I'm kinda OBSESSED with Submarina. It's not even remotely comparable to Subway. I will always go out of my way to come here because the sandwiches never disappoints. I placed my order online and asked for an excessive amount of pickles. Apparently my definition of "excessive" is different from theirs because I definitely could've used more, keep piling them on on! Either way, the sandwich was delicious, and they even drew a funny little pickle on the wrapper, which made me laugh. The employees are always great too. So good! Very nice and friendly employees. We go here maybe once every other week, always slaps. Tuna w smoked cheddar is my fave. We typically don't sit inside (only order to go), but it's kept clean and AC seems to always work. You can also order with DoorDash for pickup or delivery. Wish they would offer catering delivery, I'd use them all the time, but they do not. read more

I just got a sandwich from the Santee location and I am so pleased. The employees were extremely nice, helpful and quick. I was in and out of there within three minutes. I genuinely think submarina is the best sandwich shop in San Diego. I love that submarina uses fresh avocado and not that prepackaged avocado spread that most sandwich shops slather on your sandwich when you order avocado. This in itself sets submarina apart from so many other sandwich shops. Their Chipotle mayo is amazing and their bread options are great, too. I personally love the squaw. Not Chick-Fil-A level, but not McDonald's level either *Small "dining room". Probably wouldn't ever venture to eat here. Better as a to-go place. I just went to grab a Tuna sub like I have done quite a few times. I usually pay 17 dollars which is fine, Tonight was different though. The lady who made my sandwich barely put much tuna on it she didn't even put enough on to go to the edges of the bread and a thin layer. I didn't say anything because I'm not that girl. I went to pay and it went up to 19 dollars. So they raised prices which I get but I got a lot of bread and less tuna SO FRUSTRATING! Time to start making my own tuna subs at home!! read more

Absolutely horrible place the owner Rita sucks and is rude , they can never get online orders right and then they turn around and blame you , I had placed an order online and on my end all the orders were correct but somehow they were misprinted on their end and when I had called and even offered to come in so they can remake them correctly the owner just went ahead and remade them again messed up instead of waiting for me to bring in the sandwich and show her and to show her the receipt on my end from the online order and then when I had said these are still not correct and why couldn't you have waited for me to show you proof of the order she just said well I already remade them and I can't again so you are just going to have to take it up with the online service and this issues happens a lot with I don't know why , I don't know if maybe it's a racial issue or something because she also mentioned well did you type it out right or speak it right over the phone. So just save your money and don't come here and also the bread and the other ingredients that she's claiming she can't use to make my order correctly like it's should've been in the first time bc she can't lose more inventory when all she could've done is waiting like she said she would over the phone is always stale and old. read more

Ordered two sandwiches online and both were wrong. I had the veggie and they forgot the avocado and sprouts. The other sandwich was the Cali and it was missing sprouts and the extra dressing we paid for. Both San who he's looked very weak. I love Submarina wand I'm not sure what's going on at this location. This was our first time here and it did not disappoint! We loved our peppered Cali Sub. It comes with turkey, avocado, bacon, and provolone cheese, on the cheddar jalapeño bread. We put all the toppings on, including Italian dressing and salt and pepper. We split an Xlarge between the two of us and loved every bite! That's the way to do it! Being new to the area, I've passed by every now and then, every time I do pass by there is always a couple people inside ( that tells me that it's good) First impression staff were friendly, even went over certain things on the menu. I ordered the Cesar sand which on their jalapeño bread and omgggg it was everything and more. The turkey and toppings were fresh. The bread was soft and fluffy! I definitely will be back! read more

3.5 stars Pretty solid sandwich! I haven't been here in a few years and decided to grab a sandwich today after the gym. I remembered they had a decent turkey, bacon avocado sub. That is exactly what I ordered. Its called the "Cali" and it was delicious. I got a large one and it was $7.98. The operation is family owned (at least that what I gathered....the dad was taking orders slicing the meat and bread, the son was crisping the bacon, the daughter making the sandwich and the mom working the register). They were friendly enough. Grabbed my sandwich and went home. The sandwich itself was really good. They slice the meat right there in front of you. They put on a decent amount of meat...not piled on, but not skimp either. The Cali comes with turkey breast, avocado, bacon and whatever else you want. I got mine with provolone, lettuce, onions and some Italian dressing. The turkey was fresh, the avocado was creamy, the bacon was crisp and the Italian dressing tied it together. They use kind of what is like a French bread for their sandwiches. Usually I don't like that kind of bread for my sandwiches but this bread was great. Soft, warm and tasty. It worked perfectly for this type of sandwich. Will I be back? Probably....maybe with a coupon though. read more

Why are the meats so slimy? I had the Turkey Club and the ham and Turley had an odd sliminess to them. I literally through the whole sandwich away. Even the bacon tasted old and like it was leftover and reheated. I used to love it here, but this was just awful. The employees are always super nice though. read more

Got the santa fe chicken sandwich was pretty good, price for a large is pretty steep for a sandwich though. Service was good and speedy all three workers were polite. This place has some excellent sandwiches, wraps, subs, salads, and sides. My favorite sub is the Cali-you can't go wrong with turkey, bacon, avocado, and cheese. This place stays busy so it helps to call in your order ahead of time. They also have a stamp card if you visit often. The prices are reasonable and you can order regular, large, and extra large subs. I gave a 4 star only because when I call in there is still a 25 minute wait time during lunch. The restaurant is always clean and well stocked. The bread is always soft and fresh as well as the meats and cheese. I like that they slice the meat and cheeses as you order your sandwich.
