This is a chain restaurant so there are no specialty recipes or new things going on. So, The focus should be on customer service. That is where a typical chain restaurant should shine. That being said we were here for 2 hours--1 adult and 2 kids. There was no line when we walked in and several staff members were walking around grumpy and complaining about other staff members and customers. We still waited about 20 minutes to be seated. Drinks took another 20 minutes. We ordered appetizers and food. The appetizers came out cold on extremely hot plates WITH our meal. We ordered an additional side that never came out although remained on our bill. In the entire time we sat our coffee was refilled one time. The restaurant itself seemed clean and inviting but the feeling of the restaurant from every member of the staff, from beginning to end, was anything but. Not a person seemed like they wanted to be there. Staff and management could do well with some training on customer service and timing. It's Absolutely FREEZING!!! When asked what tables were open to seat us... Front desk replied "whatever is clean". I counted at least 5 tables in the area near where we are seated that are just sitting empty & nasty. Like people left 20 minutes ago and the tables are just forgotten. This Denny's isn't even worth one star. It is absolutely the worst Denny's we have ever been to. When we arrived we were greeted by a stench that some sort of air freshener was attempting to overpower. That aside there were only 3 other tables in the entire restaurant occupied. Needless to say, it was NOT busy. It took 15 minutes for the drink order for our party of four to be brought out. We immediately ordered and it was another 40 minutes before our food was brought out. Only half of my husband's order was brought out. We had to wait another ten minutes for the rest of it. The food was luke warm at best. We waited nearly an hour before everything arrived to our table. We were only offered refills once. My mom placed a phone order at this 24/7 Denny's location at 10:15pm. I picked the order up for her on my way home and when I entered the diner it smelled like old dirty mop water. The server by the name of Valerie L and her coworker were standing at the register ready to greet me. "She said, your here for the double burger etc etc. Your mom called the order in" I said Yes, that's me! She told me the total of $12. & some change. I take out my card and input my pin. It takes a while but it comes back with a server error. Before Valerie went to ring me up she had another coworker calling in on the phone to talk to the manager. She puts the person on hold she tells the other guy upfront with her to run really fast to the back & tell the manager that she was on the phone for her. Her and I remained in the front she asked me to try my card a few more times. I entertained her request because I was here to pick up food for my mom. Admits the server error messages, she is chit chatting about this employee on hold in a negative way. She was completely unprofessional. "Spilling all the tea" A small lady walks up from the back and I assume she's the manager because at this point I've already told Valerie that "since she doesn't know what to do in this type of situation. Imagine putting in a pick up order at 10 AM for your family I Christmas morning. You get there at the scheduled pick up time for your food as your family so he wakes up and they're excited to eat and the order is not ready. Not that big of a deal except when over an hour goes by with all the promises that your order is being figured out and you watch 30 other orders get picked up and you see people that sat down and then leave before you even got your food, changes your entire morning are you going to spend with your family. Everybody was nice I'm not complaining about that but I didn't really get any apology even though I didn't complain or bitch at anybody. I have been by this place many times and finally stopped one day. I had Breakfast on a Saturday morning. My server was Maxwell. He was adorable and very professional. I was happy I had gone in.Food is not the best but, it is very inexpensive, so no complaints here. After such a great experience, I thought I would go back for lunch. Since this time it was a week day Maxwell was not working, so I was given another waiter. He tried, however yelling at me from across the room ,did I need anything else was not professional at all. I know he just did not know any better. Please do not discuss your personal lives at work where all the patrons can hear. It is bad Business. Perhaps Maxwell should be teaching the others how to behave when they are at work. I had gone in for a late lunch so there was only 3 other tables in here. Upon arrival my family and I walk into the restaurant and are over taken by the smell of a shit filled diaper. That alone took our appetite away. We decide to give the restaurant the benefit of the doubt and still eat there. We get to the counter to be seated and stood there for 10 minutes while the restaurant was very slow.
