    Curried chicken salad sandwich

Support the students & enjoy great food. You can see the kitchen from the restaurant & watch your food getting prepared. The curried chicken was spiced just right, the hint of curry & other spices with crispy fries also not greasy.

The atmosphere was very nice for a date night with my wife. We enjoyed the service and the food.

Since this was a Tuesday and restaurant week we decided to try to see if it's worth visiting again. They did not disappoint. The atmosphere is sober and inviting. There are tables and booths. It's a very clean place and you able to see in the kitchen to watch them cook. Over all neat places to be. I would recommend this place for dinner.

After scoping out my open house location (shoutout to Neighborhood Launch!) & getting coffee at Roosevelts, I found myself with extra time on my 'meter' so I found my way over to Degrees for lunch. Overall the food and service were excellent! Tomato basil soup - robust with a complex depth of flavors. Puréed but still has a bit of texture/mouth feel to it. Really well done soup. Shrimp bahn mi - bread was pillowy soft. Shrimp was adequate & the jalapeños weren't overwhelmingly hot for my spicy averse palette. Service was excellent & you can pay right at the table. I really had no complaints. You can't tell that it's a school.

I've been here a few times for lunch and every meal has been great! It's very well ran to be a culinary school restaurant. Very impressed by the food and students.

Located in Mitchell Hall on the Columbus State campus, sits a full service restaurant operated by culinary students and the culinary school supervisory staff. The menu, staff, and cordialness all have a clear influence from their patron Cameron Mitchell. Thats a good thing! It was an unbusy Tuesday night. Classes are on low level summer status so their hours are a bit short. Students cover all positions in the restaurant so there are less to go around to fill all. Great environment in the restaurant and the building in general. Walk around and see the Class A facilities the school has to turn out skilled restaurant positions of all type. On top of all that, the menu and food prep in the restaurant is top notch. Simple menu done well. Check it out online. We had the soup of the day, burger, fish chips, and key lime desert. All were well prepared and tasty! Looking forward to future visits.

The food was delicious! The server was very attentive. The restaurant was very neat and clean. There are so many items I want to try on the menu. My husband and I had a cup of veggie soup, the cheddar biscuits, Cobb salad, and chocolate torte. I can't wait to come back!

    Creme brûlée with berries

Very good food! Doesn't seem like a typical college student-run restaurant. We went for Restaurant Week and I had the warm burrata, lobster linguine, and creme brûlée. Also enjoyed the fennel fever cocktail. The burrata was melted when it arrived, though I wouldn't say it was warm - more room temp. It was delicious though. Could have used a bit more honey as it was not noticeable at all. Delicious though. The lobster linguine had sizable chunks of lobster and there was plenty of it, along with veggies in a lovely cream sauce. And the creme brûlée with berries was delicious - a very small portion. The cocktail was very unusual with the fennel liquor being quite noticeable. It was tasty if you like fennel. I think the flavors balanced more as the drink warmed up. The service was polite and knowledgeable. Parking was a bit confusing. We didn't want to get a ticket for parking in a lot without a proper permit for the campus. But we lucked out and found a spot right on the street. It would be helpful if they posted signs showing where to park. I enjoyed supporting this local restaurant which trains the next generation of restaurant professionals. I deducted a star bc I thought it was a little pricey and while the service was very good, it was a little bit slow. I took it in stride, knowing that we were being served by students.

The vibe of the place is very fancy and comfortable! Service couldn't have been better! A server or bartender was checking up on us often! I ordered the Chicken Parm and it was delicious! The sauce had all the right seasoning. The chicken had a crunchy exterior with a tender interior! It's hard to find a place that can make a great chicken parm that's not soggy. Absolutely will be coming back here! I'm so happy I snapped a picture of this wonderful dish.

The food was great and the service was quick, the steak was cooked very well and the salmon with wasabi was amazing! The rice that came with the salmon was a bit bland. The mashed potatoes and vegetables that came with the steak were amazing the veal reduction complimented the dish very well! Value wise it was relatively what you would expect price wise $22 for the steak, and $20 for the salmon, $4 for the lavender Palmer.

I've heard good things about Degrees in it short time being open. This restaurant is run by the culinary students at Columbus State Community College, houses in the newly built Cameron Mitchell hall. Sleek, modern design; it's too bad that there's a fire station so close, kinda puts a damper on "romantic setting," though. The kitchen is open-view behind the large glass windows (I like this in the sense of hygiene consideration). The tables/seating area isn't huge, but there's a good mix of booths, tables, and a high-top communal table in the front of the room for bigger parties. Come nicer weather, the outdoor patio will quite nice; it's actually a decent sized space. I like how, first and foremost, before taking orders, the wait staff asks if you have any dietary restrictions they should be aware of; second question: any questions about the menu. The menu is not huge - a personal plus, and touches on a good selection. I chose to try the House-Cured Samon starter. It was amazing, completely wowed me! They gladly switched out sourdough for the suggested rye, which was lightly toasted; it was the perfect vessel to transport the food to my mouth. The egg salad was so spot-on, imo, I'm kicking myself I didn't begged for the recipe. It didn't have all kinds of add-ins or seasoning to drown the eggy flavor. It was super creamy, kinda my kryptonite! The smoked salmon was also incredible! Not overly salted. The pickled onions atop was icing on the cake. It is somewhat of a bummer that this student-run eatery is not open on the weekends, holidays, semester breaks, as a certain group of demographics is not being reached, but being open at all is a bonus in itself. The buildings full of white walls and windows, making it perfect to improve your mood; nicely laid out, for sure. Most assuredly I'll be heading back here! PS, road construction on Cleveland Ave. is somewhat of a pain right now, but there are open parking lots within a short stroll, so free parking is available.

It's a shame. There were only 6 people dining at the time of our 6:00p reservations. Folks you are missing out! We came to support our local culinary arts school, but we will be back for the EXCELLENT FOOD & SERVICE. Thai salad: skirt steak was tender and well seasoned cooked perfectly. Noodles, edamame, vegetable mix was creatively put together without trying hard. Vinaigrette did not over power. Fried fish & fingerling potatoes: crispy. Smashed fingerling potatoes cooked just right with a great taste of Rosemary. (Th potatoes were easily 5 stars) Even the fish remoulade made with lemon & dill was worth noting. When I write we ate every morsel of food on our plates, not exaggerating one bit. At that point it only made sense to try desserts too. ‿ Creme brulee and carrot cake. Better than most places and not skimpy on the serving size. Impressed with bar and table service. All eager to please and made our dining experience all that more enjoyable. Degrees is located in Mitchell Hall located on Columbus State campus. Don't let the traffic construction keep you away from supporting and enjoying Degrees. (Found free metered parking behind the bookstore across the street) Just know they are closed on Saturday and Sunday and there is no Happy Hour.

Their visual chart is a…read moregodsend for cocktail explorers, and all of the drinks came out delicious and exactly as described. It's so creative, and the drinks are really the stellar stand out here. However, the atmosphere of those drinks is what gives me pause when thinking about coming back. The limited table situation, tiny cramped space, and loud music means that it doesn't feel particularly relaxing. People are constantly brushing up against you (even at 5PM), and holding a conversation at a normal distance is nearly impossible. NOTE: This place is covered in dust. No shade to the ownership as it doesn't appear to be anywhere near food prep areas (it's on the decor, on/around shelving, all over the faux plants, etc.), but if you're someone who's sensitive to dust, this is probably not a good fit. PROS: -I loooooooove how they've done their drink menu. As someone who is still exploring the potential of cocktails, their nerdy "chart" that places all of their drinks on a sweet/bitter and alcohol-forward/approachable visual chart is SUCH a help. As such, everything I ordered was absolutely amazing for me. I knew exactly what to expect from a drink because of its position on the chart, and it delivered. -Their drinks are really unique. Aqua faba? Fat washed alcohols? Lollipops or toasted marshmallows as garnishes? Super cool. Don't let some of the weirder descriptions creep you out of trying them. -All of their drinks were delicious. Everything I ordered was exactly as described. I often go places where the taste is barely related to its namesake, but they were entirely on-point here. CONS: -I'm not sure if someone called off that night as other reviewers are in love with the service, but our service was really really slow. No real rapport with the staff; just stating the name of a drink as they rushed past and then they were off to try to clean a table or take someone else's order. The drinks they made were great, but this isn't somewhere we'd go if we were in a hurry. -The pictures do not accurately convey how small this place is. Like, it's small. I'd guess less than 1000 square feet. My apartment is bigger by a lot. This isn't necessarily an issue, but it means people pile up quickly as they wait for seating (there's like 4/5 tables and then bar seating). The human walkways are small enough that the bartenders and other guests will brush against you a lot - even while seated. -I get the vibe they were going for here, but with the smaller space, I think a lot of the potential decor options had to "go" in order to fit more humans. It's giving me hardcore The Hearth Room (in Cincinnati) vibes, and I think it could honestly pull it off if it simply had more space. The "relaxed, sophisticated bourbon bar" doesn't quite come through as well when things are so focused on simply fitting in more bodies. -It's loud AF. Like, really, really loud. Between all the people and the blasting pop music, it required leaning into someone's ear in order to speak at normal volumes. We'd regularly have to pause the conversation if something in the music was building to a drop. This is not a place I'd take someone I wasn't very very comfortable with because it really requires being in someone's space to talk. -There's a single all-gender toilet here for everyone in the establishment. It's basically a revolving door of people in and out of it. The door auto-closes, however, so it's really difficult to figure out if it's open or not. There was usually a queue of people waiting in front of the door.

My Husband and I randomly stumbled upon this place walking to Chapman's one night after we were JUST talking to a buddy about how Columbus didn't have any "great" Wine Bars. You can sit at a high top table, blue velvet couches for a more laid back option or the bar if you come alone or with a friend! The second best part about this place is you can order of a menu of curated pre picked wines and crafted cocktails or pop into the wine shop connected to it called Hausfrau Haven. You can buy a bottle there and open at The Laundry and split it with friends or your partner which I LOVE! You could even do your own little wine tasting too if you'd like! Cocktail vibe is more "laid-back friends talking over creative drinks" than sultry, romantic date spot. Tons of natural light means this cocktail bar has had some of my *favorite* cocktail bar photos I've ever taken. It's so pretty in here. NOTES: -During pop-ups, walk-ins are near-impossible on weekends and not likely on weekdays. Make a reservation if you want to make sure you'll have a spot. -No dedicated parking lot. 3-hour-limit free residential parking all around Law Bird, though. We generally have to walk 2 or 3 blocks from parking to Law Bird. Be aware this is German Village, and you're looking at cobblestone sidewalks for high heel and accessibility purposes. -Law Bird mostly has small party seating. If you have a larger group you want to seat during a pop-up, make SURE to get that reservation in early. They have the single 8-person table. -They have snackies and food. Portion sizes are small (despite what the prices may suggest), though, so this is not generally a place to eat a full meal. All of the food is super flavorful, though, so definitely a great snack to add on. PROS: -Keeping things fresh, they regularly host cute seasonal events, new drinks, and pop-up events. In recent memory, I know they've done a Cherry Blossom one, a Spooky Halloween one, and a Christmas one. -They go ALL OUT for their pop-ups. It isn't just a brand new, professionally-printed menu (no pieces of paper with 4 seasonal drinks here). It's also all of their interior decor, bathroom decorations, bartop decorations, and more. Ceiling decor too! They get all up in there. It's really fun to see the space transformed constantly. -Between the new menus and the constantly-new decorations of their space, I love regularly popping into Law Bird. -I LOVE the creativity of the menus, and I LOVE that they offer cocktail classes. (I haven't taken one yet, but I'm excited to!) The menu has unique drinks, served with unique garnishes. They have a few "sugar cocktails", but for the most part, Law Bird drinks tend to be complex and spirit-forward. -Their "themed" bathrooms (even with their own themed music playlists) make me happy. They have two unisex, single room restrooms. CONS: -If you come during a pop-up with a smaller group, they will enforce their reservation time limit of 1.5 hours. This isn't necessarily the end of the world, but the times when they enforce their limits is when they have more customers waiting - and tend to be when the place is at capacity. When they're at-capacity, the bar staff and service staff is a lot busier, with drink service taking longer and servers checking in a lot less. This means we usually only have had the chance to place 2 drink orders during that 1.5 hour time limit before they ask us to leave. This can be rough (to try most of the drinks on a limited time menu) unless you're sharing drinks with your tablemates. If you still want to continue your evening with your friends after that 1.5 hour limit, Antiques on High, Daily Growler, and Cobra are easily walkable from here. -During their pop-ups on weekends, time between placing a drink order and receiving the drink has usually been around 15 to 20 minutes. Not the end of the world as you get to socialize with friends, but again, with the time limit, that can be a bit rough.

That being said, upon opening the door we were told we couldn't come in without masks. Mine was in my pocket, no problem. I haven't left my home (in Tennessee) often enough since the beginning of the virus for it to become habit to automatically put on a mask when I get out of my vehicle. But 9/10 times I remember before entering a public place. The male bartender just seemed rude in the way he told us to put one one. I had read the raving reviews, and being a Yelp Elite myself I know I can and do trust their reviews above others. So....I was really looking forward to trying something new and enjoy watching a bartender do their thing. The bartender pointed to two framed menus on top of a cooler containing seltzer's and canned drinks, and some glass bottles of pre-made cocktails, I think. I would've appreciated the bartender ask me what I liked, and help me decide, but it was easier for him to point to the sign. Customer service absolutely sucked hippo balls. I asked if I could just order a Knob Creek and Coke in a short glass, and a Blanton's for my hubs. Sure!! What I got was a shot of each in a to-go plastic condiment container with a lid, and two big paper go cups (like Burger King) of ice, and a can of Coke, which I told him never mind I had a soda in the truck. We also got two bags of Cheeto's, to make the sale legal. So....we poured our bourbons over the ice in the paper cups. I drank a few sips of mine, yum, even in paper. My husband was just about to take a sip and noticed something stuck in his ice that looked just like a maggot. He walked back across the street and told/showed the bartender, who vehemently denied it came from the ice because it was a brand new bag. Then I noticed 3 of the maggot looking things in my ice, so I went back in and showed my husband and then the bartender. He told my husband it was probably from the citrus he was cutting on a board near the ice bin. They were frozen INSIDE the ice cubes. I'm upset with myself that I didn't take a picture of it, it was gross. I'm upset that a bartender would try to make it seem like it was nothing. After seeing it all in my ice my husband just asked for our money back, and the bartender said, "But I've already poured another." Ummm, sorry, but no thank you. He did give the refund, but I most assuredly won't give them a second chance when I visit Columbus.
