I visited this combination car storage/car museum/members only club/public restaurant for lunch a couple of weeks ago with a small group. It is in a large 3 story new building with ample free parking room. Inside on the first floor are about 100 cars from new Rolls Royces to vintage Ferraris, Jags, Mercedes and even US made in Detroit iron. All of these cars are privately owned by people who don't want to store them at their homes. Here they are kept in a climate controlled and secure location and are available to the owner any time during business hours. They also can get cleaned, oil changed, etc. There is also a portion of the building on the upper floor reserved for club members so they can drink and eat while overlooking their machines. Prices for car storage and club membership are not cheap. They do offer 30 minute tours of the car floor for $15 which I took part of. I found it interesting and worth the cost. They even have a barber in the foyer entrance giving haircuts! On the other side of the building on the upper floor is the restaurant open to the public. The restaurant also overlooks the car floor so diners can eat and enjoy the view. I ordered the Roasted Yardbird entree for $25. It came with cheddar grits and broccolini. It was served barely warm hence the 3 score. I would consider returning but also thought the menu is slightly overpriced. This place was built for car enthusiasts who have money. We went there with the intention of the whole experience. Food and Cars. When we were seated our server Abby was very polite. She took our drink order and when she brought it out she had can drinks on the tray. That was the first issue. A restaurant with these prices should not bringing out cans. Come on owners and managers - do better The food was average- not much flavor on any of it of all 3 dishes we ordered. The fish was greasy, the chicken fried steak was greasy, the burger was the only thing finished. Too much money for what we were presented. I do reviews all over and I really wanted this to be a good one. The reason I am giving it 3 stars was the burger and for Abby's service. There were a couple families with kids but mainly adults. It is a smaller dining area and reservations are recommended To tour the cars it is $15 a person, so we did what most of the people in the restaurant did, took pictures from the window. I wish I could give this place a higher rating because the concept of it is so cool. This is the perfect place to take someone if they love cars, but I'd probably stick to the tour only and skip the food. The tour is $15 per person and was very informative. The food is where they lost me. The dining area is very small so despite being just two of us on a random weekday, we still struggled to find seats at the bar. The menu is pretty small, but I opted for the brisket grilled cheese, and for an appetizer, we got the potato wedges. The potato wedges had absolutely no flavor. The brisket in the grilled cheese lacked flavor as well. For my drink, I got the blue ribbon margarita, which was delicious. I'm glad to finally have checked this place out, but unfortunately it wasn't anything to rave about. read more

Amazing food and service. We were served by Gabrielle and he was very professional and helpful in selecting our drinks and food. He created two drinks from the bar that were seriously two of the best custom cocktails I've ever had! A white chocolate martini and a blueberry lemon drop. Omg. Food: the menu is being rewritten so two items I wanted to try were no longer available. Though I was disappointed that the options were no longer available, the cajon pasta was still a show stopper for me! We finished with a tour and our guide knew so many interesting facts. Entering the building for the first time, we were not sure what to expect the entire button floor has cars. They do tours every hour for $15 / person to walk around see the cars and have a guide to talk about them with. (We did not complete this). The upstairs is a resturant and to the right a members only bar. We ate at the resturant and were able to sit overlooking the cars. The inside smells like tires / oil smell, faint but present. We had appetizers and a drink. The food was good. I was not a fan of the quest, it had a very pungent taste. The grilled wings were good. The kids noodles were good. This weekend was a very special which was for my Dad. Personally I think he's a car guy but more towards German cars especially Mercedes Benz. To start off the birthday weekend, I decided where to eat and see cars, I knew just the place: Derby- Houston. Walking in the venue, it was massive. First floor was the showroom with the cars. We just looked from the outside and did not do the tour. Eventually we walked upstairs where the restaurant is. Nice layout and modern feel. After being seated, we ordered a few things off the menu: the brisket queso, Sriracha bbq wings, main course was the wagyu burger, grilled cheese, Cajun pasta and dessert we shared the tiramisu. The appetizers were really flavorful, cheesy queso and the wings packed lots of flavor and kick. I did share to try a little bit of each entree. The wagyu burger was juicy and tender. The grilled cheese was flaky and cheesy on a nice buttery toast. The Cajun pasta packed a nice amount of chicken, noodles were thick long and the sauce brought it together with the Cajun spices but not necessarily a hot spice. Finally the tiramisu was light and delicate. A nice finish to the meal. Overall my experience at Derby is a solid one. The food is good, atmosphere is nice, staff were very welcoming especially our server Brie, and the cars too. I find this to be a nice setting for 2 individuals like date night or a business meeting. I noticed there was more seating around that layout. *Just some small points* We also ordered the seafood empanadas and from my take, there was more flaky breading to seafood ratio. It was ok but a bit minimal in that aspect. Our seating arrangement was a bit crammed as a group of 5. And we were seated away from the window views of the show room next to the bar. Lastly I believe tours are $15 per person so it did deter us from looking into it. And Derby being a bit of a trip is something to consider as well. I am leaning towards saying more of a 4.5/5 because of the little points. Also I would consider my points for a future visit so I am more aware but the visit was still more positive even with the little critiques. read more

My first time visiting Derby and I was blown away. Derby is a dining experience unlike any other. Got invited to a 40th bday dinner here and it was a great experience. Ample parking and you can't miss the sign outside. When you walk a series of things will greet you, from the barber salon (which I don't know if it's just for show or active, to the big seating area and then the vintage cars. The restaurant is upstairs and looks over on the cars in the show room. You can take a tour (but u have to sign a waiver first) of the cars which takes place every hour for half hour and costs $15 where a staff will show you around and give info on all the cars. Really cool. Dinner was lovely (Matt's bad a** bacon is the one to try) and the vibe was right, our server wasn't really a talker but he was ok. Got our meals right on time and even got some tea with honey and lemon on the side for one of our friends that wasn't feeling well. They have a game simulator and cigar bars, also private poker room but you need membership for these. It was a great experience and meal. We came here earlier today for my boyfriends birthday. Just know if you come during brunch hours you HAVE to get brunch. Our waiter was a little rude, didn't even tell us his name. I asked to have the biscuits and gravy without onions and he said that it wasn't possible. Derby is a a car showroom/garage where fancy & classic cars are kept on the 1st floor. You can tour the current cars on the floor for a $15 fee per person, lasting about 20-30 minutes. The tour is not required to go to the 2nd floor restaurant that overlooks the showroom floor with glass windows. I was confused if reservations were required via their website, so I made reservations. Reservations are not required but highly encouraged for parties of 3 or more. The vibe is laid back, attire seemed to be laid back as well. The customer service was great from the host to the waiter. The food was good & portions were big. We decided to visit Derby Resturant of Houston. It's actually a very nice spot. It's a car club where we people store there "expensive" cars and they made it into a resturant where you can enjoy a car tour for 15$ if you'd like. If you are a member, you get more privileges such private party room access and etc. They have plenty free parking. We were greeted when we walked in and sat immediately. They close at 9 and last car tour is at 8 so plan for a early night. We started off with drinks and Appetizers. Another restaurant with NO HENNESSEY. But the drinks we had were refreshing and pretty good. The Appetizers were fire!!! Them wings, bacon, and Gumbo were amazing. For the entees we were not hugely impressed. I got the fried pork... just tasted like alot of planko...I sent it back The past was okay but very spicy. Customer service was pretty good. I would go back and tear up them Appetizers! We were seated in a circular booth near the bar area. The seating was comfortable but the table was kind of small for more than two people. There was not that many cars as we thought there would be but the cars that they did have were nice. The area is members only to actually go inside and see the cars up close and personal. I believe once time passes there will be plenty of cars to admire to add to the atmosphere. Now onto the food. The food came out quick. The bacon was bomb!!!!!! I would come back for the bacon alone. The French toast was good but wasn't anything special. I was hoping to taste more " tiramisu" but I barley tasted any espresso. My husband enjoyed his veggie omelette with the addition of sausage. I tasted it and it had great flavor without being too salty. I enjoyed my fish and chips but the slaw was the best part! The dressing was flavorful and not overpowering. This was a very cool place to have lunch for a cat lover! We went for lunch on New Year's Eve and there weren't many people. The service was very slow our alcoholic drinks were brought before our daughter's lemonade. We ordered about 3 appetizers and a meal and asked for everything to come out together. It did not the wedges and crab cakes came out first then the wings and when we were done with that we were still waiting on the entree. I will say the wings were delicious! The crab cakes were fried too hard, the wedges and broccoli needed salt. My hubby said the dirty rice was good and the salmon was ok. It you want to take a tour downstairs of the cars it's $15 per person. They also have a golf and race car simulator. Our waitress was very nice and kept apologizing for the long waits. My husband and I recently visited this unique restaurant, which was his first time there, and I had high hopes given its reputation and intriguing concept. We made an online reservation the day before, and upon arriving, the venue looked amazing--truly a dream for any gearhead. The collection of vehicles downstairs was stunning, and it was clear this place had a lot of character. We were greeted warmly by the host, who confirmed our reservation. However, our first table left something to be desired--it was crammed between two large parties, making it feel a bit too noisy and tight. I politely requested a move, and the host was quick and accommodating, finding us a better spot against the glass where we could actually enjoy the view of the cars. This was a lovely touch and made the atmosphere feel much more special, given the occasion. While the setting was lovely, the service left room for improvement. Our waiter didn't introduce himself and didn't provide much interaction beyond dropping off water. It wasn't until the host returned to check on us that we realized we had been left without any attention for a bit. Once the waiter did arrive, service improved, but the initial lack of engagement was noticeable. As for the food, I have to say the truffle fries were incredible--definitely a highlight, along with the bacon, which was cooked to perfection. However, one thing I would caution about is that fries are included with most meals, and while they are great, it would be nice to have alternative side options to go with your dish. Not everyone may want fries with everything, and it would have been nice to have a few more choices. The real letdown, though, was the tour experience, which is what I had been most excited about. There was no mention online about how to go about scheduling a tour, so when we arrived, I asked the host, who was quick to explain the process. We then submitted a request via the app, but no one got back to us during our entire meal. After dinner, I went downstairs to inquire, only to find out that not only were the tours not running as expected, but the next available one wouldn't be for another two hours. It was disheartening because we weren't about to hang around for that long after our meal. I would strongly recommend checking in with someone about the tour schedule before you arrive if that's something you're planning to do. All in all, the food was great and the venue itself is a must-see for car enthusiasts. But if you're hoping for a tour or have specific timing needs, be sure to clarify those details beforehand. Firstly, we thought you could tour and look at the vehicles downstairs, but it's only if you pay a membership fee. The restaurant is upstairs, and although the ambience was pretty, the food left a little to be desired. For apps, we ordered shrimp and calamari and truffle wedges...no seasoning AT ALL. When I told the server this they claimed that the sauce was supposed to add the flavor but it didn't help. Lol okay. For the entree, he ordered a Wagyu burger w/fries and I ordered Spicy Chicken Sandwich with fries...same thing...NO SEASONING! Except for the entree's fries which was weird. My boyfriend ate his food but I left mine almost untouched. The server returned and saw the untouched food and asked me about it, and I told him that I was still unsatisfied with the meal and there was a lack of seasoning. He said he would talk to the manager and ask if my barely touched meal could get discounted...huh?? I have never heard of that before! Usually it's taken off the bill especially if 90% of the food hasn't been touched. The manager came out to ask about the food, and I told her exactly what I told the server and she offered to get the kitchen to make something else, but I told her, "To be honest, I lost my appetite." What a fun date night spot! Hubby and I actually came during the day as a little lunch date and it was pretty quiet, but we quite enjoyed ourselves. This is a car club slash restaurant where the restaurant is located on the 2nd floor. First floor has a barber shop and where the car members can park their cars for storage or come fix and clean their cars. It's a really neat setup there. We went upstairs to the restaurant and got seated next to a window where it over looks the whole indoor car garage - they have some really cool look cars stored there. So if you're a car enthusiast, this is the place for you! We had a very friendly staff and walked us through their menu. I opted for the fish and chips and hubby got the wagyu burger. The fish had a really nice batter and was crispy on the outside and flaky on the inside. The chips were very good, paired perfectly with the fish. The tartar sauce had malt and vinegar in it so it was nice and acidic, if you like that flavor. Hubby really enjoyed his burger and said his burger was juicy and tender. After our meal, our server asked if we wanted to take a tour around the country club...how could I say no? On the other side of the second floor, members only, there's an exclusive bar with a big open area with lots of seatings and TV. This pseudo-mixologist went from dropping bottles of lime concentrate to throwing things in the trash. The ice well was empty and seemed runny and there were contaminants in the ice of our water.
