Hot pastrami with melted cheese and potato salad! Delish

In All honesty, I have wanted to try this deli for months and finally had the opportunity. Walking through the door my first impression....CLEAN! Wow, like that is a priority here. Then came my pastrami sandwich best one yet in San Diego. The potato salad was the best as well. Amy, very delightful and very welcoming. I would love to give ten stars but that isn't possible so I give it 5. Here is SUCCESS.

I've grabbed lunch here a few times and always been greeted with a smile. Friendly customer service, large portions, good quality and amount of deli meat used on their sandwiches. Reasonable prices, indoor and outdoor seating, and delicious lunch items. They serve hot and cold sandwiches, wraps, salads, parfaits, chips, drinks, and all kinds of snacks. The sandwiches are made with fresh ingredients and are filling. Everything I've ordered has been good and hit the spot. Worth checking out if you're in the area.

Very friendly staff, great interior, and really outstanding food! My sandwich was packed to the brim! Felt like I got so much food considering I got a sandwich and salad for $15. TWO MEALS IN ONE! One of the better deals I've had for takeout in awhile. Great place and will start coming more often!

This family run business is definitely a hidden gem for your breakfast and lunch needs. Generous portions, delicious sides, and quick service. It's my new go-to spot for breakfast burritos and deli sandwiches. I ordered the Italian sub with Mac salad and was stuffed afterwords. I appreciate the thick cut deli meats, and think you will too. It's mostly an in-and-out spot, but there's always seating available if you need to eat there. And options? This place has it all. Definitely planning on trying their protein smoothies soon, and will update afterwords. If you're in the area for lunch, check it out.

My wife and I visited Hilltop Deli and the experience blew us away. Huge fresh Italian sandwich big enough for two meals and the most delicious potato salad I've honestly ever had. My wife feasted on the huge salad. The new owners Amy and Joe are exceptionally friendly and helpful and the place is super honey and cute. We'll be back frequently.

Decided to stop in and grab some sandwiches. I got The Bomb and boy was it! The bread was fresh and the meats were next level tasty, so much so that I was pulling them out to taste each one! The bacon was well cooked and the avocado was a nice addition! The chipotle ranch on the salad was very good. (And it also tastes good if you get a little on the sandwich)! Been coming here for almost 20 Years and it never fails. Their sandwiches are delicious and so is their pasta salad. It's always reasonably priced too. I spent $14 yesterday on a huge chicken salad sandwich and got 1/2 and 1/2 on the green salad and pasta salad. Was able to make 2 meals out of it. read more

Two words: Pasta Salad. I don't even like pasta salad much of the time. It was recommended so I tried it. Amazing! And no olives, which is probably the main reason I don't like pasta salad. I also really liked my turkey and avocado sandwich and the other side I had was the salad, which was also really good. I can tell Amy has plans for this place and I can't wait to see how things turn out. It's a cute, almost hidden gem in Santee (near the El Cajon border) read more

I asked Amy to make a charcuterie board for my birthday, but it needed to be gluten free. She HANDMADE the bread and chips from scratch to accommodate this request!! It was DELICIOUS. We have had a great experience at this deli. Every time I ask for changes to a sandwich or additions and Amy delivers. The sandwiches are so huge we save half for the next day. In my experience the most important thing the deli works to do is have happy customers. The customers and the staff are friendly and make for a fun experience. read more

Very clean seating area, all the tables had Clorox wipes available which I personally really appreciated. The hilltop breakfast bagel with an everything bagel and sausage was sooo delicious! Hilltop by far is one of my favorite delis I've ever been to, the food is always amazing, great portion sizes and there's is never delay. I came in today with my sister for lunch. She's pregnant and can't have deli meat but the lady at the front that helped us was super helpful and accommodating. She told her she can make her a chicken sandwich and had my sister customize it however she wanted! I've been on a diet and was craving something other than a salad so the lady told me she even has keto bread that she can use! The sandwiches even came with a salad and pasta salad. Being from Ohio, I'd say I have a good grasp on what constitutes a good Roast Beef Sandwich. Vicky had a good idea about it. For me there has to be a good balance between beef and bread. Vicky wasn't far off, she would have to raise her price to meet my expectations, so this didn't affect my review. Another thing every Ohio knows is that tomatoes on Sandwiches must be sliced thickly. I believe this is a fact no So Cal restranteur has an idea about. Again no stars deducted. PLEASE NOTE: This statement was based on personal preference and was by no means meant to be a put down. All ingredients were fresh and delicious. Vicky listened to my stories and was quite pleasant. I'll definably plan future visits to El Cajon Guitars and Music to include a visit to Friendship Deli.
