Chocolate cookie and ice cream
David L.

Love local places like this that are "into" the food. We started with the New Jersey Salad which was a nice salad. Wouldn't say it was world changing but this is not a salad restaurant. The Pizza was excellent. We had a conversation with the pizza crew who explained how they use local flour to ensure the freshest tasting dough (this is often overlooked). No tip sag, the right level of crispiness. For those that think the pizza is burnt when there is any black on the crust, should stay away from quality places like this. Dessert was their chocolate chip cookie and house made vanilla ice cream. Though they can serve them ala mode, I think it's better separately as the ice cream won't melt on the warm cookie. Service was relaxed which is the general vibe of the restaurant. They were there when we needed them but we never felt that they were trying to speed us through the meal.

Sausage with leeks

Overall this spot was good and the spot is super cute and the decor here is really fun and service is nice. I thought the marg was just okay and I just thought the flavors didn't hit and weren't fresh and overall was just disappointed in it. The sausage and the leeks however was pretty good! I liked the elote and the meatballs were alright as well, i did like how the corn came with gloves. Overall this spot was good, but I wouldn't go out of my way to come back here and I think there are better spots for pizza in Seattle and this is a 3.5 for me but will round up

Sausage pizza with al pastor mushrooms

This place came highly recommended but was unfortunately a let down especially at the price point. Servers were nice. We ordered a sausage pizza and added hot honey and al pastor style mushrooms. When our pizza came out, there was no hot honey on it, or if it was there we couldn't taste it. We let them know we couldn't taste it and they brought us out a side of hot honey and it seems they didn't add it on after all. The crust was too burned for me and the cheese wasn't distributed well. Paid over $50 and felt disappointed.

I've been on a mission to find my favorite pizza in Seattle, and this was the second-to-last spot on my list. Overall, I really enjoyed the pizza. The crust had a great texture, the ingredients tasted fresh, and the overall flavor was excellent. The restaurant also has a cute, welcoming atmosphere. Unfortunately, the service experience left me disappointed. Since I was dining alone, I ordered my meal to go, assuming I'd save a bit compared to dining in. When I went to pay, I realized a full 20% gratuity had already been added. I typically tip anyway, so it wasn't the amount itself that bothered me, it was that I wasn't expecting it for a takeout order. What made the experience more confusing was that when I asked for a water to go, I was told that wasn't available and was instead offered paid beverages. It left me feeling like I would have been better off dining in from the start, since the cost ended up being essentially the same while the experience felt less accommodating. The pizza itself was very good, and I can absolutely see why people enjoy this place. For me, though, the overall experience didn't quite match the quality of the food, so I don't see myself returning.

I can finally check off dining at DELANCEY and reading the book, which I am able to confidently recommend both now. I found both experiences to be effortless, comforting, and a joy. I feel that reading the book enhanced my dining experience because of the inside knowledge of how the restaurant, which is about 10 years old now, came to be. Just like the author of the book, I am a fan of the movie "Singles" and its stellar movie soundtrack. I was nervous that we would have to wait in line a long time to get a table on a Friday night. However, last night turned out to be a positive night all around. Delancey doesn't have a parking lot, but we lucked out and got street parking right out front. Also, we got there a few minutes after opening and we only had to wait in line about 10 minutes. Another plus is that our server was super helpful and friendly. Our food and drinks came out fairly quickly and steadily and everything tasted fresh and delicious. Be advised that there is already a 20% service charge added to the bill so no need to tip more unless you want to. I love this smaller and quieter commercial area of Ballard and look forward to dining at Delancey again soon. Read the book, eat at the restaurant, and while you're here, check out the other neighboring businesses around here, too.

Brooklyn with ramps (seasonal ingredient)
Katy H.

Y'all. Do not delay. Get to Delancey before I eat them out of their stock. THE PIZZA. The cheese on the Brooklyn is the best cheese I've ever had on a pizza. Add in the freshly sauteed ramps and I've developed an obsession. The white pizza was so a particular stand out thanks to the velvety ricotta. THE EXTRAS. The small salad was perfect for two people to split - fresh and tasty. The cookie for dessert was warmed and exactly what you'd want. Pro Tip: Ask for a side of creamy Italian dressing to dip the crust in. LOGISTICS. We were quoted an hour to an hour and a half wait when arriving which turned out to be 30 minutes and we got a text when ready. We also had no problem finding street parking in the neighborhood.

Jersey Salad

The food and service is exceptional! The wait is absolutely worth it. Delancey has been our on list for a while, especially after our great experience at Goldie's at The Roost last summer. We started with the meatballs which were so flavorful and the sauce is incredible. We saved the leftover sauce to dunk our pizza crust in later. The Jersey salad is exceptional. Pilled high with fresh lettuce, crunchy croutons and a delicious dressing. The burrata with pesto was a fan favorite. Then the main course of pizzas were fantastic. We had the white pie, we added fennel sausage, and the hot salami pizza. The crust is fantastic and every bite was delicious. We finished the night with their special chocolate ganache and hazelnut ice cream. It was a great treat and a wonderful evening. I can't wait to visit Delancey again!

Bacon and Onion pizza w/roasted pineapple added

Friendly service, tasty food, and cozy ambiance! Delancey serves up excellent wood fired pies (plus some delicious specials) that taste like they were made with love. We loved the appetizers we tried; the meatballs were well seasoned and served with their delicious red sauce, while the pear and raddichio salad provided crispy and refreshing contrast. The pizzas also lived up to the hype. Lots of sauce with a good balance of cheese and toppings so you can still handle the slices without pesky structural collapse. Only minor complaint is that the crust gets pretty burnt on the edges so crust lovers may want to steer clear. Desserts were excellent, and we particularly enjoyed the homemade vanilla ice cream, which came chock full of what looked like real vanilla bean. Delancey does basics and they do them well - easy 5/5. Note that parking can be difficult on Fridays/weekends and lines form right at opening!

Jennifer K.

Great pizza, salad, wine, service and ambiance! Their dough cools a bit quick and loses the chewiness and the pizzas themselves are pretty straight forward and less in the experimental side but it was an absolute delight dining here and i would come back anytime.

Meatballs
Crystal H.

Simply great pizza, you can tell the ingredients are high quality and you can taste the wood fire. The meatballs were surprisingly good too. I don't really like meatballs since I tend to find them dry, but these were soft and juicy, and the sauce has a hint of sweetness--it was perfect. I loved how the mushroom pizza is topped full of mushrooms. The wait is rather long-- it took us about 90 mins to get seated and we arrived there around 5:30pm. Luckily there's a bar across the street so we hung out there. It's worth the wait for a special event like an anniversary, so I typically wouldn't have waited that long. Reservations are only for large parties.

went on an unusually quiet Friday night thanks to Halloween and were able to get seated immediately. our server was super friendly and gave some great recommendations. the burrata with pesto was INCREDIBLE. one of my favorite burratas I have tried in the city. we also got the Brooklyn pizza and added peppers and grilled pineapple and it was stellar. nice selection of NA beverage offerings too. loved the moodier ambiance and the open pizza oven up front.

They call it a "margarita pizza", but in my opinion, it was tomato soup on an burnt pizza dough

Stumbletown is a true carnivorous dream dining experience. Let's start with the menu it's simple. Your choice is duck or steak with an option for sauce. Why complicate things Yelpers, this place is "THE KISS" method so don't try and overthink things cause the chef doesn't . In case you're wondering I ordered the steak with Chimichurri sauce and this was layered over a mound of some of the best fries I've consumed in ages. Note they cook the flesh with a SOUS VIDE machine slow and low to make the meat tender and juicy. My guess are the fries had to be double fried in duck fat judging by the crunchiness and flavor... Yes for $25 I was served a steak mound of flesh over fries and loved every bite. Flavor bomb alert is the combo of steak , fries and Chimichurri smothered over the top IS AWESOME. Its a heavenly marriage of flavors for those seeking a sensual flavor experience... Note the homemade chimichurri sauce was a game changer as its expansion of the flavors is beyond anything imaginable. I only wish they sold by the bottle for home use it was that flavorful. Ok, by now you're savoring my photos and maybe licking your phone and I understand why , so just image how I felt actually eating. For beverages it's water ( free & self serve ) or a full bar of intoxicants you can walk up and order.... Keep in mind Stumbletown is a waiter free environment which is AWESOME ! I'm so full yet I am planning my out next flesh dining experience.. You'll wanna dine in this true hidden gem located in Ballard however selfishly I hope it stays hidden. We ordered munchies and drinks while we waited for our table at Delancey. The bartender / server knew we would be headed to Delancey in 40 minutes or so, and handled things well accordingly. We got a plate of olives (tasty, great finger food) and drinks. The Yonder cider was good, not too sweet. The Martini was tasty. I had two quibbles: The first was with the pricing: the martini was charged as two separate items: 1) gin (I suppose the charge varies by the kind of gin or vodka in your martini) 2) martini (which is apparently the non-vodka or or non-gin part of your drink) While I'm sure this makes it easier to track for the bartender and inventory, as well as for charging, as a customer, it's a little odd to have a mixed drink be a two-part charge. The second was the included 20% automatic gratuity. I don't object to the concept of a standard service charge, I just wish it had been more prominently displayed so that I wouldn't have added a 20% tip on top of that (and my tip was on the amount that included tax, service charge and drinks / food). So, buyer beware ... the service is good, the ambiance is nice, the food and drinks are good -- but the payment / billing is non-standard, and can cause unexpected surprises.

I am showing my age by saying the restaurant is VERY LOUD, and our table was in a very dark spot in the restaurant. Oddly, they didn't have enough table lamps for all the dark tables. Our server said they "ran out". How does that happen? I stalked a departing table to take their rechargeable lamp. Anyway, my expectations were likely too high going in, and I was annoyed before even ordering, turning on our cellphone light to read the menu. The food is pretty good, though not mind-blowing good like the reviews suggest, and we had one bad dish. They offer varied Khmer dishes beyond noodle varieties, which is a plus. Go if you are looking for variety, skip the fish, bring ear plugs, and hope you have a brighter table than ours. Parking is street only. 3 Stars for the food, minus 1 star for the restaurant environment (unrelated to staff) The Food: k'tiss dip with crudités, $18 - 4 Stars We chose the marrow stone blue oyster mushroom option - p'set. The mushrooms are sautéed in Khmer seasonings, fermented bean curd, and coconut milk. The veggies are mildly pickled. They paired surprisingly well and a unique dish to try. kroeung kumeraage, $15 - 4 Stars This dish has an option of fried chicken or fried mushrooms. We chose the chicken since we already had mushrooms. Kroeung is the Khmer seasoning. Our server said this dish and papaya salad are amongst the most popular. Since we have a veggie dish, we chose this over the papaya salad (which looks great, too). The chicken is lightly fried, not crispy outside, super tender, and paired well with the kroeung aioli. trei chmouy tuk tei omperi, $40 - 1 Star The menu says serves 2 but not really. The is a pan seared fish, make your own fish wrap. We did not know we ordered a DIY dish, which is ok in principle, just not good to be surprised. The menu doesn't say so; the server didn't mention it. Luckily, by this time of the meal, we have acquired the little table lamp, which enabled me to see the long fish bones that had not been removed. FIVE of them. The noodles are a pathetic overcooked limp pile. The best part is the turmeric sauce. Do not order this dish. Epilogue: I happened to walk by Sophon this past weekend. I was surprised to see a sign saying they are temporarily closed to resolve internal issues. (See photo) That is never a good reflection of management. There is now a GoFundMe for the unpaid staff who had to quit their jobs.
