The pilgrims progress is definitely my favorite sandwich and I've tried to make it myself. It is just not the same. Those sprouts are so fresh and delicious. This location has a stove heater or whatever and it's so beautiful. It's such a beautiful ambience. It's actually really lovely, especially during the holiday holidays. I teach yoga Next Door and I come every Tuesday to get my sandwich. They always know my order. They already have it typed in. I also really appreciate their assortment of drinks. This was my first time at this particular Eric's deli Cafe. I used to go to the Cupertino one and sadly they closed! I was rather hungry so I was lucky this one wasn't too far away. I ended up getting the chicken pesto sandwich, and since I recently hurt my ankle, the server behind the register was really sweet and actually brought the food out to my mom and me! I'd love the extra service since I didn't want to make my mom walk up and grab both of them. It was really sweet of the gentleman to go the extra mile! Especially since younger people in customer service seem not to care. Lol. The ambience of the restaurant area was clean and rustic, a typical Erick deli with random older stove, top looking antiques within the restaurant itself. I will definitely come back to this particular Eric deli again and next time I'll make sure to also go around the corner and get an iced Matcha at Stardust! Since I twisted my ankle, I wasn't doing too much walking and they don't have a parking lot that's close . DO NOT GO HERE. They added cost items not listed on the menu and never disclosed to me till I noticed the receipt--they "cheated" to raise the price for even a slice of cheese. When I asked, they confirmed they just add on costs without telling, and when I complained, their attitude was shockingly nonchallant, almost like they actually enjoyed carrying out the "cheat". No manager was on site when I asked to speak to the manager. Folks, these are truly mean-spirited employees. I left appalled and vowing never to go back. I have been an Erik's customer for many years. Never again. This is no way to conduct a business model. The employees should be ashamed of themselves. Erik's is one of my favorite sandwich places. It has a classic deli vibe with warm wood tones and lots of vintage or nostalgic decor, like old photos and memorabilia. But this time, things didn't go as planned. I ordered my usual, Pilgrims Progress. As the friendly associate took my order, I asked for two things: extra goo (their delicious sauce) and I didn't want the pickle, not really my thing. I took it to go, and as I reached into the bag, I felt the pickle, which annoyed me a bit. Then I took a bite of the sandwich, and that's when my easygoing attitude turned into a bit of frustration. This is one of my BFF & mine regular places to meet for lunch each week (Pho Wagon is the other). We love it here. There's a nice area outside where we can eat al fresco. Years ago, she would bring her dog and we'd be able to hang out there and enjoy a relaxed lunch. Now we eat inside if we want or outside if the weather is nice enough. The food is always fresh and delicious. And it's made so fast that it's on our tray before we finish ordering. We were both really happy to learn you could order a half a sandwich. So I usually get half of a Pilgrim's Progress or REO Speedwagon with a cup of Vegetarian Vegetable soup. Sometimes I'll get some chips. Their salads are always delicious too. And i love how they add in a pickle and orange section. The staff are so nice and friendly and helpful. I love that this location still has the original decor. The bathrooms are individual. I never have found the first one open, but the second one almost always is. Luck of the draw. They're clean and really big so if you need extra room, you got it. And they have a rail next to the toilet which was great when I had a broken leg. Drinks are Coke, and they also have San Pellegrino water and brewed iced tea. I stopped to eat here to burn some times while awaiting an appointment. I was not disappointed. I had the raging bull roast beef. Everything about my sandwich was very good. It was warm, as described on the menu, and tasted very fresh. The two men behind the counter were very attentive to me and the steady stream of customers that strolled in. The building is neat and clean and well-maintained. I enjoyed the historic photos placed on the hallway wall. I am really disappointed with our visit today at this Erik's deli. Totally different vibe then previous visits. we walked in the door and the whole place smelled like bleach with no air condition going and no open doors. then went to go sit on the patio and there were flies everywhere and a homeless person laying on the floor in the corner. I haven't been to Erik's in years. Partly because I don't live in the area anymore but also because I went gluten-free and they didn't have much for me other than salads. And honestly what brings you to Erik's are the sandwiches. But on a recent visit back home we decided to stop by because I saw on their menu they had gluten-free bread! So I thought why not give it a whirl. I had forgotten how much I enjoyed that combination of the super goo and sprouts. My sandwich brought back nostalgia and happy feelings. It's nice when things are consistent. It's exactly as I remembered except with gluten-free bread of course. I'm not sure what type they are using but it is a bit crumbly and would benefit from a little bit of toasting before putting on your sandwich. But mind you not everybody feels this way about their gluten-free bread. I personally like my bread to hold together when I'm eating a sandwich. This is a solid four star deli. It was clean, service was rapid, The decor from way back in the day was still up on the wall but again clean and well maintained. We happened to be attending during what appeared to be the after church crowd gathering but it wasn't too loud and the people working there were attentive and quick. This was our favorite go-to place. I fabricated reason to get their sandwiches and soups. Then things changed, we stopped coming. There's a fund raiser event so I thought I will give it a refresh. The Rueben on Rye was good, but no longer a WOW. We used to do Pot Belly, but I couldn't do two sandwiches in a meal. I got the Cali Calisco which is a turkey sandwich that comes with bacon, white mozerella cheese, red onions, lettuce, mayonnaise & avacado. It comes on a crunchy dutch roll. I also got a cup of the chicken veggie soup which tastes like canned soup. I also tried a small piece of carrot cake. It's less sweet than most other carrot cakes I've eaten in the past. I go to Erik's deli cafe in Campbell often. A young male Erik's employee by the name of Jorge always greets customers with a friendly smile and hello. He makes excellent sandwiches and has great fast service. He is a loyal and dedicated worker always doing deli duties of restocking food items, drinks and chips and also has other duties to do keeping the restaurant clean. My favorite 2 sandwiches are: Erik's Reuben and the Rio Grande Club and Jorge always makes a great sandwich even if you dont want something on it. The food is consistent. I normally get the Pilgrem's Progress and love it everytime. The veggies are fresh and the bread is not soggy as can happen if made without care. The associates are so kind. I was at the phone store next door to this location for so long one day. I didn't purchase a sandwich, but walked in to ask for some water and they graciously gave me a cup of water. I was beyond grateful. The food is consistent and the people are great! The tables are wiped down regularly and I really enjoy Erik's! Soup's pretty good too. I don't eat out much these days, but wanted to send a shout out to this location specifically. Not bad - not great. Bread wasn't too fresh, slightly dry. Meat was standard pre sliced meat, not the highest quality. Sandwich cost about $12. On par, or slightly better than the Mr. Pickles on S Bascom Ave. Sandwich is bigger than Mr. Pickles. Currently would recommend Bertucelli's La Villa Gourmet in Willow Glen. The problem there is that Bertucelli's can get pretty busy. Open to other recommendations. read more

At one time this was a goto place to grab a soup and sandwich. Today we ordered through door dash for delivery. I ordered a bowl of the "Texas Jailhouse" Chili. On the menu, the options are for a cup, bowl, and quart. There is a $1.00 difference between the cup and bowl and apparently no difference in the size. It lists that the chili comes with chopped red onions and cheddar cheese, crackers or bread. My chili arrived cold with no bread or crackers and it did not contain any onions or cheddar cheese. This is a major disappointment and false advertising. My colleagues were not impressed with the cold soups they received and complained that their soups were bland. Erik's has always been one of my favorite spots for lunch. I stopped here on a recent Saturday for a to-go order. I got a half Pilgrim's Progress sandwich and a house salad. There was no line so I was able to order right away and I only waited a couple of minutes for my food. My sandwich was great. Lots of avocado and their goo sauce. Fresh bread. My salad was tasty too. I think corporate needs to come evaluate this place, the food is not being served as intended. We ordered two different "warm " sandwiches and the only thing warn was the rotate toasted bread. Nothing worse than biting into an Abbotts habit and encountering cold, raw mushrooms! I realized that I've been eating at Eric's for about 35 years. I know this a location issue because I order the sandwich at least every week thru doordash, the food comes from the Los Gatos location and it is the same today that it was that first time 35 years ago. Bascom location, please go eat at the Los Gatos location and taste the difference. I will not ever eat at this location again. It's really sad what's become of this location. read more
