We sat on the patio with our two toddlers and dog. There were a lot of flies and it was a bit hot but we wanted to be outside so that is on us! The flowers surrounding the restaurant are so pretty. We spent a moment admiring the fuzzy bumble bees before leaving. The food was good too. I got the special BLT. I can't remember the exact name but it had sprouts and avocado in addition to the BLT part. I put some fry sauce on it and it was delish! The sweet potato fries were great too. My husband said they were better than the regular ones he ordered. He got a burger and he said it was average (not bad, not mind blowing). My 3 year old enjoyed a plate of 3 small pancakes and bacon. He said it was "really good"! We visit Kamas a lot for our camping adventures, and we will definitely be back! It was slightly more pricey than average; we paid $55 for two entrees, a kids meal, and an iced tea (with a tip). Not crazy expensive but a little more than comparable diners (e.g. Blackbear Diner).

They didn't skimp on any of it. It was packed today and we still got a table right away. It is a perfect little mountain diner decorated with pictures for sale taken by a local photographer. Very cool way to display the artists photos. Country fried steak is also bomb, burger is great too. Pretty much all their breakfast is killer.

The Menu is pretty extensive - your average American breakfast, kids meals, and a nice selection of lunch items. You order through a phone on the table which makes it feel ever more personal. And when it's ready they buzz you to the counter! Service is very fast considering it being a "one man band!" Will definitely stop here again. It's Memorial weekend. We decided to go to Mt. Pleasant over the weekend before the big rush on…read moreMonday. We couldn't find anywhere to eat at Mt. Pleasant so we drove to the Spanish Fork location. My mother-in-law was opposed to us stopping here because she has a bad experience 30 years ago. We talked her into giving ac second chance. I ordered #2 Hanks Country Breakfast which included a chicken fried steak, hash browns, eggs, and biscuits and gravy. The chicken fried steak was crispy and not too much gristle like you would get with most cfs. The gravy was had a nice hearty flavor and with black pepper infused with the gravy. This gravy tastes really familiar to me. I thought I took a picture of my dish. I guess I didn't. The gravy was the same gravy that was on the biscuits and gravy. Again, very familiar with the b & g. The hash browns were cooked in butter not oil and had a nice light brown crust on both sides. I really appreciated this. My scrambled eggs were nice and fluffy and had a nice firm texture. I also ordered the Crazy Eights which is supposed to be "Italian Donuts" with Carmel and chocolate sauce drizzled on top with a chocolate dipping sauce. The "Italian Donuts" turned out to be the Utah Scone chopped up in triangles. I enjoyed the caramel drizzle but not the chocolate sauce, which was too bitter for my tastes. After thinking about why the biscuits and gravy tastes so familiar, they remind me of the biscuits and gravy from the IHG (Holiday Inn, etc) hotels I frequented when I was on the road. These b&g are supplied by Sysco Foods. Like I said, they taste a little too familiar for me. I'm not complaining, I really like these! What I am complaining about is how you order. I think using the phone at the table to order our food reminds me of the old "Training Table" restaurant chain. I didn't appreciate the "rules" on how we needed to order and that we couldn't split the check. They didn't even deliver the food to our table. I definitely won't be leaving a tip for service! My other complaint were the restrooms. They were nasty. I would've rather went in the bushes behind the building. Check your restrooms!!!! Good thing I didn't go in there before I ate.

Nestled in beautiful Emigration Canyon, it offers a peaceful setting where you can sit by the creek, enjoy the fresh air, and savor a delicious meal. The ambiance is hard to beat.. relaxed, scenic, and full of charm. Whether you're stopping by for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, it feels like a little getaway without having to travel far. The staff has always been friendly and welcoming, which makes the experience even better. Great food, beautiful surroundings, and a cozy atmosphere keep me coming back. This is one of my favorite places in the Salt Lake area.

Unfortunately, the experience and food just didn't live up to the setting. We visited on a very hot day and chose an inside booth. We knew it was an old dining car and that it might be warm, and there was a fan, so we figured it would be okay. It wasn't. The booth was absolutely sweltering. By the time we realized just how uncomfortable it was, there was no one around to ask about moving. Then there were the flies--constantly landing on our food and drinks, which made the experience even less enjoyable. We ordered the Eggs Benedict and Ruth's Breakfast with pancakes. The Eggs Benedict was a major disappointment, especially given how much people rave about it. The hollandaise had virtually no flavor. A good hollandaise should have a bright, zesty, buttery flavor, but this was completely bland. The English muffin was doughy, and the bacon was overly thick and extremely salty. It was also served in an awkward little boat-shaped dish that made it difficult to cut and eat. I also have no idea what they do to their hash browns. They weren't crisp, had a strange orange color, and tasted almost like Rice-A-Roni. Maybe there's some kind of seasoning added, but whatever it is, it didn't work for us. Ruth's Breakfast wasn't much better. The hash browns had the same issues, and one of the pancakes was completely raw in the middle. To make matters worse, our syrup was forgotten, and we waited a very long time before anyone came back around to check on us. I could potentially overlook mediocre food if the price reflected it, but at around $19 a plate, I find the quality hard to justify. The interior looks charming in photos, but in person it felt more rundown than quaint. The service wasn't terrible, but it also didn't stand out in any positive way. I genuinely wanted to love this place. Given the beautiful location and unique setting, I thought it would be a great spot to take out-of-town guests. Unfortunately, after this experience, I wouldn't recommend it. The setting is worth seeing, but I wouldn't subject anyone to this meal.

But then came the steak, which was flat-out the best I've had in years. No notes. Here's the thing though, I'm not a gnocchi person. Never have been. Our server talked me into it anyway, and I'm genuinely grateful. It's a short rib and stew situation with gnocchi that somehow hits every note perfectly. Total convert now. And the s'mores pie to close out the night? Simply perfect. Don't skip it. The service was great too, our server clearly knew the menu inside and out and steered us exactly right.

However, we did have one drink server where we had some issues with, but our main waitress was lovely. For starters, our table shared the baked ricotta, balsamic glazed brussel sprouts, and bread rolls with honey and butter. The brussel sprouts were good, but the bread rolls were my favorite! They were so incredibly soft and pillowy. They honestly didn't even need the bread and butter! I was most excited for the baked ricotta, but unfortunately it was a disappointment for me. Ricotta is a very mild cheese to begin with, but I tasted absolutely zero flavor from it and it was mostly just adding a textural element to the bread. The fig walnut guanciale jam was overpoweringly sweet and the guanciale was also nonexistent. Overall, what I expected to be a flavorful combination, fell pretty flat and bland for me. Onto the main, I got to try the Block burger and the house made gnocchi. The burger was a standard burger, nothing too crazy. I was surprised the patty was actually moist because it was cooked well done. The same jam from the baked ricotta was used, so wasn't a big fan of it because again the overwhelmingly sweet didn't do much to elevate the burger. I also missed any flavor from the truffle cheese sauce. So it was a pretty average burger. My gnocchi definitely tasted better than it looked. Another friend also got the same dish and it looked like they just split our portions in half and served it on two separate plates. In general, I wasn't a big fan of this dish. The braised short rib was very tender, but the whole plate sat in a pool of salty sauce. I couldn't really make out any other flavors. The scoop of crème fraiche tasted exactly like sour cream and was not the consistency that I expected. The gnocchi's were made well, but I prefer mine a little firmer. However, this is complete personal preference. Overall, service was good, but food fell severely short of what I expected. I was so excited for all of these elevated flavors and ingredients, but, sadly, none of them came through.
