling from this location. My results were horrific I still have a slight scar on my right cheek with jagged texture . I had so much acne for months mind you my skin had no acne before this procedure and I've had it done other places with no problems . Maybe this company doesn't know how to deal with African American skin. I went somewhere else to get chemical peels and it helped tremendously, my skin is almost normal again besides the slight scar. Anyways once I wrote my review the manager at that time contacted me immediately made an appointment for me to see the dermatologist & they were able to give me some prescriptions. She was so kind and even gave me 2 free facials whenever I wanted to book Them . I obviously wasn't going to go back there until I had my skin figured out. It was a traumatizing experience. Now that my skin is better I tried to book my 2 facials today & even asked when booking them if they were still available & she said yes and booked my appointments . So an hour later Tracy the practice manager calls me & was already defensive for whatever reason! Telling me there's not really any notes and that after 6 months those are no longer good and said she didn't know what happened so I can't have those appointments! She was aggressive for absolutely no reason! It was unnecessary I had to tell her I wasn't trying to argue because she was already confrontational off the bat. I was letting her know my skin was ruined and in a snotty and sarcastic way she said "I'm sorry your skin was ruined." That was the worst customer service I've ever experienced in my life. Especially coming from a manager! The crazy part about it is I would have been understanding from the start but this company obviously needs better communication and if these are the type of people who run this business, best of luck to you! read more

Not very professional to say the least. I went in and they "sent" to Sonora quest a standing order. Once I went to Sonora they said it was not a standing order and that they needed an end date to have that. I called several times. The first time the lady said she would look at it and send over a correct standing order. Nothing has ever showed up. The other thing was my son went there and let the male dr know the several things he was there for. The dr said he could only do one thing at a time and to make another appointment. I have never heard of a dr doing this. Looks like they just to make more money by having you come back in. read more

When I asked why he stated he was unable to locate a suitable billing code to submit to BC/BS. My husband and I have been to Saguaro Dermatology multiple times now and have had the best experiences! I've been for multiple issues but by far my favorite are the anti aging remedies that they prescribed. I'm about due for an annual checkup so I'll be back soon. I always recommend Drs. Do not come here! They will charge you and not notify you or even send you a bill. I asked the derm how their billing process works and his words were "we do not bill, whatever you owe is due when you leave." So when I was checking out the receptionist told me I only owe my copay. Well, I check my bank statement the next day and was charged $245. Keep in mind, I had to call 3 separate times to even see what I was charged for. $105 of it was for a new patient visit when I have insurance and went in for an annual skin check COVERED under insurance. I've never had a dermatologist charge me a new patient fee like this when I have insurance. Going elsewhere in the future. read more

The doctors are great. They are very willing to help and figure out my skin and allergy problems. The front girl who tried to schedule my patch testing is another story. This front girl (Amaya) scheduled my patch testing appointment completely wrong. They didn't order my patches to come in. I left work to get this done and it wasn't scheduled properly so they told me to come back later in the day. The medical assistant did end up placing my personal products on anyways. This was a huge inconvenience that could have been avoided. The girl who scheduled me had an awful attitude, she was dressed in sweatpants, seemed like she didn't want to be at work, very monotone voice. She kept having to ask someone else how to schedule the patch allergy test appointments. She didn't get it correct. Maybe they need to retrain or have people read through notes prior to scheduling incorrectly. I would recommend this place for the doctors but not for the office people. read more

I initially left a glowing review but after my recent experience I cannot. If you need any kind of female anatomy care just go see a gynecologist dr dathan hamann should not ever be doing them. He was smug and kind of awkward maybe on the spectrum? I don't know / don't care. But I'll be getting a second opinion from a gynecologist who isn't afraid to exam a woman and doesn't use his cell phone phone flashlight to see better. That was absolutely bizarre. In addition to this I was misdiagnosed and therefore was told to use a product that would never fix what I actually was correctly diagnosed for. The ointment they had me used only masked the itching. And I was told to use on an area it shouldn't be used. I did talk to the office manager and she was sympathetic and told me they would be discussing with HR. So disregard the nice reply below they stay up regardless of edit. No I will never ever return. Nice try tho. I plan on filing with the medical board over the use of his phone flashlight. read more

I've been searching for a trustworthy dermatologist in my neighborhood and I am so happy to have found Saguaro Derm and Dr. Hamann! I booked a visit at their Phoenix office for an annual skin cancer screening. (Spoiler alert - no cancer here!) It was my first skin cancer screening so I wasn't sure what to expect, but the process was easy and painless. The screening itself was pretty fast but still felt thorough and I was able to get all my questions answered and all of my "questionable" moles looked over. I felt very comfortable with Dr. Hamann and his assistant, and the office staff were pleasant to work with. They have safety protocols in place for COVID, including mandatory masks, hand sanitizer stations, and wiping down everything in the lobby in between clients. I'm grateful for the emphasis on safety and I'm looking forward to returning in 12 months for my next screening! read more

I started a new job and had new insurance so I had to go to a dermatologist that accepted my insurance. I'm so happy I did. I went to see a dermatologist about a couple of bumps on my face. Well when I pulled back my hair he noticed something else. The doctor was fixated on the LLP he discovered and prescribed a topical steroid. When I asked about the big red bump in the middle of my forehead he didn't want to do anything. He thought it might be cancerous. Well doc why didn't you do a biopsy? The doctor I went to today knew exactly what it was and got me an appointment with their associate in their other office to fix it and 2 others on my face. Guess what the doctor at Saguaro missed? A bump on the side of my nose of which he took a biopsy right away. He suspected basal cell carcinoma. I do not recommend these docs, I'm sorry to say. read more

I had an appointment Monday for a routine mole check. Before I selected this dermatologist I called my insurance company to make sure they accept my insurance. When I booked the appointment I was told they accept my insurance. When I arrived for my appointment I'm told they do not accept my insurance. WHAT?!?!!??!! I explained to the receptionist or whatever she was everything that led up to me booking the appointment AND that I was told by someone at the office that my insurance is accepted. She said she doesn't know who I spoke to but my insurance is not accepted. I called the insurance company while standing in front of her and was told that my insurance IS accepted!!!! I then handed her my phone and asked him to repeat what he just told me. FYI, I have Cigna Insurance not some fly by night, 3rd world country insurance. The 3 stars is for the nonsense that happened at the front desk. The actual time spent with the doctor was fine. I was not kept waiting in a cold room for 45 minutes. He was polite, professional and thorough. I will book with him again and would recommend him. I also recommend getting the name of the person you talk to when booking your appointment. read more

I've had some unpleasant annual skin cancer checks in the past, but my experience at this office has restored my faith in dermatology practices! They are currently taking all covid precautions (including temperature checks when you come in for your appointment). This office values your time and they work smoothly and efficiently - I had almost no wait which is amazing considering that I was a new patient. I have been a patient of Dr. Dathan Hamann's for almost over a year now. I have always had anxiety about dermatologist, being that they prescribed medications that didn't suit my lifestyle or were outrageous. However, I want to say that Dr. Hamman has surprised me with his care and professionalism. My skin a year ago was breaking out due to hormones, and my acne was painful, inflamed, and embarrassing. My husband and I are snowbirds and needed new dermatologist in the Phoenix area. We called Dr Daman Hamann at Saguaro Dermatology and got an appointment the next day. Dr Hamann greeted us in the lobby. He saw my husband first who has considerable sun damage on his face. He was thorough with the exam, explained what he was seeing and firm with my husband about protecting his skin from further damage. He was personable and kind and felt reassured that we had found the doctor we needed. I was next and he gave me the same personal treatment. We are so pleased we found him and his friendly staff through the Internet. He is young but that's an advantage as he has current education and degrees and certifications. I went in for dandruff and a rash. Dr. Carsten Hamann didn't even look at my scalp and claimed I just needed dandruff shampoo. I don't like that he didn't look before making that claim. Then the billing person for Saguaro Dermatology said I didn't have a referral and that I would have to pay the $300 because I didn't send a referral to them. Very unhelpful staff and experience.
