Although the menu is somewhat customizable I would not go there if you have serious allergies or strict preferences because they tend to overlook details like that. We were surprised to arrive and was told that there is around a 40 min wait for food despite the restaurant not being completely full. We were originally shocked by that, but appreciate the staff letting diners know in advance. Perhaps they were short staffed or had a lot of takeout orders. Luckily, the food didn't take 40 min. Our server was incredible. He was friendly and present when we had to flag him down. He even gave us recommendations. The food is nothing spectacular. The eggs were a touch too burnt on the bottom and I wish the hash browns were crispier. Otherwise, everything else was fine. On another breakfast/brunch adventure, my friend decided to humour me by going to Denny's in Burnaby. I had never been to this location before, so it seemed like a good idea to try it out. It must be a good location and a good restaurant, because I was pleasantly surprised to find the parking lot nearly filled first thing in the morning. The restaurant was already fairly busy by the time we showed up showed our vaccine passports, but we were seated without much difficulty. Denny's is your standard chain restaurant with an extensive breakfast menu. After a lot of trepidation over the amount of choices, I finally settled on the Loaded Veggie Omelet with Rye Bread and Hashbrowns. In hindsight I guess ordering a veggie omelet with hashbrown almost negates the attempt to be healthy, but I must say it was a very decent meal. Standard omelet with a generous amount and variety of veggies (mushrooms, spinach, swiss cheese, bell peppers). I'm not sure what kind of sauce was used in cooking, but it was present in the omelet and was a nice complement. For folks looking to be extra healthy, the bread came already buttered so perhaps just asking for toast (sans butter) may be an option? I had hoped the swiss cheese would be a little more melted than it actually was, but I can't really complain too much over the standard fare. I have to give a shoutout to our waiter, Rick. He was upbeat, courteous, and magically materialized whenever our coffee or water glasses were half empty. He did encourage us to take the survey on the QR code located on the receipt. Of course, I forgot to try out the QR code on the receipt for the survey to give Rick a rave review. This is a great all-around family restaurant. Of course, brunch is their specialty and weekend morning gets very busy here. I love their coffee, which I take black, always have rich and flavorful taste. As with good family restaurants, Denny's offers variety kids meal combination and my kids love their offerings. I was in today at the Denny's in Coquitlam for a late lunch. We're greeted and seated fast after being told to sanitize out hands, not sounding as a suggestion. The first, unpleasant, surprise was when we were handed the menus: although they were said to be clean and sanitized, with a sign posted below their box, mine came filthy. Waiter seemed overwhelmed and we struggled to get refills and our orders. Food was surprisingly very good. I had a double burger and my wife a ham sandwich. Lime cheesecake was good too. This Denny's is very busy on the weekends, but the wait isn't too long as they turn the tables over fast. The restaurant is all booths pretty much which I like. The service is great here, fast but once you are seated you don't feel rushed. I was pleased to see that they had beyond meat burgers on the menu now. I had one and it was great. We also tried their pan fried Brussels sprouts starter. They were delicious and surprisingly bistroesque for Denny's. In love that this Denny's is still one of the older style slanted roof types. Compared to iHop, Denny's food quality is much higher with great service, clean and neat interiors plus great attitude from both manager and staff. I had been frequenting Denny's for over 30 years in and off, some decades more frequent than others. I have to say their breakfast pancakes had improved by light speed years (the cinnamon roll topping is cooked into the pancake to form a crispy crumb that you drizzle hot cream cheese icing over). This cinnamon pancake beats many New Orlean-inspired southern style waffle houses both locally and in Portland. Will have to come back to try other items on their "new " menu. read more

Today is Christmas Day. Majority of the restaurants are closed except the Chinese ones. It is great that Denny's still opens today. I would like to say thank you Denny's who still opens and their staff who still serve customers on Christmas Day. Denny's offers a Christmas menu putting away their regular menus today. We ordered an ultimate omelette and lumberjack slam as well as a cup of coffee. Our server provided great customer service although she was swamped serving many customers at the same time. Indeed all their servers were doing a great job overall. Their service was fast as they knew many customers were waiting to be served. The food was good as the chefs in the kitchen must be so busy cooking for many customers on Christmas Day. I would be happy as long as the servers could do their job well ordering the right food, giving us the right items and continuing to serve us during the meal especially that Christmas Day was the busiest time for them. I wouldn't complain too much. :) by the way, the food was not too greasy. Better than I expected. The parking lot outside this Denny's is small, so customers may need to park at another parking lot on the other side of the same complex. I was lucky to park outside Denny's as someone was leaving. I wouldn't mind to come back here for breakfast once in a while. read more

The server we had was great so she got a good tip at the end but the prices these folks are asking are way out of range. Coffee (which isn't the greatest) is $3.59 plus tax, a glass of mediocre orange juice is $4.49 plus tax and a simple breakfast now a days is $15.99 plus tax. Won't be heading there for breakfast again. The food quality was okay, I had eggs benny with medium cooked eggs and they were a tad underdone so had that slimy white goo that shouldn't be in a medium cooked egg. My husband loved his dish though so at least there was that for the huge price we paid. The fellow at the cash register was kind of odd as well. He mumbled more than anything so he was hard to hear and when the payment went through he just turned away, no comment or bye. read more

Really bad service and incompetent staff: went here yesterday and ordered the Fit Slam and my partner ordered pancakes since he had a coupon. I asked for my Fit Slam to be Vegetarian. They brought it with bacon. I asked kindly for it to be remade and I looked up and saw her scoop it off the plate and move it around and bring it right back. I tried to get her attention as she walked briskly away but didn't get it. I ended up going to the front with my partner and they told us we owed $22.00 then said it actually was $26.00. They didn't seem to know how to break up a bill or add the tax. We stood there for another ten minutes as they tried to do it. I began to complain to the manager but he walked away! I often say going to Denny's takes a year off your lifespan. While this is true, that hasn't stopped me from going there. Over the years, I've shaved about 6 years off my life. I go there for 1 reason and 1 reason only...and that's to have Chicken Fried Steak and Eggs. I mean, there's nothing wrong with a battered steak, deep-fried for maximum crunchiness, then smothered in country gravy. 50 calories, 1g of fat, 2mg of sodium. Sounds about right. It''s not the best Chicken Fried Steak and Eggs I've ever had but it's not like there's a lot of places in Canada that serves this kind of thing. I usually have to go to the States for that. For a chain restaurant with a somewhat questionable reputation, their service levels are better than most other chain restaurants on average. I haven't had a really poor experience with any of their servers yet. They've all seemed to be competent and motivated. read more

This particular Denny's has the absolute worst service. As a tradition, every Saturday my family goes out for brunch. We have been to this spot around 5 times total and it never ceases to amaze me, how rude the staff is. Being fake nice towards the end of the meal for a tip is a recurring event. Also, they really need a new card machine. We had to wait for them to turn it off and on multiple times, call the disgruntled manager and re-swipe multiple times. All of this took more than 30 minutes and happened on more than one occasion. Go to this Denny's if you don't mind bad customer service. The foods fine. read more

Denny's is like a 24 hr fast food, you don't dine here for the best quality stuff. I had the Turkey and stuffing and although I did enjoy it... It not only tasted EXACTLY like the "Hungry Man" microwavable TV dinner the display was picture perfect same picture on the Hungry Man box. Turkey and Stuffing. I am one of the few people I know, that actually likes Hungry Man (10 years of MRE's in the military makes TV dinners seem a lot more delicious than they probably should be) their potatoes in that meal have a very distinctive taste and texture. Honestly I was a little shocked by this. Like I said, I did enjoy it, but I would bet $100 bucks they pulled out a Hungry Man, Nuked it and put it on a plate. The whole meal had that TV tray flavor, but It was the potatoes that gave it away for me. No way you can duplicate them that I can think of, nor would any restaurant ever want too. I go to this Denny's all the time, this is the first TV dinner I ever ate there. It may have been a failover trick. Anywho... I last went here in my teens! I am in my 50s now. Surprisingly affordable extensive menu with actually flavourful food~! I ordered a 3 berry large double pancakes that came with two eggs, bacon, and hash browns. $12.00. My two girls also received huge servings and ate all of their food without being prompted. Staff was super nice from reception greeting, to the bus staff, our server, and even the Mgr. was walking the floor filling coffee mugs. It was 11am on a Saturday and we got our seat within 5 minutes in a booth. It was a great meal and we were told several times 'no rush' after getting the bill dropped at the table. This was, by far and away, the best Denny's experience I have ever had! No lie! I tried their new Double Berry Slam, but not being a huge fan of blueberries I got chocolate chip pancakes to substitute. Our waiter, Patrick, asked if I wanted milk chips or white chips, to which I said 'surprise me'. He delivered my meal with 2 giant pancakes loaded down with a mix of white and milk chocolate chips, strawberries, cream cheese icing, and whipped cream. It tasted as good as it sounds. The rest was just as good. The hash browns were brown and crunchy. The eggs were nicely scrambled. The bacon was the perfect balance of crispy and chewy. Here is where the great service comes in: I found a hair in my hash browns. Yikes! And I was only halfway through. :( Patrick was there in a flash apologizing and asking if I wanted a whole new plate of food. I asked to only have replacement bacon as the pancakes were huge and filling. Within minutes I had a fresh plate of 4 hot off the grill strips of, once again perfect, bacon. When everyone was finally finished (because small kids take forever), Patrick was there with our bill. He didn't just give me a discount on my meal, he took the whole Slam off!
