Always great service no matter who attends to our table. Food is good and quick we rarely have to wait. Thank you as always.

We have been to this Denny's more than a dozen times in the past and found the food and service to be good but somethings changed. There wasn't any welcoming or greeting. The person that showed us to the table didn't say a word. Some menus were already on the table. The same lady (M.....a) who showed us to the table came back several minutes later and asked if we knew what we wanted. When she took the order I explained that one of us had a birthday. She told us that in order to get the birthday discount a beverage had to be ordered. Which we did. I also asked if I could substitute the standard shredded potatoes that come with every meal with a little bit of fruit and she told me it would be at extra cost. She checked my ID When the food came we were surprised at what little was on the plates. Mine was two runny eggs, two no name sausages, two pancakes. The fruit was in a small mini bowl containing a bit of banana, some older pieces of melon and a some grapes something that looked like may have been in the fridge for a couple of days. My friend's meal was two oily paper thin strips of what resembled bacon, a small portion of scrambled egg, two no name sausages and two pancakes. The meals were lukewarm and served on cold plates. The syrup that was in a refillable bottle on the table was nothing more than sugared water. What added to the disappointment was the cold service. No smile, didn't come back to ask how the meal was (probably didn't want to), no offer of a coffee refill. We ate quickly and when we had finished eating she immediately came and scooped up the dishes, not asking first if we were finished or wanted anything else. Came back put the bill on the table but hadn't given us any birthday discount. We got her attention and asked about the discount and she again asked for ID and adjusted the bill. No warm feeling from this person at all. She was even at the till to collect the payment, it was just business to her and no thank you at all. It was surprising. I guess this is the way things are going at Denny's. Two years ago the quality and portions were decent but not now. We won't go back unless there is management change. It won't surprise me if Denny's will soon be gone like many of the other restaurants in Burnaby and Vancouver that served Canadian western food. read more

Yes, Denny's may be a chain restaurant, but when your craving breakfast at any time of the day, this is the place to go. Love that they kept the classics such as the 'Grand Slam.' Dennys is a staple for many here. Still got the free birthday grand slam or anything on the menu + price of grand slam ($14.59 as of June 2024) All the Dennys I've been to had superb service and this location was no exception. They had not changed their menu in quite a long time and I was tired of getting same things each time. They recently introduced the berry stuffed french toast. Despite its name, the french toast is not stuffed with berries. It's basically a french toast sandwich with whip cream filling and strawberry syrup+strawberries on top. It was delicious and a great alternative to adding syrup. The bacon was a bit overcooked and tough and the sausages were just the generic salty breakfast sausage. I honestly don't remember ever having been to a Denny's, which seems odd because it's Canadian Owned and Operated since 1992. Maybe I just had the image it was a boring place for seniors (and they do have Thursday discounts for age 55+ seniors) and never went. First things first: ASK ABOUT THE SPECIALS. I honestly don't recall our servers mentioning the current burger offer (apparently ends late May) of buy-one-get-one-at-half-price, even when my friend ordered a burger. I only chanced to find out when the promotion screen at our table (which includes a smartphone charger) flipped to the offer. And it took a too-long time to show that offer. By then we had already put in our orders and it was too late to change. Really temped to outright fail them for this. Dessert menu looked really overpriced and lame. Many of the menu items look great in photos but are pretty boring. That said, the items we got were mostly nicely prepared. Bourbon Bacon Burger ($19.59) -My friend's order. It was okay. Bourbon sauce turned out to not be her thing. -She got extra sauce on the side and so we both got to try it straight. It's sweet, plus if you don't like bourbon, probably best to give this a miss and stick to a basic sweet BBQ sauce instead. -Fries were weird -- really powdery on the inside like supermarket frozen processed fries. Also tasted very bland, almost tasteless. -My friend added a slice of French toast. Came with a huge blog of butter on top, cost over $2 I believe but nevertheless cheaper because it got tacked on to her order. French toast is French toast, nothing special here. -Burger looks big but you're getting a decent sized bun. Actual patty is smaller than the bun but on part with other burger joints. -Overall she thought this was mediocre. Crazy Spicy Sizzling' Skillet ($20.59) -A lot Less chicken than in the online picture. -Not a lot of heat here. You get a little from the jalapeno bits. -Decent and not padded with cheap carbs. -Chicken breast was the winner here -- actually tender and juicy. Really nicely done. -Overall I think this was okay value for the price. I think the food got better now. This Denny's has been around for years and I last ate here several years back but didn't think too much about it. It was average. I came here after an early medical appointment as not many places were open. This is 24 hours after all. There were already customers having their breakfast. I saw the promo for their super slam was still available so I ordered that. It was a good deal at $10.99 for a big breakfast. You got eggs, bacon, sausage, hash and pancakes. I also had coffee which was refillable. A hearty homely meal at a good price. The pancakes were so fluffy! I love it. The bacon was a tad too salty for me. Service was good. Coffee was topped up frequently. I usually go to IHOP for pancakes (because of the different syrups) and the kingsway location closed a few years ago. Now I know I can come here for pancakes too. Plenty of parking at the plaza though it may be a wait for a spot if you come during peak periods. read more

We went to Denny's for their BOGO Eggs Benedict offer. My husband and I both ordered Eggs Benedict dishes while our daughter had the Brisk it All melt sandwich. Our Eggs Benedict dishes were both tasty; however, the eggs on both of our plates were overcooked. We're major foodies so we'd been hoping to film a nice, soft yolk oozing out of the egg. Imagine our disappointment when we cut our eggs open only to discover that the egg yolks were dry inside. I did hear from someone else who had the same BOGO offer at the same location of Denny's that their yolk was runny. So, it seems it's possible to come here and get a good Eggs Benedict, but...they are not consistent. Would I come back? Yes. This is the first time we've come here and had food that was subpar. All the other times we've been here, the food was good or decent. I'd give them a lower rating if I were judging based on this one experience alone. However, I'm choosing to factor in previous visits I've made to this restaurant over the years, which bumps the rating up a bit. I probably won't take my chances on ordering any more Eggs Benedicts here though. On a completely different note, there was a claw machine in the restaurant! We didn't try it out but it sure was exciting to see. I wonder how long they've had it. It certainly wasn't there the last time we came, which was...so many years I can't even remember. Moons over my hammy used to be one of my favorites off the Denny's menu - overtime the quality has dropped - I found it to be overly oily/buttery, that picking it up left my hands greasy and wet - not great seeing your sandwich dripping - not cheese but oil... I came here with B for breakfast/brunch. We got the lumberjack grand slam to share. The portion size was huge. It came with 2 pancakes, 2 slices of toast, eggs, 2 sausage, 1 slice of bacon, 1 slice of ham and hash browns. I found out later I could have substituted my hash browns with mashed potatoes. Darn, oh well! Next time. B also got a coffee as well. The portion size was huge. The quality of the food was ok. I found the bacon very salty and everything else was mediocre. I counted the staff inside Denny's and there were over 15 people working. The turn tables were fast. People kept on coming in. Wow this Denny's is sure busy. Service here was excellent. Staff was friendly. Parking is free and readily available behind the restaurant and in the mall as well. This location has been around for decades. Even has the classic building shape. As of the time of writing they open until midnight, which is nice. Parking is available in the large plaza lot. The inside has the traditional layout, with the front counter and waiting area on one end and the large rectangular dining area. Staff are friendly and service was quick. Food is typical diner stuff. Comfort food. The Diner Double burger is decent but wasn't as big as I would've liked. Personally I would go with the smaller cheaper variants on the menu. Popular restaurant for taking seniors and kids with special promotions for kids on Tuesday and for seniors on Thursday. Good service and consistent quality on foods kept this on list of places to enjoy breakfast. Do free refills on coffee gives you a warm fuzzy feeling too? For me I feel care and attention when staff holds a hot coffee jug and walk around to ask you if you would like more coffee. It's easy to make my day and good coffee makes me happy :) read more

I had a double cheese burger with hash browns. I wished they cooked longer a little. More melted cheese and charcoal grilled burger. I just wanted to take the time to mention what outstanding service we had at the Kingsway restaurant this morning. The GM, Harish, went above and beyond to make our experience enjoyable. My sister and I took my nephew, and his two siblings to Denny's for his birthday. My sister and I are plant-based, and Harish helped create the perfect breakfast dish for my sister and I, despite the "no sub" policy at the restaurant. A plant-based veggie hash brown dish, with toast and a beyond patty. Absolutely delish! My nephews and niece were also super stoked with the kids meal items. We wanted Harish to be recognized for his excellent customer service. He went above and beyond. I'd also like to note that it's nice to see more plant-based items on the menu! read more

Denny's FREE Meal for those Birthday Peeps The window sign is clear from outside. For those who don't know, the FREE BREAKFAST GRAND SLAM doesn't have to be the free meal. It is a $11.99 meal, some Denny's locations are strict that it has be that particular one. But this location in Burnaby are flexible. So, you can order anything on the menu for a value of $11.99, and anything over, just need to pay the difference. Okay, now on what I ordered. I saw a NEW dish on the menu, and I figured to taste it. The Lickin' Chicken Fried Chicken comes with 2 side dishes. Since I did not want to much carbohydrates, I chose the sweet corn and squash. Both sides were good, and the fried chicken was good too, although I was looking for super crispy, it was still crispy. Denny's has been a favourite place to go. And what draws food lovers is the birthday with friends and family. I wished other diners would have something similar. Keep in mind, Denny's is a franchise and have been around for a long time, since 1953. The strawberry banana smoothie was a delight, but was really hoping for the mango or even the spinach smoothie, but unfortunately both were not available. We went here for Sunday brunch after church service. There was a bit of a line when we got in but we were able to get a table after less than 10 minutes, and we had fun playing with the claw machine while waiting. So anyway, the food was good. The server was very nice and helpful (too bad I wasn't able to get his name). All in all, it was a good experience. read more

I was craving Denny'a fries, they HAD such great fries. I ordered my usual, Cali club, and a side plate of fries for my son, and my mom also had fries with her meal. I'm shocked they let the fries out of the kitchen. It's not the usual steak cut fries, but the crinkly ones that I can make myself in the air fryer. They were over cooked, more on the brown side, and overly seasoned. I asked for a new order as it was not good. Asked for the usual fries are and they ran out. So sad. Finally got the fries. They were not golden, they were still on the brownish side. It tasted like old oil fried in tonnes of different food. I couldn't eat it. Waitress doesn't come to check, by the time she came we finished our mains. I told her they need to change the oil, is disgusting. She asked if I wanted something else after we were done, I declined as we had to go. Bill came, still charged for a side of fries lol. $17 for a sandwich I can make at home. **COVID-19 REOPENING REVIEW** The hubs and I came here for his bday Grand Slam celebration. The reservation is pretty simple: provide name + phone number, and they will text you when a table is ready. We waited about 5 mins outside and our table is ready. All the tables are spaced out. Our server is quick to provide us a water. We don't eat a lot so after deliberation he ordered 4 items on Build Your Own Slam and then added 2 extra items; while I ordered a coffee. The server was kind enough to noticed that we may share and offered to give me an extra plate. Coffee was refilled quite consistently. Two visits, one review. My first meal of 2020 belonged to Denny's and my first meal on my birthday was also at Denny's! On New Year's Day, enjoyed breakfast for lunch with friends. I ordered the Lumberjack Slam® and fiance ordered the Country-Fried Steak & Eggs (with Seasoned Fries, not pictured). On my birthday, I came for my free birthday breakfast. I built my own Grand Slam®: scrambled eggs, bacon strips, sausage links, and hash browns. Fiance was working from home that day so I was the best fiancee and ordered him his fave, Moons Over My Hammy®, to-go for lunch. For both occasions, food was delicious. I've been here many times before and it's been good. It's usually busy so sometimes service isn't always there, but kinda expected for a busy diner. read more

Every time I decide to eat at Denny's I regret it later. The food really isn't as good as it was back in the day or maybe my taste buds have just changed. I ordered one of the newer items on their Denny's with a Twist menu. Their slogan was "By adding delicious twists, we transformed your diner favorites into colossally awesome ones." The specific dish I ordered was the Double Berry Slam, which consists of 2 buttermilk pancakes with blueberries, topped with strawberries, on the side with 2 eggs, bacon and hash browns. The pancake was rubbery and definitely not in the least bit, fluffy. The eggs were rubbery, which means it was cooked too long and the hash browns were under cooked. Sadly, I don't think I'll be returning. Our waitress however, was attentive and friendly. Points for that. read more

My coworker and I typically get off really late from work where pretty much all of the restaurants are closed. I won't lie -- I only started eating at Denny's because of that. However, I am glad that we are at least close to this location. This Denny's has to be the best out of all of the ones we've been to. The quality of the food is good and is always fresh; I mean you'd expect that at 3AM from most places... but at other locations, we've gotten fries that tasted like they were sitting out for a while. The service is also extremely friendly. There's a regular server that works there at night and he even has remembered our order and habits! He's so awesome and that's what really makes our visits the best. Our typical orders: Poutine, Bacon Cheddar Tots, Ultimate Omelette, Beyond Burger, appetizer sampler. The server here was extremely friendly, polite and understanding. We told her we were visiting and the menu was completely different from where we're from. Where were from were also used to the service sucking and the food taking forever and then being incomplete or burnt. But here at this Canadian location, service, wait time and food was amazing in. You do have to pay for parking but we didn't when we just did a take our order. But the food was sooooo good and if we could we'd go to this location all the time. read more
