This was one of the best meals we had in Utah while visiting. Authentic Mexican food served in a mom and pop shop. It seems small, but there is plenty of indoor seating. Stopped in the small town of Nephi on our way back home to California and ate at Jaliscience. We had the Chile verde burrito, chicken burrito, shredded beef soft tacos, taco/enchilada combo plate and chips with salsa. The service was great and our food came out very quick. Everything we had was really good. Even my gringo father-in-law who frequents the likes of gas station burritos and "Mexican" fast food chains, but complains about everything but those delicacies, liked his ground beef nachos. This was a decent spot for dinner during our road trip. Like the other reviewers mentioned, this is a very tiny hole-in-the wall, small town Mexican restaurant in Nephi. During pandemic there is no seating inside but it was great to eat outside. There are two outside tables and 6 chairs total. Most people go order at the drive thru. It wasn't crowded, I think we came there around 7:30pm on a Friday night and were able to sit outside and eat. My husband had the steak burrito and I had the carne asada tacos. There is a decent kids menu too. Overall the service and food met our expectations. I also liked that they accept AmEx cards. We would consider coming here again if we needed to stop in Nephi for food and recommend to others. read more

Whoa! I drove to check this place out at 4pm and there were cars waiting for orders, people waiting inside, people calling in orders and people in the drive thru. There was one lady with the sweetest voice running the show up front. She didn't miss a beat, multi-tasking like a well- oiled machine. I could only see one man cooking from where I stood but I wasn't sure. The woman didn't need to look up from the million things she was doing to let you know she was saying internally, "I got you, friend." The wait for the food wasn't any more than 10 minutes which is a magical feat considering the amount of orders coming in. I drove the food back to my family (kids meal wasn't photographed as I had to get those out to them quickly) and it was delicious! I did wish the salsa wasn't so thin, same with the guacamole but when you're traveling, you make do! I especially liked seeing the young, middle school looking kids ordering on their own as walk ins. They seemed to know their way around Mexican food and were polite and patient. Must be a plus to living in a small town, just walk to the local restaurant without parents because everyone knows each other. What a blessing! read more

Stopped in Nephi on our way home from Glacier National Park. Looking for a place to grab a quick bite to eat, not many options. We are from San Diego and love good Mexican food! So when I saw there was a taco shop we decided to give it a try. Honestly, from the outside appearance we almost turned around and went somewhere else. But we were hungry and there were little to no other options. I'm glad we stayed! The place is pretty rundown and almost looks closed from the outside. The ladies behind the counter were super sweet and helpful. I ordered a small nachos and my husband ordered two Carne Asada tacos. His tacos were great and my nachos were pretty good as well. We were pleased :-) the salsa was very watered down with hardly any flavor and we ended up using our own salsa from our cooler Prices were reasonable as well! read more

This place is the absolute bomb! I felt like I was back home in my Latin mama's home, having one of her awesome home cooked meals. Everything tastes like it's made fresh and authentic. I ordered ala carte because I didn't want a big meal. One taco with a side of rice and beans. And this is what I got.. one jam packed carnitas Taco that had a double tortilla on it, so I was actually able to make two tacos out of it. Good serving of rice and beans and a little extra surprise.. a side of grilled onions that were so good! All this for just $7.50. The four-hour-or-so interstate drive from the Zion National Park area to the Salt Lake metro features some magnificent, majestic Western vistas that look like they're out of a John Ford movie. It also includes few census-designated places of any size once you get past St. George, which means there are almost no opportunities for roadside dining. We stopped by a Costa Vida location that was closed solely because "somebody important" had not shown up for work. Yelp pointed us to a joint called Traditions Cafe in tiny Scipio, but that was shut down, too, apparently permanently. That led us to Jalisciensce, which turned out to be about as good an interstate lunch stop as you could hope for. It's not exactly "on" the interstate, though. Instead, you've got to drive about a mile into little Nephi. Jalisciensce i.e., "of Jalisco," is a modest, diminutive diner/cafe offering dirt-cheap authentic Mexican fare. Eight bucks or so gets you a two-taco combo with rice and beans. Not the best al pastor or lengua you've ever had, but certainly good enough to be quite enjoyable, and certainly far better and more interesting than yet another boring and dispiriting fast-food interstate meal. If you're roaring up or down I-15, take the five extra minutes of your time to visit this little place. read more

Ok. Pretty sweet spot here. If you find yourself en route to southern pleasures, stop on here for some authentic Mexican eats. I tried to rolled tacos, which were pretty on point. I also took a stab at their fried ice cream. Another win. Crispy and sweet, just how you like it. My wife had some nachos and I taste tested to pure happiness. Awesome hole in the wall. Do not take a large group here. There are about 6 tables inside and 2 outside. Can be cramped if you go in at the wrong time haha. If you are five feet like me, the menu is tricky to see. It took about 10min for my enchiladas plate (1 pork & 1 chicken), with my extra side of rice and beans, 4 churros (when I only asked for 2), and my chips (which should be free... well that's what I'm used to, but I paid like an extra $3) I showed up around 1pm, so not too many ppl, but the drive-thru was packed. The owners are super nice. I'd definitely return. And yes, there are bathrooms, outside. No, there are no high chairs for your kiddos. read more

Upfront, this place is a total dive. You might feel worried when you see the building. But if you love to find a hidden gem with great food then this is a five star experience. I had a chicken taco and a carnitas taco. They are street style but with generous toppings and meat was great quality. Really yummy. My hubby had enchiladas taco plate. He liked everything and rated the beans & rice top notch. They have a great salsa bar! Better than most taco shops for sure. Food was great. Prices low. Service very friendly, family owned.
