If I could put zero stars for this office I would. I'm extremely disappointed with the service I received from this office. I moved to Colorado months ago, and despite reaching out multiple times and even going to this office in person. I received absolutely no help or clear guidance. They failed to update my information correctly and didn't even list that I am currently unemployed, even though I explained that I had worked in another state and have not been paid since. I only received a single one-time payment from them, and every attempt to get clarification or assistance has been ignored or brushed off. The guy said I had a mental impairment even though I have a disability that doesn't affect me mentally. It really made me mad. It's been a frustrating and stressful experience, especially when you rely on Social Security to provide accurate information and support during major life changes. I truly expected better communication and basic competence. At this point, I feel completely let down and unheard. I truly recommend not going to this office. Nobody seems to know how to do their job.... read more

They Do NOT want to help. I went in and called without getting any help and most unfriendly workers that do not want to work.

I called SS main office regarding survival spouse benefits the first of November. I was told the first available appointment was 3 months later. I booked that time. I received a letter confirming the appointment. I had someone cover me at my job while I waited for the call - that call never came. I called SS main office again, who told me to call the local office. I was on hold over an hour - these people just don't care. read more

If I could give the woman on the phone zero stars, I would. She must be local because she knew our town and told us Louisville was the closest office. Got her twice. Didn't give her name either time - rude, condescending, constantly interrupting - but if you dared interrupt her, she would raise her voice and speak over us. When we called her out on how she was speaking to us, she ended the call before our business was completed!?! I get it - not the greatest time to work for any federal agency. Short-staffed, long days with freaked out people - but we were calm, prepared and very polite, despite her nastiness...until she went too far. read more

I waited without an appointment for maybe 10 minutes on a weekday morning and was given all the answers to my questions as well as questions I didn't know to ask. God forbid the government ever runs like a 'business' -- where it's more profitable to eliminate customer service w and steer people only to what is best for profit, not people. read more

2025 - UPDATE YOU CANNOT walk in anymore all bookings MUST be via appointment. The real number in 887-405-5872. The one they have listed is the generic USA number and I waited a total (over 3 days) 17 hours waiting for them to answer. I read the old reviews that you could walk in and that is not the case anymore. As on Jan 14th they only have a security guard and hardly any staff. All the windows were closed. Please be kind to them they are gone though a lot in the last two weeks! I did get though after 15 minutes and they made me an appointment for a months time. read more

0 stars! Only one 800 number can be used for the entire U.S. to make an appointment for your local Social Security office. And, you must have an appointment to see an agent. The government website is useless. read more

I have been calling to make an appointment for weeks now and cannot get through. No menu option to make an appointment. The system either immediately says call back later, or you sit on hold for l15 minutes then it drops you. Very frustrating! read more

I went in with out an appointment to get a benefits letter. I only had to wait about 1/2 hour and they called me in and 15 min later I walked out with my letter. It couldn't have gone any smoother. Thank you. read more

My girlfriend dropped her passport and and application off at the social security office over 2 weeks ago and they are claiming they never received the application. They are rude on the phone and refuse to help in any way shape or form. This office is literally pathetic! read more

This is a 15 min drive from my home! Love this new location- so clean and larger than when it was in Boulder. Checked-in and my ticket stamp was 1:20pm it's now 1:50pm and my number is called. Not to bad. I know I came at the correct time cause they started calling numbers faster. read more

This particular office is amazing. I have had no. Complaints about the wait. If you have the right forms, everything goes much quicker. The reason why I gave this review a 3... the very rude Lisa that answered my call today. You are more than rude, and if you hate your job so much maybe you should reconsider. Lisa, there is a tone that you have just answering the phone, your responses are RUDE AND STAND OFFISH! You did say that your not at this office but answering for the national number I called (website doesn't tell you your calling nationally and not to the actual office). Sorry anyone that has to deal with her today read more

Good Soc Sec Office compare to the one in Lakewood. Waiting time not bad even if u don't have an appointment. Hard to make an appointment through their local number .Phone keeps on ringing. Better to show up in the morning and take a number read more

I had a great experience here. I arrived at 9:10 and there were a few people ahead of me. I was in and out in 30 minutes. Everyone was very pleasant and helpful, and all Covid precautions were being followed. I wanted to submit a review for the people who are looking to go and get their name changed (Whether it is for divorce, marriage, etc.) ! I got married in February and have been dreading coming to the social security office - Especially when I saw earlier reviews for this location saying that people were being asked for a Doctors note in order to get their name changed. Because of this I didn't even want to go to this location and figured I had to go all the way down to the Denver location to get it done. (Sounded like a friggin' nightmare). However, today I happened to be in the Boulder-ish area so I decided to give it a try and went with my 7 month old son. As soon as I walked in, I realized it was incredibly small. Especially for a stroller but it wasn't too busy so it wasn't too bad. I got my number and waited about 30-40 minutes before being called. The lady who assisted me was friendly. I had brought my birth certificate, the already filled out application for name change, marriage certificate and my license. She ended up only needing my certificate of marriage, the application and my license. She printed off a receipt stating my new name, told me it would be in the system by tomorrow so I could go to the DMV then and that my new social security card would be in the mail within 2 weeks! It literally took me 2 minutes of speaking to her and I was done. They were so fast, it wasn't too busy, not as crummy of a location as the one in Denver and I didn't run into ANY issues in getting my name changed. Hopefully this helps those of you who are wanting to go to an office but were worried about the previous reviews. I have no doubt they ran into issues but I did not - Maybe they got more competent employees! Highly recommend this location :) read more

This is your typical government office taking care of those tasks we have to take part in to be part of civil society. I came here on a weekday afternoon-- there is a computer check in, a small but clean waiting room, and a security officer manning the computer area. There were 3 windows with electronic numbers above them along with a hallway where agents would emerge from sometimes to collect a person for their documentation. The security officer was a little brusque, but that doesn't bother me. There was a flat screen announcing the windows and the numbers that were being served next, along with a rolling screen with further information to read and see about the Social Security Administration. On this particular afternoon, there was an elderly lady who was very loudly explaining her concern to the agent behind the window. The agent must have explained the steps to her concern and how to solve it 5 times. She was patient each time and offered her resources to complete the process. The customer wasn't quite understanding everything, but the agent was incredibly patient going over the steps. I wasn't trying to listen in, but the customer was VERY loud. I stepped to my window when my ticket time was called with all of my documents prepared. I asked for a receipt for proof of the document that would be arriving in the mail and she handed it to me, date and time stamped as required. It was a fast and efficient transaction. I'm very glad I went to this location. I was in and out in under 35 minutes. Can't beat that with a stick! Oh, my phone's GPS didn't take me to the "East" part of Pearl Circle. It sent me to a different municipal center of some sort. Be careful and follow the signs. :) read more

The building is nice. I like the Louisville location. I did have to wait for almost 2 hours but once they called my number it was a super fast. It helped that I had all the proper materials for a name change. read more

This is a rating of the Social Security office at 480 Dahlia in Louisville, Colorado. Basically, a typical government office not unlike the DMV where you renew your tags. I made an appointment in advance and had to wait 30 minutes to be called to a window in the back where a person assists you with your request. In my case, it was straightforward and simple. I came prepared with all documents needed to prove citizenship and Social Security status. The waiting room is small and crowded (at least when I was there). There is an armed guard in the waiting area. There are about a dozen windows in a hallway which are manned by agents who advise/inform regarding SSA requests. All and all, not a bad experience. The waiting area is like a bus station, but other than that, the people working there are professional and knowledgeable. read more

In and out in less than 30 min. Both my husband and I needed replacement cards. We pulled 2 numbers, filled out the form and waited less than 15 min. My clerk was very professional and courteous. Husband said the clerk he had was professional and thorough, even found a spelling error on his record from 1974 and made the correction. Great Job SSA- Louisville! They are the backside of the culdesac/ roundabout. Yes, you have to check in at a computer, but the guard was nice enough to do it for me ( and he did it for the guy in front of me). He probably hit two buttons and I was on my way. Time arrived - shortly after 1PM on a Wednesday Wait - 40 minutes Service - depending on what you are coming in for there are two "lines." Keep an eye out for yours. You are still in line, and service still runs in order of who was in front of you, but you have a different set of numbers that begin with a "C" if you are there like I was for a name change. Seats - about 20 - 24, so don't bring your pack of kids. There is NOTHING for them to do there. No games, toys, etc. Please leave your kids at home. Three windows - only one had someone behind it. Pace - surprisingly quick for having only one attendant working at a time. TIP - Have your ID ready. I am surprised how many people did not do this. Name change: Print the form online (you can fill it out on your computer too), bring the Long Form with the application that you should have ordered after you received your marriage certificate in the mail, and your ID. That is all I needed. Entire process took less than 5 minutes. People were pleasant and efficient. Bring headphones if you are like the dips**t who sat next to me while playing something stupid on her phone. Yes, I had a book. Restrooms - One, count 'em, one unisex restroom right up against the waiting room. Door opens straight into the waiting room, no hallway, no corner. No music on in the waiting room or TV to muffle your dirty sounds. Just a note. read more

I know that dealing with government agencies is part of life and we all just have to suck it up. Still, this was one of the worst agencies I have ever dealt with! When I went in the first time the computer check-in system had crashed. It was a Windows PC, it happens, and if I'd have access to a mouse I would have re-started it myself. Being a government agency, however, no one but the computer tech could touch anything, and the computer tech took forever trying other things before finally restarting it (upon which, of course, everything worked fine). Sigh. In the meanwhile, counters opened but couldn't deal with us because we couldn't check in! This all took about 20 minutes. When I get to the counter the lady is friendly and polite, but eager to be done with me. She fills everything in, I check the printout for errors, sign it, take my copy and feel confident that I am now Amy F (changed my name after marriage). That was Thursday, she says by Friday morning I'll be in the system under my new name and can update everything else. The following Thursday (it being my day off) I head to the DMV in Golden... and discover that I don't exist! Back to SS, where I wait 45 minutes to see someone (but hey, at least the computer's working now). Again, the agent is polite and friendly, but insists that the DMV is mistaken. Apparently I show up in the SSA's computer network, so the DMV is staffed by idiots who can't spell etc etc (obviously implied by the agent). I ask repeatedly for him to check in the larger system and he insists repeatedly that they never make mistakes: If I'm in their network, I'm in all of them. Finally he sees that I'm not leaving until he checks, so he turns his screen to show me... and I don't come up in the larger network! Turns out, they entered me into their local system but forgot to press "enter" one more time to make my name change official. So they messed up big time! It was an annoying waste of my time and I never got so much as a sincere apology! Ugh! read more

You do have to wait but once your number gets called, it's very quick. The staff is also very nice and efficient.

Don't go there with a real problem. You will stonewalled. You cannot get an appointment to resolve problems They take 82 + days to send you the wrong information They never return phone calls "within 3 days" The only help you get from the help line is to tell you to go to another office. read more

Long wait -- guess you have to get lucky like other reviewers and have good timing -- I did not. Waited 2 1/2 hours to talk to someone to try and see the status of a request -- all I got was "oh, we've been busy, we'll get to it by the end of the month, blah, blah." This was a request submitted in February of this year. They spend time looking at their computer, pretend they're helping, and then say "so, we're done here and I need to see the next person in line" so essentially you get rushed out. We have a representative working for us (a retired Soc.Sec person) who says they have no clue and are completely wrong. Lucky for us we found her, It's amazing how awful this place is -- a whole room full of people (many sitting on the floor) and as little as two windows open with reps and as many as four - in the afternoon -- maybe they bring in more people so they can actually finish helping all the folks waiting? (most of the time, as you look down the hall, all the chairs in front of the windows are empty, when all these windows could be full of reps helping people, and the waiting room wouldn't be jam packed). Wish there was a negative star, or at least some other symbol that actually matches how I feel. read more

I went to SS to claim survivorship benefits. Appointments were scheduled in a timely manner Dec 11 and Feb 5. On Feb 5 I turned in the documents but didn't feel like the intake worker really understood my case. She did not know what was involved with end stage liver failure. I gave her the benefit of the doubt. On March 15th I login to the SS site and see "Denied" ... Very disheartening. We were engaged for 6 years and my life was devoted to him. We were unable to plan a formal wedding due to his illness mental confusion, hospitalizations (23 just in last year), paralysis, etc. etc. He died on Nov 20, 2018. He would be heartbroken with this decision. We're in our 60s and both paid SS taxes our entire lives. read more

I went in today to do a name change - maiden to married. I was told my passport, marriage certificate, nor my original social security card could be used. I hve been to this office and they have been helpful in 2013, 2014. My parent had a life event was hospitalized with surgery and we needed immed help.
