Kids Mini Burgers w/Cheese, Grilled Onions, Mayo, Mustard and Lettuce. Onion Rings, Fries
Samantha M.

The bestie and I were hungry for a little something after shopping. She was craving a milkshake (not pictured) and I wanted a little cheeseburger. So, we each ordered a kids meal which was a lot of food...we could've shared. Our server was AMAZING and food was hot, fresh and delicious. Perfect Saturday mall meal. LOL

Cockroach

The food was good and service was until towards the end of the meal where a cockroach was crawling on the counter towards my meal. The gal serving us never apologized for this & still fully charged my mom with not even batting an eye nor reacting to us seeing a cockroach in a food establishment.

The burgers here are amazing , expensive but amazing . The service here was top notch. it has a really good vibe like classy. Would definitely come here again. ps I ordered a shake instead of a water lol! #holdthelettuce #vennesa #winorlose

Burger still bleeding

Took my kiddos here for lunch on a Saturday around 11 so they had opened not long before. There was no one inside but it took a minute for the server to notice us waiting to be seated. Once seated, she was quick with menus and drinks. I ordered 2 kids meals, one with chicken tenders and one with 2 mini burgers. The first batch of mini burgers were still practically raw. I sent them back and they came back perfectly cooked with a new batch of fries, which we appreciated. The waiter was attentive and kept checking on us. She also brought out crayons, coloring sheets, and hats for my kids, which they loved. The store was clean and nice. I gave 4 stars because of the raw burgers and the fact that they charge a 3% surcharge if you pay with a debit or credit card. That's insane. But the staff was nice and the food was good so no complaints there.

Staff is always super friendly and the food always tastes fresh. I am super picky about hot dogs, but this one was soooo good. I am very big on tater tots so they are a must for me! It is super nostalgic and the diner feel is great. Will most certainly be returning!

The milkshake was good, however the bacon cheeseburger wasn't. The service was ok and it was very clean in the restaurant

Wow! Haven't eaten at Jonny Rockets in so long. Being a vegetarian it can be hard to find a good choice for a burger. This traditional burger with the Impossible brand patty was really, really good. The salad was great. My son really enjoyed the Philly cheesecake with the cheesy fries. We had leftovers and we are big eaters. Especially when it is so good. Definitely recommend to vegetarians and carnivores alike.

Kids meal chicken strips-overcooked

We haven't been to Johnny Rockets in a while and usually go to the location near Odyssey Aquarium, however that location is slammed right now because of Spring Break. Service was definitely good/adequate, but the food/prices were lacking. Everything seems a bit smaller in size/portion than it used to be. Cup size is smaller if you order anything besides a water. The $8 shake also came out in the soda sized cup, and though you do get the steel mixing cup with the leftovers, there wasn't much in that either. It just felt a bit overpriced-though the shakes did taste very good. Kids meals were fine but the chicken was over cooked so the kids barely touched it. Good thing the fries are good! My husband got a burger and fries and said it was fine. I ordered a grilled chicken salad with Ranch. It's a huge salad(and should be for $11) but what you see on top is what you get. Maybe 20 or so flakes of cheese and some sparse pieces of chicken. Basically a huge bowl of leaf lettuce. The chicken had a good flavor but is VERY thin/almost felt like beef jerky. Closer inspection found maybe 6-7 small pieces of bacon and a couple tomatoes. After I asked our waiter for more cheese and some ranch-it tasted good. But only order this if you like mostly lettuce and a very small amount of toppings(including chicken). Definitely just dissatisfied with how much you get for the price-but I guess that's par for the course these days with record high inflation on the rise! It might be worth another visit but I don't think a salad is the right thing to order here.

Super quick service. Our waitress was one of the nicest waitresses we had in a long time. Good was good - your typical dinner food.

It was awful. I've spent the last 24 hours in the bathroom. Both ends spewing. I'll never eat there again.

Harlow's Cafe - Chill will

Harlow's Cafe

(753 reviews)

There are places you eat at, and places that stitch themselves into your personal geography…read more Harlow's Cafe is the latter--and if you look closely while you're sipping your coffee, you can see the layers. My first visit to Harlow's was back in 1993--when Tempe still felt like a college town with rough edges and a pulse--this place went by another name: Mae West. The name change? That's a story best told over coffee and eggs, which is exactly how all good stories should be told. What never changed was the vibe: a room that quietly collected stories. You see it on the walls--old Hollywood glamour nodding to Mae West the actress, winking at you from another era, reminding you that Tempe once flirted with style and danger before developers discovered spreadsheets. And then there's the music. In the '90s and early 2000s, when the Tempe music scene was punching way above its weight, this place was part diner, part unofficial green room. Bands didn't just eat here--they held court. You'd find members of Gin Blossoms, The Refreshments, and a rotating cast of local music heroes sliding into booths, fueling up. No velvet ropes. No backstage passes. Just eggs, coffee, and the quiet understanding that everyone in the room was part of the same scene. You still feel it. The memorabilia isn't curated--it's accumulated. Earned. Like scars on a boxer. And through all of it--name changes, real estate pressure, ASU's corporate gravity well--Harlow's endured. We talked with the owners, John and Kimberly, about how Tempe's mom-and-pop joints have been steadily squeezed out by institutional money and chain logic. Harlow's survived not by scaling, but by belonging. Locals. Students. Musicians. Families. Same door, same welcome. You come here for chorizo and eggs that understand their purpose in life. For Belgian waffles that don't need reinvention. For breakfast that refuses to be ironic. But you stay because places like this are rare now--rooms where culture happened accidentally, not because someone branded it that way. Harlow's Cafe isn't just a great breakfast spot. It's a time capsule that still feeds you. A small, stubborn act of resistance. And proof that if you do the simple things right--and treat people like they matter--you just might outlast the wrecking ball.

We both ordered medium rare prime rib, and we both got medium well instead. They told us that was as rare as they had. I think it was cold and was reheated in the microwave to warm it back up again. The dinner came with 2 sides, but because it was not 4pm yet they didn't have any baked potatoes ready yet, so country red skins were the next best thing along with the green beans. The potatos were decent, but the green beans were canned and mushy. The salad was lettuce, 2 tomatos, 2 cucumber slices, and some shredded carrots. Their ranch dressing was decent, but I maybe got about a half of a tablespoon. The one thing both of us loved was their cornbread muffins. They were delicious, and I even thought about bringing home some extras because they were that good. The service was quick, but maybe a little too quick. I hadn't even finished putting the dressing on my salad when dinner came out. I still like this place for breakfast, but I don't think we'll be back for dinner again.

We came in with our family and three kids and sat on the patio since we were a larger group. After eating, our kids were sitting in chairs near our table, chatting and moving around a bit. They weren't being loud or disruptive, but a nearby a couple clearly seemed upset. The woman was shaking her head and saying to the waitress "this isn't okay to be doing while people are eating", pointing toward our kids. Once I realized this, I immediately called my kids back over and had them sit with us, and I even let her know that if something was bothering her, she could've told us and I would have addressed it right away. The couple chose to ignore us and left shortly after. The manager then came out and reassured us that Lucky Lou's is a family-friendly restaurant and that our kids were absolutely fine. That meant a lot to us and really showed how supportive and understanding the staff is. I also hope one day that couple realizes how hard it is to keep a 4-, 6-, and 8-year-old sitting at a table for more than 30 minutes without shoving an iPad in front of them. On top of that, the service was excellent, the atmosphere was welcoming, and I honestly had the best burger and tater tots of my life. We'll definitely be back--thank you for creating such a kid-friendly and enjoyable place for families!
