Came here one a Friday morning around 10:00 and was surprised there was so many people there. We were in a rush but saw every table already had food so we decided to stay. The waitress was quick in taking our orders and brought us coffee immediately but forgot our waters. The coffee wasn't that great but it did its job. The cook time took an exceptionally long time despite everyone having food. I liked my western omelette breakfast sandwich and my friend enjoyed her meal as well. I have found my new favorite greasy spoon: Dempsey's Breakfast & Lunch! I came here with my husband around 9:30 am on a hot Saturday morning. Although you never know what you're going to get in a small diner in terms of air conditioning, I am pleased to report the AC was pumping and it was quite comfortable. Also, I was psyched to see it wasn't super crowded and we could get seated in a roomy booth right away. Our waitress was friendly and accomodating; we told her although we live in down the street it was our first time here. She chatted with us about Everett and definitely made us feel welcome. Decor and finishes were old looking (the restaurant has been around awhile) but the whole place (including the open kitchen behind the counter) was really clean. We ordered scrambled eggs, bacon, ham, home fries, and toast - nothing crazy, but everything was quite tasty. Generous portions without being excessive. I was nervous when I saw my ham looked like a slightly thicker deli slice, but heck, it was good so who cares? Next time I am feeling more indulgent, I will try their Reese's peanut butter cup pancakes or Oreo pancakes, or maybe their fruit French toast with strawberries, blueberries, banana, and kiwi! They also have a variety of flavors of iced coffees if you're into that - my husband had one during breakfast and one for the road. Cost for two breakfasts and two coffees was less than $15 - really great. One drawback is they do not accept credit cards, but there's a Bank of America across the street in case you didn't bring cash like us. Also, they use an app you can download on your phone for free (I forget what its called) and you can pay via your smartphone instead. They are known for their large assortment of muffins that they bake fresh every morning. The muffins are huge and they have some unique flavors like red velvet and double chocolate. Since muffins are my second favorite food, I took a cinnamon chip to go and ate it later that night - delicious! So moist and yummy. Would definitely pick up a half dozen next time I am hosting guests or throwing a brunch gathering. Very happy with my experience - I think this will become a regular spot for us! read more

I really like the George's special which is a turkey and egg white breakfast sandwich with tomatoes. It's really so simple and just done so well. Good home fries too. Another fave is the stuffed French toast I think it's called dempsey's toast? It's French toast stuffed with custard. Yummmmm. Not to be had too often tho =) Okay highlights from the bakery. This is my favorite breakfast place. Everything is fresh and made to order. The hollandaise sauce on the Eggs Benedict is the best I've ever had at a diner. Their link sausage is really, really good. Homefries are always perfect- cooked nice and crispy on the outside and seasoned well. Waffles are huge and the strawberries are fresh, not the icky, syrupy stuff some places have. The whipped cream is real, too. I have twin toddlers and when we go in, the staff is always really nice, even thought they tend to be messy. There are a lot of regulars, and yes, the waitstaff does tend to chat them up more, but I have never had anything but prompt, friendly service- even on a Saturday morning when they are packed. read more

I go there once or twice and week. The 2 young waitresses that work there are very nice, but the older lady named Viola is beyond rude. She don't like anyone who ain't her kind. She is rude and goes to the other waitresses and talks about the customers. She last time was like oh that person only gave me a 5 dollar tip. Geez I wonder why?! She is a straight up b***h. Just had an extremely unpleasant breakfast here. I squeezed syrup onto my french toast and ate 75% of it. My friend tried using the syrup and it got clogged. We open the top and there was a fly stuck inside preventing the syrup from coming out. We immediately stop eating and notify the waitress. They still had the nerve to charge us $10. There really isn't anything not to love about this excellent breakfast and brunch joint. Here's my top ten of tips and faves for Dempsey's: 1. Breakfast sandwiches, especially if you're on the go. They have a good selection of bagels if you get there early enough, too. 2. Muffins. Really - the best muffins you'll ever have. The only problem is choosing which one, since they usually have about 10 kinds. I recommend the cinnamon chip, and since you're committing to eating a muffin, do order it grilled. It's the only way to really experience it. 3. The Greek omlette. I recommend adding spinach. 4. The locals and the hostel visitors. Always folks to look at. 5. The staff - Frank, Viola, Angie, and Tanya have enough sass to make your head spin, so be polite and patient. It's part of the charm, and they won't say a peep if you linger over a third cup of coffee. They also won't look at you funny if you want just egg whites in your omlette. 6. The hashbrowns. For a few months there, they really were off, but now they're back to great. If Frank has time, he'll make 'em extra crispy if you request it (just don't request it if the place is packed). 7. Pancakes and bacon. The pancakes are fluffy, and each bite paired with bacon well done is like heaven in your mouth. 8. Location, location, location. Right by the T stop, right at the main intersection, and right near the hostel. 9. The hash. Not my bag, but my husband loves it. 10. Get a booth. If the place is packed, but you're the first one in line, it's worth waiting for. read more

Iv been comin here since I was about 14 ( 13 years) and old enough to go get breakfast with my friends this is the place where you want to eat and it's not healthy but it's amazing and filling. You get big plates tons of food the wait staff knows your name and says hi and all very friendly. Years back they changed owners but not the good quality, the prices have gone up but so hasn't every where eles. We usually spend 40 for 3 of us but we do get a lot of food. It's packed on the weekends and usually a wait but during the week it's nice and quiet and you can just sit right down. This is a greasy spoon kind of place. The muffins are fresh and awesome and the coffee is good. One cup of coffee comes with breakfast for most if not all of the breakfast entrees, but you do have to pay for refills. That's good for me because I usually only have one cup anyway! If you're looking for healthy options, this isn't the place for you. You can try to make healthier choices like egg whites and no butter on the toast, but they do cook with oil or butter. It's tasty, but just an FYI if you don't like that. If you want the traditional going out for breakfast experience then Dempsey's is your place. I ordered half order of french toast and a spanish omelette with steak that couldve fed two ppl but i was so hungry. Came with buttered wheat toast and home fries. Bill came up to $27.60 & i forgot to mentiom i got two scrambled eggs bacon home fries and toast for my almost 4 yr old but the portion was big so she only took a couple bites. Topped it off with a small orange juice and a small apple juice for my daughter. I also wished they werent so cheap on the salsa. What wouldve made it much better is if i had sum hot tabasco sauce or hot salsa. Went to dempseys today for breakfast horrible experience waited 45 minutes for our food my friend went counter and ask how much longer and the rude waitress said it just went on the grille and he looked at the grille our food wasn't even on it ! 4 other tables got their food before us and came in after us.
