This Denny is the slowest restaurant that I have ever been to. Each visit, I have spent 1.5-2 hours in this establishment. The food is okay, however, the service and kitchen is slow. This has been the case mid day and late night. Would not recommend if you are on any kind of timeframe. read more

First time I came I was the only one here, waitress must not have known because I waited 10 minutes before she even came out of the kitchen. She seemed inconvenienced by the fact that I was there and the food ended up taking a very long time. The second time I came it was the closest Denny's on the way to my destination. I figured I'd save about 20 minutes coming here, I was wrong. The waiter didn't seem to have any idea about expediting skills. When I was sat I told him I knew what I wanted and I could save him a trip, instead of taking my order he said "well this group of 6 was here first so let me talk to them first" he then took everyone else's order even making multiple trips to one table before taking the order I already had ready. Once I gave the order, he explained it may take a while to get my drink. I feel kinda bad for this guy, he doesn't know how to work smarter instead of harder. He also sat everyone who came in directly next to each other during a pandemic but I don't blame him for that cause he asked where id like to be seated first. To put it simply, I'll drive the extra 20 minutes to avoid this location in the future. (Edit: I walked in at 7:50 it's 8:15 and I still haven't even gotten a drink yet, I'm changing this review from 2 stars to a one star. I don't know how they have more than that.) read more

Walking home, in the snow, still buzzed from the happy hour that ended around midnight that somehow I forgot to order food at...and what do we have here? Denny's? Well, I'm probably too sauced and hungry to care that it's mediocre diner food served at an unfortunate hour. At least, that's what I was thinking. Wrong. Easily the cleanest, most welcoming Denny's I've been to: non-judgmental and prompt service of a tired and tipsy white dude in a suit, legitimately good decaf coffee, and, well, the Slamwich. My goodness, the Slamwich. Piping hot, crispy toast encompassing a heavenly egg...something? Omelette? Frittata? I don't know, but it was scrambled eggs, maple sausage, and I think something else melded together with a layer of ham and cheese on top for good measure. I finished half of it in under 2 minutes. And the hash browns, while no Waffle House, were cooked perfectly. 1100 calories later, I knew I had just been a part of something very special. I won't lie to you - if I were a third shift chef at a Denny's, I'd phone it in. But there was pride in this Slamwich. Hell, there's a lot you could get away with if you were running one of the only 24-hour restaurants in a not-well-traveled neighborhood, and I'd take it as par for the course and not dock points. But literally every expectation I had was surpassed. I don't take pictures of food in restaurants because I try not to be that person. But I want everyone to feast their eyes on a motherflipping Slamwich done right. As soon as I figure out how to post it. read more

Creative Waitressing for sure ! So I usually don't bother reviewing chains as the food typically doesn't differ but I just had to share my experience at this Denny's. I was in town visiting with my best friend and I wanted to grab a quick bite before getting on the road. We googled what was close and opted to go to this Denny's. The hostess that greeted us was very nice and it was refreshing that there was gospel music playing as we entered, I've never experienced that before. Our server was friendly and our food was as expected and we did not have any issues until it was time for the check to come . First it took a lot longer than it should have for our server Antoinette G to initially give us our check. We waited and looked around for her for 15 minutes. We then asked if it could be split because we both had cards, that took another 10 minutes and then when she returned with the split check she asked us to write the TOTAL amount and SIGN! As everyone knows typically your server processes your card with the total before gratuity and then you write your gratuity in, sign and leave. NOT the case for Ms. Antoinette G, she wanted to make sure you were giving her a tip ! She hovered over us as we wrote, talk about browbeating your customers ! My best friend wrote in her total and I did as well making mine an even number and leaving the majority of her tip in cash. She didn't even allow us to get up from the table before she snatched her cash tip, talk about classless! While I understand this Denny's is not in the best location, you cannot browbeat your customers into tipping you. I have NO problem tipping and have eaten in numerous establishments in the US and overseas and have never had someone ask me write my gratuity in before processing my card. Never again read more

Good late night food! We had a work trip to Stamford, CT in early February. Winter Storm Niko delivered 9-12" to northeast, cancelling flights. I WOULD get home for our daughter's sixth grade play the next night! So we took Amtrak from Stamford (STM) to Washington, D.C. (WAS), on Thursday, and flew American home from Reagan National on Friday. We arrived at Washington's Union Station at 11pm, and got checked into the hotel, next to Reagan around 11:30. We were hungry, but by time we got moving we could only locate bars serving drinks, and no food. Then we received a recommendation for Denny's. It turns out there are only two Denny's in the District. This one is solid... good food, a nice and clean restaurant, and a helpful and friendly crew. We all left with full bellies and an appreciation for a new neighborhood in the District. Thank, Denny's Crew! read more

Look, it's hard getting service staff these days. This Denny's clearly can't. Extended wait to be served and to get coffee. No water brought or offered. Denny's is exactly what you would expect. Long waits on weekends, super cheap food for the same cheap quality. I'm not complaining about the prices at all, but I'd definitely need to knock off two stars for their take out orders. I called to place an order for pick up. I ordered eggs over medium, and received them raw. I mean, the whites around the yolk was translucent, so of course I didn't want to eat it. I wish the portions were bigger with regards to the protein (cmon bacon!) but as previously mentioned, the quality matches the price. read more

I explained to the Chicken Fried Steak ; this was it's Sad destiny, as I choked it down. Service good, a little flighty. But the Manager was Nice, a little shell shocked. The food here is always good - and the service is nice. Been eating here for years actuslly.. but i just for the life of me don't understand why they do not secure the food before a delivery. This is the 4th time I'm receiving my food and it's completely opened and available to the delivery driver. You would hope that someone isn't that nasty as to eat your food out of your bag but unfortunately, it happens. I received my 4th order tonight and by this point I only buy two things: seasoned fries and an everyday value slam. My order of fries literally came with only a HALF carton of fries. I know for a fact they were being eaten because I order this same meal regularly and know the usual amount. I was so disgusted by it that I just tossed the fries all together. Denny's need to ensure that they are protecting people's food by either taping or stickering the containers shut OR ensuring the bag is completely stapled shut to make sure they'll be no tampering. read more

Find me a Denny's with great service and I'll show you you're sitting in a different establishment. Slow, cold unappetizing, and that's just the description of our waitress. The good When we entered we were greeted by some soulful gospel (Hezekiah walker, Kirk Franklin...). I thought this was odd but I figured we were in the south in a black area and there were only a few patrons so I was on board. The bad Our food was did not taste like the great taste I know and love of Denny's. They sold my wife on their seasonal pumpkin pancakes for an upcharge; tgere was barely any flavor in there. Ordered tea, it was lukewarm at best SN who's Luke and why is he a measurement of water temp. The ugly It's November. I am aware winter hasn't come but it hasn't been warm either ... why is the A.C. on? Geez ima catch pneumonia eating here. And this waitress was not attentive at all she would disappear for long periods of time. And there aren't many places to hide when you're one of 4 families eating there. But when a table of young men came in. I saw here about 8 times in the last 15 minutes before I got my check to leave. I guess her crush must've been among them ... read more

I've been coming to this Denny's since it opened and I've had a host of terrible experiences, but today I finally just walked out angry and hungry. I arrived at 6pm and was seated promptly, after 15 minutes I finally saw a server greet two other tables but never acknowledged me and my family. After another 10 minutes, the server took the orders from other tables and still nothing for us. I had 2 starving kids and the server looked past us like we didn't exist. We walked out hungry without an acknowledgment from management. I will probably return to receive mediocre service, I've learned to expect very little from this place. read more

Where do I begin. I won't waste your time talking gibberish so let's get right to it. The Waiter spilled drinks on my grandmother and my mother. Their shoes were wet! The manager was nice and offered to take a percentage off the bill. Cool beans. I didn't think things could get worse from there. Apparently, being clumsy wasn't all our waiter was good at, she was hard of hearing as well. Everyone's order was missing something or wrong with the exception of mine. Which means nothing because everything is wrong when you take a bite of your nachos and get instant heartburn (I blame the chef). The chef must not know what soft scrambled eggs are because they eggs came to the table as if it needed to be folded and sandwiched for an egg McMuffin. The chef also had the nerve to forget the cheese too! The waiter disputed she heard differently. Not too much debate from her though. She eventually left and returned with an empty plate. She stood there as if we knew what she wanted and pushing the plate inches from my mother's face. My mother had to ask her what it is she wanted. Waiter response, "Oh I don't know she told me to come and get the eggs." We had to scrape the eggs onto the empty plate. Oh ok, good to know! If she had brought back those same eggs with sprinkled with cheese and microwaved reheat I would have had a fit! The service sucked altogether. I'm a tough critic but without criticism you can't improve. Updated: I wish I could give this place no stars now. I didn't argue with them but the manager did not take care of the bill as promised for spilling drinks all over us. Now I will never come back here again. read more

It seems, from the reviews that people either love or hate this locations. We've driven by for years most weekends, but when I woke on Sunday, I felt like giving it a try. We went sunday afternoon about 1PM. Four parties ahead of us but was seated in 5 minutes or so. Food came out fast and was great. Diamond J was the best, but all seemed to be pleasant and nice. I couldn't see anyone being treated differently, so don't know where the discrimination against people of color or gays is coming from. We're gay and at least one other table was as well. FIVE STARS!! Will be back. Oh yeah. Great food at a great price. Tip well. read more

Love LOVE LOOOOVE THIS PLACE!! Ok here's the honest review you've been waiting for. Every individual experience is different and if you are a foodie or restaurant goer like me you understand how the quality of the food and service is very important EVERY time. I have been to this Denny's multiple times and whenever I'm in the neighborhood I make sure I stop by for their smoothie is simply AWESOME. Whenever I go I always get greeted with a smile and seated right away, except if it's a weekend where the place is packed but that understandable due to the Saturday brunch crowd and Sunday church crowd. I am very picky about breakfast and after going to places like Founding Farmers and Blue Duck Tavern adding this this place to my go to places says a lot. Let's talk food. I usually order their steak and cheese omelet or T-bone steak and eggs and have yet to be disappointed my food is always hot, and my steak is always cooked to perfection. I substitute the toast that comes with it with pancakes (Yes you can do that at no extra charge... thank me laterJ). I get mushrooms, green peppers and onions to my steak and potatoes, soo yummy. Maybe it's because I understand that this is a restaurant and not a fast food place that I don't go crazy when it's a packed house and my steak takes a little longer. After all it is raw food they put on the grill not precooked. If you want your food in 5 min go to the McDonalds up the street instead. Quality food takes care and time, I'm sure we would all be mad if our food took 5 min but was undercooked. As far as servers go it's hit or miss but I never got a mean or rude one. I tend to believe if you walk in there with a smile, you will be greeted with one in return. The last time I was there the owner even came out to say hello and asked if everything was ok. Which to my surprise was an African American man. Who knew it was a black owned business (that is a plus for me, I love to support minorities owned establishments). Ok this is getting pretty long but I get sooo excited talking about great places with even greater food. I would go here over Ihop any day! No they don't have scrapple but that's not a make or break for me. Give it a try I have yet to be disappointed by this place. Oh and please tip your waiters I had to watch this poor girl go through hell with a couple and their three children. When it was over with, they didn't even tip her! Poor girl kept running back and forth for them with a smile and got nothing in return. That's just not right. read more

I have no understanding why it's only 4 tables seated I've seen over 6 employees and yet it took over 30 mins for a kids Mac n cheese two of the small pieces pieces of bacon and an all American which came without my toast which took an additional 10 mins to receive. the food wasn't even hot. this is by far the worse service in the city they all look and walk like they don't wanna be here. read more

Great service by Lashawn. It was a slow evening our food came quick. Our server was very attentive. Order the double cheese burger (it was greasy) and fries (fresh and hot). This place has been open several months, and I was looking forward to not having to get to Maryland/Virginia for "suburban" food. We were there today with friends from out of town, and this was a complete disaster, a complete failure like I've not seen in many many many years. They seated us okay, but I'd rather have the host speak to us rather than having 2 conversations on the way to the table. Food was ordered. 20 minutes later, manager came over and apologized that we didn't have drinks yet. Promised to expedite. We finally got coffee & soda, never got juice. I went to the kitchen to get straws & silverware. Of the 5 meals ordered, 3 got to the table. Later, person #4 got his meal, and #5 get her meal, though hers was really #3's meal, repeated. Food wasn't good. Mine was so/so, but the other people at the table had all sorts of problems with taste, consistency or missing parts of the meal. Fourty five minutes after this, when we got the bill, I pointed out to the waitress that meal #5 (the grand slam) was charged, but had not yet made it to the table. She said she'd fix it. This "dialogue" with the waitress alarmed the table next to us, until someone at my table pointed out to them that they've just gotten there and haven't noticed the fiasco, and they should notice that not all of us had our food. By then, we'd also spoken to 2 managers, apparently, without much purpose. We finally all 5 got up, stormed out to the cash register to pay. The manager there says "I sure hope you enjoyed everything". Sure, clueless waitress (even if she was new, she could have apologized,or understood that meals were missing) and clueless management; that's a great way to kill a new business. So, lesson learned. On a Memorial Day noon, if you want suburban dining, drive to the suburbs, because this place sure can't be how Denny's stays in business. read more

One early morning in early August, I awoke with anticipation. Later that night, The Cure were playing Lollapalooza in Chicago and I was going to watch their set online, comfortable in D.C. and far away from the mud, sweat, and douchebag tears (okay, may douchebags don't cry to The Cure, but I do). To celebrate "seeing" The Cure in 2013, I engaged in behavior I would have in 1993 and went to a Denny's. On this Sunday morning in 2013 this Denny's was very unlike the ones I went to 20 years ago. It was filled with pleasant parishioners straight out of church and dressed in their finest. To accompany their eating of greasy food (to get the lord faster?), gospel and soul music played in the background at relatively loud volumes (but, hey, it beats Hootie & The Blowfish). And people were actually singing along. Unlike many Denny's I've been to in the past, the bathrooms here were (almost) spotless and the service was spot on. It did take some time to get refills on my sweet tea but the place was packed so I'm giving my server the benefit of the doubt. They all seemed to be in great moods at least. Not surly like many Denny's waitstaff. The food was Denny's quality. So it wasn't the world's finest brunch but the portions were big and inexpensive. While I'm not about to shout "hallelujah" about my time eating here, Denny's put me in the spirit. Besides being difficult to get to without a car, this Denny's is the best I've been to. And with a stomach full of Grand Slam hours later, I enjoyed my concert 1993 style. read more
