Say what you will about Denny's, but I had a good experience here recently. Service was standard. The strawberry lemonade (free refills) beats any restaurant I've had lately. I don't know what it is that makes it so amazing. It was perfectly tart and sweet, bursting with strawberry flavor. Additionally, the nachos (full order) were tasty and delicious. The chips were crisp; the meat was flavorful; all of the toppings were fresh and combined well together. To top it off, they added a huge glob of sour cream on top, whereas most places barely put any sour cream and you're forced to ask for more. The full order of nachos is huge. Even though I shared them, I still couldn't finish my grand slam. The original grand slam breakfast was okay. The lemonade and nachos left me very satisfied. This was my first visit in a long time. Denny's was the only comfort food I know since Junior High. Yes, this particular location and I have gone way back. The other one near Walker Street closed down and became a All-You-Can Eat Buffet (VIP Buffet in La Palma). What's so special about this Denny's? Long ago, there was a popular motel chain that is next door to this Denny's. The coolest thing about the motel next door was that you can call in to the front desk and order room service ....from Denny's menu! They would help you order the items, pick up the to-go meals from Denny's and bring it up to your room. That was the awesome catch back then if you were staying at that motel. Too bad, it changed ownership and it is no longer part of that major chain as it is now an independently owned and operated. I guess you can still have a secret rendezvous or have a prom party next door (not that I'm admitting to that) and then hit up this place for that good ol' American Classic meal at any time day and night. The only thing you have to expect is the slow service, kids coming at all hours (including school days), food taking forever, and then having the food taste cold. It's a real bummer, but I still have the nostalgic memories of the room service from this place. ---------- BTW, I'm marking no delivery for this place. You can still try to ask if the motel still picks up the food from Denny's and bring it up to you. If that is the case, then it's motel that does the delivering, not the restaurant. read more

I have not been to Denny's in a LONG time. It was 8:30am and we need to wake up before hitting the road. Denny's was just less than 1 mile from the hotel and next to a gas station. So what the heck. This is a standard Denny's from what I remember. We were greeted and seated by a friendly employee. We were greeted by our server right away too. The employees are super friendly. +1 I ordered the meaty scramble with hash browns and pancakes. Basically it was scrambled eggs with sausage and bacon, served with hash browns, 2 more links of sausage, and 2 strips of bacon. It was good but the eggs were a little too done for me. Daniel the old man that works the graveyard shift should not be able to work by himself, he cannot manage 2 tables at once. We come here often hoping he is not the one working the shift and as soon as we see him we know it's going to be terrible service, We always tip him because we have manners, but I think this finally draws the line, we've been sat for 15 min and he hasn't even offered us drinks. read more

We went for breakfast on Father's Day and Angela #1 was our server. She was very attentive. She warmed up my coffee before my meal arrived We were five of us. Yet she was on top of it Angela was wonderful. Her bright smile made our meals so pleasurable and she was so engaged with our order. I'm Asian and I don't get this kind of cooking at home so I often crave the American Graffiti in me and want some comfort food, AKA food for my "Mental Health." I was in the area and kinda had a taste for Denny's type of meal so went there. Located right next to Quality Inn and suites, right off of 91Fwy. The server was pretty nice but the food was very disappointing. The toast, steak and sides were all cold when it was supposed to be straight out of the kitchen. So I asked the server guy to heat it up. He took my plate to heat it up and came back, anything barely changed...:/ I didn't go to Denny's expecting them to have the highest quality steak dish but meat was tough and like I said, everything was cold...it got bit warmer after it was microwaved but yeah...I expected better. read more

The food was disgusting. I got T-Bone steak and eggs and the steak tasted microwaved and the color of it was gray, most likely was pre-cooked. The eggs had cracked shells in it too. I went during midnight where there were no customers at all, so there shouldn't be an excuse for the chef to have not noticed shells left in the eggs. read more

Your standard Denny's... nothing fabulous to write home about... but this is MY Denny's I go to late night... Cause it's the only thing open in the deserted streets in Cerritos after 10 PM that isn't jam packed with 75+ high school teenagers bopping around, smoking up a storm, tryna look cool, and madd hardcore-ing boba/shaved ice/brick toast at the local Guppy Teahouse the next exit over on the 91 freeway. Nacho plater is my regular entree here... don't let anyone tell you otherwise. I actually love sitting in Mary's section late nights... she does the night shift. Because they don't have that many people working at night, she actually assembles my nacho plate for me everytime I get it. And even though I may not visit her often, but when I do, that nacho plate ALWAYS hits the spot for me. Greasy, gooey, crunchy, warm with a bazillion calories (well, OK, not a BAZILLION, but I think the Denny's calorie counter menu thingie says over 1,000... EEK!), Mary always serves me my food with a smile and a really laid back attitude. You will get a swell in the crowd about the same time the clubs/bars close down/let out around 2-3 AM... but other than that, it's usually pretty chill, and you get served pretty fast. Great place to people watch though in the middle of the night... boy, I've seen some CHARACTERS at this Denny's late night. I normally love Denny's, I love the pancakes and moons over my hammy. However, this location is very rude and hostile. If you're in the Norwalk/Cerritos/Artesia area and you're debating between this location and the one in Pioneer Blvd. i would highly suggest you go to that one. The service here takes forever to serve you, and they very rudely yelled at my mom for taking a bite of my pancakes. The manager arrogantly asked if we needed to make another order of pancakes, because they only allow one stack of pancakes per person. Which is ridiculous and I do it at the other Denny's all the time and they never say anything, they even offer to bring you another plate in case you do want to share pancakes. Took them 1hr to seat us then 1hr to bring our food, once our food arrived it was so bad i can say I'll will no longer eat here. I love country gravy but it was water down with no flavor bacon had no flavor sausage just dry i asked for tabasco sauce to maybe add a Little bit if flavor and it was so hot I couldn't even enjoy my meal at all after that. This has been my worst experience at Denny's. I mean I've been to bad ones with good service but this place was just not cutting it. 1- Dishes were dirty and I mean really dirty. NASTY. Even the seats were wet and oily. 2- Server James was Rude. He wasn't our server but when he came to deliver the food he was saying "who ordered...." And he was still afar from our table, so to say it out loud was pretty rude. Then he said "could someone pass it down", a please and thank you would be nice to add on to that sentence. 3- The computers were down and it would be nice to be warned before dinner that Cards are down and cash only. Came to Denny"s here in Artesia. Pioneer and 91 freeway. No manager or host was at the front. Manager was eating his lunch and just looked at me and continued eating. He then looked again and looked to see if someone would seat me, still none. I grabbed a menu and utensils and picked a booth to sit in. We had an awesome waiter! Never been so impressed he also took care of us earlier in the day. We had also encountered this "waitress". I left a rose on the counter for her as we left because I could tell she had an attitude. We decided to go back for dinner. Then come the end of our experience we asked ahead if they accepted Apple Pay and the answer was yes. Once we tried to pay we were treated horribly. This "waitress" with white skin, brown eyes, about 5'8 and straight brown hair in a pony tail decided her attitude was apart of the service. The Apple Pay was not working! I suggested it could be the machine that was malfunctioning. She immediately goes "No it works. It's been working all night- expect for you guys!" Very condescending. Not helpful once. She started stating that if we couldn't pay then she didn't know what she would have to do; if she should call her manager or the. Then she doesn't finish her sentence as if to say she was threatening us with police over a $45 dinner for my husband, myself and 8 month old son. It seemed very personal to her we were having issues with THEIR machine. She kept walking off so we would have to wait to the chance to pay again. I was treated very disrespectful by the manager name sal or Salvador. I was waiting to be seated for more then 10 min no employee even attempted to ask me if I wanted to be seated or told me how long I'll be waiting. There was no wait as well. So I decided too choose a table from all the empty tables there was. I waited another 8 min for someone to get my order until I had to ask if I can get someone to get my order ready. The person I ask with out knowing was the manager Salvador that told me that the reason he won't help me was because I set my self down. I told hem I'm sorry but I was waiting for too long when there no one waiting. Instead of understanding he said loud that I didn't matter that I should've kept waiting and that customer are always wrong. He kept on and on saying other stuff, I'm a mom with two children getting disrespected for no reason in front of my children. Love this Denny's! We went for my birthday and Desiree was our server. She was very attentive there were 10 of us, yet she was on-top of it. I know that many people can be overwhelming especially for a server, if she was under pressure it did not show. Our food came out together and as far as I remember she did not forget anything. She was sure to bring drink refills and after awhile she would make sure to ask who else needed a refill so she didn't have to go and come back. This restaurant has always been clean and all the servers by far have been exceptional. I have seen many regulars go and the servers know them and their orders. Ordered a club sandwich and it had a funny taste, mayonnaise was either old or expired. I returned my llate. Did not ask for refund. When oaying the old hispanic manager made a renark about nobody else complaining about mayo. He nade sure to sarcastic and loud enough fir everyone to hear. I told him i did not want a refund and that i was not trying to get a free meal( i only atr one piece out of 4). He shook his head as he entered our ticket. He was so unprofessional.
