Soooo, I've been dying to go here because...views. I love a good Mai Tai and a view but of course I came here at night so I was like Mai Tai? The hostess' were going to seat us "inside" but I wanted to take in the ambiance so I asked to sit at the fire pit. My friend and I got our drinks, a Mai Tai and a virgin drink for her highness. My Mai Tai was hitting some interesting spots but overall I loved it as it wasn't super sweet and it was a version all their own. Yum. We had menu's in our hands so we started looking at food though not our original intention. We were so undecided because there were a lot of good options. Ultimately we started with the Kampachi Sashimi; we got fat juicy cuts and the sauce was ono! I would have licked the plate but I'm a lady. For our mains, my friend ordered the Ahi Nicoise salad and I got the scallops and a brown rice on the side because I thought the corn salsa wouldn't be enough. My brown rice showed up a little late but my plate was delicious and filling and there was not a drip drop left. I never touched the rice when it arrived and I was not charged as it came late. I tried a forkful of my friends salad because I love some Hawaiian greens and the dressing was poppin! I let her have a teeny tiny bite of one of my scallops and then had to defend my plate. Our server Hayley(spelling?) was delightful and checked on us often. She had our food set up at a table so once it arrived we escaped the wind and left our trusty fire pit to eat a proper meal. I really really want to love it here. I've dined here like probably 10 times , a few times for Happy Hour, brunch then dinner. Happy hour prices are fair, but food is mediocre for price. I like their location, not many places with a view and rooftop. They could invest in a little more shade for tables, I was sweating the whole time I was there. However, service lacks EVERY-TIME. I feel like a little training could go a long way. read more

This place just opened in November. It's located at the newly renovated Queen Kapiolani hotel. The renovations are nice. There is outdoor seating and a semi indoor/outdoor bar. I like the decor and the view of Diamond Head is nice. We enjoyed the happy hour menu which is pretty good. Happy hour is till 6, and their Margherita pizza was half off at $6. It was a deal. We also got the guacamole, and my friend got Kobe sliders (sorry no picture). Wines were $8. The Pinot noir was very good. There is live music everyday. Overall, we had a good experience. Food was good, service was good, ambiance was good. We parked across the street for free parking after 6 pm. Parking in structure is validated, but you still need to pay $5. A few areas of improvement: Get the ADA access working. I had a baby in a stroller and the elevator to The Deck takes you to 3rd floor, but to get to The Deck, you have to go down stairs. No one helped me push my stroller down the stairs, and apparently, only a few workers have the key to the ADA access. Someone did help me get my stroller up the stairs. No one told us there was a happy hour menu, nor does the website indicate happy hour. I had to ask about it. It seems like they are trying to hide the fact that there is happy hour. Overall, I recommend that you check this place out. read more

Took the advice of a friend and headed here for lunch with the family while staying in Waikiki. What a treat!!! The food was so tasty. We shared the chicken wings and spicy poke for the table. I had the fish tacos, my husband had the burger. Everything was top notch! And then there was the cocktail program. Different from the traditional Mai Tai, their version is comprised of 3 types of rum, housemade oregeat (made with almonds and macadamia nuts), and lime. So light and refreshing! Greeters weren't the best, didn't feel welcomed. Not even a smile. Asked a server how big the açaí bowl is and he said he doesn't really know and that it's medium size, no hand gesture just said it's medium and it's good. What the heck is medium? I wouldn't have minded if he offered to go check or even guesstimate the size with his hands. The DJ was super loud, when asked to bring the volume down he lowered it maybe a decibel lower. Didn't let the good songs finish. Despite service, the food and drinks were great. The bartender was nice and went around asking about the food. Deck uses the tag team approach to serving tables. Might be the bartender, might be the high school aged food server, might be the waitress who clearly is in charge of a different section, or it could even be the owner who comes by to take your order and drop off your food. Jimi's ball and chain is a known commodity at this restaurant. Surprised they don't just go ahead and name the mai tai after her. 5 stars read more

My wife, a visiting female friend of ours and I went to the Deck last Sunday to celebrate my wife's birthday with a 1:00pm meal. We were greeted by a friendly hostess and seated at our table at about 1:03pm. The food was super and the atmosphere was perfect. The only hiccup was noticed on the bill charged one of us for two drinks instead of one. The server solved the problem easily. We couldn't have had a better dining experience than Deck. It was our first trip to Hawaii, and the way they take care of you here is one of the reasons I would stay in Waikiki again Taj was amazing every single time we are her( and we had vouchers so we are her a lot) She always treated us with kindness and always put us first. Yoshi was very thoughtful and excellent with service. And Brandon was outstanding in making sure our experiences were wonderful and memorable. They made us feel like we belonged in Hawaii . This was our first dinner stop here in Hawai'i during our visit and they set a pretty high bar for everywhere else we go. We ordered the Grilled Octopus, the Pupu Ribs and the Kauai Prawns. Everything was delicious and had great flavor! The Prawns were the best with the slightly spicy curry sauce and grilled eggplant. We went during happy hour and drinks were also half-off so we took full advantage of that and enjoyed many mai-tais with dinner. And the best part of all was the friendly and welcoming staff. Lopaka was truly the best, warm, and really fun, especially having the deal with our silliness!! He was great at making us feel so comfortable being able to just enjoy the good vibes (he also gave great recommendations for us to check out during our stay). First off this is a very pretty trendy restaurant in queen Kapiolani hotel. The view is nice and there's some really nice changes then how it used to be! Covid wise I wasn't impressed. They seemed to have a lot of people a little close and they didn't seem to control the amount of people on tables. Was very impressed with the decor and overall vibe! Brunch is very busy and popular! Happy hour too! Good place for a relaxing meal! Staff was nice, but probably short staffed. Things take a while but I wasn't in a rush! Unfortunately the food was mediocre. My burger was wayyyy over cooked. Didn't care for the jam on it. But it's my fault for not putting it on the side! I opted for the regular fries versus truffle. Decent but not hot. Salmon was not impressive although pretty! Shared desserts but nothing thrilling. Server made mistakes on our orders but we didn't complain. I'd go back for the view and happy hour! read more

Although my drink was very spirit forward, it still felt very well balanced. I appreciated the hint of smokiness from the mezcal that rounded out the end of a sip. Service here quick and friendly. When we received the check, a cute small chocolate snack was brought over as well, borrowed from the menu at Maze. Overall, I can see why Bar Leather Apron has earned so many accolades in its field. Definitely worth a stop by if you enjoy the art of mixology.

Deck by Diamond Head We went to a TERRIBLE restaurant named DECK BY DIAMOND HEAD in HONOLULU located at QUEEN KAPI'OLANI HOTEL at 150 Kapahulu Avenue on January 23, 2026.... So a Sunday evening around 730 pm on the 3rd floor of a hotel...... IT WAS NOT BUSY EITHER!!!!!! We get there to the restaurant and I have someone with a pretty bad disability........ we get up to the 3rd floor by elevator to the restaurant level when we get off the elevator, we discover that we now have to go down 6 stairs to now get into the restaurant.... I see this AWFUL HOSTESS named Madeleine..... we make eye contact and she just ignored me as I motioned to her that I need help with the escalating my disabled family meme bet and instead she helps a family of 4 people that came after us rather than help my disabled family member to use this escalator device that is suppose to help disabled people get into the restaurant.....so after waiting for a while, my family member decided to chance it and go down the stairs with a cane holding onto the rail while someone else brings down the walker...... this hostess refused to assist and just ignored the entire situation despite being just a few feet away............BUT THE STORY DOESN'T END THERE......... this horrible hostess sits us right in front of the dirty kitchen entrance ...... when I noticed that there were SEVERAL better tables off the DECK of the restaurant towards the front ...... 6 empty tables to be exact..... that's because I counted them......... I went up to this HORRIBLE HOSTESS named Maddy...... and asked if we could sit at a better table towards the front....... SHE SAID "NO AND THAT THEY WERE RESERVED TABLES"..........I began to question her...... I told her we called beforehand and it said "NO RESERVATIONS REQUIRED" ....... So when I brought that up to Maddy...... she said to me "WE TAKE RESERVATIONS ALL DAY......those tables are spoken for...... if you don't like it ........ you can leave" Well, I wasn't going to move my disabled family member again otherwise I would have just left but because it was such a huge ordeal for my family member to just to get into the restaurant as it was...... we decided to just suck it up and tried to look past it........ but we continued to watch........ well no one came into the restaurant to those empty "Reserved" tables...... MADDY HAD LIED and she even left at 821 pm ......we saw her gather her belongings and left....... Went we left at 845 pm there were more than 12 tables open.........PEOPLE NEVER SHOWED UP FIR THESE SO CALLED RESERVED TABLES!!!! Wee ordered our food...... just to get in and out..... our waiter "Lapocka "- Hawaiian for "Robert" though was nice ........ ALSO HE WAS ALSO A LIAR........ we wanted to speak to a manager about the hostess' poor treatment of MY disabled family member and for telling me "IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT.......YOU CAN GO ELSEWHERE!!!!!!" Well that did not sit well with me......you don't treat disabled people like that......... so after our meal..... we asked to speak to a manager about this...........BUT FOLKS .......IT GETS BETTER HERE.......... We asked to speak to manager TWICE and finally he came.......... This tall man named "Nicholas" comes over and he hears our complaints........and Robert our waiter was aware of this too..... BUT I NOTICED SOMETHING VERY STRANGE.......NICHOLAS "THE MANAGER" was clearing tables and emptying out bins..... well that didn't seem right....... So I went to another person in the restaurant to get the name of the manager on duty......... and you know what....... IT WAS A MAN NAMED "IAN"......... IAN did not want to come talk to us.........LMAO....... The manager DID NOT want to come and talk to us so he sent some random busboy/ kitchen hand to come and talk to us rather than hear this what happened firsthand......"WHAT A JOKE!!!!!".......SO NOT ONLY IS THE HOSTESS A SCUMBAG...... BUT THE WAITER LIED TO US, THE BUSBOY NICHOLAS AND MANAGER IAN all LIED as well!!!!!!!! ....... AS IT TIRNS OUT......... THEY ARE ALL SCUMBAGS........I told the waiter that I would writing a bad review about this....... And I also told the two Hotels that we were both staying at as well about our bad treatment of disabled people to the Hilton and Marriott hotels and that they should NOT BE referring any other guests there again to this restaurant anymore!!!!!!! I'm still VERY DISGUSTED by this....... I'm a registered nurse, my spouse is a doctor and my brother-in-law is a retired lawyer that suffered a bad stroke and is now disabled ........ and these disgusting humans just mistreated us all....... Wow, the service really sucked. We came here for brunch on a Sunday at 10a with a group of 8. It was NOT busy. It started off with the server Momo only taking part of our drink orders and walking away. She came back with drinks and walked away without getting everyone else's order which we thought was weird. When our other friends arrived she took only half of their orders and walked away again. I went to the bar to ask if I could put in more orders and she said okay. But why wouldn't you just take everyone's orders at once? Confusing as that was we finally all got our drinks 30 mins later. After hunting her down once we got drinks to order our food, I asked if we can all order and she said yes and walked away. Where is this lady going?? Anyway she came back and took our food orders and 20 mins came back to confirm our orders which I was confused why you'd do that so much later, she realized she had missed one of our friends orders. She looked at her notepad and realized she hadnt written his down and said sorry. I appreciate that but how do you keep missing all these things?!? She ended up putting his food order in which came out later than all of ours which was disappointing for how long we all waited and for how empty this place was. We ordered a Deck moco, ahi sandwich, ribs, fish and chips and bloody Mary's. The deck moco rice was overcooked and mushy. The ahi sandwich was nothing special. The ribs tasted like the sauce was out of a bottle and the meat was not tender. The bloody Mary's were so bland and we ordered 5 of them... Not once were we asked how the food was tasting or if we needed anything. I'm not sure if this place will survive. Great view but terrible service and food was nothing special. read more

I recently dined at The Deck in Honolulu and had quite an interesting experience. Our reservation was for 7:30 pm, and while we arrived on time, they apologized for being short staffed and seated us a bit later than expected. No big deal; these things happen. Once seated, our waitress took our drink orders. We went for Nice Melons, Buzzin, and Not Your Average Waikiki Mai Tai. Unfortunately, I have to give a 0 out of 5 for the drinks; they were disgusting. For food, we ordered fish tacos (2pcs), fried calamari, and yellowtail carpaccio. The tacos and carpaccio were good, but the calamari was a joke - only 4 rings? Seriously? Hoping for a better experience, we ordered 3 Bloody Marys. They turned out to be the worst Bloody Marys I've ever had in my life. When the check came, it was $155. Now, let's rate the service: we were the only table without water, the waitress never checked if we needed anything, and we waited over 10 minutes for straws for the Bloody Marys. We ended up getting up and grabbing them from the bar ourselves. Service: 0 out of 5. Drinks: 0 out of 5. The place looks nice and offers a good view of the mountain, but we could enjoy that view without spending $155. If I could leave a 0 rating, I definitely would, but since the minimum is 1, that's what I'll give them. I do not recommend The Deck to anyone. There are many other places where you can enjoy a good view and good drinks. Also, it's worth noting that they offer discounts for 5-star reviews, so take their overall rating with a grain of salt. read more

Where do I begin... Great outdoor venue with the most amazing view of Diamond Head on the whole island. Know it is located on the 3rd level by the pool of the Queen Kapiolani Hotel, right across the street from the zoo. This has to be one of the best hotel bars I've seen in quite a while. I have been a manager for some of the top nightclubs and bars in Miami and South Beach for over 10yrs and I just want to say the head of operations knows what he is doing. Happy hour on a Sunday is just genius. The atmosphere is everything. Old school hip hop playing. The bar was spotless and the staff was super friendly, especially Gerard, our bartender. He made sure my fiancee and I got settled in and we hit it off right away. The worst part of the menu was it had so many good optiondI'm a bit adventurous and love trying new things, so I asked him to make me his specialty, so he whipped the Deck Dealer. I just want to say it was like he read me like a book. It was exactly what I didn't know I needed. Now my wife-to-be just started getting into gin and loves nuts, so after perusing the menu Gerard suggested the Sho-time. This guy really knows his stuff. This was a gin pistchio foam cocktail. We got a chance to speak to the manager, Hymen (I think). Great guy, very knowledgeable with a great sense of humor. Surprised to find out he also came from Miami. My recent visit to DECK with my elderly mother was nothing short of a disappointment. The experience started on a sour note when our waitress displayed extreme rudeness, even towards my elderly mom, who doesn't speak English fluently. When I politely asked her to take a photo of my mom and me, she curtly replied that she was too busy. It was disheartening, especially on a special occasion when I wanted to capture memories with my mother.To make matters worse, we were informed at our hotel (Lotus Hotel) that we could enjoy a 10% discount at DECK, as listed in the hotel's discount directory. However, when I mentioned this to our waitress, she dismissively responded, "not at this place." I even showed her a picture of the paper listing the restaurant, but she initially refused to acknowledge it. Only after repeated requests and a manager's intervention did we receive the promised discount.To add to our disappointment, the local fish we ordered was tasteless and far from satisfactory. Overall, this experience was a severe letdown, especially during a special vacation with my mom. I recently had a disappointing experience at this restaurant, which was a far cry from my previous visits. Right from the beginning, there were issues with the service. We waited for 15 minutes without a greeting and had to flag down a random employee to get someone's attention. When our waitress finally arrived, she hurriedly took our order in just 30 seconds, showing no interest in our occasion (my boyfriend's birthday) or any allergies. After placing the order, we waited another 15 minutes, but our drinks never arrived because the bartender had seemingly forgotten our order. The food came quickly, but our waitress made minimal effort, only briefly popping in to ask if everything was okay, while hiding her body behind a pillar. The service hit rock bottom when we finished our meal and waited for the bill. Our waitress was engrossed in conversation with other coworkers, so we had to approach the server station to pay. It was a slow night, with few customers, so her excuse of being too busy didn't hold up.
