First Friday of every month, they are open till 9:00 PM, and there is music out front with an excellent live Jazz ensemble. The baristas and the owners Soo and Terry are friendly and really make you feel welcome. And did I mention the coffee? It's heavenly. Their restroom is as clean as you would keep your own, and is well stocked with paper towels, toilet paper and soap. No other place in Long Beach comes close to the quality of Bixby Joes for coffee, food, staff, atmosphere, and camaraderie. If you're there at a more normal time for more normal coffee shop type products, though they are also great. The first time I was there, I didn't have any coffee drinks, but the second time, I felt like I could use the caffeine, tried their tiramisu latte, which I absolutely recommend. I also had a chocolate croissant with it, which I can also totally recommend. Maybe not as good as the best chocolate croissant I've ever had, but that was also in France. I really appreciated her looking out for me instead of just ringing up the more expensive modified drink. On top of that, I ordered a breakfast burrito and went out to my car to wait because it was pretty busy inside. When I came back, she was actually outside looking for me with my drink and burrito in her hands. That was such a thoughtful touch and definitely wasn't something she had to do. It's little things like that that make people want to come back. She was so kind, attentive, and genuinely went above and beyond. She even provided the receipt for me so I wouldn't forget what the name of this drink was with the cost! (Which she hand wrote) Customer service like that is hard to find these days, and she made my whole morning.
