I have been wanting to try this place for so long and finally got the chance to do so!! I went during lunch time and they were super busy, but they were doing well at managing the tables. I ordered the famous stuffed sopapilla and I it was dripping with goodness!!! Talk about cooked to perfection, with the medley of green chile and other varieties of flavors. Let's just say that it did not last long at all on my plate!!! I think that the portion sizes were great and I was very full, and felt like I got my moneys worth. Our Waitress was bursting with personality, and made sure to check on us to see if we were doing okay! We ate here after driving up from Chinle. We had intended to go to Ed's Café, but couldn't find it. Finally, we settled We settled on this restaurant overall. MEH. Service was good. We both ordered Navajo tacos. The fry bread was more like ""Pizza edge", pizza crust, which is great, but it's not an Indian or Navajo fry bread. The green salsa was excellent, the red salsa was OK. The meat, which was ground beef, I did not care for it. Left an aftertaste like it was going bad or something. They use whole beans as supposed to refried beans which was good and the shredded lettuce and vegetables were also OK. Overall, if I had to go back there again, I wouldn't order the Navajo taco. I might try something else, if it's only a bowl of that green chili and tortilla. read more

Ate here again a few days ago after a looong break. I took a break because the service was so bad. However, this time it was much improved. The food was also good as always. Cinco de Domingos is an excellent family-run restaurant in the Navajo Nation Capital of Window Rock. It is located within walking distance of the Quality Inn, the only hotel in town. The restaurant features mostly Mexican with some American cuisine. Chips and Salsa were complimentary, with one free refill. They were provided promptly when we were seated. The salsa was fresh, and had just the right bite to it. The special the night we were there was NY strip, two cheese enchiladas, beans, rice, and tortilla for $10.99. The obverse of the special board had Ribeye two cheese enchiladas, beans, rice, and tortilla for $12.99, so I have a feeling steak specials are offered several times a week. I ordered the special, which was very delicious. The steak was cooked to temperature, and was a thin strip. It was not particularly seasoned, but still had good flavor. The red sauce on the cheese enchiladas was also a nice blend of flavor and temperature. The rice and bean portions were a bit meager, but still had good flavor. My wife ordered the two item combo with chile relleno, enchilada and taco, which she thoroughly enjoyed. The chile pepper on the relleno had a good amount of heat to it, and she had that pleasure/pain look all through her meal. She thought it was one of the best she had eaten in some time. The children's menu offered a good selection with decent prices. It had both Mexican and American items. Our daughter got the beef taco, which she liked alot. The restaurant was about half-full on a Thursday night at dinnertime, so I suspect it gets packed on Friday and Saturday nights, as well as when any big games are on. The restaurant had about 3-4 big flatscreen TVs with various sports on. The staff is all Navajo, and they provided outstanding service. We were greeted warmly at the door, with typical Diné friendliness. The waitstaff and bussers often stopped by to offer refills or just to check if everything was ok. The restaurant also served breakfast and lunch, but we did not try them at that time. Finally, they offered a military discount for Active Duty service members. This is not surprising, as the Navajos value Military service and have a rich military tradition from WWII up to our present day wars. If you are visiting the area, and are looking to eat, I recommend you give them a try! read more

If you find yourself in Window Rock (and I can't imagine why you would!), you must, must, must try Cocina De Dominguez. It has all the appeal of a NJ Diner -- which the room reminded me of! But oh my goodness, the food is amazing! The chips and salsa are terrific! I had the #1 combo and I highly recommend it. My husband had fajitas which were also terrific. The portions are very generous and you sure won't leave hungry. The service is cordial and helpful. Everything was hot, fresh and yummy -- don't miss it! read more

ABODABO. Everything else is your average Mexican dish. At $10-15, they're a little pricey. BUT the abodabo alone warrants a 5-star review. Also, endless chips and salsa (which is pretty delicious and spicy btw) confirms the star rating as well. read more

Can't particularly comment on anything except the steak chimi lunch combo. It was 13 out the door. But, my particular comment is about the time I went and one component of my meal. I asked for the combo (comes with a small scoop of rice and refried beans) and instead of the regular meat I'd like steak to be the meat. That's where it went wrong, steak was tough and chewy and lacked any seasoning or even hints of lime or marinade. Cut into smaller pieces it was manageable but without the flavor the rest of the dish was lackluster. As a local I always eat with a grain of salt but literally this time I had to add it myself. I'd maybe try another day, not noon on a weekday to give them another shot. read more

Located east of Route 12, just north of Hwy 264. Genuine Mexican restaurant with a touch of Navajo. Had the Navajo taco...typical Mexican ingredients of beans, meat, and vegies, with red or green chili (made from the good stuff from Hatch, NM), on Navajo frybread. Delicious. read more

So happy we strolled into this place from a long day of driving. I tried to stick with the local cuisine so I had myself a Navajo Taco. The GREEN CHILE was exceptional! I had to get an extra order to take it To-Go. Our wait staff, Jeri, was very helpful and attentive with our needs regarding Points of Interests and cultural customs as visitors to this beautiful land. The food is good, not as tasty as it 'could be', the manager/owner Brian and Julie are the best! The day is best for service, where as the night cooks are sloppy and very unprofessional, servers are always courteous, it's really too bad they get the short end of the stick. My wife and I stopped in for lunch in early July 2013. I had the Frito pie, which was probably the best I've ever had. She had posole, which was unusually good. This restaurant is very busy (at least for lunch), since it's one of only two restaurants in Window Rock that have table service. The chips and salsa aren't anything to write home about, but the rest of the meal made me eager to return. read more

Went here 2 weeks ago and it was not busy. Food seemed cold, piping hot would have been nice. The chimichangas appeared microwaved, crust was thick and crunchy. Chips n salsa were OK. Rice and beans were average. The cheese on the chimi appeared cold, partially melted. It's under new management but willing to give it one more try though. I love the bathroom mirror and tile. Haha.
