We were surprised to arrive and was told that there is around a 40 min wait for food despite the restaurant not being completely full. We were originally shocked by that, but appreciate the staff letting diners know in advance. Perhaps they were short staffed or had a lot of takeout orders. Luckily, the food didn't take 40 min. Our server was incredible. He was friendly and present when we had to flag him down. He even gave us recommendations. The food is nothing spectacular. The eggs were a touch too burnt on the bottom and I wish the hash browns were crispier. Otherwise, everything else was fine. It would be great if the eating area was a touch cleaner - the menus were a bit greasy and the floor was quite dirty. The main highlight of our meal was our server though!

    Loaded Veggie Omelet

On another breakfast/brunch adventure, my friend decided to humour me by going to Denny's in Burnaby. I had never been to this location before, so it seemed like a good idea to try it out. It must be a good location and a good restaurant, because I was pleasantly surprised to find the parking lot nearly filled first thing in the morning. The restaurant was already fairly busy by the time we showed up showed our vaccine passports, but we were seated without much difficulty. Denny's is your standard chain restaurant with an extensive breakfast menu. After a lot of trepidation over the amount of choices, I finally settled on the Loaded Veggie Omelet with Rye Bread and Hashbrowns. In hindsight I guess ordering a veggie omelet with hashbrown almost negates the attempt to be healthy, but I must say it was a very decent meal. Standard omelet with a generous amount and variety of veggies (mushrooms, spinach, swiss cheese, bell peppers). I'm not sure what kind of sauce was used in cooking, but it was present in the omelet and was a nice complement. For folks looking to be extra healthy, the bread came already buttered so perhaps just asking for toast (sans butter) may be an option? I had hoped the swiss cheese would be a little more melted than it actually was, but I can't really complain too much over the standard fare. I have to give a shoutout to our waiter, Rick. He was upbeat, courteous, and magically materialized whenever our coffee or water glasses were half empty. He did encourage us to take the survey on the QR code located on the receipt. Of course, I forgot to try out the QR code on the receipt for the survey to give Rick a rave review. If you ever decide to stop by this Denny's location and you get Rick as your waiter, you are in for a treat!

Came here to claim the b-day freebie. Unlike Ihop, Denny's honour their tradition. 5/5 service 4/5 food 4/5 value 3/5 for ambiance. Ever wonder why Denny's have lasted so long? Great value, enticing menus and great customer service. Had the Chocana Pancake Breakfast. The pancake was better than I expected. The continental breakfast portion was standard. Quite a filling meal satisfying both the savoury and sweet side of the taste buds. Will I come back. You betcha.

This is a great all-around family restaurant. Of course, brunch is their specialty and weekend morning gets very busy here. I love their coffee, which I take black, always have rich and flavorful taste. As with good family restaurants, Denny's offers variety kids meal combination and my kids love their offerings. The customer service is consistently good and friendly. If you have young children, I highly recommend this place.

    Strawberry crepe breakfast

Opted to go here cause jimmys place was closed. Dennys has good breakfast but I wouldn't go there on a daily basis. I enjoyed the crepe but got pretty full from it. But I also had a strawberry shake with it. The hash browns weren't as crispy as I would hoped for. Good decent breakfast. But I prefer jimmy's place which is very close to this location.

    Dirty "Clean and Sanitized" Menu

I was in today at the Denny's in Coquitlam for a late lunch. We're greeted and seated fast after being told to sanitize out hands, not sounding as a suggestion. The first, unpleasant, surprise was when we were handed the menus: although they were said to be clean and sanitized, with a sign posted below their box, mine came filthy. Waiter seemed overwhelmed and we struggled to get refills and our orders. Food was surprisingly very good. I had a double burger and my wife a ham sandwich. Lime cheesecake was good too. Would come back if they improved cleaning. The place and table definitely looks dirty. 4 stars for food, 2 for the ambient and server. Average three is good enough.

This Denny's is very busy on the weekends, but the wait isn't too long as they turn the tables over fast. The restaurant is all booths pretty much which I like. The service is great here, fast but once you are seated you don't feel rushed. I was pleased to see that they had beyond meat burgers on the menu now. I had one and it was great. We also tried their pan fried Brussels sprouts starter. They were delicious and surprisingly bistroesque for Denny's. In love that this Denny's is still one of the older style slanted roof types. Great experience.

New Cinnamon crumb pancake -oh so crunchy delicious

Good quality breakfast with gourmet touches on pancakes such as crispy cinnamon roll and Choconana topping will keep us coming back for more. Compared to iHop, Denny's food quality is much higher with great service, clean and neat interiors plus great attitude from both manager and staff. I had been frequenting Denny's for over 30 years in and off, some decades more frequent than others. I have to say their breakfast pancakes had improved by light speed years (the cinnamon roll topping is cooked into the pancake to form a crispy crumb that you drizzle hot cream cheese icing over). This cinnamon pancake beats many New Orlean-inspired southern style waffle houses both locally and in Portland. Will have to come back to try other items on their "new " menu.

    Christmas menu

Today is Christmas Day. Majority of the restaurants are closed except the Chinese ones. It is great that Denny's still opens today. I would like to say thank you Denny's who still opens and their staff who still serve customers on Christmas Day. Denny's offers a Christmas menu putting away their regular menus today. We ordered an ultimate omelette and lumberjack slam as well as a cup of coffee. Our server provided great customer service although she was swamped serving many customers at the same time. Indeed all their servers were doing a great job overall. Their service was fast as they knew many customers were waiting to be served. The food was good as the chefs in the kitchen must be so busy cooking for many customers on Christmas Day. I would be happy as long as the servers could do their job well ordering the right food, giving us the right items and continuing to serve us during the meal especially that Christmas Day was the busiest time for them. I wouldn't complain too much. :) by the way, the food was not too greasy. Better than I expected. The parking lot outside this Denny's is small, so customers may need to park at another parking lot on the other side of the same complex. I was lucky to park outside Denny's as someone was leaving. I wouldn't mind to come back here for breakfast once in a while.

Choconana pancakes, turkey bacon, hash browns and scrambled egg whites... deelish

While there were no…read moretoddler friendly utensils, they do offer booster seats and the wait staff were absolutely amazing and so patient with our little one. Thanks so much! They offered to split our lobster bisque so we could each have our own. We've also tried their tableside salad and desserts before and enjoyed the shows. My toddler wanted to get a closer look. The ambience is moody with high ceilings, low lighting, and plush seats. There is a constant buzz of conversations around us to provide a bit of intimacy and privacy to our conversations, while also allowing our toddler to be just a bit rowdy without feeling like we are disturbing the other guests. Of the food, I love the mushroom side with the truffle fondue. I wanted to dip everything in it as it was so flavourful and delicious. Complimentary bread with butter and blue cheese butter were offered to start. The brussel sprouts side was also unique with the added pistachios and a crisp for some crunch. The hearty mussels and clams starter were great for a rainy evening. Portion was enough as a meal by itself, too! There is a covered parking lot for those driving. I suggest making reservations as it can be quite busy!

Located at the Grand Villa Casino in Burnaby, free parking available in the casino lot across the street, but be warned that it's dirty as hell & smells terrible. Atlas Steak & Fish, is a supreme restaurant via looks, decor, lighting, seating, piano bar, table service, excellent waiters, food presentation & more. I ordered an Atlas Old Fashioned & let me tell you - WOW! Truly one of the best Old Fashioned I've ever had. (Bulleit 10yr bourbon, charred rosemary-maple syrup, aromatic bitters, cacao bitters served smoked over a 2" ice cube) The complimentary bread & butter was delightful. Our waitress Marina was fantastic. Our dinner consisted of Pan Seared Sea Scallops, Halibut & Lobster Risotto & the Tomahawk Pork Chop. Everything tasted splendid & knocked it out of the ball park. For dessert, get the Baked Alaska - it is absolutely sensational! The table service is spectacular - see my video clips. Make a reservation & get here ASAP! Hot tip alert - the dinning room temperature can be a bit cold. Ask for a blanket once you start freezing!

The restaurant was dimly lit with Background music playing in the speakers. Very modern classy vibe. Our server asked if we had any specific beverages other than the water we were given that we wanted. We decided to stick with just water as it was late(Monday night). We perused through the menu and both decided to have the taste of tri-cities menu they had going atm. Wifey ordered for appy the crispy chili tofu and I ordered a individual charred corn/avocado dip with tortilla chips. For mains wifey ordered blackened Cajun chicken and I had a deluxe burger. Dessert wifey ordered mini caramelized vanilla cheesecake and i got the mini sticky toffee chocolate pudding. The crispy chili tofu was quite nice, crispy and flavorful. It came with a dipping sauce which i liked but wifey found the tofu was already seasoned enough she opted not to use it. My individual dip was delicious and creamy, well seasoned. Cajun chicken was moist,I found it slightly salter than I like but maybe it's my age? I've been finding lots of things salter than I remember or maybe all you younger ppl like saltiness lol. Wifey also found it a bit salty. My burger was very messy but tasty, crispy bacon within and fresh lettuce. Decent burger. Fries again i found a bit over salted. For dessert the vanilla cheesecake didn't stand out. Pretty standard, tasted fine as vanilla cheesecake goes. The sticky toffee pudding was good. Soft and moist, served a la mode. Both desserts were served with a thin brittle which was very good. My only complaint was the spoon at the establishment seems kinda overly thick or something as it's very hard to scoop up the dessert into it. Made eating the dessert hard and finicky. Over all nice late dinner, decent food and great servers. Very solid in terms of food and service/atmosphere.
