"If it's not broke, don't fix it!!! No fault of this particular location as it's been happening with all Waffle Houses. Yeap, they have been slowly replacing the waffle iron plates, and the result ain't the same. The waffles used to be thin and crispy, but now they're thick and doughy. Simply put, they don't hit the way they used to & what showed up to my table was a cross between a Belgium waffle and a biscuit... PASS... I was cool with paying extra for eggs during the price hike, but the biggest letdown was the waffle. Even after requesting it crispy, it came out dark but still soft and doughy. Sent it back, and the 2nd one was a #fail... I only had a few bites.... Threw off my entire meal experience. Moving fwd, I'm gonna start calling ahead or asking before I get comfortable to see if the location is still using the original waffle irons or new ones!! read more

This is the best Waffle House in town, the service and food is why we drive to this location far from our house. Our waiter even played our favorite tunes in the juke box. So being from SGV CA, we don't get the Waffle House often. Since we were traveling to AZ for a weekend trip we knew we would have to come to at least one Waffle House on this trip. We randomly picked this location on our maps application and it did not disappoint. This location seemed newer and maybe a little bigger than some of the other locations we have visited in the past. The gal that took our order was great. Lots of personality but professional and very nice. My wife and I shared the All Star special but we upgraded the waffles to include pecans. Totally spur of the moment stop for breakfast here on the way to doing errands. No verbal greeting when we entered and after a few moments, we were told to pick somewhere to seat; one booth was empty so we sat there. It's actually been years since we've stopped at a Waffle House and I have to say, this one wasn't one of the cleanest places for sure. Bathrooms were out of TP and paper towels, which we reported. We also remembered one of the fun things of being at Waffle House was hearing the staff banter and yell back orders to the cooks...didn't experience that here so not sure if that has changed with the chain or just this site. Ordered the waffle with pecans...not impressed. It wasn't crispy, actually doughy to be honest and it had several pecans on it. Also ordered two scrambled eggs with ham and smothered hash browns (with onions). Asked for those to be extra crispy, which the top side was. Also had a biscuit with apple butter. Overall...not a bad meal. Certainly not top notch but good. Second order was two eggs medium with sausage and toast. Again, an ok meal, nothing to write home about. Our server, Zachary, was a personable young man who said that he loved working there. Wife worked at a Waffle House in Tucson when she was in high school (many, many years ago!) so she shared her experience from then. Rowland is the manager but even better the OUTSTANDING cook and customer service guru! Rowland cooked up this All Star like he invented the special. He kept the station sanitized and clean. I haven't been to a Waffle House in years, and I was so pleased!! I split the breakfast combo with my cousin, and the food was delicious!! I just wish they cooked the chocolate chips inside the waffles instead of sprinkling them on top after the waffles were done. The booths were too close together. I didn't have any space. Grits. Grits done right, Grits that are creamy and delicious. Ok I like grits. I take the time to make them at home myself. I painstaking wait and add grits and stir, stir, stir, to make creamy grits. I feel like Waffle House has done the same thing. I love ordering a bowl of grits at Waffle House. Service has always been good. I have gone in really early in the morning and later in the morning. Service has always been nice and efficient. Food has always been good as well. I order eggs in all sorts of different ways. Every order of eggs has always been good and correct. Biscuits are regular sized and average, but put eggs and meat in them and they are delicious! Jelly works too on the biscuits. Now the WAFFLES: The waffles here are almost as good as the grits. Brad would say better due to NOT being a fan of grits. For waffles, I have ordered plain, pecan, blueberry, etc when I am alone I get my waffle on the dark side, because that is the way I like it! When Brad and I are sharing, I don't mention dark side. Even though I prefer a dark, regular waffle cook is good too. The waffle is sweet enough to not need syrup. Brad however agrees but still adds syrup, but not as much, which is impressive since he loves syrup and sweet stuff. We have not gone later in the day for lunch or dinner, but there is much on the menu to order. One day soon we will visit for dinner. The number one reason Brad likes Waffle House in Ahwatukee is because they have Mr. Pibb! And the wait staff has always kept him supplied with all the Mr Pibb he can handle. This place really needs to get their act together. They advertise 24/7, but are definitely not 24/7. Obviously they have staffing issues and can't be open 24 hours anymore. However when asked what their hours are, they for some reason keep saying they are open 24 hours. The amount of times I've driven here, only for them to be closed, is ridiculous. It's fine if you can't be open 24 hours anymore, but at least post accurate hours somewhere as to not waste time anymore. The pricing is also inconsistent. This Waffle House use to be my favorite but now it's the least. Servers on 3/3/22 at 10am were so rude. The food is cold and burnt to a crisp and the silverware are gross. My fork had lip stick stains on it but the ultimate kicker is my bill came to $26.75 on my yellow ticket but once I signed the copy and left the tip, I saw that the total I actually paid was $29.75 so I asked for the itemized copy and the cashier Elijah looked dumbfounded then said, "I accidentally charged you more but I will take it from the register." And gave me $3 cash. Can you imagine how many people he probably does that too and how much money he is probably getting with $3 here and there. It was pretty crowded in there, but I wanted to go there for a cheap but tasty breakfast that I remembered enjoying back in 2016. Unfortunately, they really downsized compared to how the place was back in 2016. They served waffles in to-go boxes instead of plates, they got rid of their salsa, and said waffles were either not fully cooked or mangled during the cooking process. I think I even ended up getting some food poisoning from there. Never eating here again and I've officially joined on calling it "Awful House". This place has gone down hill. I know it's a waffle house, but they don't even try at this location anymore. The last 3 times we have been there the staff have been behind the counter watching You Tube videos, complaining about customers, and complaining extremely loudly about the prior staff on the shift.
