The nachos only came with a small pile of cheese and sour cream on the side, the pancakes were missing the whip cream, and the Benedict only had one egg. After the uber driver dropped it off and I called the restaurant, the person I spoke to first tried to argue and tell me it was packed correctly, and then told me I should contact uber instead. I am the duchess of this place with 76 check ins and I don't even check in every time I come! I don't eat bacon and have always been able to substitute avocado for the bacon. Today the waitress Sandi said the manager said no more substitutions. Hope it was worth it because I won't be back! Been a loyal customer for years! Time to find a new breakfast joint! read more

It's Denny's, so I guess you don't expect too much of the food. For the most part the food is not innovative, it's just diner food and you go there expecting it to be adequate. They get that part right here. I honestly just order breakfast food here. It's pretty hard to mess up breakfast food. The problem with this location is service. It's not consistent. It was alright the first couple times we came here, not great, but not terrible. On our most recent visit it was not acceptable. Our server forgot more than a few items and had to be reminded several times. I don't like going anywhere where the server sighs every time someone at the table asks for part of their meal that he forgot to bring. I get that he didn't want to work and doesn't like his job, but that's really an issue with the management here, which is severely lacking. Probably the highlight of this Denny's is the crane machine by the front counter. I'm pretty sure Denny's doesn't even own it though, but my lil dude enjoys winning stuffed animals out of there, so thanks for that Denny's. read more

The staff is really too familiar with the customers. I understand that over qualified people might be working at lower jobs now. But, people don't often go to restaurants to socialize with friends of the staff. It makes me feel extremely uncomfortable, and invaded. Food was okay but the server Johny was rude, lacked personality and customer service. He came once to check on us but doted on another large group if his ethic background with smiles and friendliness. Upon paying for our meal the host, asked me if I wanted to leave a tip. If I could give this place a 0 I would. My family and I literally just walked out of this place because of the terrible service. Never got greeted as we walked in. Then a worker finally talked to us saying "how many" and that he was going to get a table ready. 15mins went by and nothing. Mind you there was a bunch of empty tables. So we ended up flagging someone down and finally got sat, then of course nothing for another 20mins. No one came by, no one got us drinks... NOTHING!! Basically got ignored and no one even cared. Walked out and never coming back to this crappy place since they don't want to give us any service. Came to eat breakfast and started with 3 cups of coffee, as soon as my sister drank some she noticed food floating in her cup. We told the server and she wasn't even apologetic at all, just said "ok" and took the cup. We were too grossed out to eat and let the manager know who looked like he couldn't care less with "okay sorry about that". Quick and Eazy! Most of the time Dennys Delivers. It's been along time so actually checking out the menu was a treat. I came across Dennys Fit Slam! Ok let's check this out. $8.99 egg white scramble with spinach and grape tomatoes, turkey bacon, English muffin and seasonal fruit. They even have a chicken sausage, which made my day, in the Bay Area chicken sausage is found everywhere and turkey bacon and soy this and that so the chicken sausage exciting. I sub the tomatoes for avocado of course that's extra lol. With Starbucks line out the door I even tried the coffee at Dennys! It was great they now have flavor creamers like Hazelnut and Vanilla so I hooked my coffee up and enjoyed a great meal of about 550 calories perfecto! Yah I'm. Met my brother and his family and enjoyed the morning. I had some pancakes and mixed fruit. My sister-in-law had two pancakes with a walnut caramel with cream on top. That was scrumptious! The only bad part was that it took some time to order, and then for our food to come, and to get the check. But I couldn't hold them responsible of too much for the slow Service as it was Memorial Day. We used to call this the rock and roll Denny's back in my day. Punk Rock Denny's. I'm honestly surprised it's taken me hundreds of reviews to review one of the places I grew up with and still patron to this day. No one knows why it's called Punk Rock Denny's, but I do--at least this is the story that has been passed down to me. You see, there used to be a DK emblem tagged into the post by the newspaper stands. I don't know if it's still there, but I'm almost positive it isn't. In its place is now a "PUNK FUCKING ROCK" sign carved into the wood. I believe the name originated sometime in the early to mid 90s while I was still in high school, though some contend it was from the late 80s. It's pretty much the awesomest Denny's ever. One time I spent a good 20-24 hours there just drinking coffee as an aimless teenager. You know the servers love you when they don't kick you out for not ordering anything. I remember the rooms used to be separated by a wall, but they remodeled and took it down sometime in the late 90s. There was a back room as well where we used to hold high school related functions. It was this Denny's that lead us to become the intellectual thinkers of our time. We would spend hours and hours contemplating life and trying to figure out our next move in life. I'd come here after school, after drinking, after taking exams at Grossmont college, after a day of complete daily doldrums. The server who is owed the most credit is Elisa, an older, feisty lady who always gave us a laugh and new how to make us smile. She was everyone's "momma" and there was just this nice feeling you got when Elisa would say, "Don't worry about it, I'll take care of you, honey." Yup. We all hung out here, and it is here we learned to be social creatures. We learned the value of friendship. We also learned how to think for ourselves, capturing our own individuality, while not sacrificing community. I highly recommend this Denny's to anyone. Anywhere. read more

For lucky review 100, I had to cover the Navajo Denny's. If you grew up in the East County, chances are you have been here at 1:00 a.m., drinking coffee and visiting people at other booths. This is the place where all the cool kids hung out in high school. Between 1992 - 1996 (my high school years), I came here a lot, usually after a night of shenans, and feasted on my usual of seasoned fries with ranch dressing. I have a lot of good memories associated with this place. Now, the man and I usually come here after a bit of gambling out on the Indian Reservations. We do it out of convenience, mainly, but I have the nostalgia to re-live. That aside, if you are over 18 and have no care to come here at 1:00 a.m. to hang out with the kids, you are probably here for a meal. I don't think I need to review the food because most of us know what it is like....think diner food, but mass-produced, with no heart. It feeds well for little money, but you can get real diner food from real diners that tastes so much better. The night we were here (I think on Labor Day), it was dead. Only a couple other people were there. The servers were bored and at one point, were watching us eat, which creeped me out. Other downers... 1. There was a CRACK in my water glass. For real. Served to me. I noticed it before I drank for it, but how did he not??? 2. No bread was served with my soup. 3. We had to ask for refills TWO times before getting them (I mean...there was NO ONE there. He was not busy unless you call watching us busy). Memories aside, the service was lacking big time. I had to grade this place harshly because of it. OH.....Punk Rock Denny's? I have never heard of this location being called that. For memories alone, 4 stars. This is "PFR" Denny's. "Punk F***ing ROCK" Denny's. I was not in the crew who named it that, but it definitely carried over through the years. Someone carved its nickname on the pole by the newspaper machine (the very same one I used to sit on top of to do crossword puzzles in college.) This place is going downhill. The service is ok but the atmosphere and cleanliness is getting very poor. My family and I decided to grab a quick meal. As soon as we arrive the place was just gross. Food all over the empty tables where customers have clearly left some time ago. The floor was the same way, filthy. I know sometimes things get a little backed up with the "crew" hustling to keep the place decent, but this was not the case. I witnessed the workers standing around long enough that SOMEONE could've addressed the cleanliness issue. No one did and to top it off, a portion of the meal arrived overcooked. Denny's? Are you kidding me? 4 1/2 stars? There's some major problems with every review for this restaurant: 1) If you write reviews on Yelp, why would you even consider reviewing a Denny's? 2) This is a chain whose mainstay is to make breakfast foods, yet all the franchises in this chain manage to somehow screw up the easiest-to-prepare foods in the entire industry. 3) It's great that they're open all day and night (hence the star), but how many times do you need to eat a soggy fried chicken salad with no flavor that tastes like New Orleans the morning after Katrina? How can you screw up breakfast? There are no real culinary mysteries that Denny's has mastered, and I'm surprised the whole chain can stay in business. 4) Every time I've eaten at any Denny's, I've sworn off going there ever again, yet because of their market tyranny I am invariably forced to go again because I'll be on the wrong stretch of road at 10:00 pm without having eaten any dinner, ready to die and kill my wife (who also gets irritable on a profoundly empty stomach), and eating their food subsequently makes me WANT to die (and/or wish she beat me to killing me). We usually only have breakfasts at Denny's (which are usually pretty good). For the first time in years we decided to come for a Denny's dinner after the Super Bowl game. The place was mostly deserted so we got immediate seating. The menu has a good variety of dishes. I ordered the mushroom Swiss chopped steak dinner, mashed potatoes, and veggies. My GF ordered the meatloaf, tomatoes and veggies. The friendly waiter served in good time. Chopped steak covered and mashed potatoes, both with brown gravy was very tasty. Mushrooms and sauteed onions were good, too. Veggies were kind of soggy and bland :( Meatloaf is pretty good for restaurant food! All very tasty! We were heading out to Julian and decided to stop at this Denny's for breakfast. We were extremely happy with both the quality of the food and the service. The eggs were cooked as we ordered and not greasy like you find at some restaurants. The bacon was very lean and crispy as ordered. The pancakes were light and generous. Worked here a long time, though so I gotta note the other side of the coin - the best people come to this Denny's - such awesome, interesting people - was "adopted" by so many of them. Nothing better than a big group of kids (though some of them were older than me!) coming in at 1 am to make a late night shift go a little faster. The servers there were some of the best, both professionally and just as people. Never knew how they were so dedicated to the job, and their customers...I guess that's why I'm not a waitress anymore! So there's the atmosphere, at least evening and late night. Called @ 11:23am, to confirm that they had Kids Eat Free Tuesday, Wednesday, & Saturday like most Denny's. The gentlemen i spoke with confirmed they did, so we took the kids out for a family dinner. We waited for at least 7 minutes to be seated, despite there being few customers inside. Our server, was OK, but only came to see us once after bringing the food (which isn't a norm @ this location, then again, neither was the wait or any of the additional issues) & that was to bring the bill. We tipped, & proceed to the registers. The Manager @ the time (I did not catch a name) rung us up without the Kids Eat Free designation. I informed him that I had spoke with someone earlier who told us that we would be able to allow the kids eat free & provided the name. The Manager, almost snidely replied "Well they were wrong!" I informed him that nearly EVERY Denny's has the same offer & unless they are under different management (they aren't) its something offered to everyone. He gave, what I'm assuming was a discount, although it was not what the offer implied. During football season *Grossmont Griffins*, this was the spot we'd go before the game and after. All 12, sometimes 19 of us! *No joke*! But did the number of our guest slow them down?! Not at all! We kept coming here even after football season, when the parents would visit from Hawai'i. My mother, her boyfriend, and I were going out for her birthday. At first the waitress was really nice and said that because it was her birthday, I can get her meal for free. So I thought okay this is cool. Then when my folks come in and got seated, her boyfriend was racially profiled and our table was ignored for the most part. This waitress was very friendly with a party of 8 two tables down from us and they were all of the same color as her! Then one of her coworkers was about to clock into work for her shift and then she was asked to wait our table because she refused to serve "that black man." We finally got our food literally 10 minutes later. As soon as we got in the car and headed home. The boyfriend got food poisoning and started vomiting and aching all over. If you have a person that you love that's of a different color, just don't have this waitress serve you or don't even go to that location if you don't want to be discriminated and attacked. read more
