If you are (on Route 66 traveling on) I-40 east or west, and need to get gas in Gallup, New Mexico, YOU MUST stop at Blake's lotaburger! We exited onto US 491 and saw there were many fast food places. And as we were about to pull into McDonald's, we saw a local burger place and since we like to support local whenever we can, we drove across the parking lot to BLAKE'S. My wife was told from a former land of enchantment resident that Blakes was the place for the best burgers. We had the New Mexico burger, which had the green chilies on a double beef patty with lettuce, tomato, pickles, and onions. It was awesome! We also had the season fries, which were super good! We try not to eat too much fast food, so when we do, we want it to be worth it, and this combo meal at Blakes was absolutely worth it! The cashier young lady was sweet and friendly. The fries-station young man had a big smile. And the staff were all friendly. Inside seating area was clean. The restrooms were well attended and had to be opened by the cashier so they were safe. The drive thru is quick and convenient. I've gone here 3 times now and all the employees have been friendly. The food has always tasted fresh with hot green chile. Reason for 4 stars: cannot call in an order for pick up. Employee stated it's due to people not picking up the orders. Horrific service and we couldn't even get food. There was a large 24 combo order I guess a few people before us and they chose to ignore the people who had already ordered food and those of us waiting in line. People ahead of us kept leaving, and others were asking for refunds for having to wait so long for their food. There was no acknowledgement to anyone that there was a large order and they would be with us soon, we were all ignored until someone came asking for a refund, then they chose to let us all know there was a $400 order, so basically they weren't going to be taking anyone else's order. Wanted to try it because we saw it all over passing through and it looked good while we were inside. I placed an order for 3 burritos which should've taken no more than 15 minutes especially since it wasn't that busy when I got there. They tell me to go park in the back & wait for my order, so I do. I wait 20 minutes & I start to become impatient because I see people that arrived after me getting their orders. I ask the guy that is taking the orders outside where mine is, he proceeds to tell me that "it's on its way" i wait another 10 minutes.. at this point i'm done with this, I get my refund & move on with my day. Horrible experience, the staff are very very unhelpful & super unorganized. First time trying Blake's. Due to covid they aren't doing indoor seating and everyone was only going through the drive-thru. We used the mobile phone ordering system which was a robot similar to SIRI but super easy and convenient. When we arrived they weren't able to find our order by name however, providing the last 4 digits of the phone number used to place the order worked out just fine. I typically always get sausage burritos when doing a breakfast burrito due the the fact that I can never taste the bacon. The bacon burrito from Blake's completely changed my mind. They put so much bacon in the burrito that you taste crunchy and salty bacon with every bite. The "Christmas style sauce" which is green and red sauce was an amazing surprise as well. read more

We were searching for a quick food place for lunch on our road trip and Blake's was amazing! The LOTA Burger "New Mexico Style" was delicious! The burger was cooked perfectly and the green Chile had amazing flavor. The chicken sandwich and onion rings were also sooo good! The staff are also very kind and helpful. Because of the construction happening around the building, we became trapped in the parking lot while towing a trailer. Emiliano (we think that's his name) was so amazing to come help us twice. I'm from the LA area and am passing through to Texas. Stopped across the street to get gas and almost went to the big company food chain when I happened to see the "LOTA Burger sign. So I decided to try it out. I am so glad I came here!!! I got the New Mexico style burger and seasoned fries. I was surprised that the patties were such a good size, everything was fresh and the burger was hot! Fresh! Season fries were good too. Horrible, Horrible, HORRIBLE service!! I recommend going to a different location or pick a different fast food restaurant. Customer service was very horrible. Several customers asked for a refund because they were waiting for over an hour. It took 4 people to do a simple refund. Management was not helpful at all. All employees, except the young girl at the register, were ignoring customers. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE! Communication is key in every work place, this place had no communication at all. The young girl was trying to do a refund but needed help and her associates were pointing at other associates to help her and the manager wasn't helpful to her at all. Best burger ever I've ever had! Service was friendly and fast! The only frustration I have is the yelp app wants the review to be longer or post as a tip. We stopped in on 7/20/18 around 3:45pm, we received a friendly greeting as we entered. The restaurant had a few customers but not too busy, well not until after we ordered. It was like the crowd followed us. The sitting area was clean and there was sufficient seating. Their fries are all right, but the NM burger is one of the best drive-thru burgers I've had in a while. Definitely if you're driving through this is a much better quick option than other fast food chains. As a devotee of fry sauce and all other mayonnaise-based sauces I was especially happy with their "Blake sauce". It's spicy, and little bit smoky and chunky.
