They require you to order by phone from your table BUT you have to be ready so you don't keep them waiting and only on person orders The cushions are bench seats that need new springs: you have to scoot in to sit passed the sink hole! You sit down, figure out what you want, then pick up the phone at the table and order. They alert you when your meal is ready and you pick it up from the counter. It took me a little while to figure out the procedure, since I've never been here before. It's a little hokey, but at least you don't have people standing in line in front of you trying to decide what they want to order. It was about 30 minutes before closing and that always concerns me. I was surprised that the food was served quickly and it was hot, fresh and tasty. Also, the prices are reasonable and they serve breakfast all day, another plus. We were on the way to a family reunion, and they were open on a Sunday night at 8:00 pm; the only sit-down place we could find. No regrets. Great decor; 50s photos on the wall, and comfortable booths. The tables have phones, where you place your order. A buzzer lets you know when it's ready to pick up. We ordered the chef salad, grilled chicken quesadilla, Navajo taco and #11-French toast combo. Everything was very good. The bacon and French toast were cooked perfectly, the sour cream was the best I've had in 20 years (seriously!), and the rest of the food was eaten too fast for photos. We will come come back. I was very unimpressed with the Huevos Rancheros. It came with canned chili beans flooding over a tortilla topped with your style of eggs. It was actually barely edible. I got the Chicken Fried Steak which was definitely a frozen patty. This place doesn't use waiters, probably because they know their food could possibly effect someone's living wages. I saw this little joint from the road...so I decided to swing-in for lunch. Whenever possible, I support the Mom & Pop...small business, over the chain restaurants. They have a unique business model...sit anywhere, read the menu, decide what you want...pick-up the phone and talk with the lady at the counter and give her your order. When ready, they ring your table...!!! Let me add...the nice lady is only feet away. I suppose that at peak times this feature is fool proof. When they beep your table, go up and pay and take your food to your table. My lunch...actually was breakfast ham, eggs and hashbrowns with toast and a coffee... it was fantastic. They have a big menu with many items to choose...!!! There is a relaxed diner/drive-in feel. I almost expected to perhaps see someone at anytime on roller skates. This one of the more enjoyable restaurants that I have been to in a real long time. You are invited to swing-in, relax and enjoy a fun meal experience...and great chow. We pass by this diner on our way through Nephi canyon but hadn't stopped before. We did tonight, and now it's on our list of sanctioned restaurants. We looked at the menu beforehand, and saw that among the list of traditional diner foods, they also had a few healthy choices. My husband ordered the salmon and broccoli, and I ordered the shrimp skewers with broccoli. I was a little concerned, because we are in small town, Utah, and I didn't know what the quality would be like. We were pleasantly surprised, and ate all of it! We usually visit the One Man Band in Lehi, but we were in the area, and love the Lehi location, so as a family of five we visited late Saturday afternoon. When we arrived there were only two other tables seated. We ordered the Cobb Salad, Liver & Onions, American Breakfast and two Lemon Pepper Chicken. We ordered and then went and picked up utensils, drinks, and condiments. One of our party went to the Ladies restroom, and came back and said that the restroom was disgusting and if that was their standard, we were in trouble! We went and picked up our food and returned to the table. The Liver & Onions was good, the salad and the American Breakfast were great, but the Lemon Pepper Chicken's looked like someone had thrown up on flattened pieces of chicken! The chicken was rubbery! On looking around we realized that although the One Man Band staff actually consisted of 4 people, maintenance and cleaning were not high on their list of priorities! The blinds and walls looked like they hadn't been cleaned since the place opened, and I already mentioned the restrooms! The One Man Band concept is great, but, this is one to miss if you're ever in Nephi! read more
