I arrived to the house with a warning from the city threatening to ticket me if the trash wasn't cleaned up. I called and reported that it wasn't mine and requested the trash and bins (about 8 of them) be removed. After weeks of them closing the case without ever showing up, I started calling daily. The inspector became irritated and called me drunk on his personal cell phone telling me to leave him alone. I called until I was able to get in touch with his supervisor, Erica, who told me he had a history of drinking problems and that he was put on leave. They removed the trash cans without ever speaking to the neighbors. The neighbors came pounding on my door because 311 told them I had requested their cans be removed (not because they were illegally left on the side of my house for months.) Not wanting to be difficult, I spent the next few months moving their cans slightly to the side of my house and picked up the trash and boxes they dumped on the floor around them. About 2 months ago I had enough. I spoke to the neighbors who told me they had lived here for x amount of years and that they will continue to dump their trash there. I called again and reported that the same neighbors were still illegally dumping trash on the side of my house. After about 4 weeks with no news, I got a notice from an inspector that the case was closed and that no action had been taken. Their trash was still sitting outside of my house as I opened this email. I sent pictures of their trash from throughout the weeks, they came and removed 2 cans and closed the case again without giving them any warning. They continued leaving their trash and bins on the side of my house. I called waste management again and asked that they give them a warning at the very least. They told me they won't do anything because this was considered a neighborly dispute. The only dispute is that they are illegally dumping trash on the side of my house- and their department is in charge of removing it and preventing it from happening. I had to get in touch with my city council member who finally sent someone to tell them to stop dumping their trash on the side of my house. It's been 2 weeks and they have not dumped their trash there since. After months of being swept under the rug and jumping through hoops I shouldn't have had to, I finally have a clean area outside of my home.
