I waited over an hour for my number to be called. I watched it up on the electronic screen was following it. It was listed up there for the window. Number one that I was sitting closest to the lady behind the glass, decided that she was going to close and go to lunch without even calling another number or saying she was going to lunch so my number was going to be kicked out and I would have to get another number, but I made my way to her window and I told her that my number was up next and I need it to be assisted. Well she put the window back up she assisted me it took all of 20 minutes to get it taken care of, and she was off to lunch, I don't think she appreciated the fact that I stopped her from going to her lunch but I did apologize after all there was a lot of us there and I'm sure a lot of us were hungry and ready to go to lunch as well. I was so impressed with this office! I made an 11:40am appointment to provide documents for a social security direct deposit change in banks. Got there early, was issued a ticket, sat down for one minute, number was called, provided documents, was out the door in less than 10 minutes ... before my actual appointment time. The office was clean, not many people waiting and the staff person who helped me was very professional. This office was friendly and efficient in administering benefits for my brother - who is blind, disabled and schizophrenic. The office address would appear to have them located on Alameda Parkway. Yet, you must get to it off a side street that is not readily apparent. The side streets are first, W Ohio Avenue. Then, W Mississippi Court. Then into a parking lot. Received a phone call from someone who said they were at the "local office". Thick accent. I had trouble understanding him. He would not listen to me and allow me to explain that I had uploaded everything they needed. He talked over me. RUDE and he actually hung up on me!!!! Would not let me explain that I had uploaded ALL of the necessary documents online via their SSA Site. He should be fired. You suck it up and NEVER hang up on someone when you called them in the first place! Horrific customer service. Our taxes pay his salary. Perhaps he should be remided of that. Don't allow someone who does not speak English well work in Customer service. Especially a Man that is rude to women. Might be OK in whatever country he came from, but NOT in our country!!! read more

I was scammed by an imposter in November 2024. I have not received my Social Security checks since November(except for February 2025) I have called the office in Washington DC and got the runaround. I did talk to an agent who said that I would get December, January and February checks in February 2025. I did get February 2025,but not December 2024 or January 2025. I have not received any Social Security check in March or April 2025 I talked to an agent in Washington DC on April 15,2025 who made an appointment for me in the Lakewood Colorado office on the following Tuesday. I went to the office on the scheduled time and was told everything was in order and I would get my Social Security checks on the 3rd of every month as usual. This has not happened I have called Social Security in Washington DC and the agent who made an appointment for me on May 6 2025 I have called to try to talk to an agent and the Social Security agent doesn't answer and the office hangs up on me. I am absolutely frustrated with Social Security office and I need my checks from December 2024, January, March, April, May 2025 That is about $7,000!! I am going to be evicted from my apartment and I have lost my storage with all my furniture and house items and clothes. If I could put zero stars I would. I got not one not two but THREE text messages from the SSA confirming my appointment and my appointment time to get my name changed/new SS card. My appointment was at 11:30. I got there and 11:30 rolls around and my number doesn't get called. Here comes 12:30, 1:30, nothin. I went up to the police man standing guard to ask if I was doing something wrong. He said he would check. THEY SAID I DIDNT HAVE AN APPOINTMENT. I didn't get to have my "appointment" until 3:45 (15 minutes before they close). I don't care if you're under staffed there is absolutely no reason why this should have happened. Theres 30+ people in here and 2 windows open, its almost as if they purposely slow this process down so it makes you NOT want to come in. This is truly ridiculous and the wait times are absurd, the whole process is extremely inefficient as all hell. If you can go to a different place I'd suggest so. On top of that I had a lady tell me I need a routing number for a foreign account that doesnt even use routing numbers, and then proceeded to tell me im wrong when im definitely right. Just come prepared! I went on a Tuesday for a name change, got there an hour before they opened (8:00 am) and was 5th in line. Someone came out 5 min till 9 and announced the lobby only holds 22 people due to COVID restrictions. So the first few people in line were given a number slip and allowed in. The room was packed full of people at 9am and I was called back by a very kind gentleman and sent in my way by 9:10. They blatantly messed up my husbands name change despite us filling out the app perfectly, refused to correct it over the phone (making us resend in the documents), lost my license, and sent my identity information to the wrong apartment number. Then, when speaking with a representative over the phone, he was EXTREMELY rude and said hung up on me mid sentence. I must say I was a bit nervous heading to the Social Security office. I immediately thought it'd be like the DMV. For starters, please look up their hours as they've changed. When I arrived it was very crowded, which instantly made me nervous. The waiting room was FILLED with cranky individuals and all of their children, and their children's children. Since the Information Window was closed, I took my chances and asked the security officer my question (after assuming I had put perhaps pressed the wrong option... which i did). He was so friendly, and voided my incorrect ticket. When the Help window opened, I got in line just to be sure. They gentleman behind the window was so friendly and nice. He actually helped me complete my entire process before my number was called. Hard to believe I was in an out in under 30 minutes! :) read more

Where to start. This whole place could be managed far more efficiently. But they don't care. The bureaucrats are just being bureaucrats and everybody pretty much has to proceed at the pace they have determined. Which is a slow pace. A very slow pace. But would it kill them to have enough seating to accommodate the people and all their screaming children? Awful. Once you get to your window, it's a crapshoot as always, but my guy was a 3/5... It took me three months to get paperwork together that I needed and I paid $45 to make copies of the needed paperwork. I took it to the Lakewood office where a guy in the front took my paperwork, it's been two weeks and they never received my paperwork, somehow my paperwork got lost. I am livid, I have Cancer and takes so much to get anything done. I am right now living on disability retirement of $430 a month, and I can't afford another $45 to make copies, I can't make an appointment to come in because they are not taking appointments at this time. I cannot sit in line, in the heat, cause I might just fall out. I wanted to speak to a supervisor and got transferred to a voicemail, with no return call. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE!!!!!! I want to call the Govenors office and file a complaint. My paperwork should not have been lost, period. I don't see how anyone could be proud to work at this office! read more

I went in on a Friday morning to change my last name to my married name. It literally took 10 minutes from when I grabbed a ticket to when I was out the door! I think I shall file a class action lawsuit against this office for bumbling paperwork, and screwing up my disability case. They cant even count in this office. I recently went to this office to change my name to my married name. The experience was not as bad as I thought it would be. There is a self check in computer when you first walk in on the left. You can get one of four letter number combinations. Some move faster than others. It occurrd to me, afterward, that I should have gone up and pulled a different number. The one I got was for the slow line and there were people after me that were being taken care of before I was. That's not a first come first serve system! read more

Waited three hours to do a name change. Of course you half expect to spend an entire morning there. However, their employee was giving me unsolicited advice on changing my name at the DMV. Social Security is federal government, the DMV is state government. A federal agency should not be vocal on matters pertaining to a state agency. Furthermore, the information he gave me sent me into a panic and when I called DMV they informed me the information he was sharing was completely false on how state would or would not accept my name change. Social Security staffs role is not to advise on state matters. It's especially problematic when the information is simply not correct. Stay in your lane. read more

The check-in kiosk sorts the type of transaction you need so that simple clerical changes are separated from lengthier issues. Social Security/Medicare dropped my mother's part B without her knowledge. We went to the office and everyone was clueless as to why she was dropped. She never filed the request to be dropped and they verified that. They stated she would be reinstated by March 14 as they were going to rush the paperwork through. STILL NO MEDICARE part B. She is 80 yrs old and certainly doesn't need this stress. And trying to get ahold of someone takes HOURS. read more
