Harris ranch steakhouse had same entrance as Harris ranch restaurant. So even though the steakhouse was "adults only" we were moved into the steakhouse area from a different entrance. Other our waiter was a little bit, lacking in emotional intelligence, the food was generous and good tasting. We ordered the kids tri-tip, which was only $16 and it came with a generous amount of vegetables and then we substituted the cookie for a full plate of fruit due to allergy. 5/5 The steak sandwich was basically a full 10 ounce steak on top of a slice of bread and some shredded iceberg lettuce and some slices of tomato. No wonder it was $40. I was very happy with it. The Derby burger was good, nice half pound burger, patty with melted cheese and the normal burger sauce. $20 The kids soup was also five dollars. My mother enjoyed the clam chowder which had a lot of clam and was very milky. 4.5/5 As expected, smelled like cow manure at dinner time. Outside But that's Kettleman city/Hanford/Central Valley. You wouldn't expect anything less, especially directly at a ranch. Overall, had a good time. Very pleased with our trip, although we may not be back for a while due to the prices
It's been a few years since we were last here for a meal. Of course going heading north or south on the 5, it's kind of a stop for everyone. One of those places that's its a must to try out and if you're craving a steak. They have both the hotel area as well as the restaurant. Plus most people would see this place if there's charging their car as the charging station is literally right in-front of the entrance. We stopped off hoping to grab a meal and to watch the Mexico and England game that was going on. Well that was a dud as the bar dining area with televisions that had the game on was 21 and older. We had some minors with us and our pup so that didn't work. I did speak to the hostess that was at the counter and asked if they had a television in the main dining area. They said there's a room that they could turn the tv on but once we got to that hostess table and asked them about it, they mentioned that there was no television. The whole reason was to have a meal and watch the game. We ended up not staying as it wasn't worth it. The last time we did enjoy our meal in the bar area. This time we were hoping to have another meal but it just wasn't available with our situation. The place does have a nice country store with amazing fun and nice stuffs as well as a nice butcher. You don't get those at places much these days. This visit wasn't what we were hoping for but I guess it wasn't meant to be. It is off the freeway a little ways but most people will see it when they stop for gas or charging station. Theres plenty of parking along the front. Also hotel/resort is right next door. It's a cool place that's kind of in the middle of nowhere. There is a small town but beside that, there's not much there.
On our way up to SF, we wanted to make sure we hit by Harris ranch for a solid steak. We got the beef filet tails as an appetizer, the meat itself was really good however it was OVERPOWERED with lime... every bite was so sour As for the streak- I personally thought it was okay but my partner thought though cooked well it was smothered in butter We sat at the adults only section so that was a nice touch, service was okay nothing special.
I used to live nearby, back in the early 80's. Not sure I ever dined here though. I learned the resort is a more casual version of the higher end restaurant. I was seated in the bar area (no choice offered), which was odd as this was mid-week and the place was far from crowded. I was attended quickly and placed an order for a Tanqueray martini. It arrived well mixed. I decided on a porterhouse after confirming with my waiter that the filet would not resemble a t-bone, but be a full filet as a porterhouse should. The steak was cooked properly, salad and sides fresh and delicious. I took off a star because my waiter gave up on me. He had checked in several times (I eat really slow these days and it was a lot of food) and the last time offered to bring me a box. I was ready to order dessert, but after a full ten minutes of an invisible waiter, I went to the hostess and offered to pay. She said she would send my waiter to my table. So, back to my table I went and waited some more. By the time he arrived, I was very unhappy. I had planned on coffee and dessert. But ended up going to the gas station next door and picking up some canned espresso and cream. Walking to my car, was an olfactory assault. If you've ever driven past Harris Ranch and the miles of cows standing under the shade structures in their own feces, you have a mild sense of what I experienced. But this was so much worse. My eyes began to water as I imagined I was walking through the feed lots. The stench of urine and cow crap was obnoxious. Some way to end an otherwise good meal. Between the service and the outdoor aroma, I doubt I'll return.
*This is a review for the resort itself, not the restaurant, as we did not eat there but opted for the Harris Rabch BBQ House instead (delicious). My husband and I were roadtripping from San Diego to camp outside of Sacramento and got a flat tire near the resort. It was 110 degrees out but somehow I was so charmed by this place, I was able to convince him to get us a room for the night. Our room was so quiet, large, clean, and cute. The best was so comfortable, but they could add a pillow for soft pillow sleepers, as both were so overstuffed and big that I gave up and slept on a sweatshirt The property has three hot tubs, a lap pool, three restaurants, multiple gift stores- I mean, all things considered, it was adorable. If I ever find myself trapped in the armpit of California mid July again, I would come back for sure!
Food was delicious. Very fresh, great ambiance and the staff were friendly. Family friendly and they have a section for adults only.

I ordered the 14 oz ribeye with a loaded baked potato and a Cesar salad to start. The steak was cooked perfectly however the baked potato was a little cold as if it was made before the steak was ready, but this was a first and I came for the steak anyways! The place was pretty quiet and I sat in the bar area, so that was interesting. Overall this place is always a must stop for me and tastes so good! I did not get to enjoy any alcohol options as I was only half way home and still had to drive! Highly recommend this place.
The food was a mixed bag. The Caesar salad was just okay -- the chilled plate made it feel like the salad may have been pre-made. The house bread, though, was warm, soft, and delicious. The burger was pretty good overall: the patty came medium rare, leaning toward rare, with a nice char on it. The top bun was solid, but the bottom bun got soggy and wasn't worth the calories, so I left it behind. Service was okay. The ambience was very nice, makes a fun stop for charging on during road trip.
Nothing exactly wrong or to write home about. Service came by often to check on us which was nice but a bit *too* often. The place is very decorated. If you have an aversion to hide or taxidermy, this is your warning. We sat at the bar while waiting for the Tesla to charge and the drinks were good. Food was decent as well!
Finally got to see what all the hype was about. Our car group met some members of a car group from SLO there for lunch on a Saturday. Our tables were ready when we arrived and we were all seated pretty quickly. There were a lot of us, we filled a couple of back rooms. I had the oriental chicken salad, but wish I would have splurged on a steak. I was at Harris Ranch, after all. The food was good. Service was good. Due to it being a Saturday and us having a large group, some tables were done eating before other tables even had their orders taken. There were little shops there to browse through and the hubby loved the fresh baked cookies he purchased at one of them.

Since it's right next to Interstate 5, it is very convenient for t9ad trips doen California. To the right is the Horseshoe Lounge, the Prime Steakhouse in the middle, and Ranch Kitchen is towards the end. I think they also have a barbecue restaurant, but in a separate building. This place is massive. We decided to dine at Ranch Kitchen, where there was a huge group of people sitting right outside. I originally thought they were waiting for a table, but they were all just there for the restroom since this seems to be the place to be for pit stops down I-5. It was around 6 PM on Monday, and we got seated pretty quickly. We ordered the 14 oz. Choice Ribeye (medium rare) and the Country Fried Steak. Both included either baked potatoes or mashed potatoes (we opted for baked) and broccoli and carrots. The ribeye also included either a soup or salad, but given the current scare with the lettuce parasite, I opted for the clam chowder. They start you out with hot bread rolls and some salted whipped butter. The ribeye was very tender and delicious. It was well-seasoned and does not need steak sauce or anything. The country fried steak was quite tasty and comes with a massive amount of gravy, the way I like it. Overall, this was a great stop with great food. The service was amazing and the waiter was very attentive. This will definitely be a regular pit stop of ours.
Cool place to grub. Me and my party enjoyed the food very much. Good service and nice layout. Had this classic yet somewhat modern touch.
Stayed at the hotel again. What a beautiful and well maintained place. Had dinner in the Horseshoe lounge and breakfast in the restaurant. The food is Stupendous. I would Highly recommend this place
Amidst a sea of rows and rows of pistachio & almond trees and acres and acres of farmland and cattle, a reprieve from a view of dry empty lands and a break from highway 5's endless hypnotic monotonous paved black roads with white dashed lines. Literally an oasis! It even has a Tesla charging and gas station. Finally, something to see, a small store with a Harris Ranch meat counter and baked goods, treats for the kids and a chance to stretch your legs!! Clean restrooms in a traditional tiled ceramic floors decor to pictures of one of my favorite animals, horses! Looked forward to breakfast and was pleasantly surprised a a very comprehensive menu, I'm glad we made it in time for breakfast because I really enjoyed the corned beef hash and eggs with Pico De Gallo the only way to eat it, even had more meat than potatoes, nicely seasoned. Becca over the top great service! That's everything isn't it, especially these days with higher prices, if I'm going to pay, I hope the service meets the prices. In this case very good overall service. In store and restaurant. I included both menus since they only serve breakfast until a certain time. Picked up some Harris Ranch beef jerky, BBQ sauce and hard candies imported from Germany I(I think) Next, back on 5 next stop Gilroy from what I understand the Garlic growing capital. We pass through Coalinga about 4 times per year and never pass Harris Ranch by. While we have stayed at the resort and eaten in the restaurant, we mostly stop by on our way through. We love the country store for there curios and munchies. I also usually buy some of that great Harris Ranch beef. They pack it is ice so it easily makes the 10 hour trip home from there, Whether stopping for a quick shopping trip in their country store, some great food in the A+ restaurant, or grabbing a brisket sandwich at the general store next door. Harris Ranch has it all! They also have clean restrooms an charging stations. Break the monotony, Harris Ranch is a must stop on your long road trip down I-5! read more
We have been to HR RV Park twice now. Once for an overnight and once for a weekend stay. Both visits were great! The cookies at check-in are awesome. The bathrooms are some of the best and cleanest you'll ever see in an RV park and the FHU, level, pull through spaces are wide and long. The WiFi is good enough for streaming. There are 2 dog parks and a set of pickleball courts. Access to the gym is included with your stay. We enjoyed the huge heated pool, the pool bar and two of the restaurants. There is free coffee in the hotel lobby offered to all RV guests every morning and it is very good. They also have tea for the non-coffee drinkers. I would recommend Harris Ranch Resort RV Park to others and we will be coming back, since the entire family loves the pool and the food. read more

Review for the resort and the restaurant incoming! Stayed with the family for a night on our way to Southern California as we were in need of respite after crushing Bay Area traffic. The room was very clean, and solidly appointed for the price (under $200 with AAA discount). In the morning we took a swim in their gorgeous swimming pool. It was an early morning because he had to get back on the road. But, if I were to linger it would be right next to that pool or that awesome horse shoe bar across the lot at the restaurant. Breakfast was awesome. I had the country fried steak and eggs. It was a very tender piece of tenderized steak and the gravy was lights out $29.95. Kids had the "little cowpoke" which was a pancake, bacon slice and an egg for $8.95. The pancake was tasty and the bacon was a large cut (I had to get my Dad tax in). Only downside was the avocado toast (but who would order that at a roadside cow restaurant?) My wife would! HA! It was $18.95 and she felt like she was being punished as it was just a single slice of bread with avocado and two poached eggs. She was really hoping for a larger portion for the price. Overall, it was a really solid 5/5 experience. We left something in the room accidentally and the front desk called us before we even noticed. They said they'd take care of it and we will cruise by on the way home to grab it. Really awesome customer service. For a resort in the middle of nowhere I get no real complaints. I mean it smells like poop outside but there's like a million head of cattle down the road so that makes sense. Also, no foul smells in the hotel or restaurant. They do a good job keeping it out. read more

This is always our pit stop whenever we go to the Central Valley or Southern CA. The steak is always served with the right cut and can be split plate charge. It comes with fresh vegetables, salad, and soup on the side. You may change your options accordingly to your liking. The vibe has a countryside feel and the atmosphere is great for making a great getaway from home. It's also a great place to visit after hiking Sequoia National Park after a long hike since it's just less than one hour away from Visalia. The place is clean and the staff is friendly and welcoming. read more
Beautiful holiday decor made for a festive rest stop during our road trip. Shared the Ribeye Dip and Reuben Sandwiches. The ribeye was tender and tasted great with the horseradish sauce. Reuben was drier than expected, but I enjoyed the extra sauerkraut I asked for. Very accommodating with children. I would definitely make a stop here again. read more

If you're ever traveling on I-5 South toward LA (or coming from LA), Harris Ranch is a must-stop. Their steak is incredibly juicy, tender, and cooked to perfection. The bakery on-site is amazing as well--they have delicious cookies and an incredible cake that's not to be missed. The staff is extremely friendly, and the ambience is subtle, clean, and relaxing. It's a great place to rest, grab a meal, and recharge while on the road. Highly recommended for anyone passing through! read more

Yesterday the four of us were returning from Palm Springs on a week long golf getaway. We stopped here for a late lunch. Ordered- * hubby had a Reuben sandwich with regular fries * I had the derby cheeseburger with sweet potato fries * sis & BIL shared a derby cheeseburger with sweet potato fries and a bowl of cream of mushroom soup Pros: * burgers cooked to order. We both ordered medium well burgers. Grilled onions * hubby said plenty of corned beef in his sandwich * sis & BIL cheeseburger split by the kitchen and had equal amounts of fries Cons: * $0.50 for grilled onions. Bermuda onions were barely grilled * $5.00 split order charge * my Arnold Palmer was very weak. Hardly tasted any lemonade or iced tea. * switched to a Pepsi. Too much carbonation since fountain drink. * food was lukewarm as it was a very chilly day out and drafty in the restaurant. From the kitchen to our table affected the food temperature. * service was spotty. Hubby had to request coffee refill. This was an average experience compared to previous dining experiences here. read more

Getting more pricy yet the steak still on the salty end. Service wise: pretty quick, waiter came around to ask how was food while they attended to several tables Ambiance: the wooden sitting chair way too small and easy to hurt the shoulder of the knee caps!!! Needs to be wider for easier movement, especially during the winter with heavier coats on. Very uncomfortable sitting area unless you are seated at the open round tables. read more

The hostess greeted us warmly. We enjoyed the clean Ranch style decor, fascinating Ranch Antiquities, confortable seating, great menu and fantastic service! We were convinced that our server loved his job, took our orders for four including the kids meal and remembered every detail requested. Hubby and i split a burger meal and they were so accommodating. Gave us everything we wanted and more. The burgers were top grade beef, on fresh hot buns with all the accouterments. And those HorseShoe fries were as good as we've ever had, crispy outside and soft inside, served aplenty in individual baskets. The kids meal was a winner for our particular 12 year old "Really Good TriTip" loaded with fresh vegetables, that we helped to polish off. Portions were overall generous and a great price. We look forward to our next time passing through for another fantastic dinner! read more
I only came to Harris Ranch Resort to visit its meat counter which has a great selection of beef. Prices were not too bad, service is great and friendly at their meat/bakery market. Specialty coffee is available there too! From what I can see, they have three places offering hot food, a cafe, a BBQ near their gas station, and a fine dining area. There are motel like rooms if you need a place to stay, but we were only passing through. read more

This place is awesome! Had dinner here a week ago with my son and buddy in our way to New Mexico. We all ordered the chicken fried steak dinner. It was so delicious and very filling! The portion was huge! The service is always top notch too! The ambiance is very comfortable and very pleasing to the eye! How anyone can rate this place less than 5 stars is beyond me! First time staying at the rv park very clean big spaces, the hotel staff very accommodating they did provide shuttle service to the restaurant which I gave thumbs up also automatic WiFi no codes needed the restaurant was still very good the meals were delish service the best, read more

Breakfast hours at Harris Ranch?
Breakfast is 7 am to 11 am in the Ranch Kitchen Restaurant.
Are there microwaves in the rooms?
Yes. They do have them. If you look at my video that I uploaded, you can see the microwave in a little convenience area with a small fridge.
Do they allow splitting plates? Our party will have a couple of seniors with small appetites.
My last visit they allowed us to split an entrée. Should be ok. Enjoy!
Is this a good place for single diners? I'm traveling alone back from Bay Area .?
Yes, it would be fine for a single diner. Though, depending on the crowds, you might have to wait a bit for one of the smaller tables.
Is there a strong "nature" smell when staying at the inn?
None whatsoever. We both eat dinner and spent the night in the parking lot. Very accommodating Resort.
Will there be a Mother's day buffet this year 2022?? It's been a while due to COVID.

I can't find a holiday operating schedule posted on their website, but their hotel does have rooms bookable on Christmas Eve and Christmas, so the shops are probably open those days as well.

None. Besides mask at entry. You can take off while dining
Is there outdoor seating for the restaurants?
Only indoor. During the summer it is to hot and when the wind shifts you smell the cow patties.
Did they have any pandemic protocol now?
The staffs were wearing masks, and couple of the tables were taped off but when I went there for dinner a month ago, it was pretty crowded.
What tasty here?
Prime rib was the best we had. We had ordered the filet, prime rib, New York and ribeye.
What are the hours of the restaurant? EDIT: @Vonny J.: The restaurant is not 24/7, only the hotel is 24/7.
