We were served by Jules on Tuesday March 31st mid afternoon and received excellent service from her. Myself and my GF were extremely happy with Jules and her great attitude. Review for Amanda & Maria Mariiiiaaa! at Denny's I've been coming to this Denny's for over 10 years, and the main reason I keep coming back is the people -- especially Amanda, one of the most reliable veteran waitresses you'll ever meet. I first met her when I moved into the apartments down the road with no cooking utensils at all, so I was here for breakfast and dinner almost every day. From day one, Amanda treated me like family. She checked on me, remembered my usual order, and made those early days in a new place feel a lot less isolated. She's been a friend ever since, and she brings that same steady kindness to everyone she serves. And then there's Maria -- Mariiiaa! "She reminds me of a Westside Storyyy" -- but she's the chef/cook holding down the kitchen. If you've ever walked into Denny's at 4:45 AM, barely awake, and seen Maria smiling from the back, you know what real hospitality looks like. She makes sure the food is hot, correct, and prepared with care. That kind of energy at that hour is rare. This Denny's isn't just a place to eat -- it's a place where people like Amanda and Maria make you feel welcomed, remembered, and respected. Food - Pancakes, turkey bacon, eggs - The pancakes are soft and fluffy. The butter tasted a bit synthetic. The turkey bacon was burnt. The over medium eggs were still runny on the inside. The take out container was interesting. I liked how the food was separated to keep the pancakes soft and fluffy. Atmosphere - The restaurant itself smelled a little weird. I wonder if it had anything to do with the restroom. They had the restroom door propped open at the time I went. No music playing when I visited. I liked that. I prefer no music over loud music. I don't like loud music. It's hard to hear with loud music. I did not visit the restroom. It was empty inside. Eventually a couple came by to get food. Service - There were about two employees. The service here was quick once the employees showed up. Order and pay at the register for take out. No self seating. They bring the food out to you. Parking - Surface parking lot. Take out only dedicated spots available. No parking meter or parking structures. Unique - I have never seen a two layered take out container. Saw an A health rating on Yelp. read more

Went this morning for breakfast/brunch. They were swamped and short staffed but the staff was really working hard to keep everything running smooth. Our hostess, server, cashier Gloria was doing it all and didn't miss a beat! Food came quickly and she checked on us several times to make sure all was good. Great work ethic and attitude! So you go inside you're greeted by what you will soon see is the best server ever, Amanda. I stopped by Denny's late Friday night with my wife for a quick bite. We got seated immediately, which was a good start. I ordered the Beef Brisket sandwich, and my wife got a skillet plate. Here's where things went downhill. About 5 minutes after ordering, I noticed a skillet sitting on a burner outside the kitchen area. Strange, but I thought maybe they were just prepping something. Another 20 minutes passed, and suddenly, that same skillet was brought to my wife's table--finally, after a long wait. Then, my Beef Brisket came out looking like burnt charcoal. It was so overcooked that my fork couldn't even pierce it. I was honestly in disbelief. The waitress noticed my look of confusion and disgust, so I told her I couldn't eat it. She told me, "That's how it comes," but did offer to get me something else, which I appreciated. A few minutes later, the manager came over to check if everything was okay. I pointed to the blackened, burnt brisket and said I couldn't eat it. His response? "That's how it comes to us." I was just floored. After some back and forth, I asked for a beef patty instead. When it arrived, it was rare--I mean, seriously rare, not even close to medium well as I requested. I looked over to the kitchen, and there was a cook with a big smile on his face, like he was enjoying the whole thing. At that point, I was done. A burnt sandwich, an undercooked patty, and no real solution to the issue. I won't be coming back to this Denny's in Tempe anytime soon. Huge letdown. read more

We had a group event here for 45 people yesterday. We chose three menu items in advance to make ordering easier. We were served by Amanda, who was simply amazing! I lived in Tempe more than 20 years and had never been here. When you're in the mood for breakfast for dinner, go here! Early evening service was good. We were seated quickly. It was pretty quiet with only a few tables filled. Service was a bit slow but the server let us know ours was up soon. That was helpful and helped us be more patient. I had a Grand Slam and there was a lot of food! The only issue I had was the small bacon. It was not very tasty. The buttermilk pancakes we THE best. They were fluffy and light. I loved them. Service is horrible. First of, this location isn't busy at all no matter the time of the day. That alone should say something. Our waitress was pretty nice. She greeted us, took our order m, asked if everything was fine. The manager on the other hand! Geeez! First she yelled at an old man who asked for his order to be taken. The 4 tables they had with costumers went silent. Second, we asked for red skin potatoes for our my husband and I breakfast, my order had it but my husband has the has brown. So when I told our waitress, she said no problem and never took the hash's browns. When she got the red skin potatoes was when I took a bite of the hash browns. Literally she drops off the plate, doesn't make any effort to take the hasbrowns so I took a bite. We get our check we good. Only one bite was still taken off the hasbrowns btw. They charge us extra for the red skin potatoes when I asked the waitress why, she said the manager said her manager told her if they didn't want the hasbrowns they would have never taken a bite out of it. It wasn't worth fighting a ghetto person and at ghetto spot. So we just paid for them. I didn't take our waitresses name but she African American. The manager is white. Never again. The last I been there was literally 4 years ago never went back because of the service. But now never again. read more
