WOW! Delicious food (High Protein Bowl and Salmon Bowl) and excellent service from Luma! She was so accommodating and friendly! I'm so glad we rediscovered Urbane Cafe as my husband used to go to the one on Moreno Blvd near his office. Now that he's working from home, we kind of forgot about it but he was craving a grain bowl. So, off to my Yelp search and there was Urbane Cafe in El Cajon. We'll definitely be going back again! The bacon in the club sandwich was very dry and chewy. Bahn mi sandwich was good. I liked the pickled carrots. I do NOT recommend the Mediterranean bowl. Does not taste "Mediterranean". They added some kind of weird spice to the hummus so it tasted more like spicy barbecue sauce, and the sweet potato and kale was a bad mixture. The place was clean and the service was fast. I went here after shopping at the mall and wanted something close with vegetarian options. The service was fast and friendly, and the food came out quickly, although it was a little sloppy. I ordered the Bella Portobello sandwich and did not care for it or the bread, which should have been warmed or toasted. The salad was mediocre at best. My husband's soup was not hot, only barely warm, but he did enjoy his sandwich. The soup tasted good, just not at the right temperature. Overall, it was decent but nothing special. We came here for a late lunch, looking for something light. I tried the salmon bowl which I loved! The bowl came with a quinoa mix, sweet potato, and edamame. The salmon was also a generous portion. Quality of the food is extremely low. Wait times have significantly increased. And modifications are being skipped over. It wasn't like this a few years ago. Both the sandwich and salad were fresh and tasty. The beef was a bit bland though but nothing a little salt couldn't fix. The chips were yummy but I was Dissappointed to see how expensive the small bag was at $2.99! The salsa was the perfect size. Not too much, not too little. I was even pleasantly surprised at the amount of ahi included. (I was concerned it wouldn't be enough!) The salad included avacado and a weird amount of it on the side. In all, I enjoyed the salad.
