Okay, so we ate at Denny's when we were in Hawaii! We would avoid it at home, but we were starving and it was breakfast time. Low blood sugar loomed ahead of us, as we hadn't had time to get groceries. We saw the $5.99 breakfast special sign in the window and dashed for a table. We did get quick friendly service, and ordered right away. I got a Mango Smoothie, which turned out to be big and refreshing. My beau got the huge breakfast, his main meal of the day, with pancakes, bacon, hash browns and over-easy eggs, all done right. We did notice that the place was packed. A couple of big tables looked like regulars who worked nearby. The total bill was around $12.00, and we went away full and happy. read more

When you don't have a clue where to go to eat, want something filling, and are on a budget, Dennys is the place to go. No matter what time! They have a 2,4,6,8 menu that has some great stuff. I always end up ordering the chicken potato skillet on that menu, it comes out hot and sizzling. Very good. Also ordered the specialty dulche de leche crunch pancakes, and I must say, it's almost so sweet that it doesn't even need extra syrup! You can make fancy-kine with the sauce it comes with though! :) this is a must for people that aren't afraid of eating dessert-like foods for breakfast (meanwhile, we came at dinnertime, so I guess that would make it eating dessert for breakfast for dinner? Haha! Ok) Minus one star because the service and time to get your food is not consistent. The service is great! The food is plentiful! What more can I say except "which one do I choose?" So many great choices with so many options to either add on, take out or just aaaauugghhhh! The choices lol So I came here for breakfast today and had 3 great choices to choose from the French Toast Slam, the Belgian Waffle Slam or the Grand Slam Slugger! OMG! Hurry before she comes back!! She already brought my coffee and water and made her rounds and said she'd give me a few more minutes. I knew that I should've read the menu at home before coming. The first time I ate at this location was almost a year ago...a week after they opened and I gave them the benefit of the doubt especially because they didn't take our order right away and when it was noticed...we were give 50% off our meal. Last week, I was here for a meeting with other ladies from our church. First thing I noticed as I read the menu... NO MEATLOAF!!! What the? I searched throughout the ENTIRE MENU even the senior menu (even though I have about 15-20 years more to go) and there was NO MEATLOAF!!! How can Denny's remove meatloaf from their menu?! That's right..I am crybabying about no meatloaf at Denny's. I didn't want their chicken fried steak I didn't want their cheeseburger. Note...there is no regular cheeseburger but a double cheeseburger. However, in small print below the double cheeseburger, you can order the "classic cheeseburger". Nevertheless, I eventually ordered chicken fried steak with mash potatoes and broccoli. When the plate arrived... The flavor of the dishes was acceptable but the appearance and contents of the two orders missed what was described in the on-line menu. Very bad experience and definitely will not comeback to Kapolei location. There were not only inserts crawling on the booth seat but the server, Vanasa D was unpleasant and rude when I brought to her attention that the check she gave us is wrong as has garden salad on it that we never ordered or received. She never removed it form the bill but additionally added $0.99 for additional hot buffalo sauce for my Hot Chicken Melt sandwich which was to came with that sauce. Side note, I did take a video of the crawling insects even after they wiped the seat down when we brought to their attention invasion of tiny crawling insects. read more

The cashier / manager named Lani had to look over her shoulder to say something cause she had that look knowing no one was being acknowledged by the hostess as they came in But I have to say that the waitress Annette was terrific she was very nice & had an awesome positive attitude & the bus boys were on top of clearing the table " good job " Food is always good at Denny's no matter what state I'm in there consistent , I do have to say I'm pleased with the manager lani as we were paying for our bill she asked if we were going to the movies an I had that puzzled look an said yes , that when she said if I had my online or printed ticket on me we get a 20% discount on our meal ...I thought that was just so awesome !! If I could give this place 1/2 star I would. I normally am not funky but when I have elderly seniors and a disabled adult I sont expect to wait 1/2 hr for just water. I totally understand when a restaurant is crowded and everyone is eating out. Yes I get it. But we sat down nobody came to serve us and after I called a server over sitting 20 mins, I thought ok it'll get better. Not the case 1/2,hr later my husband got up to see about where our waitress went and she seemed overwhelmed. Took our order and waited another 40 min to get our food. I came here for breakfast. Usually the food is pretty good and I don't really have much to complain about. But this particular day things were just subpar all around. I took my son here because he loves their themed kid's pancake, especially during Christmas time when they shape and design their pancake to look like Rudolf. I got the All American Slam and added a short stack on the side for $2. My son got some kind of cinnamon crumble pancake which he liked a lot. My food wasn't so great. I love bacon. But my bacon came burnt. Not a little charred on the edge, but burnt. Basically overcooked to the point that they were brittle. I don't know why they would even bother to serve it burnt. The toast was fine. My potato hash needed more time on the flat top. They didn't have the crunch that I look for. They actually were saturated in oil so it fell apart when you tried to pick it up with your fork. My side of pancake was forgotten about until I inquired about it. The scrambled eggs that came with my meal was lacking fluff. They were dense and either needed to be whipped better, or maybe even needed a touch of milk to help it get fluffy. My son didn't touch his scrambled egg either because they were the same dense looking yellow blob on the plate. Taste wise for the eggs was fine. It was the texture that was wrong. I imagine if I were to chew on a piece of soft rubber that would be what I experienced eating my eggs. My pancakes were good. Our server was nice. She tried to quickly remedy forgetting my short stack. I can forgive that oversight as she was busy. All in all, was this enough for me to throw in the towel on this place? Probably not. As my son will see a commercial that they have the Rudolf pancake during the holidays and he will request to go. Usually when I come it's a 3 to even a 4 star experience. This was a bad day for them. There are quite a few breakfast places in Kapolei. Denny's needs to up their game if they are to survive here in Kapolei. read more

It was Easter Sunday and we were looking for a good breakfast joint to grub at. We passed Kunia Denny's and it was crowded so ended up coming out to Kapolei Denny's. We first got there and the lady taking names got our name wrong she put it down under a totally different name, which was fine I guess because we didn't wanna correct her lol. We sat outside for a good 20 min, even though they said the wait would be 10 min. It wasn't too too crowded because when we sat down eventually there were a few empty tables here and there. Food: We got a Chorizo skillet thing which came out first, it was soooo hot that he burned his mouth eating, my food still wasn't out yet it probably came about 10 min after the skillet came out. I got blueberry pancakes and that hashbrown with eggs and one sausage and one bacon... Lol I knew that it came with 2 meats. But I thought it was 2 bacons and 2 sausages lol. Oh well. Food over all besides the waiting was good. I did enjoy the pancakes but the eggs were too over cooked and I wish I had more meat the hashbrowns were perfect. Staff: Our waitress was nice, the only thing I'd wish is that she came to check on us more often, only once to take our order, bring our food, and then the check. Service here is much better than the Kunia location. Much faster and accurate! There's always new specials that they add to their menu and there's always something different we find instead of the same menu. I also enjoy that they serve breakfast all day which is my favorite kinda food but I'm never up early in time to get breakfast unless the hubby wakes me up in time. The special at the moment that we got to try was the blueberry pancake puppies! It was just as good as the original pancake puppies with the cinnamon and sugar! My husband got the Moon Over My Hammy meal which I didn't get a picture of but I ordered the new peanut butter pancake meal which comes with hash brown, 2 eggs, and choice of meat (I love my bacon), and we also shared zesty nachos! On another note: A random act of kindness happens tonite that I'd like to share... I'm hoping this reaches the young lady who paid for our meal at Denny's Kapolei tonite 02/08/18 around 9:30pm. THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts!!!! This young lady paid for at least 4, if not more, other tables and a waitress came by to tell all the tables that "the young lady at the register with the little girl (about 5 years old) paid for everyone's meal and everything is covered but she'd like to stay anonymous." NEVER had my husband or I ever had this kind of random act of kindness and it left us so speechless. With all the bad that goes on these days there really are genuinely good hearted people around us. Normally I don't have a problem with Denny's and their waitresses Are friendly and all of that , but tonight was the 2nd time in maybe the last 3 years that I had an not so excusable issue. Ordered the sirloin steak ... Cooked medium with fries and veggies for my sides plus they give the bread that's part of the meal. When it came to me I saw blood on the plate which I never see for a Medium cooked steak. I checked the steak and said ok the steak looks medium cooked so just was gonna wipe the blood off the plate , when I moved the food around I then noticed the blood was all around my plate , under my fries and under my bread so bread was soggy with blood . I could have asked for another meal but just wiped all the blood out and took out some of the fries and wasn't gonna eat the bread and set all that aside. Mentioned it to the waitress and she says "I'll bring you another one "... I said no need and She brought out just another bread . What I really wanted was to let the cook know that this should have never happened to begin with. She told the manager and so what they did was give me a discount she said but it was an AARP discount taken off when I looked at the receipt , we already have AARP , so it wasn't really any added discount to what we were already entitled , but one thing I noticed being this was a 2nd major mistake is that they will never give full credit for a meal they screwed up on or a 50% discount and the managers rarely face you to apologize .... It's done from the waitress saying my Mgr said they are sorry. The first time they never apologized. Just need to improve on mgmts side making good when they screw up and don't be afraid to give a full discount fir a meal or at least 50% off when the situation warrants it. Next time I'll just ask for the whole thing to be redone . Had I been my old self I may have been more verbal but I just wasn't feeling like being an ass and making a scene Just making a point and for them to correct these type of things so they don't happen again because I like eating there . Much better than my last experience at the Kaneohe location. Ordered a "make your own" omelette with hash browns and toast. Only issue I have is that I added avocado but only until I got bill did I realize it wasn't in my omelette but we were charged for it. Couldn't complain especially since my plate was empty. I've eaten here several times and the food has been pn par with the other Denny's I've eaten....until Saturday! Major disappointment. I ordered the Brooklyn spaghetti and meatballs, which I did get the disappointment was when it arrives the noodles were room temperature as was the bread and even meatballs. It didn't seem they were even heated up as the inside of the meatballs were not hot. I can't blame the server as he delivered the food in a reasonable time that it should have been at least warm. Thirty seconds in a microwave would have been better. I definitely lost my taste for spaghetti and won't order that again. Everyone has a bad.day occasionally and I hope that was theirs.
