DON'T go here if you are in any kind of time schedule. They have NO sense of time. This is the third time I have been here bc there are very limited options food wise. I warned you. The food is decent otherwise.

Talk about cooked to perfection, with the medley of green chile and other varieties of flavors. Let's just say that it did not last long at all on my plate!!! I think that the portion sizes were great and I was very full, and felt like I got my moneys worth. Our Waitress was bursting with personality, and made sure to check on us to see if we were doing okay! My first experience was superb, and I will definitely be stopping by again pretty soon!

We both ordered Navajo tacos. The fry bread was more like ""Pizza edge", pizza crust, which is great, but it's not an Indian or Navajo fry bread. The green salsa was excellent, the red salsa was OK. The meat, which was ground beef, I did not care for it. Left an aftertaste like it was going bad or something. They use whole beans as supposed to refried beans which was good and the shredded lettuce and vegetables were also OK. Overall, if I had to go back there again, I wouldn't order the Navajo taco. I might try something else, if it's only a bowl of that green chili and tortilla.

We found this spot on Yelp and I'm so glad we stopped! We got the fry bread (sandwich) and it completely surprised us. I usually think lamb is too gamey, but this wasn't at all. When I brought it out, my husband thought it was beef at first because of how mild it tasted. The portions are huge. HUGE! One taco was seriously the size of a medium pizza and somehow we still finished it. If you're taking it to go like we did, eat it within 5 to 10 minutes so it doesn't get soggy. They also have free broth and honey inside which was such a nice touch and made it even better. Dipping the fry bread in the broth was a nice touch. Like a lighter consomé. Try it with the honey, too! We did with the remaining fry bread as a bit of a dessert. The best part though was the woman working there. She was so kind, answered all my questions, explained everything, and even gave me a magazine about Gallup. If you want something authentic and filling, definitely stop here.

However, our experience with the food was incredibly disappointing. There were 3 of us dining. We ordered the dirty fries with brisket to start. The fries are hand cut (which is good) but they were not crisp. They were limp, and the brisket was more bbq sauce than meat. The meat was cut into tiny pieces that were mostly fat. The BBQ sauce was overly sweet and it seemed as if it was being used as filler to make it seem like there was more meat. The few pieces of meat I was able to find that weren't fat were dry. For our main courses, my husband ordered the Beef Fajita, my daughter ordered the Traditional Pan Fried Tacos (beef), and I ordered the BBQ Nachos with brisket. Had I known what the brisket was like beforehand, I would have chosen something else. The refried beans that were part of each meal were very pale and bland. According to my daughter, the tacos were ok, but the meat was dry and some of the lettuce was wilted, and definitely not worth the price. The fajitas were ok, but more veggies than meat. The nachos were mostly the disappointing refried beans, BBQ sauce, and sour cream. There was a bit of melted shredded cheese, but not nearly the amount there should be for nachos. Our ticket came to $108 ($94 before tip). This was double what this meal should have cost, especially for the quality of the food and size of the portions. I don't mind spending that much if I walk away feeling like I just had a really good meal. This time, I walked away feeling like I had been robbed and wishing we had gone to Taco Bell instead. On a side note, the paint in the pendant lamp hanging above our table was completely cracked and flaking and I was worried that it would fall onto the table andþor the food. This is definitely a health hazard.

Once you go up the steps to the wooden porch you will enter a small café that has been open for only about 6 months and primarily serving the locals and the occasional tourist such as my wife and me. We were just looking for a light lunch, so we split one of their Navajo Tacos with a side of fries. I have had a number of Navajo tacos in my lifetime and I would have to say that this was one of the best. Another item that I saw on their list that looked like it would be really good was a lamb sandwich with fry bread. Our waitress was very attentive and fun to talk to about the restaurant and local activities. The manager stopped by and also very pleasant to talk to. Not a Fancy dining location, but very clean dining area and kitchen.
