I had the Barbacoa burrito it was very flavorful and the spices were just right. Service & price were great for the amount of food they served. I've been craving some carne asada tacos and this place went above and beyond my expectations. The asada came out on a piping skillet! The meat was seasoned very well and everything tasted amazing. My partner had a carne asada chimichanga. He loved it! The chimi was freshly fried and was very spicy. This little tienda is located in the back of a grocery store. It's kinda difficult to find if you aren't from these parts, but this tienda is well worth the search. read more

I order from this place everyday the same order. They gave me the wrong order and I called and they said they would replace it. I have certain dietary restrictions and cannot eat certain things. After they said they would replace the order, the owner calls me and was very rude and said it was my fault and she would not replace the order. I will never order from this place again. Gallup overflows with Mexican food restaurants but this seldom discovered Mexican food gem will not lure you from the road unless you have prior knowledge because Alicia's lies hidden along on the town's segment of old Route 66 in the back of Lowe's, one of the town's main chain grocery stores. It is the locals that keep Alicia's hopping at breakfast and lunch. Even town folk who have never chomped into one of her excellent burritos or applied fork to one of her piping hot combo dishes are likely familiar with the cafe's tongue biting jalapeno enriched salsa always available fresh by the pint next to the refrigerated flour and corn tortillas in the back of the store. read more

So after a dismal continental breakfast at the Days Inn in which it took a 30 minute wait to make one waffle, I came up with the brilliant idea of grabbing breakfast burritos and a coffee before hitting the road instead of suffering through warm yogurt, fruit loops and questionable hard boiled eggs. I insisted, of course, that we choose Alicia's because the name says express and why, we're in a hurry. My husband begrudgingly complies as we drive past multiple acceptable looking Mexican food joints on MY epic mission to find this 5-star rated breakfast burrito. With that said, a couple things cause me to rate this down from the awesomeness that other yelpers proclaim: First, finding it is IMPOSSIBLE because the address is WRONG. We drove to the yelp location near the airport and alas, they are not there. When I called the gal was very friendly (huge plus) and told me that they were located inside the Lowes Grocery store. She failed to tell this out of towner that there are two Lowes Grocery stores, so of course we went to the wrong one first. Of course. And at this point I'm starving and undercaffeinated. And did I mention I'm starving? Second, the burritos were decent, but not rolled well so the goodies inside fell out all over the place. Not the best for eating whilst on the go. Also, the tortillas had a good flavor but were a bit chewy and slightly tough like they had been reheated. So that was obviously disappointing. Third, there was nothing "express" about getting the burritos made. And if you aren't from Gallup, it's somewhat alarming waiting ANY length of time in the parking lot of a grocery store alone with your children while armed guards are walking around. Good grief! Let's just say I don't think I'll search it out so diligently my next time through. read more

Alicia's is hard to find if you're not a local (inside the Loews grocery store at Route 66 and Ford Canyon Dr), but the food is very good. Everything is made to order so it's hot and fresh when you eat. I like the green chile breakfast burritos and the shrimp tacos as well. It can get very busy at lunchtime so be prepared to wait a bit if you hit it at the rush. read more

Stopped for a breakfast burrito on our way through town. This restaurant is in the back of Lowe's supermarket. It was clean and the service was very friendly. We ordered vegetarian burritos smothered in red chili which were amazing! They special made a potato and bean burrito with onion and green chili on the inside smothered with red chili on the outside. They didn't mind the special request and were very accommodating. Would highly recommend it as the food was delicious! read more

I know what you are thinking - "A restaurant in the back of a low-cost grocery store? This can't end well" except it does. It TOTALLY does! Their picture menu really helps beckon your eyes to be larger than your tummy because the portions here are generous. The chips and salsa are a fave of ours because the texture and consistency is on par and the heat is great! My daughter loves their kids burros and tacos and I adore their enchiladas and chimichangas! The service is quick and gets the job done. This is the local spot, hidden, but always busy. If you are driving through Gallup, there is no way to find this place, you have to know someone who knows where it's at. The prices of the food is cheap in comparision to other places. I recommend the carne asada tacos, you'll get a sizzling plate of yumminess! Easily the best lunch spot in Gallup -- fast, delicious, and cheap! The trick is finding it (it is inside the Lowe's Shop and Save grocery store on Route 66). Abysmally terrible food. Possibly the worse Mexican food (if you want to call it that) I've ever experienced. The gentleman working the front is incredibly nice and helpful. I want to make it clear the 1 star is purely for the horrible food. All the staff here were very nice to us. It's just that when you read the reviews and then you get there and you see all the Mexican staff you get your hopes up. We had vegetarian tacos and a chorizo burrito. Both were tasteless. Not even cilantro on either. No spices either. I mean, come on!!! Mexican cuisine is some of the best cuisine on the damned planet, it's spice complexity rivaled only by Indian cuisine. You just want some flavor in your food when you come to a place like this. Even the guacamole was bland, tasting of solely avocado- no cumin, oregano, garlic, or even onions. Such a disappointment after driving for 8 hours straight and being famished. You'd do better going to a fast food place somewhere else. Terrible. read more
