This location is very clean and it feels like they're taking ample precautions for COVID, even now when a lot of places have relaxed their standards. All of the ladies are nice and welcoming, and the ambiance is relaxing. I came here for my first set of lashes ever, and I had a great experience during the service. The lash artist took her time to explain everything and was very kind. Unfortunately, I had a terrible reaction the morning after the service and most of my lashes fell out within 3 days (right before my wedding). I did not ask them to fix my lashes because I was terrified that it would make the reaction worse. Regardless, I am vain and I loved the look of lash extensions so I thought id give it one more chance and go to someone new. I'm so happy I gave it another shot. I've been going to Caitlin and she is awesome. I haven't had an adverse reaction since and my lashes always look great and last at least 2 weeks until I come in for my fill. Other then the often turn around of wonderful Lash technicians, which eventually closed its doors. I had no complaints. I have been getting lashes for 10 years. I hate leaving negative reviews but I'm concerned about others who may patronize DEKA lash. I got the glamorous lash extensions. The ease of appointment was great. Jennifer was my technician. She's a sweetie. Allowed me to get up and go to the bathroom twice. This star is for her. Plus- large stable bed to lay in which is nice if your plus size. Fan on toward your feet so you don't get too hot. COVID precautions were taken so I felt safe. Free ample parking. Cons- Tons of selling memberships and products. Must have credit card on file. Sketchy guy begging for money outside when I left my appointment (8 pm) which impacted my experience. I have been getting my lashes done for years now, and have tried tons of different places but I have been to Deka Lash 2x before. The first time, the service was okay, the lash techs were kind, but the lash extensions were very natural looking, and not as full as I would have liked. They suggested I do volume lashes next time, which is what I did the second time I came. Volume lashes cost significantly more, but I wanted a full look so I paid. The "volume lash" full set was finished in less than an hour, when all other full sets I have gotten have taken at least an hour an a half. She showed me my lashes and I explained I was disappointed in the way they looked, they weren't full at all. She said to me "You aren't going to get a full look here". Then why would they offer volume lashes for a fuller look? I asked her to put more and she said that's the fullest we can do. As you can see from the picture taken right after, the lash job was horrible. There are tons of lashes with no extensions on them. Was VERY hesitant to make an appointment (and get lash extensions in general--first timer here) mostly because there weren't many reviews and/or the reviews that were on yelp seemed biased. Made one anyway because the staff I spoke with seemed very knowledgeable. Upon entering, the staff was very kind and friendly and the space is very clean. My technician Dana was very friendly, informative and wasn't annoyed by my neurotic first-timer questioning. She made sure she knew the style I was going for, made sure I was comfortable then went to work. Not sure if it was because it was my first time or an allergy, but I did have some itchiness when she started. She was such a pro when handling the situation--turns out my eyes are just SUPER sensitive to the fumes. I give her so much credit for being able to evaluate and assess the problem, showing she really knows what she's doing. Embarrassingly, I was so comfortable I fell asleep, but just speaks to how great they are. I took my daughter to the Montclair location to get her lashes done for her Sweet 16. The lash tech was extremely nice and professional but when my daughter woke up the next day (Day of her party) there were lashes all over her pillowcase. There were now gaps in the lashes. Next thing you know my daughter has itchy bumps all around her eyes followed by swelling and one of her eyes swollen half shut. ER Dr said it's an allergic reaction to the lashes/glue. he is only 16 and her spring break was ruined. I should have read the reviews first. After all of the trauma, I am now seeing that this is the standard here. Now I am being told that I have to take her back today to have them removed because she won't be able to fight the reaction as long as they are still on even if hanging by a thread. I recently came to Deka Lash to get eyelash extensions. I chose the classics lashes for a natural look and after 2 days my lashes are almost all gone. I went NYE 12/31 in the afternoon and today 1/3 my lashes on my right eye are almost completely gone. Having had my lashes done numerous times in NYC, I have never had so many lashes fall off in such short amount of time. Especially being extremely cautious and careful with not letting them get wet within 48hrs. I will definitely request a refund and go somewhere else for future. read more

This has to be like the best Lash studio that I have ever patroned! I have been to places in fort lee , Edgewater and even nyc and I would leave satisfied but not wowed. Deka Lash has the highest quality lashes and glue because I have never had this little lash fall out with any other place . This location does shoddy work. They have bottom of the barrel technicians. Just because you're certified, doesn't mean you do good work. My experience was with Michelle, and it was like my 7 year grand daughter did the install. I asked for a set if natural lashes. She glued my right eye together, my eye was red and burning. They refused to make it right, I had to travel for the holiday. Called them when I came back, they had Corporate call to tell me they would not correct the work. I am beyond upset and disappointed with this business. I came here for my first time late Friday night for a true express full set, Emily was fantastic but the next day my lashes began to fall out in chunks: I never wet my face or my eyes and havent touched the lashes. I called the next day to have them "fixed" per there policy of a 5 day fix period if something happens to them. I was told they are booked up for the next 5 days, NOT ALLOWING ME TO HAVE THEM FIXED! I leave for vacation this week which is why I got them done in the first place!! I asked if I can go to another location and was told NO?!?! What kind of policy is this ???? I spent 100$ on my lashes - tipped 30$ and spent another 45$ on products THAT I HAVENT EVEN OPENED YET and I can't have my lashes fixed as I'm promised a 5 day fix grace period because the salon is "booked" !? and the manager of the salon won't allow me to get them fixed when I return from vacation either - they offered me 20$ off my refill ... which is 80$!!! I had the absolute best experiences at Deka Lash! I was warmly greeted by Chelsea who then helped me through the process of which lashes would be best for me. I was nervous about the extensions looking too fake and she assured me I could still have a natural look. Chelsea then talked me through every step, I was so relaxed I almost fell asleep! I read the terrible reviews after I purchased a Groupon for a full set of lashes. I almost forfeited the Groupon but decided to give them a try anyway. The salon is very modern and clean. Super friendly and competent. Lashes looked great on one day and then they started to fall off on day 2 and completely gone by day 4. I've had lashes several times and this has never happened. Let me start by saying I am not giving one star because I received bad services, this rating is strictly directed toward ownership. I had great experiences with both Nyesha and Dulce (both no longer with the company). Upon signing up for my membership, I was informed by their front desk person that there was no extended commitment upon signing up for the membership. I was told I could cancel at any time and would not be charged any additional fees. That in fact is not true. When you cancel your membership, you are charged for an additional 30 days of service. Lesson learned. Read through the contract thoroughly and do not listen to poorly trained reception staff. My reasons for cancelling my membership are as follows: 1. One of my appointments was cancelled due to my tech's family emergency. I was already en route to my appointment and was not offered any concession by the owner (her husband) for the inconvenience. Just a courtesy phone call and "feel free to book with us again at a time that works for you". Well guess what? The time I booked is the time that worked for me. I understand that things happen, but it should not be at the penalty of the client. 2. Both techs that I felt comfortable with and had history with no longer work at the salon. 3. I called the salon and asked that the owner call me directly to discuss my issues and have yet to receive any phone calls in return (over a week). I understand that this may be an industry with high turnover, but the client should be notified when a tech they've consistently been seeing no longer works for the company. And if that cannot be done, the owner needs to understand and be accommodating to someone's decision to cancel their membership upon learning that their tech is no longer with the company. After requesting that I not be charged for the additional month because I am not going to use the service as of my last appointment, October 13th ($130 on top of the current month's $130 fee, $260 in total), I received a phone call from the call center stating that they would not grant my request. From there, I asked for the owner to call me directly. She still has not called me. If you're not going to refund me or terminate my membership as of the requested termination date with no further services, at least put forth the energy to advocate for your other techs. Recommend your "master" tech or someone you know to have great experience. But I guess you can't do that because the only techs left at Deka are inexperienced, newbies just getting their foot in the door (yes, I know this for a fact). In all honesty, spare yourself the commitment of the membership. There are PLENTY of other lash salons in the area with more experience, transparency, and most importantly TRUE customer service and HOSPITALITY. Last place you should be committing yourself and your health to is a money hungry, trying to keep the lights on, dishonest lash salon. read more

So disappointed. I came into the shop completely ready to sign up for a membership. After my 2hr appt I was told that she couldn't get all of my lashes because she had an appt right after me. I felt kinda rushed. She didn't really pitch a membership either. I left and on the car ride home I could feel a couple of lashes falling onto my cheek. The next morning I had hardly any lashes on my left eye. I didn't wet them at all, nor did I tug them. They were falling out left and right that I didn't even bother using the cleanser I purchased. I called and was told I could come in for a fix with a different girl. My new lash tech said she couldn't believe that I just got my lashes done she also said it looked like I had them done 3 weeks ago. She was great. She completely re did my left eye and filled in a couple on my right. I didn't sign up for a membership after that visit because I wanted to make sure that they would stick this time. 2 days later I noticed none had fallen off from my left eye but unfortunately my right eye is almost off completely being that most of them were put on by the 1st girl. I'm giving this place two stars because I really like the staff but my lashes had a life span of only 3 days average before crazy shedding happened. The ladies there are very kind and welcoming. My issue with Deka lash in Montclair is how long the lashes last. I got my lashes done and the next day I was losing several lashes. Mainly on one eye. I called to ask about it and I was told it's normal for 2-3 lashes to fall out per day, but I could come in to get it fixed. The lashes I got were in strips of 3, so 2-3 lashes a day means 6 "lashes" all together and that was already leaving me bald. I went to get them fixed at no charge and they came out beautifully, but 2 days later, my lashes were shedding badly again. I did not wet them for 72 hours even though the recommended is 48 hrs. I avoided rubbing them and even slept on my back so that my face wouldn't rub against my pillow. Again, this is not a review on the ladies or customer service. For almost $100, I would have loved if my lashes lasted more than 2 days. Maybe it's the glue that isn't that good. My mom tried this place a while ago and she warned me about the shedding, but I wanted to try it for myself. It was honestly a waste of money. read more

We had to take her to the emergency room it was terrible and i just wanted to share this because my sister honestly went through the worse experience here .
