Apple crumble French toast -- a little too sweet but definitely a hit!
    Beverly A.

We didn't order waffles but it was still a good decision because our food was solid! We ordered the veggie omelette (with a side of bacon), breakfast poutine, and 2 different kinds of French toast: apple crumble and berry brûlée. All were yummy, but I think the highlight was definitely the apple crumble French toast. The 2 thick brioche slices were cooked just right -- not soggy inside and you can taste the batter perfectly. A big serving of actual apple crumble on top with whipped cream! I'd come back for this again! Also ordered the guava mimosa, which I loved, and an Oreo milkshake. Our server didn't even write down our order! I knocked a star just because we had to wait about 40-mins. for a table and hubby said the omelette was just ok. Will have to come back for actual waffles next time!

We sat at the bar and the girl behind the bar was AMAZING. She was literally multitasking 1000 things at once but still super friendly. The menu is huge, but my fave was definitely the fried chicken benny--sooo good. Close second was the avocado toast (only $13, such a steal!). The Turkish breakfast wasn't really my thing, but honestly still worth a try. Even though the place was packed, the food came out really fast which was awesome.

Pretty standard diner. Think typical Waffle House but slightly elevated. I got the avocado toast and breakfast potatoes. Good portion size on the toast--they load it up with tomatoes, goat cheese, and balsamic.

Waffle House Diner is an absolute hidden gem located right in King George Hub, Surrey -- the perfect brunch or breakfast spot for lazy mornings or when you're in need of a comfort meal! We ordered a delicious variety: Veggie croissant sandwich with crispy waffle fries Eggplant parm sandwich served with a fresh house salad full of seeds, feta, and cherry tomatoes Fried chicken bunny on a waffle with golden baked potatoes -- fun and filling! Their signature hot chocolate topped with whipped cream and chocolate drizzle was a must-try Plus, they made me a virgin raspberry mojito on request -- super refreshing and thoughtful service! The diner has the cutest decor, cozy seating, and adorable waffle and chicken plushies around the place that make it feel extra welcoming.

We stopped by for breakfast before the mad late morning rush without reservations and managed to get a table right away. This was on a weekday so I highly recommend reservations if you can plan ahead. After looking over the menu, I decided on Turkish eggs and a coffee. The Turkish eggs were delicious. I enjoyed the tangy yogurt with the slightly spicy eggs. The sourdough bread soaked up everything and completed the meal. Prices were reasonable for about $20 for my meal. Service was great. We had an older lady server. She managed to keep up with the pace of a busy restaurant and stopped by regularly to refill coffee.

The server was very nice and kind. She did mess up on our order and gave us a kids grilled cheese instead of the regular one. We ended up ordering the soup on the side which made our bill a little more expensive than anticipated, but other than that the food was good. I got the avacado & tomato eggs benny with the salad and they were both pretty good. Nothing crazy to be honest, but a good eggs benny. I do enjoy the lighting in the restaurant, it makes it quite playful. We came mother's day weekend on the Saturday around 8:45am which was perfect because around 9:30 it started to get really busy!

Hidden gem!! Caesar - so delicious and they did not skimp on toppings Puzzy peach mimosa - tastes literally like a fuzzy peach! Turkish eggs - I don't know anywhere else that does Turkish eggs in the city. You'll have to ask for it extra dressed like I did and it'll be good! Otherwise, the photos on Google look too plainly dressed Fried chicken benny - chicken was so crunchy on the outside and perfectly seasoned Everything was great. The wait was 45 minutes for a weekend though. You'll want to go early!

The rubbish Veggie burger that costs SEVENTEEN dollars. That's what it contains.

There were quite a few empty tables and the place felt pretty relaxed. I was doing a bit of work and ended up staying a little longer than the 90-minute table limit. One of the staff members came up to us and said, "Hey, you guys have been here longer than 90 minutes. You'll have to leave soon." I told him that was fine and asked if I could just finish my coffee. He said okay, but then about a minute later he came back with a to-go cup and said, "Here you go, you guys can leave now." Honestly, that caught me off guard. Especially since it wasn't busy and there were still plenty of open tables. During my first visit, Jimmy went above and beyond to make sure everything was great, and I don't think he would have handled it that way. The coffee is still great and I really like the space, but this experience definitely made me think twice about coming back.

During my last trip to Surrey, I made sure to stop by and fill up on caffeine and pastries. This location looks like an Apple Store from the outside with a modern glass exterior and minimalistic interior. From what my friends have told me, this location is much larger than their Downtown Vancouver location. Upon entering, the first thing I saw was Nemesis' vibrant colored boxes nicely lined up on a table next to the window for purchase in addition to merch (shirts, mugs, etc.) featuring their simplistic upside down blue heart logo. They switch out the coffee varieties on a regular basis, and so make sure to check their site first if you are looking for a certain bean! After perusing the merch, I made my way to the line and was captivated by the fancy high-end pastries in the glass counter. The company that makes the pastries is called Dope and they had everything from cookies to croissants to cakes and crullers. Prices were reasonable and I paid under $20 USD for four pastries. They had unique flavors including: strawberry & pistachio danish, tiramisu croissant, churro cruller, iced cap cruller, apple hojicha fritter, ube donut, and more. Like the Nemesis packaging, the Dope pastry boxes were art pieces on their own and probably the prettiest to-go boxes I've ever seen; they are a bright vibrant blue with their signature smile and tongue character logo and metallic writing. They literally look like designer shoe boxes. Nemesis features two seasonal drinks at a time, but they don't offer any flavored drinks otherwise and so if you're looking for a basic vanilla latte, this is not the place. The two seasonal drinks they were featuring in February were the Beet Root Latte and the Black Sesame Corn Latte (no coffee in this one though). Personally, neither quite appealed to me and so I just ordered a basic OAT MILK LATTE sweetened with simple syrup (you could alternatively get it sweetened with honey). The espresso was smooth and the oat milk was nice and creamy. To share with my family, I also ordered the... - APPLE HOJICHA FRITTER ($4.75 CAN) - as someone who doesn't normally like donuts, this fritter was the best fritter I've ever had and definitely on the not-to-sweet side. It was crunchy on the outside, chewy on the inside, and full of apple pieces, apple spiced compote, and cinnamon. The hojicha dusting was subtle but added a nice slight earthiness to the pastry. I liked this pastry so much, I ended up ordering another one later on! - The ICED CAP CRULLER ($4.75 CAN) - this cruller was also fantastic and full of espresso flavor. The espresso cream filling and the condensed milk glaze were delicious and tasted like I was eating a Vietnamese coffee. 10/10 would get this again! - BROWN BUTTER BANANA CAKE ($5.75 CAN) - this cake was super moist and had a beautiful piping of cinnamon espresso buttercream on top. I'd say this one was the least unique of the pastries I ordered, but was a solid slice of banana bread and the buttercream was smooth and light. - CHOCOLATE ORANGE SUISSE ($7.50 CAN) - this pastry was the most interesting texture-wise as it has a crispy exterior that reminded me of chowmein noodles, wrapped around a croissant. The candied orange was very distinct and could be tasted in both the chocolate orange filling and the outside. While the most expensive of the pastries (probably because of the extra labor it takes for this one), I thoroughly enjoyed every bite and would order this one again too. The seating areas and bathrooms are clean. Service is excellent- we got our orders within 10 minutes after ordering and they come by to give you water and silverware as needed. TLDR, Nemesis is 1000% worth the stop and I can't wait to be back whenever I am in Surrey next. Overall, 5/5 for coffee and pastries, 5/5 for service, 5/5 for atmosphere

It is beautifully appointed It has nice high ceilings but there is still a warm welcoming feel. It's the staff. They are all so welcoming and treat you like they are genuinely happy to serve you. We got there before happy hour so we were able to order a couple of glasses of decent house wines for $6.00 a glass and shared an appetizer of crispy chicken lettuce bites. For entrees my husband had an 8 oz. prime rib special. It was so good. cooked as he had requested it. One of the better prime ribs that we've tasted and it was only $30.00 as a Sunday special. I didn't actually realize how close it was via transit as it is right at the Surrey Central building where the Surrey SFU campus is. I believe it is the old pub/liquor store that used to be there. It is very beautifully decorated inside for the holiday season and spacious. It looks like it could honestly be nice for corporate events or semi private gatherings like a birthday/retirement or just regular date night. Our server was very nice so no qualms there. The only thing that threw me off was that our table was seated next to a bit of a gap by a booth and servers kept going through that area "as a short cut", which was a little tight on my end instead of them going around our table. that being said it was relatively empty when we came in, so I was kind of hoping that we didn't have to sit so close to other guests when there were available tables elsewhere. We caught happy hour which was nice and I would recommend their prime rib slider. The lettuce chicken wraps were good but nothing to venture out solely for. We had asked if they could substitute tofu instead of the chicken but we weren't able to make any adjustments to the dish. Our waiter did mention that there is a prime rib special on Sundays and that sounds really good. He also recommended to call ahead and reserve as it can often be sold out the day of. The truffle Parmesan fries were great, we got the cheese on the side as my friend is vegan. She had a crispy tofu bowl and said it was good. I'd like to come back for their prime rib special with my family. Pay parking lot is right across from the restaurant by the skytrain. too bad the restaurant doesn't validate parking.

There was a long wait to order, get our food, and get our bill. My friend ordered the pork belly eggs benny and it was as delicious as last time. I ordered the truffled mushroom frittata and it was nothing special. It was mostly overcooked eggs with mushrooms and a slice of toast that tasted plain. I told the server it was my friend's birthday and I wanted something special for her. Last time I ordered creme brûlée and they put sparklers on it and "happy birthday" with icing sugar. This time their dessert options were all brunch items: tiramisu French toast, chocolate French toast, hot cakes. None of them sounded appealing and they brought out vanilla ice cream in a small bowl and presentation was pathetic. This place has gone downhill, will not be returning.

Their chicken on their waffle was very nice as well, but their waffle was a savory waffle. Which took away the pleasant combo of sweet and savory. But still very good. I would just order more friend chicken next time. well cooked, crispy pork belly too mmm. Price was decent as portions were generous. Service was friendly, and the food took a moderate food amount of time. We went at 2pm to eat brunch, so hoping that it wouldn't take longer during more peak hours. Parking is a bit of a hassle as it's underground parking. A bit of a trek to come to the restaurant, but I think that's the norm now in greater Vancouver area. Sadly the norm is also paid parking with no validation. But I won't dock off points for the restaurant for that Their menu rotates, so I would love to come back and try something new.

It was clean and bright and we got a nice seat by the window. Our server was quick to say hello and take our drink order. I'm always impressed with the breadth of the menu here. I landed on the Seafood Yummy Hash, and hubby had the Big breakfast, again. Coffee and water came first, and we were both delighted at how good the coffee was. Most diner style restaurants have a very burnt tasting coffee but this was very smooth. Off to a good start! Food came out very quickly and looked amazing. Both dishes were beautifully plated, and the fruit on the big breakfast was not a typical canned special. Things took a turn at the first bite though. Taste 10/10, but our food was cold. Like cold, cold which was surprising given the restaurant was mostly empty, and it came out so quick. The quality of the ingredients was excellent, and very obviously in-house made, but both of our potatoes were quite literally cold, with some of the baby potatoes being hard in the middle still. The sourdough was also stale, but not just stale in taste, it was almost like it had been toasted well in advance and then plated. The review on the big breakfast remains the same as last time. Sausage was amazing, but the bacon and the ham left something to be desired. The server took some time to return back to our table and check in on us. When she did I told her our food was cold. She just kind of made a face, said oooooh, apologized, and that was it. She also had to be reminded to refill our coffees a second time after asking. The last shock came with the bill. While the prices overall were reasonable for very large servings of food, two black coffees came to $11. I know we raved about them at the beginning of the review, but not sure they were $11 good. Really wanted to love it, but not sure it lived up to expectations this time.
