This is a small business with a BIG impact, and the community clearly supports them because the food quality speaks for itself -- everything is fresh. My go-to order is the Big Chomp on a lettuce wrap when I'm trying to cut carbs but still want to be full. They split open a head of crisp iceberg lettuce and pack it with meats like turkey and beef, plus all the sandwich veggies -- onions, tomatoes, pickles -- and whatever condiments you want. It's crunchy, refreshing, and so satisfying that you honestly don't even miss the bread. Now when I'm extra hungry, their breads are fresh and the sandwiches are top-notch across the board. This was my first time going to cajon pass deli after much pressure from my niece LOL. I don't live in the area but I was nearby and I've literally been craving a chicken Caesar wrap for dayssss... I finally knocked two birds with one stone I got my wrap and I finally tried this place. The deli is small but perfect. It's clean and to the point. The employees were so nice and friendly as well. I took my sandwich and wrap to go and drove about 20 mins back home. As soon as I opened my container, ommmmggg HEAVEN!! The wrap is so huge and beyond flavorful it hit the spot! Like many, I've passed this place a million times! Today, on my way home I decided to stop in and see if I could get a quick breakfast sandwich that sider break the bank. The answer was yes. Love a family owned and operated business story! They have been in the same location for 25 years!! The owner has a long-standing love for what she does. It is a perfect "no frills" location in that it's a true deli style set up - get in, get your food and move on. They provide catering and delivery making them ideally suited for the business warehouse like location they are nestled in. I had a veggie breakfast croissant and was very pleasantly surprised by how well filled it was! Definitely felt I had a good ny of eggs and other ingredients, no skimping. The croissant was toasted with a hint of crispness and slightly burned. I was a bit surprised overall that the sandwich wasn't warm like something freshly cooked might be. But it was good and definitely satsfying. Would like to check out their main menu next. It's also very sweet that I think everyone calls you honey, makes you feel welcomed! Hole in the wall sandwich shop with the beat selection of root beer and other craft sodas you'll see. Older gentleman at the register was friendly Smoked rib eye sandwich was good. The meat was tender and the bread was nice and soft. It did seem to be missing some flavor though. There was a sauce that was pretty delicious you need to use Italian sandwich was pretty tasty too. I usually like thin sliced deli meat but it's thick here yet still good The fox news with volume in the eating area was off putting. This sandwich shop is amazing!! The sandwiches are fresh, juicy, and delicious! The owner is friendly and helpful. I am not a fan of chicken sandwiches but I was convinced to try the Zinger. When I asked if I wanted it hot or cold, he suggested hot on a toasted onion roll. I said, "Do it!" The result was scrumptious! It got a little drippy with the sauce but the bread handled it well. The chicken breast was a cutlet, not sliced lunch meat. It was flavorful and moist! The ingredients were all very fresh, particularly the alfalfa sprouts! I also got a San Diego Native for my sometimes picky teenager. She loves it!! "Amazing quality. The taste and texture are perfect. And it's nice and filling. So good!" That's high praise from the teenager! His drink selection is really nice. He carries Carlsbad water which can be hard to find. He also has a really good Snapple Black Cherry Lemonade that I have never seen before. Delicious! I saw some IBC and other tasty things in the case. The chip selection is eclectic and tasty. The menu is large and creative, but if you don't see what you want or are too tired to read it all, so what my friend did and create your own sandwich. I can't wait to try the Cindy Special which he says has been on the menu for 24 years! The rotating soups also must be investigated next! Inside there are a few tables that seat 3 or 4 and it's a typical deli atmosphere. Outside you can find a few more tables along to storefront. At lunch time you can expect a steady flow of customers picking up to-go orders. I recently wrote a 3-star review about Cajon Pass Deli because I received a sandwich with tomatoes in it. I'm allergic to fruit. All fruit. Including tomatoes. Please allow me to update and explain. I immediately received a response from Danny the manager of Cajon Pass Deli. He apologized profusely and offered a refund or for me to come in and have a tomato-free sandwich on the house. He wanted to, as he said, "make it right". Danny made it right simply by reaching out and offering. That is the kind of 5-star customer service that more establishments need to possess. I did not take Danny up on his offer. Cajon Pass Deli is a small business, they don't need to be giving stuff away. I'll happily return a pay for a delicious tomato-free sandwich.
