I've driven by this place for years. Each time wondering what kind of food they had the atmosphere etc.? Yesterday I had the chance to have lunch there. It was really busy. Inside it's much larger than it looks. Parking is a little challenging so we had to Park in the neighborhood. I had the smoked Turkey Sandwich with a side of French Onion Soup. The Soup alone was enough for lunch and very delicious. My Turkey Sandwich was divine. It was made with really good quality food. I appreciate this because I'm noticing that some of my favorite places are using lower food contents due to the Economy but not Stella's. My entire lunch was about $17 and it was so big. They also have fantastic service despite being so busy. I can't wait to come back. read more

Staff are amazingly friendly. The food is decent. Their chicken chile sandwich is on point. The turkey advacado is way lacking. Their roast beef sandwich falls apart due to piling the meat in ball and putting it the middle. If they would layer it over the whole sandwich it would be much better. We arrived moments before 1pm, and the restaurant was quite busy. Parking lot was full, so we parked on the side street, nbd. AMBIANCE: My husband wears hearing aids so we opted to go out back to the covered patio where it was quieter and more intimate. Each person that came to our table seemed happy to be there, and they were very personable with us. Our food was scrumptious. Stella is the sister restaurant of Desert Edge Brewery which we visited last week. We had such a nice meal there, that we decided to give Stella a go. The menus are similar, yet very different. After trying them both, I can say if you enjoy going to one, you'll likely enjoy going to the other! The beer and cocktail menus are the same -- being predictable with yummy beverages is nice in that regard. I ordered their same (award-winning!) Happy Valley Hefeweizen with a lemon wedge and it was refreshing and delicious. I'm not much of a bread person, however these guys do bread right!! The sandwich and hamburger buns today were pillowy, warm and delightful. Just the buns alone went above and beyond our expectations. Everything was cooked expertly, with perfect attention to detail. I ordered the chicken/roasted pepper sandwich with the chipotle mayo, and my husband got the bacon hamburger. Both amazing. Today's soup was chicken corn chowder, and it stole the show for me. As I'm here writing my review a few hours later, I've found myself thinking about that chowder. I look forward to going back and having it again soon. This was a really nice dining experience for us. Great lunch option! As a starter, I've gotta recommend the chile verde cheese fries that come loaded with guacamole, salsa, cilantro cream, remoulade, and olives ... so dang good! As an entree I had the flat steak salad and it was delicious--the balsamic vinegar dressing and artichoke hearts pair spectacularly with the meat. I recall back when I formerly lived vaguely in the area that this place was, I think, a Firehouse BBQ prior to becoming Stella Grill and I always wondered what that was, but never quite got around to finding out. It was always on my backburner list and I was reminded every time I happened to be in the area and drove by it...for nearly the entire life of the place. I couldn't quite make out what it was intended to be, but after going, it appears to be a sort of neighboorhood hangout spot, similar to Left Fork in Murray, though definitely a bit more on the upgraded side on the interior. I went with the Cubano, which is usually a safe choice as most places will do it at least passably. Here is one of the better versions, with the ham grilled and the ratio pretty close. This is another that uses pulled pork, rather than sliced pork, which is probably a reasonable compromise for a restaurant, and overall, it was quite good. The fries are the coated kind and also very nice. Drink selection is a touch iffy, though the iced tea was really good. It felt a touch cramped inside, but this would be a really cool place, I think, if you get the right table, to hang out inside while the snow falls on the outside. This is another where it's more 4 going on 5, as I need to explore the menu more, but I was definitely pretty impressed for a place I went in not knowing what to expect. read more

I'll start with the positives first - the food was amazing. Their fries are perfectly crispy and the fry sauce is delicious. I tried the hanger steak salad and it was delicious as well. The steak was cooked perfectly and the toppings were carefully placed. The restrooms and tables were clean. Unfortunately, everything else is left to be desired. The service was extremely slow, even though I went on a Saturday afternoon around 2 PM. The waiter got my order completely wrong and brought out the wrong dishes. They also spilled both me and my friends drinks, spilling them all over the table and our food. All in all, I probably won't go again simply because of the poor service. read more

The ambience is casual and laid back, and definitely a place to bring your friends. There were several groups of people here, each one looking like they were having the time of their lives. This was a fabulous restaurant! The wait staff did an excellent job! They were very attentive and helpful. They answered all of our questions and refilled our drinks promptly. The food was really good and came out fairly quickly. Even the busters were very polite as they cleared dishes here and there throughout the meal. My turkey sandwich was delightful! The french fries were amazing. I did get the French onion soup, which was not my favorite. But I think that's more of an acquired taste thing. It kind of tasted like it had a beer base, but I don't think it did. it just wasn't my cup of tea. We tried Stella's today for a lunch meeting at the request of a good friend and colleague. It was a great choice. The salmon salad was amazing, full of all types of goodness. Our server today was CJ. I learned that he's worked for the same family in two different restaurants for about 35 years. As a former server myself , that told me something about the way this family operates its restaurants and the way they treat people. I took two friends here for their first time to celebrate their birthdays. I've eaten here for years. Alyssa was a wonderful server who brought our drinks and food out quickly even though they were packed at lunchtime. We all loved the mint pesto goat cheese with mini toasts for a shared appetizer, then two of us ordered soup (French onion/chicken noodle) and strawberry sunflower salad; the third ordered a bacon cheeseburger with fries. We shared a piece of poppyseed kiwi cake. Everything was delicious. We can't wait to return. read more

We have been looking forward to trying Stella Grill. Not sure where to start and honestly, with there being many other reviews that are very positive, I can't figure out what went wrong. The positive. Everyone working here is really nice and seems to enjoy their job. The staff was attentive and engaging. Their menu selections are large enough to cover all types of appetite's, but small enough to make an easy decision. As far as the esthetics of the inside of the restaurant. Very homey and comfortable. Really like the quiet and relaxed vibe. The not so positive. When our food arrived, my French fries had a hair sticking out of the middle of the plate. (Not the end of the world, but does kill the appetite a bit.) My wife ordered the Mexican Hot Roast Beef Dip. The menu shows no onions in this sandwich, so she did not ask for no onions. When the food arrived... tons of onions melted within the cheese and all over the sandwich. Again, not the end of the worlds. Just pick them off and move on to eating... but the point is, why? Please just make the meal according to how the menu reads. I did point out the hair to a food server passing by. I told her I would just pass on the fries. She was nice, but we never saw her again and I would have thought an apology or visit from the manager would have been in order. There were three of us during the visit. Each of us left disappointed and a little put-off. The other Yelp reviews seem to be very positive, so they are doing something right. We just had bad luck on this visit. So happy that we decided to try this place! It was lunch time and we arrived about 11:40. By the time we left it was a full house. Clearly we were not the only fans. Recently had lunch here and was pleasantly surprised. Loved the atmosphere. Comfortable, low-key and not overly loud. The menu has plenty of different choices with various sides that come with different lunches, so everyone should find something they might enjoy here. They also have a pasta salad of the day, and they all sound amazing! They have cold sandwiches, entree salads, burgers, and other grilled sandwiches. I enjoyed the Blackened Salmon on fresh Ciabatta bread with a mango relish. I picked fries for my side and was excited as they were thin fries with a crispy outside, which I love! My friend had the reuben, which also looked quite tasty. Our waiter was awesome-super friendly, helpful and perfect with the amount of time he spent with our table. Stopped in hear due to my tax person needing to split my appointment between two times to get it all done (it's a long story). Stella Grill was close, open, and had some good reviews. I'm always down to try new places to eat around new areas of the greater SLC area that I haven't been to before. So Stella's it was. This place is really good. Clean inside and out, nice little bar area, and plenty of seating without having tables on top of each other. The menu is small but well balanced with several daily specials. Lunch was bacon & swiss burger with fries and an Italian "meatloaf" burger with chips and a cup of soup. The cup of soup as loaded potato and had a great fresh flavor and texture. Just a bit of cheese, green onion, and bacon to fill out the loaded potato flavor profile which came together remarkably well. Meatloaf burger sounded interesting and tasted far better than I expected. The ground beef/Italian sausage patty we're flavorful and not at all greasy. The smokiness of the roasted red pepper paired well with the bold seasoning of the patty and luxurious Fontina cheese. Tying it all together was the arugula and garlic mayo. The bacon & swiss burger was great as well. That little bite and creaminess from the swiss is always a winner when paired with bacon. Especially with the great bacon they used, it was a flavor home run. The fries were perfectly cooked and seasoned. Light fluffy interior with a very crispy exterior and served with one of the better fry sauces I've had so far. The burgers were mindful and balanced in a way to bring out the best in all the ingredients. For some place that was literally a random pick from a list, they have what I'd consider among the best burgers I have had in the past year. It's a place that we'll most definitely be back to because I have the feeling everything on their menu is spot on. read more
