Arrived off highway at 1 pm. Restaurant was packed. Obvious that they were understaffed. Had to tell the hostess twice that we wanted table not a booth. Service was slow. Food was okay. We were at a highway rest stop. Not much choice. Either MacDonalds or Dennys, They didn't offer refill on our iced tea. Food was okay. Waitress was obviously over worked. I gave her a 15% tip instead of my normal 20%. Not her fault. It's a pity that management doesn't rely on tips to survive. Food was okay. Nothing special. Terrible food. No flavor. My daughter ordered a hamburger and no flavor, tasteless. I ordered the Atlantic wild caught salmon. The meat was almost white and it was very fishy. This is not wild caught. Wild caught would be a redish pink color or even a dark pink. This is farm raised and no flavor other than fishy. I couldn't eat it. This is one of the better Denny's that we have been to. Our waiter was awesome, truly interested, attentive and extremely polite. The food was very good and reminded us of a home cooked meal. At first they brought me the order with ham which I have asked to exclude. The waiter apologized and the correct meal arrived within the next couple of minutes. If only I could give no stars. Sitting took 5-10 minutes and there's was only 3 tables taken. Don't know why. Our service was terrible, including the manager. The server took our order and the drinks took about 10 minutes, all were water except one, coffee. The coffee was filled to the rim and then the server asked if I would like some cream. I would love some cream if I had the space for it. We got all our plates about 25 minutes later not too bad, except the fact that one plate was missing. When we had asked about the plate, he had not put an order in for it. The plate had to be ordered and was not going to be done until we were all done eating. Very rude, to make someone wait for their food of plate and everyone have theirs. The WORST: When I bit into my own food, my sausage was not cooked. I told the server and he brought the manager right away. Instead of a sincere apology, the manager tried to give me a smart a** lecture on how the sausage was pre cooked and I wasn't in any danger. And I quote him "I believe salmonella is in chicken not sausage". As we were leaving to pay we ended up canceling the last plate that arrived as we were about to walk to the register. At the register he decided to cancel my uncooked plate so I wouldn't pay for it. The reason for this was because he heard me say I would complain. At the end of the day, customers that are driving on the 5 are already having a long day, don't make it worse. Eating should always be a pleasant experience. So normally I wouldn't do this. However this Denny's is always out of something last time it was out of hoagie rolls, now it's out of pumpkin pancakes, chocolate lava filling. I swear the fries are always burnt or they never change the oil. The waiters are useless or running around with their heads cut off. We got here around "dinner rush" as a former buss girl I could handle 20 people with my eyes closed with more attentiveness than our "waiter". On top of that a good waiter or waitress knows the menu. Also when you tell the waiter/was the condiments ahead of time it should all be ready to go when the meal comes take an extra 5 seconds to get it all together. Being seated took longer than it should, considering there were open tables everywhere. Our waiter, Jessica, seemed uninterested in serving us. She was completely non welcoming, gave us an attitude when we made requests and the worst, she threw our utensils across the table. We have currently been sitting here for over 20 min. after we have finished our meal and our check has yet to arrive.. because we have yet to see her again. This Denny's is not your average Denny's. You're seated rather quickly which is nice, but after placing our order, it took 50 whole minutes for it to arrive. All we ordered was a veggie omelet, a grilled cheese, and toast. And it took 50 minutes for it. The food was average and not really surprising. But the wait was horrendous. Oh and when we first arrived, the men's toilet was clogged. By the end of the hour, still clogged. We told our host, the greeter, AND the manager and nothing within that hour was dedicated to basic sanitation of the restroom. Stopped by for dinner in this Denny's restaurant over the memorial day weekend. We have eaten at this Denny's in the past and this place deteriorated into a pretty bad shape. It took us about 1.5 hours to eat there. It is amazing but even after crowds thinned out, they were still extremely slow. Food was terrible and I mean terrible even by Denny's standards. We got overcharged on top of it all. I really did not want to spend the time arguing with them over money because everything was taking such a huge amount of time. Over compensating with 5 stars, it is a Denny's after all and in the middle of nowhere. Visit: 9-28-14 around 6pm Pros: quick service, consistent with other Denny's. Manager made a point of going to each table, thanking them for coming in and to drive safe. After four tries, we finally found something on the menu that they really have (in other words, something that the kitchen can serve). We waited for more than 30 mins to be served (apparently there was a party of 15 people taking up all their time. The rest of the restaurant was completely empty). The food was stale at best. The Santa Fe skillet I ordered was pretty much burnt by the time it hit our table. Poorly maintained with dirty floors and terrible staff. The question is, why keep such an establishment open? Is it even making money? Several fast food joints around this area serve far better food. Take my advice - try one of those fast food places across the street. You will thank me later. read more

We were promptly seated and our orders taken, but soon after noticed that seven out of ten tables in our section were filthy. Our desert menu was sticky, and there was something sticky on the booth wall. We thought about sticking around, but could hear our waiter and other staff laughing and carrying on in the kitchen. After taking a good look at the dining room we started to wonder what the kitchen looked like and decided to run away. I walked into the kitchen to let our waiter know because there was no one else around. He didn't seem at all surprised and didn't ask why. This was at 6pm on July 5th, and there were only two other parties in the entire place. Also, the garbage can just outside the entrance was overflowing all over the ground. That should have been a tipoff. This place should have their Denny's credentials revoked. I know it's not fine dining, but at a chain like Denny's you at least expect a certain standard of cleanliness. Coincidentally or not we had a similar experience at the Carl's Jr. across the street. The place was relatively empty when I was seated but once I was seated a slew of people came. Our waiter was Rigo, he was super sweet and a great waiter. He was able to seat all of the people down in his section and tend to all of our needs. There was a problem with our check, we were charged for substitutions, I had confronted him about it when paying the bill, he went to ask the manager and the manager helped us. Uh so this is the worst dining experience I've ever had. Ordered a slam burger with a veggie patty and no bacon. Halfway through my burger I find a big chunk of beef patty in it. When I told the waitress (Lisa) she agreed it was not okay. What a joke of a restaurant!! Please read through as I have never felt so strongly about boycotting a business than I do about this one!! I don't mind Denny's, sometimes they are quick and hit the spot... This was not the case here but food and service were not the reason for my strong stance.... We had to eat here because we stayed next door at the hotel and it was 9pm. It took us an hour to get our food and my daughters food was cold and we got all our food in bits and peices! My husband was completely done and went out to the car to check on our dog when I got my breakfast meal (for dinner)... I would have walked out and probably not even written a review at all however.... I was at the counter to check out and this sweet young guy from Norway and his 2 children just came back in (in front of me) and said very calmly, "what should I do, can you call the police, someone just broke into my rental car" After a bit of prodding and conversation back and forth, the girl at the friend agreed to call the police. (she was taller, slender and longer dark hair, I think her name was Sara but I may be mistaken) The gentlemen walked out to check on his wife and the car. She took care of another person in front of me and it was my turn. I said " I can wait for you to call the police so this poor guy is not waiting all night, we are in no hurry and staying next door so go ahead and do that first". She said " Oh, my manager said I can not call the police" so I said What, why not? Were you going to tell him or just let him sit out there freezing with his small children?? Why did you tell him you would? Why can you not call? I was so angry...... wait for it....she says, because I have to do my job instead. I said may I speak with the manager please? She said no, they are short handed and she is helping the cook line. (That would explain the hour wait, terrible and cold food I guess. The girl at the front said that you told her not to call the police for the family that just ate at your restaurant and is stranded in your parking lot with 34 degree temperature, broken glass all inside their car and 3 more hours to drive. " She said " I told her to look up the sheriffs office number, I didn't tell her not to call the police". mmmm ok, thank you. I proceeded back to the front desk and confront the lying individual. She said, oh, well I can't look it up as my phone is dead... I confronted her lying to my face and she said my manager requires me to work not look up numbers. OMG, your manager to TOLD you to look up the number and call WTH.... what a horrible inconsiderate person...no one else was really helping either by the way (our server tried but got no where) In the mean time, my daughter jumps on the phone and calls for this sweet family. We outside and also helped called Budget and sat on hold for a long time while they tried to help . We spent about hour and half with them and got them hooked up and taken care before we headed back to our hotel. He emailed me the next day to say thank you and that Budget finally showed up at 1:30 am and they were on their way. So terribly said they had such a bad experience. BTW, 2 guys with what looked to be black shirts and Dennys name tags were out checking car doors another witness said.... guessing thats possibly why no one was helpful in there. I got a take-away breakfast because I needed to get back to SF in a hurry. The breakfast was good. They had substitutions that were great for my restricted diet . (Or else I would have given it 1 star.) HOWEVER I ordered on the phone, came 15 minutes later, and WAITED 20 more minutes with my food just sitting in its bag I'm assuming most of that time. Yesterday my husband ,daughter and I had gotten into an accident on highway 5 coming home from our short weekend vacation. Our truck was totalled but we walked away ok. Being 3 hours from home we needed a place to stay while we waited for our ride. We spoke with manager on duty Eva and she greeted us with open arms no hesitation. She made sure we had a quiet spot to collect our thoughts and enough room to put our belonging. Although they were busy she came out of her way to make sure we ate and we comfortable. They didn't hornor the deal "Kids eat free Tuesdays and Saturdays from 4-10 pm" even though they're still hanging this giant ad outside. We stopped by around 9pm Tuesday to get some dinner on our way back to LA. I wished I had carried one of my Vons receipts, there are "Buy one entree and 2 drinks to get another entree for 99 cents" coupons printed in the back. But I didn't. Anyway, it's a vacation, so we didn't want to push ourselves on saving nickes and dimes here. Upon arrival, we saw the sign saying "kids eat free..." bla bla like above. No restriction or additional detail printed. We was like: "Oh, that's a good deal, so our kid get his food for free then." When we ordered food, I even double-checked with the waitress if it's "kids eat free" at that time, and she said yes. So we ordered 2 adult entrees and one kid entree. Guess what? When we got the bill, they still charged the kid entree. So I came up to the cash register to ask, but she told me that we need to order a drink, otherwise the computer wouldn't let her do the kid's entree free. I was kind of shocked, thinking "why didn't you tell us when we were asking you about it?" Another customer standing next by me told me to order a drink now in order to have kid's entree free. But I told them that we're already done with our dinner and we're paying to leave now. I heard that at other Denny's, you can get up to two kid's entrees for free per adult entree, without having to order any drink. And I understand that different Denny's locations will honor different promotions. But, hello, I already confirmed with you, didn't I? Again, I'm trying not to be too cheap when spending money during vacation. But the feeling of being cheated like this make me feel so angry. The only good thing was our food (despite of its funny looking, like the chef was too busy to place it nicely in the center of the plate, it was more like kid's cooking with the sauce spilled around the rims and the slice of fish hanging on the edge of the plate).
