Ambiance is wild!! Nestled between mountains, I could only imagine how beautiful outside seating for dinners around sunset must be!. Waitress was absolutely lovely and the food did not disappoint. Did not taste like franchised food. Everything had a very authentic taste and the biscuits were even better I imagined!!

Eggs & fish - *very* generous portions

Up Emigration Canyon a little ways, Ruth's Diner is simply iconic - operating since 1930. The history itself is reason to go and your table may well be in the old SLC Trolley car. The service was super friendly and fast: a nice casual spot. The food covers diner standards with *very* generous portions. It's only a few turns up the canyon from Sugar House, but seems to be almost set in another time. Head on up :)

We were lucky to beat the lunch rush by arriving at 11:30am on a weekday and were seated immediately. With both breakfast and lunch, the menu is long. Because I wanted to eat one of the enormous flaky biscuits dropped off at our table (ZOMG), I opted for breakfast with the quiche of day (mushroom and artichoke). It comes with a generous fruit salad. Hubby went with the meatloaf burger for lunch. It was okay. The hot apple cider is sweet. Service was pretty fast, although we never felt rushed. Gender-segregated restrooms. Free parking lot. The main entrance is not wheelchair accessible, but the patio and rear entrance are.

Sausage & two scrambled eggs w a side of hash browns & smoked salmon omelette! Both were delicious. I love coming to this diner. The food is always great and service is excellent. We had Adam as our waiter and he is so KIND and helpful! He is exactly why people love coming to this diner, the staff is incredible.

My bf and I went for a fun brunch on a fall Saturday morning and, as expected, it was super busy. We were able to get seated immediately as long as we chose indoor seating, so we did. Honestly I think it would've been worth it to wait for the outdoor seating since it was relatively warm outside and the live music really set some vibes! As for food, we both got the eggs Benedict, but my bf got a regular and I got a pulled pork. He liked his, I really liked mine. Their pulled pork is delicious! I'm not sure I would say it's the best eggs Benedict I've had in this area, but it was definitely good. The hash browns were a little soggy, we wish they would've been crispier. I will say, we almost got full on just the biscuits with the raspberry jam on the table. Super good!

Food quality: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Cleanliness: 5/5 Value: 5/5 The drive up the canyon is such a vibe especially during the fall with the colors changing. Today did not disappoint! We quickly got in and the hostess did give us a heads up that the outside tables have been getting bees/wasps and if we wanted to move inside, it would only be possible if tables were available and if it was before our food. We made the decision to stay inside and I'm glad we did. Our server was great! She was attentive and also could tell our group of 4 wanted to chat so she gave us a bit more time after our meal to finish our conversations which I appreciated. I forgot how delicious the free biscuits are with the raspberry jam that they give you upon sitting down. They're so good, fluffy and very filling. I got the 3 egg omelette (substitute egg whites) with spinach, mushroom, cheese and add hashbrowns. My husband got the chile verde omelette. Both omelettes were great!

What a great diner/cafe. You can take the measure of a food joint's menu by how well and different they do the staples you've been getting for decades. Like I've had hashbrowns all my life, but the hashbrowns here were fantastic. Loose and fresh, without the hard exterior crust that other restaurants like to do. The same too with their fish sandwich. I was kind of bummed that Red Trout is not a lunch option like it is for breakfast and dinner. But this sandwich was a nice substitute with its crispy but not too crispy batter and flaky interior. This was a good second choice. I like the aesthetics here too. It's got a good rustic and homey environment. And the service was pretty cool, even substituting fries for my beloved hash browns and checking up on us regularly. The best compliment I can give to this place is that this kind of place that I wish I had close to me. I'm always looking for solid diners near me and now I have the template for exactly what kind.

Great spot! The food was really good and definitely bang for the buck. Service was friendly and attentive, which made the experience even better. The ambiance and decor are exactly what you want in a classic diner--nostalgic and welcoming. Felt like stepping back in time in the best way. Would definitely come back! Steak, meatloaf, and chicken fried steak in the photo.

I love that this restaurant sits in the mountains and have a great outdoor patio seating so you can enjoy the fresh air surrounding you. It definitely gets busy for brunch if you want to sit outside, on a nice sunny warm day. Came to brunch with my family and we waited about 20 minutes which isn't bad. I got the burger, great size! I feel like it should have a special sauce and it would be a hit. Fries were perfect and crispy! I tried my nephews cinnamon French toast I believe and it was unbelievably delicious. I would definitely be back!

Great spot, got a table for 4 right away after walking in on a Sunday, ordered the pancakes scrambled eggs and hashbrowns. Loved the pancakes, the eggs tasted a little like powdered eggs but perhaps they added milk and I don't really mind that texture. Hashbrowns were also some of the best I've had at a diner. Would return!

Delicious mac 'n cheese plus a complimentary biscuit. This is one of my favorite comfort food diners in Salt Lake City. Plus, the staff are all so friendly. There's a reason this place is always busy. They must be doing something right since they've been around since 1930!

Great outdoor mountain atmosphere. Food was really good service was good. Loved the live music

I got the flank steak and I should have read it better. But to be fair the item doesn't make sense. It just wasn't good. So the steak is really covered in teriyaki. And it's not like the no bettahs, it's super runny watery sauce and it didn't taste well. If it was a light drizzle it might have been better. Beside the dish the place is a great place to eat at with a good scenery.

There are so many great options on the menu, just like any diner you'll find in the world but you can eat with a conscience. This restaurant is truly terrific! I love the cool vibes on the inside and the seating arrangement! They have mocktails, cocktails, beer and just tons of amazing food! We had the pizza, fries, mashed potatoes, and everything was delicious! The service was top notch and I definitely would suggest that if you are in Utah, go to visit Vertical Diner! I only posted a few pics of the menu but it is extensive!

Interestingly, it was pretty packed so I was forced to sit at the bar. It felt a bit uncomfortable not having a proper place to keep my bag and heavy jacket. I had a hot tea plus my entree which was essentially a fried "chickn" steak with gravy, mashed potatoes, and roasted broccoli and brussels. Everything was filling and the gravy had good flavor, but the roasted greens---while fibrous and nutritious---did cause some unwanted bloat! By the end of my meal, I opted to have dessert back at my hotel since none of the options were that appealing to me. If I had a chance to come back, I would since there are still plenty of vegan options on the menu that I would love to try!

I have seen this place on social media, and when I saw how high the yelp score is with the number…read moreof reviews it has, I knew I had to try it. I invited some friends to go for brunch. On a Sunday morning at 11, there was no wait. I was surprised by this, but it looks like they may get busier in the afternoon. They don't take reservations, but you can get on the Yelp waitlist. The inside is cute with a decent amount of tables, and they have outdoor seating as well. Both the hostess and server were nice. For drinks, they have a variety of alcoholic and non alcoholic options. They don't have Diet Coke, so I went for a raspberry limeade. When in Rome ya know! I'm soooo glad I ended up getting this because it was delicious. The perfect combo of sour and sweet. Also, it has chunks of raspberry in it, which I loved. I prefer the actual fruit to a syrup, so I really enjoyed this. My friend got the honeydew cucumber mint limeade and let me try it. It was really good and refreshing!! My husband got a coffee and it was good. Both mine and my friends husband also enjoyed a mimosa!! For food, we started with the mini biscuits and hash bombs to start. Their biscuits, of course, are amazing. The jam that comes with them was great. The hash bombs were good but not my favorite. I didn't love the quinoa and wanted them to have cheese or something to make them a little more flavorful on their own. They were a great vessel for dipping in the really good limeade sauce that came with them. Everyone liked their main course. My breakfast tacos were delicious!! They came with chips and salsa. The salsa is a limeade and mint salsa. I didn't love it, but it was fun to try. My husband got the biscuit bar with gravy and said they were the best biscuits and gravy he's ever had. My friends got the hoss and garden hash and liked them both. This was a little bit of a weird experience cause halfway through our meal the server let us know that another patron at the restaurant had paid for everyone there. I had never had this happen before, and it was such a pleasant surprise! This place is a 5/5 regardless, but it was def an added bonus. I'm excited to come back and try something else cause the menu has so many standouts!!

I was super duper excited to give this place a try after reading my friends Tiff review and how she…read morerave about this cucumber mint limeade, and I just had to give it a try. This was definitely on my bookmark of places to try when visiting SLC, and it was a score that it was just 10-12 mins from my downtown suite. This was the first stop on my morning of return flight home. I ordered the Mother Butter Clucker $18. Pancakes, fried chicken, real maple syrup, egg, bacon, whipped butter. The chicken was crispy, but dry. I did request my pancakes to have crispy edges, and was told they can do so. My pancakes were pretty much burnt on the bottom half, making it difficult to cut and eat. They did remake the plate, but it was time for me to depart otherwise it was cutting into my boarding timeframe. I package this to go, and did not get to eat it; I tossed it at TSA. Bacon was good thick cut. The syrup was not warm as requested; it was cold. The cucumber limeade was okay, but it was much better once I left and discovered the sugar at the bottom of the rim like Mr. Columbus and gave that the best stir I could, and it became amazing! I also enjoyed my friend Raspberry limeade as well. He didn't care for it much, but I think I enjoyed his more so than mine. It could've been due to them actually stirring the sugar in that drink verse just placing the sugar at the bottom of my cup. Service was slow and friendly, I might give this place a redo whenever I return to SLC. (Because I didn't get to eat my food, I did eat the chicken and egg. I really wanted them pancakes though. )

It was the Monday during the holiday break after Christmas where no one is wanting to cook, so it seemed like everyone had the same idea of going out to eat.
