A surprisingly "home-style" turkey dinner from a place that isn't trying to be fancy Most Thanksgiving turkey plates at big chains taste like they came straight out of a banquet steam pan: dry edges, tired fibers, more volume than soul. This $16 turkey plate at Denny's wasn't that. When we ordered, the server casually mentioned: "If you're debating between the $15 and $16 options, most guests prefer the $16 one." On the menu photo, the $15 version does look noticeably paler, but we didn't order it, so I won't speculate. What I can say is that the $16 turkey we got was legitimately juicy, tender, and closer to a homemade roast than to processed "holiday tray" meat. The real test? My friend - someone who usually does not like Thanksgiving turkey - cut off a piece, chewed for a second, and said: "This is actually good." That one sentence says more than most reviews. * Turkey - moist, warm, and properly seasoned. * Stuffing - tasted like it actually saw some turkey drippings, not just dry boxed mix. * Mashed potatoes - creamy, with real bacon bits mixed in, which is well above typical diner expectations. * Gravy - classic, smooth, and does its job. The only clear weak point: cranberry sauce. It's obviously the canned style - shape and texture give it away. At this price point it's not shocking, but if they ever upgraded this one component to a simple house cranberry sauce, the whole plate would jump a tier. That said, to be fair: On the days before Thanksgiving, at a 24/7 national diner chain, for $16 total, getting a turkey dinner that tastes this decent and this comforting is already outperforming quite a few places charging a lot more for their "holiday special." This isn't a plate trying to pretend it's fine dining. It's an honest, warm, and surprisingly satisfying turkey dinner. - Dr. C Only writing for what truly earns the stars.

Half of a Cali Club Sandwich with fries
    Stacy C.

DoorDashed the Cali Club Sandwich a couple times this week for lunch. It is such a scrumptious sandwich with turkey, ham, bacon, Swiss cheese, avocado, lettuce, and tomato. The avocado is the best part; it's fresh and they give you lots of it. The fries are good, too, but if you want to make it a bit healthier you can order fruit instead. I've never been much of a Denny's fan, but ever since I tried the Cali Club Sandwich about a year ago I've been going back for it again and again. Removed one star because they forgot to include ketchup with my last order.

Their evening server Guadalupe is fantastic. They are so lucky to have her. She keeps everything running smoothly and everything so clean and organized. I'd snatch her away if I could hire her... but, alas, I'll have to settle for sitting in her section. Btw, it's all her section at night! Thank you, Guadalupe A !!

Fast, good menu, and the server was super nice even though she was slammed everyone was being so mean to her. I felt so bad. She was working so hard and the only person working. I'm definitely gonna go back just for her because she not only gave us good service but she did it with a smile on her face even though the place is super busy and it was New Year's Eve. Dennys had someone else working other than her that night. She deserves a raise.

    Burnt nacho

First time being at this location. We waited for 30 minutes for our nacho and it was not even busy. So disappointed. Burnt nacho that cost almost $18. It was the worst nacho that I ever eaten. Not enough meat and the worst part was burnt chips that tasted so bitter.

This Denny's has been a welcome addition to the area ever since the one across the street closed and this one opened. I e eaten here several times. This time I got the sirloin steak and eggs with a fruit bowl and it was prepared extremely well. They forgot my fruit but when it finally made its appearance it surpassed expectations. Birthday Breakfast Slam

I tried the Birthday Slam, which is offered for free on your birthday (with ID), but FYI it was pretty basic--no toppings/anything extra to make it special. The staff was okay, a bit impatient, but the person at the register was helpful. Service overall was just alright. It was kind of empty when I went.

Usually go when I'm faded asf like after 12. Food be smacking cuz my compás in the back be whipping it up like a 5 star meal or it's maybe just the tequila that makes it good. Service is great and for some reason it's 2016

Very nice, cute little mini Denny's. We got seated right away even though it was Saturday morning, and our Waiter was very nice. Food came out quick and was exactly as we ordered, plus they put my savory stuff on one plate and my sweet stuff on another without me asking, which made me very happy! They were also very nice to my service dog, and no one tried to distract her, which I really appreciated. Plenty of parking, but the accessible spaces are not super close to the door, your best spot if you are going to have mobility issue is to park in back as close to the Apricot Ave as you can and come around the building on that side, this will set you up with their ramp, which is a pretty good low slope, to the front door. I had the new brioche french toast, and it was really good. Partner had the chicken fried steak, he said the gravy needed more pepper, but he's not a great judge of that, so it was probably perfect for normal humans who do not come from a pepper-based atmosphere.

TERRIBLE SERVICE! I walked in on Halloween! They told me they wouldn't seat me due to there dirty dishes? I have no clue as to why it is so hard to wash some for the guests? They then forced me to order out while I'm in town visiting so that's kinda hard for me to eat out of my car. I think went and used the first bathroom I saw NO TOILET PAPER so I went to the next one again NO TOILET PAPER or even paper towels. It's Halloween not only that but a Saturday and this is absolutely the most unprofessional dennys let alone restaurant I have ever been to. Not to mention there extras rudeness and disrespect while all we did was simply ask for a table for 2. Whoever manages this place should really think about getting a new job.

It's nice in here. Small, cozy great idea after closing g the bigger one a block away. Double Burger was good.... Service man and his wife are customer service oriented. I was shocked at how nice and clean it is in here. Neighborhood breakfast spot for sure.

Hey there Party People…read more I had heard of this place from friends so I decided to try it. I confused this place with another restaurant when I did my first review. So I want to set the record straight because Los Gatos Cafe was a really good experience. It's a small place but there are outside tables as well. You can order lunch at any time as well as breakfast. We started with Banana Chocolate Chip pancakes. Holy smokes they were the bomb. They had a ton of fresh bananas inside as well as a nice amount of chocolate chips on top. I had the Hot Turkey and Pear sandwich. I know the combo sounds weird but it was super tasty. The pear added crunch and sweetness to the sandwich. There was also a good dose of grilled onions to go with the owie gooey cheese....yum. Hubby had the Granite Flank Steak Sandwich . It was smothered in Gorgonzola cheese with a good portion of Flank Steak. The steak was tender and well seasoned. It was the perfect flavor bite. So going to add this place to the frequent flier list. Be kind to one another

I think you know what this is by now, so no need to repeat the ingredients. Got this with a salad and sandwich deal. I've had them all. Faves of those: -- Dead men tell no tales: pirate themed comes in a chest you can open and the drinks are in diamond shaped glasses. But it's not just a fun show. The drink is amazing. A smooth, complex, clarified bunch. 5 stars -- Magic carpet one: when they had that it was one of my faves I'd order regularly. 5 stars -- Rinse and repeat: one of their classics which comes in a bathtub complete with foam and a rubber duckie. Every time I visit, I am largely ignored while regular customers receive attentive, friendly service. He rarely checks back to see if our food is okay, whether we need refills, or if there's anything else we need. On multiple occasions, our order has been taken carelessly and has been incorrect. What has been especially upsetting is watching him go out of his way to serve his regular customers--bringing them complimentary drinks, checking on them frequently, and making them feel valued--while we are treated as though we don't matter. I have even been asked to move tables so his regular customers could be accommodated. I've been a customer here for two years, yet I've never been made to feel like I belong. Instead, I've consistently felt judged, stereotyped, and treated differently from others. Whether intentional or not, the pattern of behavior has left me feeling that I was treated unfairly because of who I am....feel like this place is racist! A restaurant should make every guest feel welcome, respected, and valued. Unfortunately, that has not been my experience here. I can overlook the occasional mistake, but I cannot overlook repeatedly being made to feel invisible. I sincerely hope management takes this feedback seriously and ensures that every customer is treated with the same level of courtesy and respect. Until then, I cannot recommend this restaurant.

This time it was around noon, so my wife had the mini version of the Mexicano omelette, and I had the American burger with a grilled jalapeño on the side in addition to the french fries and avgolemono soup. My wife enjoyed her omelette, even eating her hashbrowns, which I was surprised to see. Usually, she leaves them for me. She must've been hungry! The hamburger is a half pound of ground Angus beef before cooking and comes with lettuce and tomato and in my case cheddar cheese instead of American. BREAKFAST STEAK AND LUNCH BURGER…read more I ate at City Diner twice. The first time was in April before going to the San Jose Fair Downs to bet on horse races. Before going to bet on horseracing I like to order steak for brunch. I ordered New York steak asking the steak to be cooked medium rare. After several bites I noticed the steak was cooked medium. Maybe it's superstition, but if I do not enjoy my steak I tend to lose at the racetracks. That's what happened at City Diner since the steak wasn't cooked to my preference as I lost money at the San Jose Fair Downs that day. I wasn't planning to come back to City Diner soon however i noticed one of the items listed on the burger section of the menu was corned beef burger. I've eaten pastrami burger before, but not corned beef burger. Also I love corned beef. I came back last Saturday for the corned beef burger. For $3 more instead of fries I requested onion rights. There is an abundance of milkshakes at City Diner. I asked my server and he recommended the "Groom", which is a mocha malt as it is his favorite. The "Groom" wasn't too sweet so I was able to finish it. The corned beef burger included slices of bacon. I was worried that the bacon would mask the taste of the corned beef as both bacon and corned beef are cured. I was correct as I couldn't taste the corned beef due to the bacon. Overall I'm glad I came here to eat for lunch however I do not see myself coming to City Diner anytime soon.
