I was blown away by my experience at Worthington Tavern last night! This was my first visit, and I will definitely be back. We had a 7:30 reservation and were seated on the front patio. There are three different areas to sit: the back patio, inside, or the front patio. All three areas are beautiful, and the overall atmosphere was such a chill vibe. Our waitress was a little slow, and it was sometimes difficult to get water refills, but it seemed like she was one of the only servers working, so I completely understood. My friend and I split everything we ordered. We started with the smoked chicken wings with blue cheese and celery. The wings were delicious, although the celery came in very small, thin pieces. I would have preferred actual celery sticks. We also ordered the Honey Brussels Sprouts, which were my favorite dish of the night. They were so good and definitely something I would order again. For pizza, we got the Caprese Pizza with homemade pizza sauce, fresh-sliced tomatoes, mozzarella, basil, and balsamic glaze. It was absolutely delicious and tasted very fresh. We made our reservation for 7:30 so we could stay and listen to the live acoustic guitar player at 9:30. That ended up being a little late for us, so we moved inside to watch him perform. It was a great way to end the night. Overall, I really enjoyed my first experience at Worthington Tavern. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was beautiful and relaxed, and it would be a great place to come with a group of friends. I will definitely be back! read more

What a great spot in the middle of downtown Worthington. We must have walked past this place a few times and never went in. Great looking bar but not too much room so get here early or make reservations. We stopped in for brunch on a Saturday and were able to get in with a quickly arranged reservation. We started with the blueberry coffee cake which was delicious. Half was enough for three people. I had the egg tacos and they were great. Be sure to add some of the spicy salsa if you like. Daughter went for the smash burger, excellent choice. I got the sneak in a bite and wasn't disappointed. My wife had the egg sandwich and only got half which was more than enough. Not sure someone could finish a whole one, it's pretty big. The staff was friendly and attentive and even switched us from a smaller table top to a booth since we were a bit cramped. Great food and service! And rather than Coke or Pepsi they have the excellent Buckeye Soda, which is a bonus. We tried all of the specials the night we were there, and we hope that the Mexican pizza makes it onto the permanent menu - it's the grownup version of the old school fiestada but with good ingredients. There is frequent confusion with the Worthington Inn, which recently reopened a few doors down, so if you're meeting people make sure everyone is clear on which one you're going to. read more

My sisters and I get together every year to do something after Christmas. This year, we went to see a movie and went to dinner. We chose the Worthington Tavern for dinner. Parking was easy since there is a free lot out back and there is a decent amount of street parking nearby. We got there during the hour between lunch and dinner where they are flipping the restaurant for the next meal. The server asked us if we would still like to come in and get some drinks and hang out until food was ready. We decided it was worth the wait. Our server was incredibly kind and attentive. She even brought me a bag of ice for the milk I had to pump during the meal. We ordered some drinks and talked for a little while and she came back promptly at four to take our food orders. I ordered the seasonal salad, which had an incredible house made peppercorn vinaigrette, Delicata, squash, mixed greens, blueberries, walnuts, and a few other things. I also got a side of beer battered fries with Housemade ranch. Everything I got was five stars. I will honestly be dreaming about that salad and wish they sold the salad dressing by the bottle. I kind of regret not asking for something to go. My sisters enjoyed spinach artichoke dip, a burger, a pizza, the salmon dish, the hot honey brussels sprouts, the nonalcoholic wine, a strawberry lemonade, and a cocktail. The prices were pretty good, especially given the quality of food. The restaurant got pretty busy throughout the night, so it seems as though it is a fan favorite in the area. However, it never got too loud and there seemed to be enough seating that people didn't have to wait. It was a decent size dining room and they had a covered patio out back. Parking was a bit hard to find on a Sunny Saturday lunch hour. I parked on a side street two blocks away after circling the free parking area behind the place a few times. The place was dim and loud with music and people talking. They had to talk a bit louder to hear each other over the music. The ambience was trendy with cute moody decor blending the masculine dark walls with a touch of fake plants in the bank. We sat towards the back. The tables were very close together but we were comfortable. I ordered a Mimosa and added the Ketel One Cucumber Mint. It was very refreshing. I had the 3/$12 oysters and the Seasonal salad add grilled chicken. It was all delicious and our waitress was great! She informed us that she was new but did such a great job. We had a reservation which probably was not necessary, given that it wasn't too full. We had the option to sit outside and we went with that. We met up with some friends who are regulars, so they were able to make recommendations. They stated you really couldn't go wrong with anything, and they were right! My wife and I split a salad and they prepared it split for us which was very nice. The pasta and pizza were delicious. We boxed some of the pizza, but it didn't last long as we were eating it when we popped into a nearby bar. Great food, great service, and great location. I ordered a Caesar salad with blackened salmon. The salmon was so heavily salted and seasoned that I hardly could eat it. It overpowered the taste of the rest of the salad. The lettuce was drenched in the Caesar dressing so much so that the lettuce was very saturated. I couldn't eat the salad and I just continued with my drink. It's unfortunate because I would've preferred a Caesar salad with blackened salmon from Rusty bucket over this place. I will go again and perhaps try something different. read more

It took us a while to get our checks. My friend got a mimosa and I got the Hot Toaddy. The menu said it had a definite kick, but I would say that is super false. It was still good, I just don't want anyone on the fence about the heat to not get it because of the warning. For my main, I got the chicken and waffles. I really wanted to like this and generally speaking I did, but the seasoning they used on the chicken just wasn't doing it for me. This is such a lovely little spot in downtown Worthington. With the weather being good we sat on the patio out front, but they have an even cute patio in the back and the inside is really cute too. This was super good and the drinks were all great too. For our meal my husband and I split the wedge (which did unfortunately come out at the same time as our dinner, but the waitress apologized.) and it was really tasty. We then split the pasta a la vodka with a meatball and wow was it good! Lastly, we got the flatbread special which was a Mediterranean chicken and it was super tasty too. Worthington Tavern is still a place I like to go, but service and food quality is not the same as it once was. (I debated giving 3 stars; really should be 3.5). The last two times I visited, once for brunch and once for dinner, service was friendly but slow and spotty (servers never coming back to check or refill water even after being asked; forgetting to bring one of our party's drinks until after entrees were already out), and the dishes seemed to have been thrown together with less care. The yogurt bowl I have loved on the brunch menu had sparse fruit toppings (not like the photo I posted last year), and at dinner my bang bang salmon bowl lacked flavor of the past and featured underwhelming, unseasoned steamed broccoli. I still love the space and ambiance and the cocktails are still great, but I am hoping that the quality of the experience overall remains high. read more

I hadn't eaten at Worthington Tavern since right after they first opened, and they seem to have found their footing. They converted the back patio into a lively enclosed space and expanded into an additional dining area for more seating. The hostess was very unpleasant, but our fantastic server made up for it. She was all smiles and good energy. We ordered from the Restaurant Week menu and the food was truly stellar. Everything we tried tasted incredible. The size of the entrees though.....we were laughing when they came out. The "bang bang salmon" had two little nuggets of salmon that looked like they were cut off the ends of an actual salmon filet. Short rib entree also had a very skimpy serving of meat. The food didn't even fill up the plates. I am not sure if that was just because of restaurant week pricing or that is the regular entree portion size they serve. The good news is the cocktails and desserts were so good, that we left full anyway! If you like chocolate, the oreo mud pie is a winner. read more

This is my go to place! They always have reservations available and have great food. Their signature cocktails always come with either a table side element or something fun/witty about them. My husband ordered the smoked old fashion and they light it and smoke it table side. My shake your tail feather rum punch drink they lit the lime and sprinkled it with cinnamon to make it sparkle table side, which I wasn't expecting! It also came in a cute peacock glass. The food is good, nothing spectacular, but no issues at all! Our wings did arrive with our food which is the first time something like that has happened. Things happen, I'm not worried about it. We had high hopes for this restaurant and made a reservation for a group of seven weeks in advance. When we arrived, we were surprised and frustrated to be told there were no inside tables available -- despite our reservation and the fact that it was in the high 90s with a weather advisory in effect. Our only option was to sit outside in extreme heat. Even after that, we had to wait 15 minutes to be seated. The hostess mentioned complimentary drinks to a couple of our guests for the inconvenience, but never followed through. The service only went downhill from there. Our server approached only two people at the end of the table to take drink orders and then walked away without asking the rest of us. We had to flag her down just to get drinks for the full table -- and after the initial glass, we never saw her again to request refills. In that kind of heat, it was unacceptable. It took 45 minutes to get our food, and only then did someone who wasn't even our server finally bring out water carafes. As someone who's worked in the service industry for years, I truly understand how tough things can get -- and I'm usually quick to empathize with the staff. But this wasn't about a busy night or short staffing. This was about a complete lack of customer service, accountability, and basic hospitality. Unfortunately, this was one of the worst dining experiences I've had -- not just due to the heat and delays, but because there was no ownership, communication, or care from the team. We stopped by the Worthington Tavern for dinner since they participated in the 614 burger and beer week. We were new to this tavern and the burger week pulled us in. We arrived at 7. We were sat pretty quickly. The dining room was pretty full. My first impression was "oooh this is cute! Hope we get a booth, they look comfy" Its softly dim lighting at this tavern, which creates a warm and cozy ambience. I would say this is a chic but casual tavern, jeans or nice shorts would completely be fine here. Lots of booths, a few high top cocktail tables that seat 3. More seating options are outside with tables in front of the restaurant and in the back patio. The inside is a tad loud but not overbearingly so, mainly due to its not very big. Speaking of the size, they do take reservations, which I would really recommend you take advantage of if you want to go during a busy time period. We came at 7... there was no issue not having a reservation. My husband ordered the 614 wolfs ridge lager and paired that with a 614 burger week smash burger and added a side salad. I ordered the iceberg salad with blackened shrimp. The lager was delicious and the burger week pricing dropped it to 3 bucks each (nice!). The 8 dollar burger week smash burger was huge. It came with Swiss, bacon, fried onion rings, lettuce, tomato and a house garlic sauce and was on a potato roll. I tasted that burger. I did not enjoy the potato roll. Really ANY other roll would of made this burger sing YUMMY. This bun made the burger just "meh". The side salad.... That was great. It weirdly was bigger than my salad. Speaking of my salad.... Oh, it pains me to say... what a sorry little mess that was. It came in a big white bowl and it looked so empty. What little lettuce they put in the bowl wasn't very crispy at all. The dressing was on the side so the salad greens shouldn't of been wet or appear slightly wilted (from being wet?) But I was starving so ate it. If the lettuce was drier and there was twice as much as arrived I would of given this salad high marks. The shrimp was blackened nicely. The cheese they used was delicious. Both shrimp and cheese had great flavor... but its friend, the lettuce-- well, it ruined that entree. Completely. Btw: I was still hungry and went home and ended up eating 3 oreos for my dinner as who wants to cook at 8pm. (They were amazing... red velvet, I highly recommend but not for a dinner) We told our server, Olivia, that we wanted to pass on commentary about the salad, not expecting or asking for a price adjustment. She insisted on comping the salad- which we were grateful about. All in all, Id say grading this tavern, the visit would be a C+ or B- mainly due to the salad issue and the weird potato bun (thats more a preference thing, the burger was still very good) ... That said, this is still cute and cozy tavern - worthy of a visit as they stand behind their food and made it (the salad) right, without us asking them to... plus it has a good menu selection, vegan options, great staff, a cozy vibe and a nice bar that offers fun, creative cocktails. read more
