They didn't hornor the deal "Kids eat free Tuesdays and Saturdays from 4-10 pm" even though they're still hanging this giant ad outside. We stopped by around 9pm Tuesday to get some dinner on our way back to LA. I wished I had carried one of my Vons receipts, there are "Buy one entree and 2 drinks to get another entree for 99 cents" coupons printed in the back. But I didn't. Anyway, it's a vacation, so we didn't want to push ourselves on saving nickes and dimes here. Upon arrival, we saw the sign saying "kids eat free..." bla bla like above. No restriction or additional detail printed. We was like: "Oh, that's a good deal, so our kid get his food for free then." When we ordered food, I even double-checked with the waitress if it's "kids eat free" at that time, and she said yes. So we ordered 2 adult entrees and one kid entree. Guess what? When we got the bill, they still charged the kid entree. So I came up to the cash register to ask, but she told me that we need to order a drink, otherwise the computer wouldn't let her do the kid's entree free. I was kind of shocked, thinking "why didn't you tell us when we were asking you about it?" Another customer standing next by me told me to order a drink now in order to have kid's entree free. But I told them that we're already done with our dinner and we're paying to leave now. I heard that at other Denny's, you can get up to two kid's entrees for free per adult entree, without having to order any drink. And I understand that different Denny's locations will honor different promotions. But, hello, I already confirmed with you, didn't I? Again, I'm trying not to be too cheap when spending money during vacation. But the feeling of being cheated like this make me feel so angry. The only good thing was our food (despite of its funny looking, like the chef was too busy to place it nicely in the center of the plate, it was more like kid's cooking with the sauce spilled around the rims and the slice of fish hanging on the edge of the plate). Honetly, I was expecting this Denny's to be pretty bad due to it being in the middle of no where, but right as I walked in, the nice AC was on and it looked nice and smelled clean. The restroom was clean as well. I was greeted immediately with a smile and was shown to my table. We stopped here around 1am coming back from Oakland. Our service was as equally awful as our food. None of the staff that served is had a smile at all. The time it took for our plates to get to us was decent, however we could have done without them. My husband's breakfast plate had burnt hash browns, overcooked eggs, burnt bacon, & the banana pancakes looked like you just throw ingredients together then hope for the best. My gouda chicken sausage pasta literally looked like you throw the spaghetti, barely cut sausage links, spinach, shredded cheese & pop it in the microwave. When I went to go pay Jessica was busy telling Clarissa what happened when she confronted someone & it took them a good while prior to processing my payment. I was actually really pleased with this Denny's. Aside from the fact that it really was our only breakfast choice in the area, I actually kind of like going to Denny's for breakfast, but only sometimes. This one was surprisingly nice. It seemed like they had just been remodeled or something, because the interior was nicely done and everything was spotless. It didn't look like most Denny's look. Anyway, the service here was absolutely fantastic. Our server was quick and responsive and never left our caffeinated drinks more than half empty which was really good considering the long drive we had ahead of us. Our food was good and plentiful. You don't go in to Denny's with high expectations but at the very least hot, servable food should be a priority. We opted to get out of the car and try a sit down because we had been driving & couldn't bear fast food again. I wish we would have just had fast food. Slow, non existent service, cold soup, cold fries, hot salad, etc. We spent $37 before tip & it was a total waste of money. Do yourself a favor & just eat at one of the fast food places- at least the food might be the right temp, you won't have crappy service, & you'll pay 1/3 of the price. read more

Stopped off to grab a bite to eat . The restaurant dining area appeared clean and staff was pleasant. It took 30 minutes to get our food and while I understand this is a diner, it doesn't typically take this long for our food regardless of the location we go to. The 2 star rating is really for the bathrooms. They were dirty and both smelled as if they hadn't been cleaned in awhile. The trash was overflowing in both and in the men's bathroom the soap dispenser was empty. My husband let staff know but when he went back into the bathroom on our way out, all that had been done was the trash pushed down. The bad part was an employee was using the bathroom as well and with the soap dispenser not filled, we wondered how he was going to properly wash his hands? Hope they get a bit better with the housekeeping. read more

Hey what can you say, its Dennys! I stopped in for a quick lunch on my way to LA and I had the bourbon burger. The funny thing is, this was an excellent burger and better then some of the high end so called gourmet burgers that I have had in the past. The young man was that waited on me was very attentive and apologetic when my burger took awhile. Drinks were constantly refilled and the fries were excellent. If making that crazy drive down 5, I will stop here anytime over a fast food joint. read more

It's Denny's. Classic road trip food. The water was a little strange to be honest, but that could also be because me and my travel partner are used to really good Oakland tap water, so that's just us being picky. The food was what you expect, but the service was pretty good, and the location fairly convenient. The next time we head down to LA, we'll probably stop here again. read more

So sad. The place looks great & clean. You notice this as you wait to be seated & get passed up while the host & hostess seat their friends ahead of customers who were here first. You notice this as you sit at your table waiting....waiting....waiting for a server. Then you notice more of the decor as you sit.and.wait.and.sit.and.wait for you drinks, then for your food. When the drinks finally arrive, there's a mixup, but we accept the wrong flavored smoothie (thankfully my little one didn't mind). When the food comes, it's typical Denny's. Our server, Franco, was actually pretty great. Very apologetic & as accommodating as possible. He was polite & entertaining for our kids. He told us the kitchen was backed up. On our way out, there were at least 4 empty tables waiting to be bussed, and a crowd of hungry folks just waiting to be seated. It's sad really... next time we'll save 2 hours and just get drive thru. read more

It's 2:43 am. I'm driving from SF to OC back when I used to see my ex-girl. It's cold and dark outside with nothing nearby to entertain my brain except for my Sirius radio. I get a little thirsty, but I'd rather not stop to waste time I could be using it to drive. Then I pass Gilroy, and the heavy garlic odor makes me crave for some Chinese food, but the only thing Asian in between is that random Hmong guy begging for gas money at every rest stop. Then I smell this rancid cow manure leaking through the vent and hitting my face hard like Snooki's Jersey swamp loins. It was then I knew a Denny's were nearby. The only place where they serve patriotism on a platter or as a beverage. Red, white, and blueberry soda your way to diabetes. read more

Avoid this location if you are on a road trip. My boyfriend and I were returning from Disneyland and we were hungry. Since Harris Ranch had a long wait time for eating dinner, we decided to go here. The person who was at the cashiers post had no interest in seating us. In fact, there were so many tables waiting for us to be seated at but it did not happen. 7 minutes later we got up and left. What is notable is that there was even a party of 9 that wanted to sit down and eat breakfast and they ended up leaving because they did not get seated. What I found rude was that one of the employees were counting their tips in front of us. The only thing the lady said is I apologize for the wait but it did us no good. We will scratch off this place permanently from our consideration list when we go on a long road travel again. read more

This place was the typical Denny's. The only complaints I can make, are not their fault. There was a god awful smell of cows in the air in Coalinga on this day. How bad was it? Worst Denny's ever. Horrible service. Slow and got our order completely wrong. "You don't need to write anything down?" "Oh no, I got it." ...obviously not if I ordered French toast and you brought me eggs. Then when stating the mistake he brought out plain not toasted toast with butter. Is this a new kind of French? Pancakes were horrible and he didn't get any other changes to our orders correct. No refills of our coffee or water. We didn't receive any discount and hardly an apology. 85 cents is a more than reasonable tip. read more

Coming home super late from a long road trip it was nice being able to stop and eat at a restaurant that we are familiar with... BUT their service was lacking! It was like 9pm and there were all of maybe 6 tables of customers..... So.... Explain to me why it took like 30 min to get our food? The food was yummy and exactly what we wanted/needed but they were to slow to have kept us waiting that long. After we finished our dinner we sat there with empty plates and cups, twiddling our thumbs for about 15 min waiting for our check! Solid Denny's here. Clean and nice location, lots of parking especially if you are a Truck driver or someone pulling a trailer. Large lot in the back. Food was quick and tasty. New pancakes are much better in every way, taste, texture and consistency. 11 bucks for a big breakfast and coffee is not cheap but this is worth it. TIP- if you ask for a to go coffee they have a nice cup to send you out with.. this is after you have had a couple of cups with breakfast. read more

This is the worse Denny's I been to. After 15-20 minutes waiting for the waiter to come and greet us, I asked the host how much longer and she said she is not a waitress so she doesnt know how much longer but will ask. We were a group of 8 and it took them 1 hr and 15 minutes to serve us our food and their reason was that they had another large group. To top it off the food was cold. The lady's room had no toilet covers or toilet paper. We had to wait because they did not have change for a $100 bill. I will never stop by this place again!! read more

Driving down to Los Angeles I stopped by Denny's for a quick lunch. I ordered the build your own chicken wrap to go. Service was slow. My order took 20 mins to prepare.. The cashier also had a slight attitude. One could almost sense how miserable she was working here. Anyways, I got my order and opened it. It was 2 chicken wraps, sloppily thrown together.. It came with a generous serving of chips though. I didn't get why it was a wrap, it was more like an " UN - wrap".. The " chicken wraps " were more like soft chicken tacos with lettuce and barbecue sauce.. The portions of ingredients weren't evenly distributed either. Half of one wrap had barbecue sauce while the other half didn't. Overall, the food is eh. But I guess for 4 bucks.. it isn't too shabby. read more

Denny's is a Denny's but on the I-5 you don't have a lot of options. This particular Denny's looks very new. The restaurant is clean and the food is on par with others in the franchise. When they did bring it they forgot one entire plate that had to be left off the final tab. This is a truck-stop area so I would have expected then to cater to fast-in fast-out folks little more.
