I stopped in on the recommendation of Frank Cogliano at El Cajon Guitars and Music a few doors down. When I walked in Vicky greeted me and told me of the Specials I Chose the Roast Beef sandwich which proved to be a good choice. Being from Ohio, I'd say I have a good grasp on what constitutes a good Roast Beef Sandwich. Vicky had a good idea about it. For me there has to be a good balance between beef and bread. Vicky wasn't far off, she would have to raise her price to meet my expectations, so this didn't affect my review. Another thing every Ohio knows is that tomatoes on Sandwiches must be sliced thickly. I believe this is a fact no So Cal restranteur has an idea about. Again no stars deducted. PLEASE NOTE: This statement was based on personal preference and was by no means meant to be a put down. All ingredients were fresh and delicious. Vicky listened to my stories and was quite pleasant. I'll definably plan future visits to El Cajon Guitars and Music to include a visit to Friendship Deli. The cashier is very friendly and the customer service is great! I work in the area and I usually dont want to travel far to grab a bite so this place is ideal if you work in the area. They have delicious tortas and there is usually is a special going on. Try the chocolate chip cookies, she makes them in the morning so theyre always fresh. So, I discovered this place on Yelp. It had good, recent reviews and the food looked yummy and what I was in the mood for. So I decided to give it a try, due to the fact of how close it was to my workplace. I was greeted by Vikki, the owner. She was very pleasant! The food displayed was very promising and there are a lot of options for snacks as well. They offer a variety of sandwhichs, snacks pasta salads and drinks, all at a low price. You can also mix and match half sandwiches, for only 8 bucks! Chips included! I ordered the club sandwich, and it was delicious!! Visited only once for lunch. Since it's within walking distance from my work. Looking over the menu, they had a decent selection of salads, sandwiches and a couple of burrito choices. The cashier was cordial and took my order (Hot & Delicious Sandwich which consisted of turkey, bacon, avocado, lettuce, tomatoes, mayo and mustard. So I work about a block away from this place and have seen 3 ownership changes over the last 3+ years. The first owner and her team was amazing, they had a variety of fresh and delicious foods and I'd crave all the goods on my days off. The second owners were far less successful. The food was often moldy and there was a new person working every time I went in, so there was no consistency. The was an older gentleman that was very sweet, but often asleep at one of the tables. Now, the third person to own it is the sweetest, most delightful lady! Myself and all of my coworkers adore her!! The selection is a bit limited, but everything I've had there is fresh and delicious, every time. My favorites are the tuna fish sandwich, the Greek salad and the Asian salad...sooo good and prices are very reasonable!! So I made a review on this deli almost a year ago when the company I work for moved across the street. I was not impressed what so ever. Well there is a new owner now and i have to say she's changed the place quite a bit! Her sandwiches are really good and fresh with a nice variety and the salads look great! I vowed I wouldn't go back but when my coworker went in to get a drink one day the owner sent her with a sandwich as a sample and I decided I would give her a chance.
