Stopped here on the way to LA. It has Tesla charging station at $0.47 kwh. Shell gas station was taped off - not working. Restroom is clean. The line to order BBQ food is long, plus the food takes 39-44 min to get. It was Monday around 12pm, can't imagine the weekend. Expect to spend about 1-2 hours to get your food and eat. Check out my pictures and video. Recommend to order ahead of time and pick up the food at the pick up window. They offer outdoor seating with mist fans. Tri-tips were lean and dry. Briskets were bomb, mashed potato was alright and the salad was fresh. Two meat combo (4oz each) was $18, comes with one side. Each additional side is $4. The food was not bad, better than getting drive through fast food.

Came here expecting more. What a huge letdown. First - its a take put place and the servers looked bored to death. Everything was served lukewarm, ribs were dry to the bone. Sides looked sorry in the cafeteria style serving dishes and didn't taste much better. The saving grace was the brisket - in the sandwich it tasted dry due to the uneven balance of bread to meat - but eaten separately it was okay. We ordered the half rack of ribs as well. Ate 2 ribs and threw away the rest.

A great little pit stop on the drive up to the bay. The atmosphere was welcoming, though we were a bit disappointed that they had run out of horseradish by the time we arrived. Pro tip: order online about an hour in advance or be prepared for a longer line during peak times Highlights: * Brisket (9/10) - Exceptionally tender, juicy, and full of flavor. Easily the standout dish!! * Pork ribs (8/10) - Very well-seasoned with a rich, pork-forward flavor. They didn't even need sauce, though a few bites were slightly dry * Coleslaw (7/10) - Good flavor, but noticeably watery Could be improved: * Tri tip (5/10) - Unfortunately a bit dry and lacking in flavor * Burnt ends (2/10) - Overcooked to the point of being chewy and tough Overall, it's a worthwhile stop especially for the brisket and ribs

The Harris BBQ express is a convenient stop during a road trip. Its across from the restaurant in the gas station but there are tables outside you could eat at. It's nice when ordering you can see the ingredients and add what you want. I got the southwest salad and I first I thought it wasn't a lot, but it was pretty filling with a good amount of chicken. I was able to add beans and I got cilantro lime dressing instead of caesar. My group can be particular but the person taking our order and checking out we're all very polite and accommodating. My only issue was there were flies flying around luckily didn't see any land on the food, but it was too close for comfort

Where I usually turn left at the famed Harris Ranch to head into the County Store, this time I turned right and found myself face to face with Harris BBQ, the Harris Ranch convenience store beside the Shell station. Here, patrons can get drinks, snacks, and sandwiches with Harris Ranch's signature meats to go on their way up to the Bay Area or down to Los Angeles and beyond. I loved the timeless ranch motifs in this convenience store, shelves on shelves of local meats and spices, wood accents everywhere, the air conditioning on full blast to keep the heat out. At the far end, the staff were serving up sandwiches and sides to go, and I went over to see what there was. I got the Santa Maria Classic BBQ Tri-Tip, a Harris Ranch tri-tip slow smoked with almond wood, served with barbecue sauce, all on a French roll. Unlike hickory wood, which imparts a sweet, rich smokiness to the meats, almond wood imparts a mellow, nutty smokiness. It was a solid choice for this tri-tip sandwich I was about to eat and a nod to the almond tree as one of California's staple crops. The first bite was good. The bread was fresh, and the notes of smoked almond wood were very much present. I found the tri-tip meat to be quite dry rather than tender and juicy, and I was glad the sweet, spiced barbecue sauce helped the meat go down better. The meat rub was solid, spicing up the meat with savory notes of salt, rosemary, pepper, and herbs. Bite for bite, this was a decent casual meal at the Harris Ranch. Harris Ranch has a lot to offer for high-end and casual goers alike. The barbecue joint was the perfect place for me to grab something low-key with Harris Ranch's signature meats. I'll be back again to try their other meats.

Stopped in on our road trip from LA to the Bay Area. Never stopped here before, great for a lunch and Pitt stop along I-5. It was busy inside since we were traveling during Memorial Day weekend. Service was pretty quick although they accidentally gave one of our sandwiches to the customer in front of us. They remade it and gave us a free cornbread though. Lots of seating areas outside which is great and they also had misters which was appreciated. Also pretty decent restrooms which are a difficult commodity to find along I-5. BBQ was decent but nothing to rave about. Still beats the fast food options on the road though. As a pescatarian, I enjoyed the black bean chili and the mac and cheese side which was seasoned pretty well. We'll probably stop here again.

My favorite place to stop for lunch when driving home from San Diego - if we leave early enough we can get here around 2pm - after main lunch hours so we only have to wait in line for ...30 minutes? It's hard to wait this long when you are just trying to get home but it's worth it - the brisket is my favorite and my sons and husband like ribs. They always moan about the length of the stop, but honestly half an hour is worth it, even if you've passed 20 cars in the way here lol. Bathrooms are ok as well. I wish they would expand their business to make it faster, and hire more people to work to keep the tables cleaned - some fans above the seating would help keep the flies away, between the wait and the semi messy bathrooms and tables, it's a 4 not 5 no matter how good the food is. Bring your cooler - and get ice and Jarris meat here to take home! Also note: you can order ahead if you have service and pickup at the pickup window, avoiding the long line inside!

It was soooo good! The brisket was incredibly tender and flavorful, and everything we ordered was delicious. Great service, generous portions, and a nice atmosphere. Highly recommend if you're looking for amazing BBQ!

Came here to charge the car on the way to LA. We didn't want to stay long so we went to Harris BBQ instead of the Harris Ranch restaurant. Husband ordered brisket, beef tips, tri-tip, and pulled pork, it came with mac & cheese, house, slaw, cornbread rice pilaf, and mashed potatoes. The food was good however I wish they had indoor seating. Not sure how that would work out though. I'm sure they would get crowded really fast. They had outdoor seating, but there are also a ton of flies that are hovering and flying trying to also land on your food as you're eating. I was thinking they should install one of those little fans in the center of the table that people have at picnics. Hard to eat and enjoy your food when you have flies trying to get it. Food was delicious. Would come back again, but maybe as a grab and go. Inside also has a small market where you can buy drinks, chips, or candy.

We ordered the brisket and tritip. Absolutely delicious soft, tender and flavorful meat. Will definitely come back.

Fast and friendly service. We ordered the brisket meal, kids tri-tip sandwich and bbq tip salad. All were yummy, nice portions and reasonable price. It was so hot but they had misters on full blast in the outdoor eating area, which was nice. We enjoyed our meal. Not a bad place to grab some grub on your way up or down the interstate 5!

Every time we drive to south California. We have to stope to eat here. Best Tri tip salad ever, and best sandwiches. Service is very fast and the employees are very friendly. The ambience is welcoming. The depende on the time of the day sometimes it smells like cow's poop, but food is amazing

I use to work in a small cafe back in the day so working in food service can be trying sometimes. I noticed they have added some menu items and Friday/Saturday dining options as well. Today they had a Monday feature of Tri-Tip Sandwich with either fries or fresh fruit. A free drink was included and I chose lemonade with cucumber and fresh mint. OMG that was delicious. They also had several flavors, strawberry-Hibiscus, strawberry, raspberry, and the cucumber mint lemonade. I chose to dine in and I received my food hot. The fries were perfect. Crispy and not greasy. I chose a hot chipotle ranch & ketchup. Yah, being a vegetarian is hard. I wasn't vegetarian today. I tore up that sandwich and left no crumbs ok maybe the butt end of the roll but that's for Buddha. While waiting I saw the advertisement for Friday night dinners & Saturday Brunch with Mimosas & Micheladas. It's just two staff so go easy on them. They off a 3% discount if you pay in cash. The room was very clean, and solidly appointed for the price (under $200 with AAA discount). In the morning we took a swim in their gorgeous swimming pool. It was an early morning because he had to get back on the road. But, if I were to linger it would be right next to that pool or that awesome horse shoe bar across the lot at the restaurant. Breakfast was awesome. I had the country fried steak and eggs. It was a very tender piece of tenderized steak and the gravy was lights out $29.95. Kids had the "little cowpoke" which was a pancake, bacon slice and an egg for $8.95. The pancake was tasty and the bacon was a large cut (I had to get my Dad tax in). Only downside was the avocado toast (but who would order that at a roadside cow restaurant?) My wife would! HA! It was $18.95 and she felt like she was being punished as it was just a single slice of bread with avocado and two poached eggs. She was really hoping for a larger portion for the price. Overall, it was a really solid 5/5 experience. We left something in the room accidentally and the front desk called us before we even noticed. They said they'd take care of it and we will cruise by on the way home to grab it. Really awesome customer service. For a resort in the middle of nowhere I get no real complaints. I mean it smells like poop outside but there's like a million head of cattle down the road so that makes sense. Also, no foul smells in the hotel or restaurant. They do a good job keeping it out.

The bakery is part of the country store, which sells such random housewares and souvenir-type stuff. They have a chocolate truffle case on one side and the other side, the pastries and desserts. The pastries looked delicious and I got a few to try. They also have bags of day-old cookies for a good price. Eclair 4/5* I'm not a huge fan of eclairs with the soft fudge on top instead of the hardened chocolate. Taste wise though, it was a good eclair. The cream isn't overly sweet and the eclair itself was a light dough. Napoleon 5/5* If there's something Harris bakery does right, it's flaky pastries. Surprisingly, this Napoleon stayed crispy the entire drive home and survive even in the refrigerator the next day. Many others I've had usually get soggy, but these layers of puff pastry stayed crisp to the end of every last bite. The cream was fluffy and not too sweet, and paired perfectly with the ripe strawberries. Banana Cream Pie 3/5* I love anything banana and just had to get it when my eyes landed on the perfect swirl of whip cream covered in chunks of buttery crumbles, atop a neat little mini pie. However, the pie itself was too mushy. The crust was soggy, with the smoothness of the banana cream, soft banana slices, and rich whip cream, everything combined was too much mush. It was also too sweet. I did enjoy the crumble on top though. That was the only saving texture. Strawberry Cream Horn 5/5* Wow these were so unexpectedly delicious! The horn is super flaky and delicate, filled from end to end with a light strawberry cream. On top, bits of dehydrated strawberries were not only beautiful but added a nice tartness and texture, contrasting with the silky cream. This was a great upgrade on your classic cream horn. Chocolate Chip Cookies with Walnuts 3/5* Nothing special. They tasted better the longer they sat out because they were crisper. I prefer my cookies to have sea salt for that good balance of salty and sweet, but these cookies were just one noted. Next time, I have my eyes set on this towering cake they had on the counter and of course, take home some of those yummy cream horns.

I thought Id be getting thin sliced NY steak.....wasn't expecting a whole 10oz grilled steak. So essentially this is like the upgraded version of Jimmy John's Roast Beef Sandwich and for 40.00 / sandwich, you're getting your dollars worth in protein. I also did their steak fingers appetizer, drenched in some kind of red wine reduced, caramelized garlic herbs gravy with hints of Worcestershire sauce. Sauce was a little acidic, sour, and I would much prefer if it was like a Lee Kum Kee Branded Black Pepper sauce with oyster sauce base.
