What's up peoples, been a minute. Stopped by this place on my way to the Navajo Nation, it was a cold January so had to order something to warm me up. Check it out. Green Chile Stew - Cuts of Stewed Beef, Carrots, Potatoes, Celery and some Hot Green Chile served with a side of Tortillas. I thought it was delicious! Didn't care too much for the tortillas, might opt for the sopapillas next time but the stew was great. Definitely recommend if you can handle the spicyness. Combo Platter - Choice of three, had the Tamale, Relleno and Enchilada, Xmas style (red and green Chile) served with a side of Rice and Beans. Thought it was okay, stew was definitely better. Also had the Chips and Salsa to start, was good but the salsa could have been spicier. Our server was great, very nice and gave some good recommendations. Was very quiet so the atmosphere was good, also have a bar next door. It was my first time here but definitely recommend the stew, have to try more of the menu next time. But give it a go. read more

Staff was friendly didn't have to wait to be taken care of and food came promptly. My issue is that the Margherita pizza wasn't good. The crust was ok but it didn't have sauce (which is technically acceptable) but had beefsteak tomatoes and thick slices of mozzarella, some basil and lots of garlic. Traditionally you will either have San Marzano tomatoes or a Marinara sauce with thin slices of Buffalo mozzarella and whole basil leaves. Instead they used bland beefsteak tomatoes and big globs of mozzarella that was difficult to bite through. And way too much garlic. Not an enjoyable pizza in my estimation. I ordered a large planning on taking the rest home and enjoying it tomorrow. Instead I barely ate three slices and left it there. Perhaps I should have ordered a cheese pizza instead. Never eat here its disgusting I and my family went tonight on Dec 22nd. The appetizers were ok However, I ordered the lasagna, and it was a thin sheet like paper thin swimming in what looked to be water I also had a salad with Italian dressing the dressing was not Italian and came in a portion cup the dressing was a off green color and when I put it on my salad it was a nasty jelly like ball n I poked at it with my fork n the center was all black was rotten That made my stomach upset so to the bathroom where the floor has mold all over and no hand soap the lid of the soap dispenser was just setting in the soap well and inside was full of mold and garbage so I checked the ladys bathroom no soap there either To think no one who goes to the restroom in that place washes their hands so disgusting read more

The Rocket Cafe WAS one of our favorite places to eat. My Grandson always picked it when it was his turn to pick where we would eat out. He picked The Rocket on 12.09.23. This will be the last time we will eat there. I am fully aware that food costs as well as overhead expenses have increased and have not minded paying the moderate extra when we eat out but have also expected and appreciated the same quality food & service. Our last previous visit to The Rocket was in September. The first thing I noticed was that all the prices had increased by $3-$4.00 an item. This would have been acceptable except the next thing we found out from the waitress was that salad was no longer included with the entrees. They had to be purchased separately. My Granddaughter and I both wanted salads, so we went ahead and ordered them. Although they were only moderately busy, (it was midafternoon), service was extremely slow. When we finally received our salads, they were obviously from bagged salad. There were some brown & dried out pieces, and the bagged salad preservative taste was prevalent. The salad dressing was thin and watery. When our entrees were finally served, the pasta sauce was bland and watered down. Everything was lukewarm and the pasta and cheese were rubbery. The waitress never bothered to check back with us to see if we needed anything and we were never offered refills for our drinks. (Another cost cutting tactic??) We finished our meal and when the waitress brought our ticket, there was a cash total and a card total $3.00 higher that the cash total. I have NEVER paid a card transaction fee at a restaurant! The total I paid for our disappointing meal was $22.00 (excluding the tip) over what I paid for our last meal at The Rocket. I don't believe they deserve any stars and I would advise everyone to avoid The Rocket. read more

Decided to try their Valentine's Day menu and see if it was worth the value. Sadly , they ran out of salad and was asked to wait while they made more. The steak and shrimp was average at best and nothing to brag about. The advertised they had deserts for after , but sadly out of tiramisù. Didn't feel especially special on this day for lovers and definitely didn't feel loved. Maybe I'll try a different place next year as this wasn't what it used to be. Disappointed!!! read more

Not a very friendly place. I went there with my Native American friends and my friends were ignored and treated very bad. I do not recommend this place. We didn't finish our meals - of which the sauce was very runny and just not up to par. We ended up getting up and leaving - starved all the way to Albuquerque. Good ol' Italian restaurants in Albuquerque. Authentic and old country Italians who know their stuff. I will NOT be stopping off in Gallup - especially at such a low dive. The bathrooms were filthy. The one thing they have going is how quickly our pizzas were delivered. We ordered the Mediterranean and the bbq chicken and both were extremely dry. The place is 2 miles from us and both pizzas were room temperature when they arrived as was the combo appetizer platter we ordered - which is entirely deep fried. Over priced pizza, for sure. No medium pizza should be $20, but this was our first and last time trying this place. read more

Yuck. What did I just eat? Ok, let's go back about 30 minutes before I was sick in the bathroom vomiting everything I just ordered. I see why they call it Rocket Cafe. $26.48 for a 13" by 14" pizza. Large pizza? I do not think so. The box was a large box. Opened it and thought, really, a small pizza in a large box. It tastes good. Crust is not edible (hard as a rock). I am glad to mark this place off my bucket list and will not be returning. read more

Passing thru town, 10 hours on the road we thought the menu looked great and also they delivered. We ordered the large rocket pizza (one of there specialty pizza's) ($25.00). It arrived super fast but cold, makes me wonder how they could cook and deliver a pizza in 30 minutes, it also looked like it had been dropped. The flavor was moderate and also dry. I ordered through their online service and they tracked my order. I ordered pizza, boneless wings, and fries. It took about an hour, which seems like the norm around here in Gallup. The pizza was lukewarm, but still tasted and looked pretty good. The wings, while they were hot, seemed a bit overcooked-- but they slathered it in their hot sauce, which isn't bad and my wife loved the fries. For an Italian/Pizza joint, the spaghetti was tasteless at best. No self-respecting Italian would serve this as spaghetti. The noodles were over-cooked, so squishy. The meatballs and meat sauce had no taste and the rosemary was still dry and crunchy. The meat in the sauce seemed unmixed, like it wasn't cooked in the sauce. The sauce was thick but remarkably free of garlic and flavor. If you like your own spaghetti with oregano, rosemary, and garlic, don't visit this place for the spaghetti. Extremely the WORST PLACE TO go . We ordered there chicken tacos one day soft and one hard and both where soggy at the bottom and rubbery at the top one was supposed to have red chili and one on the side and there wasn't any chili and the rice was nasty and oh my gosh the beans where sour they where spoiled and they tried to hide the spoiled taste with a lot of salt my husband got food poisoning and he ended up at the hospital later that night so I won't ever recommend rocket cafe to anyone . Rocket's Mediterranean pizza has always been good. Its ingredients are listed on the menu as: Homemade pesto sauce, roasted peppers, artichoke hearts, mozzarella, feta & parmesan cheeses. But, our takeout pizza was not even close -- if we hadn't ordered green chile added to our pie it would have only had tomato slices and cheese. Perhaps the chef ran out of artichoke hearts and roasted peppers? We'll never know... the pizza tasted good but it was disappointing in that we paid for ingredients that we didn't get. read more

Food is not that great...I've tried the spaghetti with meat sauce, the lasagna and the pizza for dinner, and all are watery or runny. Portions aren't a good size at all. Not worth the price. This place is pricey too. The only things worth the price, the desserts! That's it! And maybe the mixed drinks. Sandwich plates are good at lunch. Probably the only things I'd recommend besides the desserts. If you want great Mexican, cross the street and order at Cocina Dominguez, their lasagna is way better and more filling if you're wanting italian. Other italian dishes, head to Fratelli's. read more

Let me first off say that rocket Cafe pizza is the best pizza I've ever had in my entire life. No lie! They use nothing but FRESH Ingredients. So far we have tried the pepperoni, Mediterranean, and rocket specialty pizzas! I believe they use stone fired oven to bake the pizza. The pizza and the service was consistently good. NEVER had a undercooked, cold pizza, OR on the counter for 10 minutes. The service was also good! They refilled out drinks constantly. My mother tried the salad, needless to say it could be better for the price. The specialty pizza are the reason why we (the family) keep coming back! read more

If I could give this place a negative star I would. Continuously bad service. Runny sauce tomato sauce on lasagna, and whatever you do DO NOT get the delivery. They forget your food, do not bring the other parts (tortillas, etc..) and then have the audacity to charge a delivery fee. I keep hoping it will change. Disappointed every time. read more

Do not order Italian food. I've tried it twice and both times were awful. The alfredo has no flavor for starters. I tried the Springtime pasta and I believe frozen vegetables were used. This dish also had no flavor. I added shrimp both times and it reminds me of cocktail shrimp. They do not sauté the shrimp. I'm pretty sure they were microwaved. (I believe this because they had a rubbery texture). It's unfortunate that this is the only restaurant that delivers aside from pizza places (to my knowledge). read more

Not that great. Ordered a "Italian Sub" got a dry roll with lettuce, onion,and tomatoes; the meats consisted of Ham and Turkey. The cheese was I think provolone and that was the only "Italian" going on in this sub, steer clear out-of-towners go some place else spend your hard earned money elsewhere. read more

Worst place to eat. The food and service was terrible! When we asked the server for the manger she told us she's wasn't there.

I've eaten here more than a few times and food is OK. However, service is slower than most in Gallup and wait staff is rude. Their location is terrible for customers but great for their business. They are located across the street from a Plasma Center where a multitude of street folks go to sell plasma for money to buy booze. These folks then come over to the package liquor store operated by the restaurant to feed their addiction, and to hang around outside the restaurant and general area. The Rocket is not doing a service to the community from this standpoint. If you eat here, you have to turn a blind eye to what the business is really about. Support another local restaurant who doesn't make money off the addictions of others. read more

Food was delivered to our hotel room late and cold. We spent $42.00 for a dinner we could not eat and the restaurant could not care less. This place was recommended by our hotel in the room guest book but after our experience we talked to a few of the hotel staff and they commented that they would never eat there or recommend it to anyone. read more
