Yes, it's inside the weird black building, go to the second floor past the car show. Food was delicious. We had appetizer of Calamari and shrimp and Meatloaf dinner. Both were really good. I loved the two sauces that came with the calamari. The meatloaf was a tasty sort of sweet and sour sauce with mashed potatoes. Not your traditional meatloaf! read more

My family and I wanted to come here for New Year's eve to finish off the year strong. That was not the case. When we got there, we were seated in a half booth for five people, and knowing we weren't gonna sit comfortably, we asked to sit at a table. They gladly sat us at a table, and this is where everything went wrong. The service was super slow. We had to keep looking for our waitress to come over and refill our waters and ask about the status of our food. We ordered the spinach, artichoke dip, and the truffle fries. The spinach artichoke dip was good however, there was a handful of chips for five people which we did not think was enough. The fries were not seasoned at all. We were wondering where the truffle part of the fries were. We waited about 45 minutes to an hour for our food and we did not get one of our dishes. All of our food was very cold. (The dishes we ordered were: meatloaf, steak, fish and shrimp, a sandwich, and the lamb pasta.) I would have taken a photo of the dishes, but because of how long it took, I gave up. We were missing the meatloaf , some shrimp from the fish and shrimp dish, and two sides which towards the end they did bring. One of us ordered the steak, which was very rare. We asked them to make it medium rare, and they brought back a newer smaller piece of steak, which we thought was not worth it for $40 After waiting another 30 minutes for meatloaf we decided to cancel the order and the manager came by and offered 25% off discount and also remove the meatloaf from our bill and still brought it to us either way. While we were thankful for the discount, that's not what our intent was and we left with a discontent night because of the food. We then asked for the bill which took another 15 minutes to the point where we had to get up and flag our waitress down again and ask for the bill. Don't get me wrong, everyone was very nice and understanding as well, but the food could've been way better. The concept is cool and all but when you're sitting at the second floor, you can't really even see the cars unless you're facing that window side. My family got to do the tour which was $15 per person and took about 20 minutes to tour the cars and take pictures with them which they said was worth it, but myself I would not know since I did not get to go. read more

So 2 parts to this review The Hostess - acted like it was a crime not to have a reservation. Which fine, we were new to dining there. She grabbed menus and casually said "Just so you know, I have to have this table back by 2:30." It was 1:40. I understand reservations and needing to keep tables open. We never asked for a table or complained. She literally said all of this and the only thing we said was we have 2 adults and a child and no we don't have a reservation. Also there is a way to have this conversation without being super rude to guests. But we were prepared to have a quick but hopefully taster lunch. Part 2 - the food saga. I ordered the Cajun pasta which had pasta, chicken mushrooms and spinach. When I ordered I asked for no spinach. (Preference not an allergy). Food was delivered and it had spinach in it. I asked the waiter "Hey maybe I forgot did I ask for no spinach?" He's response was "You did say no spinach." Let me go get it fixed. Great no problem. It comes back and still has some spinach in it. Waiter said "They picked out as much of the spinach as they could (like wait what? Who says they picked through your food?!). But there are no mushrooms." I was like wait I like mushrooms. I just wanted no spinach. The waiter was like but you ordered no mushrooms. No I ordered no spinach. Which is why you took it back to get it with no spinach. So you do want the mushrooms? Yes. He takes it back. Brings it back. Still no mushrooms. A new full bed of spinach on top. I said I'm very confused but I'm just going to go ahead and eat it. Waiter then was rude and said "so what exactly do you want on this pasta?" I said it doesn't matter I'm just going to eat it at this point because clearly there has been some confusion. At no point did a manager visit the table (which is surprising when an entree has been sent back to the kitchen twice). Anyway. I'm just it's ok normally and we had a one off bad experience but I certainly wouldn't go back. read more

Came in on a Saturday after 5:00 pm and there was only a group of four people there. We were seated and attended by Nyzaiah. He was very attentive and we were pleased with his service. The restaurant is spacious and private. My husband ordered a burger and I ordered the brisket cheese sandwich. Both were good in taste and portions. The dress code when we there was very casual. Men were in shorts and polos. As we were leaving a large party arrived. All in all, it was a good experience. read more

Wow and Wow. Hidden Houston gem with premium food and cocktails. Food, service & ambiance were A++++. This was my first time visiting and it has earned my admiration. This place is well rounded for special events, business events & meetings. Inclusive of pool table, meeting tooms, game spaces, a cool hidden lounge, great to unwind, play poker, smoke cigars or catch up with old friends & definitely make some new ones. The views of the classic cars are phenomenal. The grown & sexy dining spaces, with a great music made today a very pleasing experience. The perfect place for a first date, date night or a moment to chill. Did I mention the food was the best ever, everything was just perfect- Try the ribeye' OMG . Derby is definitely a well designed concept for this space. The owner was genius for opening this establishment. Also, the Managers & staff all were phenomenal and informative and so nice. I really had high hopes for this place based on social media posts, but they were very disappointing. When we arrived there was no one at the host stand, after 5 mins the manager comes from the kitchen, to seat us. He tells us Kemi will be our server. After we are seated for several minutes Kemi comes over to introduce herself, and takes our drink order, then returns a little while later to take our food order and that's where the issues start. Kemi, proceeds to say "what can I get for everyone?" as she slides down to sit next to my daughter as if she is going to join us for lunch! We looked like, why are you sitting down, I mean even at Chilis they stand and take your order. When the food arrives, the burger was dry, came with 2 huge tomato slices that were cut unevenly and wouldn't stay on the sandwich. Had fries, but they gave me no ketchup. When I asked the guy said yes; but never came back with it. Kami, comes by to check when we asked her she starts looking around the table like we're were playing hide and seek with ketchup!!! The final event that made me never want to come back was when she came to ask were we ready for the bill while drinking from a plastic disposable water bottle!!! Like you couldn't have finished drinking this before coming from the back to check on us!!! When we spoke to the manager, he looked at us like these issues were normal. The food is representative of Texas portion size. We ordered the Brisket Grill Cheese and Cuban Sandwich (we forgot to take photos). The food was served hot and fresh. First of all, food taste dry. Secondly the worker daniel chased me and my boyfriend down because we didn't tip him and we usually ALWAYS tip but we weren't going to tip this time because he didn't ONCE come to our table to ask if we were okay, and he looked high the entire time, i ordered a lemonade and it tasted SO watered down, so i kindly asked him if he could get me a dr pepper instead and he huffed and puffed, then took his sweet time to come back to our table to give us our receipt and by that time we were already frustrated. We left no tip on the machine he swiped my card with, which he probably thought we were going to give a cash tip but we weren't. rude server. no tip right? no he chased us down the stairs and proceeded to give bs! about how he doesn't get paid enough to not get a tip and how he doesn't want to be that guy. embarrassing. coming from a server who also gets paid $4 so i understand but i would NEVER. chase a costumer down. that's so ridiculous. -0/10 do not come! only good thing about this place is the view of the cars other than that staff is rude and will ignore you and food is 2/10 everything was dry. I found Derby on Instagram and I'm glad I came. I was looking for something for my spouse and I to enjoy with our children for Father's Day and this place was perfect. the food was great, the service was nice, and I enjoyed the ambience. Apparently they have car meets as well so we're going to try to make it back for one of those. we will definitely be back! read more

First impressions last a life time and this was mine. I came in with a party of 13 so I knew everything wasn't gonna be perfect but close enough right? No after getting up from the table so my waiter could hear me he still got the order wrong. Ok mistakes happen no biggy. So after watching my family eat I finally get my steak and again it is the wrong temperature. If you're gonna pay 300 you would expect 5 star service with a mandatory tip , nope. Not only did I still have to pay for the first steak but the second was as hard as two day road kill. And I cant get mad at the waiter because he put in the second order even though he messed up the first and it still comes out wrong. So at this point I don't even want to say anything out fear of getting my food spit in. This over burnt steak has become some of the most expensive dog food I have ever bought. So over priced and with no knowledge on how to cook medium rare steaks I wouldn't recommended this spot to my worst enemy. Gladly would like to never return after this experience, 0 stars if possible. read more
